Forms :: Open Form From (Edit List Items) Option In Data Entry Mode
Feb 4, 2014I have several comboboxes in my database from which users select values. However, in most cases, I do want to give them the option to add an item that does not appear while simultaneously updating the underlying table which stores those dropdown values. I have made use of the builtin "allow edit list items" feature of Access 2007 but the form always opens on the first record of the form on which they are to add the new item. Is there a way to specify that it should open in Data Entry view apart from using VBA?

Apr 10, 2015I am doing a worksheet for college and have been asked to create option groups on a form, but I cannot work out how to do this.
The screenshot shows what I have to do but I cannot get the option group wizard to open.
When creating my form based on the design in the screenshot I dragged the Rate field onto the design view sheet but it has only one option button connected to it, I need to add another one that will be connected to the same field and am not sure how to do it. I did try adding another option button from the control bar but I am not sure if is connected to the same field with the correct yes/no properties.

Feb 2, 2014I have a query that i need to run from a form. From form I need to pass criteria
1 for canada
2 for us
1 and 2 for us and Canada
The criteria needs to go into field Pricing Type. If user selects 1 then only Pricing Type 1 will display. If user selects 2 than only Pricing Type 2 should display. I user selects both , Pricing Type 1 and 2 should be listed.
Can this be achieved with option group?
Forms :: Adding Search Option In Main Form
Jun 25, 2013I have two tables called "tblFundingBodies" and "tblGrants". I have a form that allows me to view all the records for each of the funding bodies. By this I mean, it shows information on a funding body but to see information on the next funding body, I must click on the next record button. Just wanted to clarify that it isn't in the form of a table.
This form also has a subform in the same format that shows each of the grants that funding body has provided. When I select the next record from the main form, it will show me the grants from the company in the next record. The field that has the funding body is a text box.
I want to be able to add a seach facility to the main form that allows me to search for a funding body and get back exactly what I have described above, but just the details on that funding body/grants. In other words, I want the form view of the funding body I search for with the sub form of the grants from that funding body, not in the form of a table where you can see them all at once, I want to be able to click through each grant in the sub form.
Forms :: Expandable Form Option - Show More Fields
Jul 28, 2014I have a form that I want to expand to show more fields depending on whether a user decides to or not.
Basically there will be 5 fields that a user always completes for this form, however depending on whether they answer yes or no on the final field I want it to expand the form and have some further fields that need completing.
If they select yes it should expand, if they select no then the form is complete.
What are some possible ways of achieving this?
Printing Open Report And Turning Off 2 Sided Option
Aug 21, 2014I am trying to create a button on a report that prints out the report. The default option for 2 sided printing is true on all computers at the office. I am looking for the command how to do this, whether I have to find each computer's default printer options or what.
How to adjust this besides going into printer settings and changing the defaults manually.

Sep 30, 2013i have a standard database with tblProducts, order, employees, customers, suppliers etc. i also have a table called tblperson with personID which acts as a one, with the many in three different tables (customers, suppliers and employee) the person table holds data such as first name last name address city postcode and phone. now, ive created a form called frmPerson that acts as a adding data to my database. ive got a load of buttons a working add, delete and a save button, i also have the option to switch through records next, last, end and first. now basically in this form i want to be able to add data i.e. fill out the text boxes and then have a combo box or something similiar that when i add the data i can basically click an option the says 'employee' 'supplier' or 'customer' and then the data gets added to my person table however the difference is that it will also be associated to the record in the wanted table.

