I spent several hours but looks like I can't pop up a message in a form when the cursor pointer is on a specific object. Focus of cursor maybe somewhere else, but when I move the cursor with mouse and it reaches to a specific object, I want the object to display a message. I couldn't do it.
Hi, Is it possible to get the cursor to change on a OLE object like it does on an Hyperlink? How know that you can do that with a text box with the "Is hyperlink" Format property or by adding a space in "the hyperlink address" of a command button but I can't see any property that I can change for an Ole object or a label. Is someone know if it would be possible?
Is there an automatic way of moving the cursor when an outlook email is opened using a VBA event??
Right had a look and haven't managed to google this yet but the background is as follows
I have some code that puts a recordset of people's email into outlook and leaves users with the outlook message open ready for them to append anything they want to the message body.
At the moment the cursor flashes at the very start of the message and users need to scroll down with keys or the mouse to the end before they can add additional text.
I want to automatically move the cursor to the end of the outlook email message opened using a VBA event?
i am trying to call another form's object event.. and i am receiving error mesage "object required". Any ideas anyone? here is my statement:Call frmMain.cmdOK_ClickI do have both subs, the one being called and the one that this statement is in, both as public.thanks in advance!
I'm trying to display an image which is saved in the table as an OLE Object in a message box. The field with the object is "PowerCurve". This is what I'm trying to do. It allows me to get as far as clicking yes to view the second message box but then it results in an error when it tries to display the image.
Code:
Dim strDetails As String strDetails = DLookup("Details", "ExistingDeviceDetailsQ") Dim strCurve As String strCurve = DLookup("PCurve", "DeviceT", "DeveloperProduct = '" & Forms!DeviceF!D_ExistingDeviceCmb & "'") If strCurve = "No" Then MsgBox strDetails, , "Device Details"
[code]....
I get the error "Object variable or With block variable not set" on the line
I am currently building a database for the company I work for that is fairly similar to the Northwind Database; however it is made from scratch so hopefully some of the common problems with that database won't find their way into mine.My problem is that when I go to my Orders form, I pick a customer from the main form, which creates a record on the Orders table. When I then go to the subform to choose a product/line item, I get the error in my title ("The LinkMasterFields property setting has produced this error: 'The object doesn't contain the Automation object 'OrdersT.") as soon as a product is chosen from the drop down list.
When I put some wrong value in the field the cursor not stay in the same filed its skip to next field. The code is as under:-
Private Sub RollNo_BeforeUpdate(Cancel As Integer) If (RollNo.Value > 1) Or (RollNo.Value < 22) Then MsgBox "Roll No is Wrong, Please Type correct Roll No" Cancell = True End If End Sub
The RollNo is numeric field. How to stop the cursor in the box if I put wrong number.
I have a form (Home_Interview_Form) with several subforms (AirFresheners, Pesticides1 etc), and I would like the cursor to move from the last field in one subform to the first field in the next subform on keydown. I have written the following code, but instead of sending the cursor to the first field (PestSpray) it is going to the next field (PestSprayCom) in the subform for some reason. I am using Access 2013.
Private Sub Fresh2React_KeyDown(KeyCode As Integer, Shift As Integer) Forms!Home_Interview_Form!Pesticides1.SetFocus Forms!Home_Interview_Form!Pesticides1.Form!PestSpr ay.SetFocus End Sub
I launch a 'CreateNewRecords' form from a 'MainForm' form. When the 'CreateNewRecords' form closes, the new record is visible on 'Main Form'.The underlying query is unsorted, so this code in the AfterUpdate event of 'CreateNewRecords' puts the cursor on the last record displayed on 'MainForm', which is the newly created record:
Forms!frmMainForm.Requery With Forms!frmMainForm.RecordsetClone .MoveLast Forms!frmMainForm.Bookmark = .Bookmark End With
However, I intend to sort the underlying query, which means that a newly created record may appear in the middle of the records displayed on 'MainForm'.
What I want to have happen is that after a new record is created by 'CreateNewRecords', the underlying query is requeried so that all current records are displayed on 'MainForm' but also that the cursor rests on the newly created record (rather than default to the first record).
I have created a button that takes the contents of a memo field and adds a new line of text at the top with the date, time and initials of staff member. So far, so good...
However I want it to end with the cursor ready at the end of the first line (to type the note) The following code does everything but ends by putting the cursor right at the end of all of the text in the memo field (instead of the end of the first line):
I have checked the tab order and have cycle for my form set to = all records (but have also tried current record). After I update one of any of my textboxes in the details section and then click or tab into the next box, the cursor jumps back to the first record, first field.
Issue with Cursor moving on multi Subforms in a form.
I have 2 sub-forms in a main form as per screenshot. So Cursor moving from main form to 1st subform working well. After can't move the cursor from 1st subform to 2nd subform with tabbing or entering. Still there in 1st Subform in the last entered filed after tabbing or entering. I've checked on tab orders also they shown correct but it is can't move to 2nd subform.
I have a continuous subform on my main form where one text box is a hyperlink that opens a form. All is well, except....
When the mouse hovers over the text box of the top record, the cursor does not change to the hyperlink pointed finger thing (it's I-beam), even though the text in the textbox displays in hyperlink format.
