I have a single-user application about to become multi-user.

There is a table, displayed in a form as datasheet, where we do lots of things with the selected items.

Code:
MyID MyItem IsSelected ....
1______ItemA__ Yes
2______ItemB__ Yes
3______ItemC__ No
....

The user checks the IsSelected (bound to a checkbox) for the items required for further processing, does the processing and starts over. The function of the column IsSelected is to hold the boolean signifying whether or not to process the record, and to bind to the checkbox in the form.

How to retain the user interface (i.,e. selecting using one or more checkboxes) if the database is to be used by more than one user?

Forms :: MultiSelect Or Single Select List Box?

I have inherited a database that is used to track equipment that comes in for repair. One of the fields in this database is a memo field that lists the parts that are replaced on a piece of equipment. It has been requested that I leave this field as it is. However, I would like to regulate the data that is entered into to some extent. I need to ensure that there is a comma between every part number listed (there is another group that wants data from this database and they want to be able to separate this field out into individual fields). Is there a way to have Access look at the data in a memo field, find all the periods or ampersands, and replace them with commas?

The other thought I had was to provide the person filling in the database with a multi-select list box that lists all the available part numbers for a given piece of equipment. That person could select as many as she wants and when she was done, the database would take those values, put a comma between each one, and paste them in the memo field. Is that possible? What I have tried isn't working. I tried to get it to loop through the selected items and put them in the memo field, but I just end up with the last value selected instead of all of the items selected.

I don't know what to try next, Either the person entering the data is going to be upset because she has to type every part number in a different field, or the people receiving the data are going to be upset because there isn't a comma between each number.

I understand that there are a lot of examples of the vba code for multiselect but that is only for multiselect alone and not like my search form that combine textbox and multiselect listbox.

I would like to use a listbox set to multiselect to add records to a junction table. I've been using code to accomplish this with checkboxes (love how it looks and works) but after moving my tables to Office 365 as the backend, linkedto a local frontend, sql does not like this particular set up, and I do not have the time or knowledge to sort out why. So what I need is a step by step to look at the many, in this case possible roles a contact can have, and choose one or more, which then creates a record in the junction table with the contact id and role id.

I would prefer to not use a combobox on a continuous form because every time a user goes to select roles he would have to scroll through all the choices for each separate role.

Forms :: Access 2003 - Scroll To Selected Item On Multiselect Listbox

I've got a form with a multiselect listbox (extended) that holds a very long list of items (~90,000):

1 | Apple
2 | Orange
3 | Banana
...............
35313| Corn cob
...............

The user can select multiple items (non-sequential) on the listbox, say items 1 and 35313. I'd like the listbox to scroll (meaning display) to the currrently selected item, so that the user can see it while being processed.

I've seen stuff about property ListIndex, which does exactly that, but it's only useful when you have just ONE item selected (in a multiselect listbox apparently it deselects the rest of the items, so no point in using it, I guess, unless there's more to it!!).

So the key here is how to do the scrolling/display.

The code to loop through the listbox and process each selected item is attached:

Checkboxes On Forms

I am very new to Access, so bear with me please.

How do you create a form that will query a list from a table, and then separate each invidivual entry from the query into its own checkbox?

Example:

*run query or something similar, and 3 items are brought up*

Tracking Form 00001:

Item1 [x]
Item2 [x]
Item3 [x]

Each individual item in the query might change, so I want to keep it flexible. Once all of the checkbox options are organized and put onto that section of the form, I want to append all of the values that were checked off into a field on another table. So for example let's say the person inputting the form checked off item1 and item3, the field on the table linked to it would now have field1="item1, item3".

Is there a way to do this without a lot of coding, possibly just using the menu-driven interfaces and maybe a coded query? I am not that familiar with Access so any help is appreciated.

I already have a form where I can enter data.

In that form I would like to have different check-boxes (three of them), representing actions done that day.

Let's say each form represents a contact, and I need check-boxes for:

- Called
- E-mailed
- Visited

This is something I am now able to do. But.... I would like these check-boxes to be cleared automatically the next day.

