Forms :: Listboxes With Separate Query In Continuous Form?
Dec 2, 2013
What i wish to do: list activities in a continuous form, and in one column display for each row a listbox which rowsource query is based on another column value from the same row.
I have to admit that the best thing for me would be to be able to create through vba a continuous form... is that possible?
I am new to Access and I have get to where the users can make selections in the listboxes, but then I need to save the selection in a query or table to save thier changes.
I have a continuous form that displays a list of invoices (frmInvoiceList) based on an adjustable filter contained within the form. I have the filters working the way that I want them through VBa and I have a button on each record to open a report (rptInvoice). Inside that report, I have some controls to "print", "email", and "export to PDF". Again all that works just the way I want. The Form and the Report are based on a different query and each has an InvoiceID field to link.
What I am trying to do is put the Print, Email, and Export buttons on the main form which would perform the appropriate action for all the records that are displayed on the form. I've been able to get the Print function to work to a degree. It will print all the records, but it changes the background colors based on the alternating records. When I go to Email or Export, it creates a single file with multiple pages and each page is a new record, again with the alternating background colors.
Ideally, I would like to have a separate file exported for each record that can be renamed and archived separately. I'm not so concerned with the email function but if it would be possible to generate a separate report for each invoice, then pull the appropriate email address for the record, that would be really nice.
I've tried some "for" and "do" loops that I found through some Googling but none of the samples ended up working like I wanted.
I have the following code that is intended to use the three fields obtained from a record on a continuous form and display the details of the record on a single form. I have not used the findfirst method because I am having enormous problems with it. Instead I am defining a query based on the recordsource of the continuous form. This sql query gives one record as result and that record is to be used as recordsource by the single form.
Code: Public Sub SboxSelectForm(ForName, ParName, QryName) On Error GoTo NotFound Debug.Print "SelectForm ForName="; ForName; " ParName="; ParName; " QryName="; QryName Dim ResultQy As String, F As Form, P As Form Dim db As DAO.Database Dim Prsc As DAO.Recordset, Frsc As DAO.Recordset
I have a table called Tbl_Query_List that houses the query names that I want to be displayed on a continuos form. I want the user to select the query by highlighting it in the continious form and then having a command button at the bottom of the form.
I have everything setup including the command button. Assuming that on the EVENTS tab I set the OnClick to [Event Procedure] but when I click on the ellipsis what do I type to make it run the highlighted query?
I have a form with two textboxes called: txtAptDep, txtAptArr.
On their right side there are two buttons (btn1, btn2) to open a form called frmAirportSearch. It allows to choose (from a listbox) the airport to be filled in those two textboxes.
Now, if I search for an airport pressing btn1, I want the airport to be returned into txtAptDep, while if I open the form by btn2, the airport choosen must be returned in the second textbox.
I am creating a database in which to store my data collected in my research. I have 8 tables that are linked by a SampleID number. I have created a form which has tabs, the first tab contains the information required for entry on table 1; how I am going to add the controls from table 2 onto the second tab.
I know how to make additional tabs and I have created a separate form for table 2 with the form wizard, cut and pasted the fields into the second tab on my first form BUT how to establish the source for those controls back to the second table. To make matters worse (of course not to be too dramatic here) I can see the other table in my Field List of related tables.
I'm trying to open a form with a subform from a separate form. I've never had any issue before, but all of the sudden, the subform doesn't seem to open immediately. I get the error
Code: Method 'Form' of object '_SubForm' failed.
After that, it opens (subform and all), but some calculated text fields just say "#Name?#" The only thing I did today was add a command button to that subform.
When I try opening the form (or subform) from the navigation pane, I get
Code: The expression On Current you entered as the event property setting produced the following error:
A problem occurred while Contracts was communicating with the OLE server or ActiveX Control
When I step through the code, it doesn't reach the On Current event.
I have two command add buttons on my form that go to two separate tables. I also have a go to next record button as well. Is there a way that I can put all three commands under one command button? They are already coded in VBA and all work properly individually, I just want to make it smoother if possible ..
I am trying to filter a subform on a tab control based on an input on a second form.
Mainform: frm Index Page 2 Tab Control on Mainform: tabctrlMain Subform: Customer Details Tab Name: tabCustomerDetails
The second form is basically a separate Search Form where users can look for a customer ID and returns the ID back to Customer Details form.So far I have managed to redirect focus to the correct tab on the tab control using the following code:
DoCmd.OpenForm "frm Index Page 2" With Forms("frm Index Page 2") !tabctrlMain.Value = !tabCustomerDetails.PageIndex End With
However, I am stuck with the filtering part. Everything was working fine before I began putting the forms together into one big tab control (I tried using Navigation Pane but there were too many referencing problems so I gave up on that one).
I have 3 forms that all use the same sub form. The 3 main forms show 3 different project types, where the sub form shows what other projects that a company is engaged with. Rather than create 3 different queries for my sub form, i would like to just filter it using criteria that looks at the CompanyID field on my 3 main forms. Currently my criteria is like this:
[Forms]![frmProjects_Detail_IND]![txtcompanyid] Or Like [Forms]![frmProjects_Detail_CSS]![txtcompanyid] Or Like [Forms]![frmProjects_Detail_TAP]![txtcompanyid]
Is there a way to ignore the parameters that are null?
