Forms :: Navigation Form Printing Current Record Out As PDF

May 31, 2014

I have made a navigation form that prints the current record out as a PDF and also the option to send the current record by email as a PDF. Both work perfect when you open the form outside the navigation form. But when you open it inside the navigation form, it does not print any of the information.

The problem is in the Query report, In the criteria box for field [RequsetID] it has

Code : [Forms]![FRMRequestForm]![RequestID]

(The above works outside the navigation form.)

I have also tried adding the navigation form name

Code : [Forms]![Main]![FRMRequestForm]![RequestID]

But none work.

Printing Current Record On Form And Subform

Oct 21, 2006

I currently am trying to print the current record that I have selected on my form and the subform that I have on the same page. If I try to print selected record it will only print out the main form correctly and will print out the first record on the sub form. I have tried to make a reprot of the current form and it only will do the main form and nothing from the sub form. I am willing to try whatever method would work in getting this to work. Thanks

Printing Current Record

Nov 20, 2006

This could go in forms or reports, I think but:

I have a database which I am developing over time as I see ways of improving it and as I learn bits of vba. My current problem relates to invoicing (that I have probably created for myself!): I currently have two invoice report layouts because of different invoicing addresses.

I now want to add a cmd button to my invoice entry form that will firstly preview, then print the current record. I found elsewhere in the forum a way of previewing just the current record by way of specifying in the underlying qry the ClientID so that it selects the record displayed on the form.

I have this line of code which then previews the invoice:

DoCmd.OpenReport "rptInvoicePrivateClients", acViewPreview

This does not take account, though of the different invoice layouts.
I think strictly speaking I should only have one invoice report, but what I want to say is this:

If the client is a private client, then preview rptInvoicePrivate,
Else preview rptInvoiceLocumWork

I have tried entering this code that does not work

If SolicitorID = "1" Then
DoCmd.OpenReport "rptInvoicePrivateClients", acViewPreview
Else
DoCmd.OpenReport "rptInvoiceLocumWork", acViewPreview
End If

It comes back with a message that SolicitorID is not defined, but I have included Option Explicit.

Any help please

Printing Only One (current) Record In A Report

Jul 19, 2007

Hi Everyone,

I'm probably going about this the wrong way all together, but what I'm trying to do is print a single record from a form in a report.
Basically after the client fills in the form they can print their "results report" using the click box (command button) in the bottom corner of the form. When the client clicks on the button it prints all the records ("result reports") of all the clients...no good of course.
Here's the code for the button:

Private Sub PrintSingleChamber_Click()
On Error GoTo Err_PrintSingleChamber_Click

Dim stDocName As String

stDocName = "SingleChamberPrintOut"
DoCmd.OpenReport stDocName, acNormal

Exit_PrintSingleChamber_Click:
Exit Sub

Err_PrintSingleChamber_Click:
MsgBox Err.Description
Resume Exit_PrintSingleChamber_Click

End Sub

Can someone point me in the right direction? :confused:
Thanks again,

Mark

Printing The Current Record Which Has A Subform

Jan 11, 2006

Hello,

I have done a search on this forum and found all the postings relating to printing only the current record for a report. I have a command button and have followed what these posts say. The report prints the current record but leaves out the data from the subform.

The database is a recipe organizer. The main form is called Recipes and the subform contains the ingredients for each recipe. This subform is called Ingredients.

I set up a command button with the following code:

Private Sub Print_Recipe_Click()
On Error GoTo Err_Print_Recipe_Click

Dim stDocName As String

stDocName = "Family Recipes"
DoCmd.OpenReport stDocName, acNormal, , "[RecipeID] = " & Forms!RECIPES![RecipeID]

Exit_Print_Recipe_Click:
Exit Sub

Err_Print_Recipe_Click:
MsgBox Err.Description
Resume Exit_Print_Recipe_Click

End Sub

Since the RecipeID is used in both forms and the report, I thought it would be the best field to use since it linked all the information together.

