This code works well and frmRepair opens with the updated label caption. The original value was "Return/repair Information"
A few other things need to change on frmRepair depending on this caption as well as the values of some other fields, so I use the following code in the onload event (although I later tried the onopen even)
Code:
'Disable labels button if there is no RMA and the item is a repair
MsgBox Me.lblmain.Caption
If Me.lblmain.Caption = "Return/Repair Information" Then
Me.txtRMA.SetFocus
MsgBox Me.txtRMA.Text
[Code] ....
However, I cannot get this to work as the "if" statement always returns "Return/Repair information" and not the modified caption. The message box confirms that this is the case.
I suspect that this has to do with the point in time that the frmRepair loads or opens and when my code enters the modified values.
I have a text box in a form, in which users enter updates. I would like that text to become the caption on a label in a printable report. How would I write the VBA to do this?
I have a form with an onload event that apparently only runs when it wants to. I've checked the onload property on the form and it is set to event procedure. Went through the code on the event and everything looks good. When i mark it in break mode and step through it it runs fine. When I take the marks off it sometimes works and sometimes doesn't.
I currently use code in a module and code on each form in the on_load event to change the icon of the form.. the code i use is as follows..
in a module:
Code: Private Declare PtrSafe Function GetSystemMetrics Lib "user32" (ByVal nIndex As Long) As Long Private Const WM_SETICON = &H80 Private Const IMAGE_ICON = 1 Private Const LR_LOADFROMFILE = &H10 Private Const SM_CXSMICON As Long = 49 Private Const SM_CYSMICON As Long = 50
[Code] ....
And on each form on load:
Code: SetFormIcon Me.hWnd, "k: est directoryhsicon.ico"
What I am wondering is would it be possible to store the .ico file within the DB file itself (i know access can store bitmaps) and reference the .ico in the form load event code?
Overtime the db file will probably move to its own dedicated storage so using a direct reference to the file wont work..
I have tried the following but get an error (it tries to reference the .ico file as to being in the root directory of the db file)
On a form I have multiple labels. In the Click event of all these labels I would like to call a generic function for futher processing. For this processing however, I need the caption of the label the user clicked on. How do I determine this caption?
I have a userform that pops up when I am implementing a VBA subroutine. The nature of the form is simply to update the user what progress through the operation the code is using a label called lblProgressText.
So, I have a form called frmProgress and in my loop I use:
The lblProgressText control just wont update (but earlier today it was so maybe I have broken something).Btw, all this code is run from a Module, not in the form object.
Okay, me again, on my DAP (Data Access Page) I have a piece of JavaScript that tells my page onload compare 2 dates. It's straight forward and all and my code works. That's actually where the problem is... When access loads my DAP up it builds the page, executes the javascript and THEN populates my fields with all the records. So my comparison javascript will always execute BEFORE the data loads into my DAP...
<body language=”javascript” onload=”colorBox();”>
<SCRIPT LANGUAGE=”javascript”> Function colorBox(){ If (Quarter1DueDateP1 >= Quarter1CompleteddateP1){ Box3.{background-color:Green;} } Elseif (Quarter1CompleteddateP1>=Quarter1DueDateP1){ Box3.{background-color:Red;} } Else { Box3.{background-color:Yellow;} } }
I am dynamically trying to set a control default value. I have the code below in the On Load event of the form. I get an error msg that says "Run-time error '2467': The expression you entered refers to an object that is closed or doesn't exist."
So I have a bound form with the following onload code:
Code: 'Add the percent completed to lblPercentCompleted by calling the function Dim Completed As Double
[code]...
This works fine and set the caption and color of a label on this form.On this form I have several (now only a few, but in the end probably 40 controls or so) which will get updated by the user. When any of these controls are updated, I want the label lblpercentCompleted to get updated with the propper caption and color, however I am having trouble doing this.
I have an afterupdate event on each control with the same code as the onload code, however the message box below appears but the label does not update.
Code: Private Sub TransferDieCutsOn_AfterUpdate() MsgBox "Updating Label" 'Add the percent completed to lblPercentCompleted by calling the function Dim Completed As Double
I have a data access page with an onload event for the window. All I want to do is go to a new record, update a date field with today's date and save the record. Here is the code:
When I load the page, I can see the date pop into the request_date field, but then it disappears. I made sure the value update code works by putting it on a different object's click event. The problem is when it's in the onload event for the window.
Is there something I'm missing about this event that prevents this from working? Thanks!
