I've msgbox'd the txtProblemID and the correct ID is being passed. Where I fall into an error is on the frmUserInformation's onLoad event which uses the ID form the frmUserInformation.txtUserID box. The error I get is "Syntax error (missing operator in query expression '[fldUserID]='."
What I've narrowed it to is the timing between the docmd.openform and the onload of the form. I've tried changing the onload to be on activate - and it just opens empty.
how to get the docmd to open the form correctly before the onload tries to fire?
Self tought in Access07 but I'm trying to do the following:
I've got a form (Clients_F) that has a subform in datasheet view with a list of quote numbers made by each customer, I have managed to make a Macro after a few hours and googling, that opens another form (Quotes_F) so that it can be edited when a quote number is clicked, but I wish to be able to open Quotes_F as a new record when the empty field under the numbers column in the list is clicked.
Also want to know if it's possible to mantain the Customer's details pre-filled?...I am guessing that this is done through the CustomerID(PK & FK)?
I changed the name of a form referenced in the Autoexec macro from "frmLogin" to "frmLoginPW". However when I Open Access 2010 instead of Form "frmLoginPw" opening I get a message box saying that the system can't find "frmLogin". If I do a search through all the code in the project there is NO reference to "frmLogin" as I changed any code to refer to "frmLoginPW" and recompiled the project.
I can not get rid of this error and if I press the OK button on this error message ( from MS Access not my error coding) the "frmLoginPw" opens and the code in the form works. (Password authentication etc etc.). I deleted the AutoExec macro and remade the macro and referred it to the new form "frmLoginPW", this did not work. I loaded the Accdb file using the Run command and the /Decompile command line parameter to no effect.
Not sure if this is not a stupid question, but when I try to open two forms with controls that have the same underlying control source, I encounter a message that say "the table is locked and cannot be malnipulated pregrammatically", or "the table you tried to open is being used, please wait a while before trying again." Is there anyway around it at all?
I have a Form opening from Access Options. I would like to close this Form using the Timer. The following is the code I have used but it is not working.
Private Sub Cover_Page_Form_Load() OpenTimer = Timer End Sub Private Sub Cover_Page_Form_Timer() If (Timer - OpenTime) = 5 Then DoCmd.Close acForm, "Cover_Page_Form", acSaveYes End Sub
Next question. If I can get this to work can I then use a DoCmd to open new Form within the code above or do I need a new process.
1. The code below should equal the Current Month 2. It does not close the form if no data.
PHP Code: If DLookup("[CurMonth]", "tblEmpEvaluation") = Format(DateSerial(Year(Date), Month(Date), Day(Date)), "mmmm ") DoCmd.OpenForm "frmEvalNotice" End If
PHP Code: If DLookup("[CurMonth]", "tblEmpEvaluation") <> Format(DateSerial(Year(Date), Month(Date), Day(Date)), "mmmm ") Then 'No Data. NotWorking? DoCmd.Close acForm, "frmEvalNotice" End If
Is it possible to open an Excel FILE using a macro, if so could someone shed some light on this? I know how to open Excel itself using RunApp but it doesnt work with files.
I have a form in Datasheet view and when you click on a record in that form I want it to take you to a report with all the details of that record number. I have the On Click event set to run a Macro. The Macro is as follows:
OpenReport Report Name Incident Report View Report Filter Name Open Where Condition =[Event ID]=[Reports]!Incident Report]![Event ID] Window Mode Normal
This Where Condition works for me open another form from the form with the same Event ID. Why does it come to a "new" Incident on the report?
I have a form and subform. The main form shows some customer details, and the continuous sub form shows that customer's charity donations. The code below runs when the form opens, and binds ADO recordsets to the two forms. The binding appears to be successful.
However whatever I do I can't make the subform update correctly to show the relevant customer donations. For example, when I use the **'d lines to update the link child/master fields, I get a "Data Provider Could Not Be Initialized" error.
Code:
Private Sub Form_Load() Dim cn As New ADODB.Connection Dim rsCust As New ADODB.Recordset Dim rsDons As New ADODB.Recordset
I have a form based on a query. I'd like to add a search box to the top to look up values and then populate the rest of the form. I can't do it with the combo box wizard because the relevant (third) option doesn't show up, I assume that's because the form is based on a query not a table.
I have a number of forms that are bound to recordsets as follows:
Dim rs As New adodb.Recordset
sqlQuery = "Select * from myTable" rs.Open sqlQuery, sqlCNN, adOpenKeyset, adLockOptimistic Set Me.Recordset = rs Set rs = Nothing
In Access 2003, users could open these forms and filter on basically any field by using the right click-> Text Filters functionality.
In Access 2010, this functionality appears to work (users can apply the filter and the Toggle Filter button in the ribbon shows a filter is applied), but all of the records are still visible in the form.
Any work-around that does not involve redesigning the form to be non-recordset bound?
I'm using Access 2007. I've created a table with two fields. "Novice and Recertification" as in combo box.
I put it on the form. Now the idea is when a user clicks Recertification, it shows up on the report. When the user clicks on Novice, it should be empty on report (Reason why I want to keep novice is so that we have a record of it.)
Now the challenge is I added another column, empty field for Novice and Recertification for Recertification. Thing is if I set the bound column, I select on an empty field on form and it will be empty on report. But I want the user to see Novice on the form and it must not show on the report.
So I'm not new to Access but I am to 2010. It has been a bit "challenging". Here's my first question:
1.) I'm trying to search on a field by using a command button. I basically want to click the button and the following message pops up: Enter MRN.
2.) When the MRN is entered, I would like the form to filter on all records that have this MRN.
3.) In old versions of Access, I would create a Macro for this and then call the Macro in the form.