So what do I need to do so that the subform data prints out on the report?

Thanks
GeekyGirl

Printing A Report Based On The Current (new) Record

Nov 23, 2006

Hi All,

Having a problem with a report, I have a form that i use to enter a new record to my database, what I want to do is put a button at the bottom of the form to print the record (via a report)

If I base this on a record that already exists, it works fine.
However,
If I have just entered the record the query the report runs off doesn't see the new record. To print that record I have to exit the completed record, then go back in to it and print.
My aim is to remove this additional part of the process, I'm sure it's something really simple, but can anyone help?

Many Thanks
Paul

Forms :: Printing One Record From A Form

Mar 25, 2015

So I created a form for the nursery at my church. It's set up so that they pick their child from a drop down menu (in a separate form), then a form opens up that brings up their child's information. I have a save and print button at the bottom, and I was able to set it up so that it does save the form and close it, but I can't figure out how to get it to print. I need to set it up so that the information displayed is all that is printed (not all the records like it keeps showing in print preview), and print it at a certain size (like a label). Everything I keep finding says to print from a report, but I have it set up as a form.

Forms :: Record Navigation In A Form Fail To Work

Jun 2, 2013

I have a data base in which there is a table where each record describe properties of one fishing trip. The first column in the table is a number (unique but not autonumber format) and I already made 10,000 records with only this index number . Now me and others in my lab are entering data to this table for each of the records.

The data entry is done using form which show one record at a time (lets call it "sail_info_F").

I made another form which has only two elements:

1. text box in which I enter a number
2. button which opens the data entry form ("sail_info_F") showing the record with the same index number as the number I enter on the text box.

(the code for this button is "DoCmd.OpenForm "sail_info_F", , , "[RECORD_NUMBER]=" & Me.TEXT_BOX_NAME"

So far so good and it does open the form in the wanted record. BUT when the form opens I can't use the buttons I have placed in this forms which move between records. Those were made with the wizard, and are working OK when I open the form directly without using the second form (The one which opens "sail_info_F" on a specific record).

Forms :: Displaying Blank Form Instead Of Current Record

Jun 5, 2014

I have created a navigation form with quick access to the forms and reports I use most often. The Navigation Form (which I named Control Panel) automatically lands on the Tutor_Information Form on a current record. However, I would like for it to open to a blank form instead while retaining the ability to access the current records. Individually, when opening the Tutor_Information Form from the Navigation Panel, it opens to a blank record.

I used a 2 step macro

1. OpenForm
2. GoToRecord - New.

How can I make it do the same thing when landing on the Navigation Form (Control Panel)? I am using Access 2013.

Forms :: Find Current Record When Moving From One Form To Another

Aug 7, 2013

Lets say,

Form A has fields: ID, LN and FN

ID LN FN
1 A F
2 B G
3 C H
4 D I
5 E J

Form B has fields: ID, LN and TR

ID LN TR
1 A Y
2 B N
3 C Y
4 D Y
5 E N

I would like to be able to switch between these two forms and the form automatically set focus to the record that I was on the form prior. Meaning if I am on record 3 on Form A and navigate to Form B, I would like to automatically set focus to record 3. Is this possible?

A possible issue after this gets sorted out is what happens if with the same scenario above record 3 does not exits? is it possible in that instance to simply requery the form?

Forms :: Print Current Record On Form To Report?

Mar 21, 2013

I have a DB in Access 2007 which I'm having trouble with. I have a form, "Sub_Det_Frm", on which I would like to place a button to print the current record, (Primary Key is an autonumber "Employee Number") to a report "Sub_DetForm_Rpt".

I've used the instructions from, oops I can't show you the link! It's h(double t)p(colon)//allenbrowne(dot)com/casu-15(dot)html but I'm getting this error:

The expression On Click you entered as the property setting produced the following error: A problem occurred while Employee Details was communicating with the OLE server or ActiveX Control.