General :: Cannot Open Database Error When Make Table Option Selected
Sep 28, 2012I linked table rawdata from a database called competitor from a ODBC Database. I run a query with to make a table with a criteria where it retrieves roughly 10 columns with 719,000 rows. And it gives me this error.
(Cannot open database". It may not be a database that your application recognizes, or the file may be corrupt.
I asked the creator of the database and they said the database grows automatically and it was created with the same Access version as i am using to run the query.
Also when I do a RUN without creating a table and just selecting and displaying the data it does not give me any issues.
Forms :: Option Group - Warn User When Neither Of 2 In Option Group Not Ticked?
Jul 25, 2013I stumbled upon the Option Group function just yesterday and, happy as a clam, I created a group with 2 options in radio button style. I assigned the values to a field called Registration_Type as the 2 options are "Confirmed Registrants" and "Prospective Attendees".
[Great. That part works well. When I look at the table, a 1 or a 2 is in that field so it's great to know how to control accidental ticking of radio buttons (previous 450 records or so didn't have this option group functionality so one might easily tick one of the buttons. So one part of controlling option group I know I can handle via the table itself for now.]
The challenge is how to ensure the user always ticks one or the other ... I went back to the main table and tested the 'required entry' option for the Registration_Type field but forcing an action like this is not ideal in my mind. The usual error message vagueness for the average user is no good and I don't want to limit the user so much.
Is there a way to simply have a popup come up warning that neither radio button was ticked? Perhaps something linked to the form - i.e., maybe "after update"?? I only learned about attaching code to before and after update on controls a couple of days ago, so not sure if this would be best approach.
Just something to let the user know that nothing has been ticked in the option group as that controls in which of 2 reports the data will show up in so any record not ticked might mean a registrant being left out, which would be rather disastrous <g>.

Mar 26, 2013Basically I have a Customer Form, which I have a New party button on it,this button opens up the party form to a new party, what I would like it to do is open up a new party but make the new party for the customer I had selected in the previous form.I have tried the GoTo macro's but cannot seem to get it to work.
I am thinking on clicking the button it will need to get the Customer ID, and then open the party form, create new party, and paste in the Customer ID, which then updates the Name - Date - Address - Company Fields.

Now, my boss does not want users to add/delete on this sub form(datasheet). So,he wants me to create buttons to open new record of staff for each restaurant(new form)

Jul 30, 2014I have a continuous form in which I put a command button for each record called "detail". I would like to click on the "detail" button and make it open another form containing all (and only) the info on this record.
At first I refused to use an "id" to link both forms, but finally I added the "id" in the table... however still does not work.

May 3, 2013I'm working on the Navigation Form template in Access 2010, which is new to me. It appears that one needs to use the BrowseTo command to open up a form in the built-in subform module. I'm trying to create a couple of buttons where each button opens a form in a different data mode; one in read-only and one in add mode. Here is the syntax I used for read-only:
DoCmd.BrowseTo acBrowseToForm, "frmSales","frmNavigation.NavigationSubform", , ,acFormReadOnly
frmSales is the Sales form I want both of the buttons to open and frmNavigation is the Navigation form. It seems to be ignoring the data mode part at the end however. It only will open in Edit mode. Is there something I'm doing wrong with this command?

Apr 2, 2014I have a main form[frmResearchNotes] with combo box controls that filters a query populating [subfrmNotelist] containing several records from the filtered query. From there, I double click on a field within one of the remaining records, [CompanyName] for example, and it opens the new form[frmNoteDetail]. The problem is that second form is not displaying that selected record. The second form's record source has been set to the same query so when it loads, it displays the same info but it's displaying the 1st record out of the entire filtered list, not the record I clicked on in that list.
I figured I could use the strWhere function to copy the record I selected in the event procedure and then open the new form with those details. Not sure how to actually do this with VBA or if it's even the correct approach.

I have 2 tables. The first is tblAccount (fields: AccountID [the PK]; AccountHolder) and the 2nd is tblUser (fields: UserID [the PK]; UserName; AccountID). They are linked so that one account can have multiple users. Each has a respective form; frmAccount and frmUser.
My goal is that once the AccountHolder field has been populated in frmAccount I can click a button to open frmUser with the AccountID field already showing in the form header.
I have managed to do something similar by selecting from a combo box before but I am having trouble making this work after directly populating the AccountHolder field and using an open Form button.

Oct 23, 2014I'm trying to open a form with a subform from a separate form. I've never had any issue before, but all of the sudden, the subform doesn't seem to open immediately. I get the error