So when the database is opened the next day, these check-boxes start unchecked.

And I would also like that as soon I check a check-box on a certain day, there is an entry for that action and date is being entered in the record of that contact, so I am able to check later on what day, what action was performed.

I wish to filter the records in a listbox by using checkboxes.

The listbox (list1) and the checkboxes are in the same form (form1)

The listbox displays the records from a query (query1) related to a single table (table1).

Each record (assuming a list of videos) has a field called "Typology". The "video typologies" are: Movie, Documentary, Animation. So the table1 has a column called "Typology" which displays one of the three typology in simple text.

When entering a new record (in a specific form) user can choose the typology selecting an option in a combobox. The combobox is a "value list" one and I wrote the typologies in the "row origin" line:
"Movie";"Documentary";"Animation"

So we have a single column in simple text for all the typologies, but limited choiches.

So far everything is working well.

Now I wish to filter the records in the listbox by typology. Each typology should be related to a checkbox, so when I check a checkbox then the listbox returns only the records form a specific typology. Also, I wish to check more then one checkbox in order to display records from multiple typologies rather than one.

I've already made a button which resets the form, displaying once again all the records and eventually unchecking all the checkboxes.

About option buttons: I've managed filtering the listbox results using option buttons in a frame (option group?) and it works fine, but in this way I can choose only one typology at a time (and the typology field in the tabel1 of course is not simple text, but numeric: 1=Movie, 2=Documentary etc).

I thought this could be solved using the click event on each checkbox:

-If the checkbox "Movie" is checked then the listbox shows only the records which have the text "Movie" in the Typology field. Else, show all the records.
-If the checkbox "Documentary" is checked then the listbox shows only the records which have the text "Documentary" in the Typology field.
Etc......

I have a form where you can select four different options: Health, Dental, Vision, and COBRA, with a button to run a census. Right now, the button runs a DoCMD.OpenReport to open a report named "Census" where there are four text boxes, "Health Coverage Type" "Dental Coverage Type" "Vision Coverage Type" and "COBRA Coverage Type". I want the user to be able to select a checkbox, then filter the report to only enable the text boxes of the corresponding names.

So if someone selects Health & Dental, I want the report to run with the "Health Coverage Type" and "Dental Coverage Type" textboxes enabled/visible, but the other two to be blank.

The listbox reflects everything great, except it shows an extra checkbox at the end of the list that does nothing.

From a dropdown field in the form it's currently possible to choose a geographical region for which to generate a report. The data populating this dropdown is pulled in from a Value List as follows:

I now need the ability to choose various different regions simultaneously which is not possible with the current method. I've looked into a nested continuous form and a multi-select combo box or list box, but none of these are as user friendly as my preferred method.

What I would like is 15 checkboxes plus a 16th to select/unselect all. When any of these checkboxes is checked, I need to create something like a dynamic value string or temporary table to hold the list of chosen regions until the generate button is clicked at which point the data is used to generate the report and cleared. I also need a piece of code to check/uncheck all the boxes.

I'm on my way on creating a simple Database for a company. This database contains several tables, one of the tables will record information about the training that had been completed by each employee. There are about ten sections of training that should be completed.

For instance, I have two tables called 'Development' and 'CSA_Lisence'. 'Development' is the table that record the information about training which containing ten checkboxes (which represent ten sections of training) and CSA_Lisence will be automatically requeried when all of the checkboxes on Development are fully checked.

Here's the step I've been worked on :

First, I made a function called 'CheckCompletion' to ensure whether all the checkboxes are checked :

Forms :: Change ComboBox Drop Down Menu From Displaying Checkboxes For Multiple Values

I have an issue with a couple of my combo boxes. When in form mode the drop down menu displays a list of options (taken from my source table), this is fine, but the problem is that it allows the user to select more than one of the options in the form of checkboxes. This is not what I intended.

I've attached to pictures to demonstrate the problem. The first is ComboBoxQuery (the one with the problem) and the second is ComboBoxQueryWorkign (the one without a problem).

I'm not sure why this is happening and I've tried comparing all the properties of both these combo boxes and changing some of them to see if I can eliminate the problem without any joy.

I use a very standard SELECT statement to pull the data for the combo box:

SELECT CountryID, CountryName FROM tblCountryInfo ORDER By CountryName

Multiselect

Hi all

I have an unbound form. To the left I have a list box with a list of employee names. To the right I have a bunch of text fields. Once I've entered the data, I click on a button and it adds a new record. It works perfectly provided I add one employee at a time. It gets painful when I have multiple employees and I'm entering the same data.

Is there a way I can multiselect employees from the listbox, fill in the data fields and add multiple records which just one click??

I'd appreciate any advice.

Now i need some help here.
I adapted this code from somewhere on this forum. But iam having a problem with using the 'ALL' criteria.
It Opens a Report Dynamically from multiple selections in the two multiselect ListBoxes, but when i select 'All' and select any other item in another listbox
For Example(All in Names and Home1 in Homes) it gives me all the Results.
I have tried several criterias to solve it out but iam still failing.
Hope there will be help. Attached is a sample db in A2K and A97.

Merry X-mas everyone!!!

I'm new to this message board and I'm glad i came across it. I've been looking for a way to multiselct search using Combo boxes.Reading through the threads here i found one (Posted by SBaxter). I've use the SQL Statements and VB code for my search. It works but not like his for some reason. The problem i'm having is when you open the form it asks for criteria like a parameter Query does. You have to type it in before it loads, unlike his where you click what you want out of combo boxes. At first i thought it was something i did wrong with the query but i've noticed that in his DB if you have the form open and then open the query it doesn't act like parameter. It does if the form is close. With mine that doesn't matter i still have to type it in! So i'm guessing it's with how i set up the list box in my form. I've attached a copy for someone to look at.

Multiselect Update

Hi all

I have a list box with a bunch of names in it that links to a subform on a master form. At the moment I click on a name and update details in the subform. It would be nice if I could multiselect names then update details all at once without having to individually change each one. I tried the multiselect property but I get index or relationship errors. I don't have any relationships (because I'm not adding new records... just updating) and I changed the indexes to NO. Didn't work. I tried!! Any idea how I might get this working??

MultiSelect Listbox

I have a table, "people" which has all the main data stored. I have another table, "organizations" which I'd like to be able to use on a form to select which organizations people belong to. I created a button on my main form which opens another form on which a listbox with all the organizations shows. What I'd like to do is from the main form, click a button that brings up a new form. On the new form, I can select the affiliations. Then, when I close that form, a box on the main form shows what i've just selected. I got this to work with the listbox, but when I changed it to multi-select it stopped working. Help!! Thanks.

MultiSelect ListBox

I want to be able to select multiple items from a listbox, click a button, and then print the data related to that item selected using a report.

In the report to print the data, I have added the criteria
[Forms]![Print Labels]![List2]
This is the name of the listbox. However, this doesn't print the items selected in the list box.

Do I have to do this through VBA, or can I accomplish this through a query in the report?

Multiple Multiselect Listboxes

Hi, my problems are numerous!
I have a form with a number of multiselect listboxes. Their sources are individual tables such as YEARS, PARISHES, CLIENTS. The underlying data is stored in a separate table. I want users to be able to select none, one or some values from each listbox and run a report.
As simple listboxes with one selection permitted this worked fine. I know that my problem is in concantenating the values.

I have tried attaching some code to the OnClick function of a cmd button on the form. I found this code referred to a number of times here and have tried to adapt it but no luck. I have now reduced my form to one listbox to test stuff out- this is the code-

Set frm = Form!testform
Set ctl = frm!lboparish

The first error I get is "can't find field 'testform'"

My form is called testform
The listbox is called lboparish
The table with all the data is called StJamesAgric

What am I doing wrong???? And also, if this code EVER works, do I need to repeat it for each listbox or do I insert refernces to each list box within just one subcommand?

Any help greatly appreciated.