I have globally defined 'Progress' as integerer and using the following code on my splash screen - i want to add a "." to the end of the label caption until progress = 10 (10 timer events)
Private Sub Form_Load() Progress = 0 End Sub
Code: Private Sub Form_Timer() Dim Dot As String Dot = "." Progress = Progress + 1 Me.lblProgress.Caption If Progress = 10 Then DoCmd.OpenForm "frmLogin" DoCmd.Close acForm, "frmSplash" End If End Sub
I have a table that holds the SQL texts for ca. 1000 Select queries (mostly minor variants that are used to programmatically swap out RowSource strings for combo boxes). I'd like to have a quick and easy way to open/review/modify these queries.
One strategy would be to display the SQL strings in a field on a Datasheet form, then use an onClick event on a text box linked to the SQL-holding field (or perhaps an onClick event tied to an unbound text box on the form) to open the associated query. That would allow me to view the SQL of the query that I want to open, allow me to quickly scroll through the list of stored SQL texts, and give me options for sorting or limiting the SQL-texts displayed in the datasheet form.
But, I can't seem to get the onClick event to work. The problem seems to be that I can't figure out how to pass the SQL string contained in the field to a function that will use that string to open the query .
frmTaskTracker -subfrmInbox (Datasheet View - based on a query)
frmUpdateInboxItem
subfrmInbox displays a summary of tasks on a task list. The user navigates to frmUpdateInboxItem from frmTaskTracker. After updating a record from frmUpdateInboxItem, it is possible that it the record in question will no longer meet the requirements to have it listed on subfrmInbox.
I have attempted to add code to the on close event of frmUpdateInboxItem to requery the sub form on frmTaskTracker but am not getting the syntax correct.
correct my code? Alternatively is there is a more correct way to do this, I'd be happy to learn it.
Code: Option Compare Database Private Sub cmdClose_Click() Me.[frmTasktracker]![subfrmInbox].Requery DoCmd.Close acForm, "frmUpdateInboxItem" End Sub
I have a simple data entry form on which there are about 30 to 40 data fields to be update by users. One of the field is called "Stage" which is a combo box with 2 entries "Formal Case" and "Informal Case" with no default value whien a form is first opened.
Users will normally create a data entry which updates the table and save.
However if in future users open any one existing record and try to change Stage field from Informal to Formal or vice a versa I would then like this action to
1) update a time stamp concatinated with the stage change value in a text field perhaps
2) save/close the form
3) open a new form with all the existing entries(plus changed status of "Stage Field") with a new record ID and new time stamp.
I have an A2007 application running on XP. From main form, Form1, another form, Form2, is opened.
When I attempt to close the application by clicking in the cross in the rh-corner of Access window, I get a crash midway through the OnLoad of Form2. I cannot figure out why the heck the On Load event fires when the form is being closed, and have some difficulties stepping through the code.
I recall having heard of OnLoad firing when trying to close a Form.
There are around 100 customers. And on application open, need to check if customer has paid invoice. If the customer has paid/not paid need to change the status accordingly. Form on open event changes status of only the first customer.Form on current changes status only if we move to the specific record. Is there an event to trigger to check the entire table records on application open?
I have an access form of locations to manage (that are labelled Loc-01, Loc-02, Loc-03) and I'd like a label that automatically shows which record is currently open (rather than a text box). Is this possible? Or if that's not possible, I don't want the textbox to be editable in the form.
I have 2 forms: frmExcEntry and frmItemSearch. frmExcEntry is a data entry form where the associate enters PO#, Item#, Qty, etc. frmItemSearch is a popup form that is used to narrow the search of the Item# from frmExcEntry. Right now, when the associate types the Item# (either PartNo or FactNo)in the txtItemNo control on frmExcEntry, frmItemSearch opens (frmExcEntry remains open) with all potential item #'s associated with the text entered in [txtItemNo]...(there could be multiple FactNo in our inventory system but PartNo is unique and the bound field for the control). frmItemSearch uses an unbound textbox (txtSearch) that populates with the text from frmExcEntry on txtSearch_GotFocus and queries a listbox with the list of possible PartNo to select. I want the associate to be able to double-click the accurate PartNo from the list box which will then update the value initially typed in txtItemNo and copy the PartNo over txtItemNo in the currently open frmExcEntry.
I have a Form in which there is a textbox. I would like the name (caption) of the Form (that shows in the tab at the top of the form) to be named/updated to whatever is entered into the textbox.