4.) I've tried the FindRecord action in the Macro but it does not work. I actually came across several actions that don't seem to be working properly (getting error messages).
5.) In my head, this should be one of the EASIEST things to do. I've done this before in several different databases. I will admit it has been a few years since I have used Access for this (ie. building forms, macros etc.). I've primarly used it to pull in a data set and then run some queries to get the data I need quickly versus using Excel.
I have a form AddNewEquipment. This is bound to a table, EquipmentDetails.
EquipmentDetails has a Yes/No field, 'ParentChoice'. So when EquipmentDetails.ParentChoice = Yes, I want to open up a new text box, AddNewEquipment.ParentDescr, into which someone can put some text. This text I want to append as a new row in a different table, ParentList.ParentName. (that table also has an autonumber field)
I only want to do the save when I save the whole form.
Is this something like using an On Lost Focus event from the ParentDescr field which only invokes when the overall form save button is clicked? What would I put in the On Lost Focus event.
I have a report that generates 100 items in alphabetical order. All of the items are also displayed in a table. I have a bound form attached to the that table, and when the items appear they are not in alphabetical order. Therefore, it is a hassle typing in the data when the form will not appear in order, because instead of going in order I am flipping through pages. What is causing this to happen? And what can I do to fix this?
I was wondering if anybody knew a way to disable the security warning in Access that pops up saying "This file may not be safe if it contains code that was intended to harm your computer. Do you want to open this file or cancel the operation?"
If possible, I'd like to disable the message for just my database, but we currently don't use any other database anyway, so I'm not too concerned with turning it off completely if that's all I can do. I'm sure there has to be an option somewhere to not check for macros or something, but I can't find it.
If anyone knows how to do this or if you know that it is not possible, please let me know.
I am working on a web database with a form which is bound to an underlying web table where the submissions occur. My challenge is that the fields on the form get submitted to the table even before the submit button is clicked regardless of whether the form was completely filled.
My request is that I want the form to only submit to the submission table only when the submit button is clicked. When I searched on the net, the only solutions I got are VBA written code but my web database cannot use VBA code.
VBA code:
Option Compare Database Option Explicit Private blnGood As Boolean Private Sub cmdSave_Click() blnGood = True Call DoCmd.RunCommand(acCmdSaveRecord) blnGood = False End Sub
I have been tasked with creating a tool to analyse mobile phone bill data and present the analysis, and our recommendation, to a customers. Being new to Access (other than basic tuition) this has been a slow uphill task, which is finally nearing completion, however there is a problem which I have not yet been able to overcome.
The requirement is for the DB to open first on a splash screen (lets call it Form A) with fancy picture where our customer is selected from a combo box, the customer is then telephoned, a linked computer screen is established and our staff then click "Go" to proceed to a second form (Form B) showing an account overview and more details.
The problem I have is when "Go" is clicked, the second form loads via on click event, and even populates the correct customer in its combo box. Unfortunately that is as far as it gets - the combo does not look up the information. The customer needs to be selected again for the subforms and subreports to load with the customer overview. To clarify, form B just sits there blank until the customer is re-selcted from the combo box in form B.
I have a button using a macro to open a form in Hidden mode. Then I have another button on another form to open this form that was hidden.
When I open the form, the form is virtually blank apart from the form caption name. But when I close this and press the button again the form opens as normal.
I do not understand why?
I was told that once you hide the form and when you open the form again, it should appear normal. Why do I get this blank form??? Only by hitting the button again then the form is normal....
I've managed to create a multi-user login form with macro.
user1 is able to login with his password and user2 is able to login with his password. latter I noticed that user1 is able to login with any password in the table and use his previous password to login even after changing it.
I have a continuous form that lists a group of records in a main form based on a query. On each line of this continuous form, there is a button that can be clicked to open the main form based on that record.
This works fine, although it filters the recordset to just that one record. What else do I need to apply the same recordset that is in the continuous form, so the user can also scroll through the records on the main form if they so wish to?
I want them to be able to click on the button in the continuous form, open the form to that record, but also give them the ability to scroll to the other records that were listed in the continuous form. The continuous form I mentioned is its own form seperate from the main form.
I'm trying to get a combo box & button to work together. On the main form of the attached database, I just want the button to go to the associated record based off my selection (or entry) in the combo box.
I've tried the following:
- Looked through the Northwind sample database for a close example. Tried my best to replicate the functions but it didn't work - Looked through other examples posted and tried to manipulate the code to no avail - Tried using [Forms]![Main Form]![cmbLastName] in both the filter & criteria section of the macro
I am using Access 2010 - Version 14.0.61.29.5000 (32-bit)
I am building a custom Export Wizard to export data to Excel using the Report Wizard for the basic ideas.
All I am trying to do is have a [Back] button on a form to open another form and close the current form.
Private Sub cmdBack_Click() DoCmd.OpenForm "frm_ExportWizardPage2", , , , , , Nz(Me.OpenArgs) DoCmd.Close acForm, "frm_ExportWizardPage3" End Sub
The new form is opening but then the current form is not closing. All forms are the same size, shape and positioned centrally although this should not make any difference.
Could this be anything to do with which form has the focus when I open the new form?
I have backend/frontend database with several front end users who enter their activity on a daily basis. I need each front end to only show their own entries. I have an ID table with each staff name and ID. In the form I have asked it to open only specifically to a staff ID with this requirement in the properties. I have also set this in the field [ID2] itself.
[Forms]![frm_Ownership_ID].[ID2]
My problem is that when the database/navigation form opens, it always asks for the ID in a message box.How do I stop this from happening i.e. just open the database with specified staff ID.
