Forms :: Macro To Enter A Standard Text Response In Any Field?

Apr 18, 2014

I am filling in a database using forms, and I would like to be able to add standard values to any field using a macro/VBA code I don't want to set up a different macro for each field though - I have around 40 different fields (to elaborate, it's a mark database for student projects, each field is a different thing I am commenting on. I want to quickly add 'Missing' or 'Good' to a field - but I also want the option of free text instead.).can't figure how to do it in MS Access.

Forms :: Easy Way To Use Enter Key To Automatically Run A Macro?

Aug 21, 2014

know an easy way to use the enter key to automatically run a macro?

I have a login form which works fine. However, at the moment the user needs to type in username and password and then manually click on a 'log in' button. What I would like to happen is that if the user presses enter on the keyboard it will run the same macro as the log in button but without have to click on it?

May 18, 2005

 I have a note field in a table for short description of a building parts. Is it posseble to make some standard text in a form with a "values" between the text to choose from?
Like:
This building is from "text field for input"
The roof is made of "a combobox with 4-5 items to choose from".

The standard text with the choosen values should then be sent to a note field at submit.

Enter Text Into A Numeric Field

May 14, 2005

I use Access as my grading program at school. Right now, if I want to excuse a student for an assignment, I delete that record.

What I would like to do is put an "X" or some other string into a field that is numeric and Access would ignore that score when computing the average.

A longshot, but I thought I would ask.

Thanks.

Enter Text Into A Memo Field Using A Drop Down And Button

Dec 6, 2005

I have this database which has a comments field which often gets the same text added into it depending on what is in it. what I am trying to do is something similar to signiatures in outlook express.

What the end user wants to do is select from a dropdown box what text they want to add to the field and hit a button and it will insert it into the memo (comments) field in the form without overwriting any of the text they have in there already, they might want to just add one of the sentences or several.

Does anyone have any suggestions on how I might go about this?

Tables :: Adding More Than One Response To A Field

Dec 20, 2012

I have a table of issues (tblIssues). Each issue has legislation that it must be dealt under. Some issues relate to more than one piece of legislation. Some legislation deals with more than issue. Ideally, therefore, I'd like to have a separate table of legislation (tblLegislation).

Where any issue refers to two (or three) pieces of legislation, can I store that in a single field? Or do I simply need to create a record in tblLegislation for the combined legislation?

Forms :: Enter Parameter Value On Unbound Field

Nov 27, 2013

I'm using Access 2013.

My scenario is: I have a Form to add Job Logs. This form has a cascading combo box with Clients filtering Projects. However, the Clients Combo Box is unbound, Projects is bound to the ClientProjects ID. I had to do this instead of have a key for both Clients and Projects in my Job Logs table due to the fact that Clients and Projects have a many-to-many relationship.

For Adding Job Logs this is fine.

My Problem: I have separate forms for viewing and editing Job Logs, and naturally, because Clients has no binding, every time I run these forms Access brings up the 'Enter Parameter Value' Message Box. I have tried a VB script to assign the Client ID based on the ClientProject ID value stored in the Projects combobox, on Form Load, however it still asks me to enter the Parameter Value and just writes the code in the combobox. Here's the Script:

Private Sub Form_Load()
Me.SelectClient = "SELECT Client ID, Client Name " & _
"FROM Client Projects Query " & _
"WHERE ClientProjectID = " & Me.SelectProject.Value
End Sub

Also, the Projects Combobox is also empty.

Forms :: Can't Enter Data Into Blank Field On One Side Of Outer Join

May 21, 2014

I think I have just finished designing my database and I tried to test it and I couldn't enter any new records as it says "Can't enter data into blank field on "one" side of outer join" whenever I try and enter info and I don't know much SQL to work out what has happened. It probably causes this too but I also cannot select check boxes.

The form where I try and enter the info is called Crisis_support_workers v3. I have attached my database so you can look at what I have done.

Macro Not Recognizing Text Box Value

Sep 17, 2011

I have a text box on a sub-form that you can double-click to bring up another form that filters records based on the value in that text box you double-click. It used to work, but for some reason, it's no longer able to find the value in the text box so I get that little pop-up window asking for the value of the field I'm trying to reference.

What are the possible causes for this?

Forms :: Validating Text Field On Form Against Another Field In Same Record?

Apr 17, 2014

I have a form where I would like to validate (restrict) choices in subsequent fields.

Example

Combobox choices are Air, Fire, Water, Earth, Space

In the form I have 4 fields = Material1, Material2, Material3, Material4. (all in same record on my table)

Basically I need the validation to not allow duplicates across the 4 fields.

something like....

[Material1] <> [Material2] or [Material3]or [Material4]

I am not sure of the proper syntax for the validation field in the Form Properties. Or if I am even putting it in the right place.

Can't See Specs When Trying To Import Text File Via Macro

Oct 23, 2014

I am trying to complete a macro that starts with importing of a text file. However, when I go to complete the steps in the macro, I do not see the specs for the import file that i created. There is a dropdown with a few specs for me to choose from in the box titled "Specification Name" when I am completing the action titled ImportExport Text. However, none of those specs are the right ones.

When I go to "Saved Imports" I can plainly see the import that I am interested in. So is a Saved Import different than a spec? If so, what steps do I need to do to create the spec?