This error occurs when an event has failed to run because Microsoft Office Access cannot evaluate the location of the logic for the event. For example, if the OnOpen property of a form is set to =[Field], this error occurs because Access expects a macro or event name to run when the event is fired.

Forms :: Combo Box On Continuous Form Updating Current Record Only

Combo box on continuous form should have the control source listed as the field on the form that will be updated. The Row Source, however, is a query that includes 2 things: the field on the form that will be updated (this part will be nonvisible in your form) and the table/query of selections you want to show up in the combo box (visible). Then ensure the Bound column is set to 1 and the Column count is set to 2 with Column Widths as 0";1"

Forms :: How To Copy Unbound Text Box On Form To A Current Record In Table

May 17, 2015

I created an unbound text box on a form that automatically pulls the current logged in user by using this:

Private Sub Txtuser_Click()
Me.Txtuser = Environ("Username")

The form grabbs the logged in user with no problems, however, I ultimately want this information to also end up in my table. So the form has three boxes (to keep it simple). The user will type their first name and last name manually on the form which the record source is this "table" where their name goes to the table last name =Field 1 and first name=Field 2 respectively. I want the unbound box from the form to place the logged in user in Field 3 for the current record.

Forms :: Main Form With 2 Subforms Fails To Open Current Record

May 12, 2014

I have a main form "frmDriverNoticeRecord" with 2 subforms, "frmSubDriverNotice" and "frmSubVehicleRecord"..The main form uses "IncidentID" as the PK. Each form stores data in its own table. The tables are related via IncidentID and there is a 1-many relationship between tblIncident (main) and tblDN (sub) and tblVehicle (sub).

I have a form "frmIncidentLog" displaying records in a table view with a few fields for quick reference and to allow selection of a single record for detailed viewing. I created a command button with the intent to open the "frmDriverNoticeRecord" at the current record. The main form and child link fields appear to be linked correctly; i.e. IncidentID on all three. If I open the form manually it opens and I can use it and search and filter as I want. If I try to open it via the command button It opens a small window asking for the IncidenID, when I enter theIncidentID number, it opens the form to the first record every time.Here is the code:

Private Sub comOpenDR_Click()

Dim frmName As String
Dim recID As String
frmName = "frmDriverNoticeRecord"
recID = "[IncidentID]=" & Me![IncidentID]
DoCmd.OpenForm frmName, , , recID
End Sub

I tried running the the DoCmd.OpenForm command directly from the button using the where condition (in various manners) with the same results.

Query In Forms Question (printing A Single Selected Query Record From A Form?)

Oct 19, 2004

What is the best way to impliment a query in a form so that the user can view the query records, and have the option to print or save the selected record using command buttons?

I tried subforms but I could not get the command buttons to work in the subform after it went into the form, it wanted to print the entire form instead of the selected record from the subform.

So in a nutshell I have 3-4 queries that are built, and I want to have them show up on my form in a format that the user can scroll through the results and select a single record of the results and then print or save that individual record from the form, if such a thing is possible.

Thanks in advance

Forms :: Record Navigation Button

Mar 25, 2015

I am using Access 2007 and am a former user of an old flat-file 32 bit program under Windows 3.x. I am fairly new to MS Access 2007. I run a filter or query, which will return X number of records. Then, I will search those X records by specific text, such as "assist" from the record navigation buttons. I search for "assist" and the text will be highlighted each time it is found in any text or memo field in the record. Hitting Enter takes me to the next occurrence and highlights the text. If "assist" occurs in 4 fields in a record, for instance, it will be highlighted in each of those 4 fields one by one as I hit Enter. The next Enter takes me to the next record and will then continue to the next occurrence of assist" in any of its fields. It will continue to highlight "assist" in those fields, in succession, until the last occurrence in all of those records is found, in which case Enter does not return "assist" anymore because the last occurrence has already been found.

This does not always work. Often, I get every occurrence of "assist," but in the current record only, even though the word exists in other remaining records that were returned with my original filters/query.