In my form (source tblJobs) i input a contract number from tblContracts. but i would also like it to show the contract address when the contract number is entered. Both fields belong to tblContracts but i only wish to enter the contract number, the address will just be used as a reference as it isnt something i would have to enter again.
So for example
112 - Main Road
If i enter 122 in my ContractNo field i would like it to show the contract address for that specific contract.
The main issue I'm having is trying to populate a text box based on a combo box selection. I've found threads on that - the twist that is throwing me for a loop is that I'm dealing with two different forms.
I have a main/welcome form with two combo boxes on it. Based on the user's selections in these two combo boxes, two different forms are opened for data entry. For instance, box 1 has A, B, C and box 2 has x, y, z. If a user chooses B and z, then form B and form z are opened. What I want is for a text box to be populated on one of the opened forms, not the same (main/welcome) form. In other words, when B and z are chosen, I would like there to be a textbox autofilled with "z" on form z.
i want to search a phone number in contact information table with column names - number, name, address, dob, gender, f-name, m-name etc and show them in a form with each field in separate text boxes in access 2010.
Move Selected Items Between Listbox1 (listEmp) and listbox2 (listAllocated). the items moved from listEmp must be removed from listEmp when moved to list allocated and vice versa.
Overview:
listEmp is my first listbox and currently has the query in it's rowsource SELECT e.* FROM qryEmp AS e; it has 7 columns but only 6 are showing (Column 1 is hidden) and it is currently bound to 1
listAllocated has only 4 columns (can be changed) i only need the first 4 columns from the first list. currently it has no row source and the row source type is set to Value it is also bound to 1
I did find some code that does not do what I need but is closer than anything that I have found so far. It seems like it is copying the Selected Items from Column 1 and pasting it in the second listbox. but it is pasting them all in a row and not in individual columns below is the code. I will post a screen shot in 2 posts time.
Code: Private Sub cmdCopyItem_Click() CopySelected Me End Sub
I have a bound continuous tabular form,However, based on data content in one field of a record, I want a checkbox in the same record enabled, so the user can check it if necessary. I have created a record set using the form as shown below, and I am looping through each record. To show that my code is referring to the field with required data content, I display it as a message box and it works, yet my checkbox does not enable.
I have the code in the form_load event, however, for testing purposes I have it behind a button. If I am seeing this properly, the code behind the button enables the checkbox for ALL records once the criteria in the required field is true, and based on the last record, which has no data content, it disables the checkbox in ALL records. I also have the PK ID for each record hidden in the form. Can I utilize that to target the checkbox of each individual record??
Form Detail -Form does not allow additions or deletions. Edits allowed -All fields are disabled and locked -I only want the check box to unlock if data is found in the "RequiredField" as referred to below. I have also tried if not isNull(requiredfield.value) then -enable checkbox, which yields the same results
Here is my code
Code:
Dim rstMyForm As DAO.Recordset Set rstMyForm = Forms!MyForm.Form.Recordset rstMyForm.MoveFirst Do While Not rstMyForm.EOF If Not RequiredField.Value = "" Then
I have 2 Listboxes the first list is based on a query I need to select items from this box or part of each item and move to another listbox. the items in the second listbox will be used in a report. I have previously posted on another forum with no real luck fyi. the query is put straight in the RowSource.
I want to use buttons on a form to change the sort order on a continuous form. In the buttons click event I am using a public function (named Sort_1) to change the sort order. The first element of the event call is the name of a generic query (named Sort_1_Query1) and the query field to sort (LAST_NAME OR FRIST_NAME, depending on the button.)This is the Click Statement.
=Sort_1("Sort_1_Query1","LAST_NAME")
This is the Public Function Public Function Sort_1(SortName As String, FieldName1 As String) DoCmd.ApplyFilter SortName, FieldName1 & "between 'A' and 'Z'" End Function
I think the problem is in the use of quotation marks or trying to pass the query field name to the Do Command or the use of an ampersand.
I have a continuous form in which I put a command button for each record called "detail". I would like to click on the "detail" button and make it open another form containing all (and only) the info on this record.
At first I refused to use an "id" to link both forms, but finally I added the "id" in the table... however still does not work.
continuous form: "04 - GASTOS_BUSQUEDA" id field on continuous form: "Gastid"
pop-up (details) form: "GASTOS_EDITAR" id on pop-up (details) form: "editar_id"
This is what I have tried on the "click" properties of the "details" button field (called "btn_editgs"):
4) Private Sub btn_editgs_Click() On Error GoTo btn_editgs_Click_Err Dim strWhere As String strWhere = "[editar_id] = " & Me.Gastid DoCmd.OpenForm "GASTOS_EDITAR", , , strWhere btn_editgs_Click_Exit: Exit Sub btn_editgs_Click_Err: MsgBox Error$ Resume btn_editgs_Click_Exit End Sub
I want to return a value from a separate query and have that show up in a field on my main form. The field name from the query is "Six Month Date" and the query name is "DT6Monthqry". I want to return the value displayed in the"Six Month Date" from the query, matching the CustomerID in the query result to the CustomerID that is being displayed on the main form. The CustomerID is a text field. This is the code I placed in the Control Source property for the field I want to be displayed on the main form:
