Forms :: Open Query Results In Unbound Subform
Oct 28, 2014
I have a main form (start_protocol) with an unbound subform (placeholderform).
Using a button in mainform I open a search form (search_protocol) inside the unbound form, by the code:
-------------------------------------------------------------------
[placeholderform1].Visible = False
[placeholderform].Visible = True
Me.placeholderform.SourceObject = "SEARCH_PROTOCOL"
--------------------------------------------------------------------
The search form (has a run query button) is build from a query named: search_protocol.
I want to be able, as soon as I pass the button, to have the results (from the query) inside the unbound subform, of the main form (Start_protocol).

I have a BE database, that when opened, opens a form for saving the results of a query to a text file on the desktop. It works fine, if the full path is entered.
The problem is, I want this saved on any users' desktop. I did some digging and found the %userprofile% variable, which when used, gives me the error.
I understand this should work in both Windows XP and Windows 7, which are the environments the full DB will operate in. So far the "EXPORT" button on the form has the following for the code:
Code:
Private Sub BTN_Export_Click()
DoCmd.TransferText acExportDelim, , "QRY_ExportPublicComment", "C:UsersMark N. McAllisterDesktopPubComExp.txt"
End Sub
When I tried this:
Code:
Private Sub BTN_Export_Click()
Dim strPath As String
strPath ="%userprofile%desktopPubComExp.txt"
DoCmd.TransferText acExportDelim, , "QRY_ExportPublicComment", strPath
End Sub
the error occurs.

I have a basic DB for recording supplier records, you enter a supplier ID and it performs Dlookups to run and display query results on the same form. That part works fine.
I've added a subform and linked it to an existing query which returns the suppliers top selling lines and the query picks up the supplier from the ID field on the main form, however when I enter a new id the subform doesn't update with the results specific to that supplier.
So I think I need a way of getting the subform to re-run the query each time I update the supplier ID field, but I can't see an option for this in the subform properties.

My Form is taking its results from a parameter query, and since my subform also has the same control source (the query).
It always prompts me twice, although not a major problem it is irritating!
Is there any way that when I type the search results once the sub form takes the results from the main form?
(P.S. The form asks me for parameters even when printing and saving, is there not a way that this can be stopped too by maybe taking the results off the current page?)

I have an unbound calculated field [Txt1] that I would like to show the result as currency. The fields in the calculation are:
[CR] number, currency
[Commission1] general number, two decimal places
[Commission2] general number, two decimal places
The calculation is: CR15W * (1 - Commission1) * (1 - Commission2)
If I just set the field to currency it works fine. But I want the field to show the following:
"Some Text" & " " & Format(Calculation, "Currency")
When I tried to include the format it to currency I get type mismatch, run time error 13.
So I thought that perhaps I should try the following just to see where my error starts and I get the same error message when I use:
Dim Val1 As String
Val1 = CR15W * (1 - Commission1) * (1 - Commission2)
Txt1 = Format(Val1, "Currency")
Everything I have read says the formula is:
Format([Calculation], "Currency")
Is correct. So why won't it work for me?

I have an unbound listbox in my details section of my form and it will display items from the database that I have selected. There are 19 in all. If I double click the row, the edit form pops up. If I right click I can sort the columns. I want to have a single click that allows the user to open the attachment in that list. I am not sure how to code this.

I have a bit of a problem with a database in Access 2013. On 1 of the forms, I have a number of buttons which open other forms and filter the results using an embedded macro. All has been well until a few days ago when error 2950 pop up box started appearing. After fiddling around for a while it all works OK (without actually changing anything) until next time the database is opened. I checked to make sure the location is "trusted" and all seems OK.

Working with Access 2000
I have a Continuous subform based on a query based on few linked tables.One of those tables has a Yes/No field which shows in the subform.
I want to be able to change the status of this field for each record independently, so I placed an unbound check box in the subform Detail section and a Command button on the subform Header section. However when I click one record check box, all of them change, I did not expect that. How do I move forward to get this done?

I have two unbound unlinked subforms residing on a 3rd unbound main form. When I enter the current record on Subform1 I would like the matching record(s) on Subform2 to be highlighted or otherwise formatted. I can get this to work for only the first record on subform2 due to the way I have my code setup on Subform1:
Code:
Private Sub Accounting_Unit_Enter()
'find where AUs match. only works for first Subform2 record
If Me.[Accounting Unit] = Forms!MainForm.[Subform2]!AccountingUnit Then
msgbox "Match"
End If
End Sub
My thought was that I needed to reference the Recordset of Subform2 and search for all AccountingUnits that match the current AccountingUnit of Subform1,

have set up a navigation form which contains 5 unbound subforms that are made visible or not visible thru the on click event of command buttons on the main form, the subforms have a command button with an embedded macro that searches for a record based on what has been keyed to an unbound text box on the subform, this works fine when the sub forms are opened independently of the navigation form but when the search is done from within the main form, the error message is, "....cannot find the referenced from frmAQIFAList" subform, I tried referencing the main form name infront of the subform name but this also doesn't work, perhaps this would be better with code ? or is it because the subforms are unbound ?

I have a listbox "lbxMP" that holds names of forms and a subform "ctrlMP" that opens selected form (ctrlMP.sourceobject = lbxMP). I also have some various master cbx that control criteria in each form. I am trying to create a button that will not only clear/null all the cbx values (which works fine), but I am having a hard time telling me.ctrlMP to go back to null or unbound (i want it to blank out the subform to make it look fresh). I have tried requry and also me.ctrlMP = null and ctrlMP=unbound with no luck.

I have a tabbed form from which the user can select a contact's record from a subform on the first tab, click a edit command button, and the unbound text boxes on the top of that tab populate. The user can then click the second tab with employment history which has blank unbound text boxes and another subform which is linked by the contact id to the first tab.
The user can select a record in the second tab, click a command button and the text boxes populate no problem. The problem comes when the user changes the contact on the first tab, and then tries to edit a record on the second tab. Then I get a run-time error '-2147352567 (80020009)' saying the value you entered isn't valid for this field. Why it would work the first time by not the second?

I have two unbound subforms on an unbound "display form". I managed to link the two subforms by following this method: [URL] This is great and works well enough, however, by design, subform2 will only display records relevant to the very first record on subform1. I need subform2 to be filtered based on ALL of the relevant records being displayed in subform1 not just the first one.
Previously, subform2 was based on a query using subform1's records as criteria, but this gave me the same result.

On my subform the field is not big enough to show all of the data if it gets large. Is there a way to add a scroll bar to this field on my qery so it will appear on the subform so the user can scroll down if necessary to see more of the text in this field?

Hi,
This is a Query / Forms question...
I have 2 tables setup with a 1 to many relationship, simialr to 1 Customer having 1 or more orders. I created a query to prompt for all orders for a particular customer. I then created a form based on this query - i.e. linked the query to a form.
Now when I open the form I am prompted for the customer id and when I enter this all of the results of the query are displayed in 1 form. However, this is not what I want. I would like the orders for the customer to be displayed within a subform on the actual form. In this way the customer details will static and I can cycle through the customer orders in the subform separately.
Is there any way I can setup my query to display the results in this way? I need the prompt for the customer ID. Or is there any way I can setup the form to display the results in the above way?
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks

If there's a post out there that addresses this, please point me in that direction as I've had no luck.
I have my queries listed in a table. On my form I have them listed in my combo box. The user selects the query they want and hits the command button "Run". I would like to show the selected query in a subform on the main form and then give the user the option of selecting another command button to export the query to Excel.
I thought it would be as simple as setting the recordsource of the subform to the query name in my combo box, but that doesn't work.
Current code to run query in separate window:
Command button "Run"
Private Sub Command9_Click()
DoCmd.OpenQuery Me.Combo2.Column(1)
Attempt at getting what I want:
Privat Sub_Command9_Click()
Forms!frmQuerySelection!sfrmQuery.Recordsource = Me.Combo2.Column(1)
or perhaps
sfrmQuery.Recordsource = Me.Combo2
Am I even close?
Thanks

I have created a query with parameters keyed in from unbound textboxes on a form. Does anyone know of a way to display the results (queried) in the sub-form of the same form (main) the textboxes reside? I have the query set up to create a table but when I use that table (or the query itself) in the subform I get the error message:
"The database engine could not lock table "tablename" because it is already in use by another person or process."
This seems appropriate because I am querying for results, but is there any way to get the results of a query into a form, rather than the more common pop up datasheet? I have tried several macros to open and close the tables - queries - copied tables ..re-opened forms....etc, but can't get it to work.
Thanks, for any help, I have spent some time on this one!!!

I am having an issue with the sort order on a subform.
Basically I have a main form with Client Details and a subform hich displays the associated test results for this client. Each client can have multiple test results which should be displayed in date order.
Initially the form was based on the table 'TestResults' and I set up the form with the Orderby property set to the field 'TestDate' and OrderByOnLoad set to True. This didn't work and the records were displayed in random order.
Next I tried setting up the form based on an SQL query with the field 'TestDate' sorted in Ascending order - same result. Tried this with OrderBy and OrderByOnLoad both set/unset as a pair and individually - always the same result.
How can I get the subform to display the test results in date order?

i've got a Form that contains Subform with an embedded Query that contains 2 tables only (Payments & Invoices) the Join properties between them show all records from payments and what matches it from Invoices where the joined fields are equal (Invoice no).. So, when i enter certain data in the main form the Subform show the results for it from Payments table and only one field needed from the Invoices table !!
The problem is.. i can't edit or add any data in the Subform results with the previous setting, but when i completely remove the Invoices table from the embedded Query then swift to the Form and it's Subform.. i become able to edit and add data in the Subform easily... !!
So, how to enable the edit/add in the Subform with the 2 tables in the embedded Query ?! Cause it's really needed to show that field from the Invoices table.

I have a Main form with a sub form.The main form is a customer record (form view), and the sub form is all other customers (same fields) datasheet view.I have a navigation bar to filter (using different queries) the results in the sub form
same postcode
Same company (different location)
everyone except Main form customer
I cannot get a different filter (Query) to show only customers whose name begins with the same letter as the customer in the main form?I have been trying Like but think I am referencing it wrong, as it prompts me to enter a value rather than using the value in the field in the main form.This is what I have in the query (of the subform)
Customer ID: <>[Forms]![NewAllCustomerListF]![CustomerID]
Customer Name: Like "[Forms]![NewAllCustomerListF]![CustomerName]" & "*"

I created a main form containing list boxes and a subform. What I want to do is to select items in the list boxes. Then, by clicking "Search" button, the data filtered by the selected items will be shown in the subform. But the subform cannot work and show the query results. I think I miss some VBA codes.