If I hover over the hyperlink/text boxes of records 2 thorough x, the hand-cursor appears.
More info: 1. The hyperlink functions normally (i.e., the appropriate form opens to the appropriate record) 2. When I then return to the main form, the hand-cursor magically appears when hovering the first record. 3. I have 2 other continuous subforms on the same main form that behave the same way.
On main form cursor working is goods as per default. But after come to in Subform its shown the cursor position in the last filed. So every new record is shown as the same last field. How to do this cursor position will be change in subform as per default?? and every new record its need to show as per default TabIndex "0".
I have checked my Tab Index & Order Settings also it is good. But its shown as last filed in subform
Hi Gang, I'm new to this forum so please bare with me. I have spent the last two days trying to resolve, or work out why on earth I am getting this error message. I am at the point of pulling my hair out - its SO frustrating so *any* suggestion would be great. I have created a small database for plant (as in flowers) details. To cut a long story short, its a simple db fronted by a form that allows me to display and add records together with an associated image (stored outside the db). I was trying to write some code that would look at the control that displays the image and, if there is no image associated with a particular record, it would display an "add new image" button. If there is an associated image, the buttons visable property is set to false. I had ammended a section of code for the forms "on current" event and saved the changes. I then changed to form view, tried to enter a new record and access throws up the error message. It does not matter which field I try to add data in, the same error still happens. I have checked, and re-checked all my code and property settings for every control and field on the form and I can not track down what is causing this error. I noticed from searching this forum that someone else had this error but the resolution does not appear to have been posted so can anyone help in any way at all. My grateful thanks, Kenny
I have several comboxes where I'm using date/time input masks. When I go to enter data in the field the cursor is situated at the right end of the box. I have to backspace to the beginning of the field to enter the data. How do I position the cursor to the beginning (left side) of the field?
I made an On Change Procedure on a textbox, so everytime I input a character, it will trigger the Me.Requery.
However, after that the event, the mouse cursor moved to the beginning of other field. I want it to stay at the end of the textbox so I can enter a full word, how do I do that?
Code:
Private Sub Text73_Change() ProjectSearch = Me.Text73 Me.Filter = "[Project Name] Like " & Chr(34) & ProjectSearch & "*" & Chr(34) Me.FilterOn=True Me.Requery End Sub
I have a form developed with Access 2000.with command buttons I built using the standard command button wizard for navigation, new record, copy record, save record etc. I have a few small VB scripts associated with these buttons- mostly message boxes. I had to upgrade from Win 2000 Pro to Win XP Pro and Office 2003. Now whenever any of the buttons are selected, I get a message box stating "Object required"...even if all I want to do is navigate from one record to another. Another person uses this DB too. They have not had any updates and are still running 2000 Pro and Office 2002. I can still add records etc, but this message is annoying and doesn't exactly instill confidence in the application
I ran the ToolsDB UtilitiesCompact & Repair utility with no positive results. I couldn't find anything in the archives. Does anyone out there want to guess why this just started to happen, what caused it and most of all, how I resolve the problem?
Looking to create two command buttons or two keystrokes sets in an Access 2007 form that will allow me to place a current date and time in any allowable field where the Cursor is presently placed. Similar to what was in Access 2000, ctl: (for the current date) and ctl shift : (for the current time).
When I attempt to create a new DB - by performing Blank Database I immediately get a message 'Object Library not registered'.
If I 'OK' that box and try to create a table, I can do so - create Table in design view.
When I then try to Import external data - an excel file I get the message 'ActiveX component Can't create object'.
I have looked ob various sites for help and forum information regarding these errors but have found nothing conclusive, with specidfic regard to Access 2003.
The version has been loaded on my machine about 1 year as part pf Office Professional but this is the first time I have attempted to run Access itself.
Does any forum member have any ideas as to how this problem could be resolved.
I have a form "WorksheetList" that has a list of records upon which when one selects a record a new form opens "Worksheet" with the data from "WorksheetList" everything seemed to be working fine then suddenly I get the error "Method 'item' of object 'forms' failed"... Here's my code:
I have an unbound form, with a subform datasheet (sfmStaffDS) - not linked to the parent form, which displays a list of all staff. There is another subform (sfmStaff), which displays data based on a field in the form which takes its value from the DA subform. To add a staff member I press the button and this clears the fields down as expected.
However, when I start entering data (in the First NAme field), I get the error as stated in the title. Interestingly, I can carry on and the data gets saved as 'normal'.I have used this technique before with success, except that the DS subform is linked to a value on the parent form.
I'm building a simple database for storing records about books.
I'm currently working on one of the data entry forms. Part of this form is supposed to enable the user to add details about the book and the series that it belongs to (if it does belong to one).
The relationship is One-to-Many: One series can have many books. I've made the series part a sub form.
When I enter some data to test that it works, I get an error message when I try to add a new series using the sub form. It says:
"You can't assign a value to this object. *The object may be a control on a read-only form. *The object may be on a form that is open in Design view. *The value may be too large for this field."
As far as I know there isn't anything wrong, so I'm not certain why this error message comes up. I think it may have something to do with the primary key being the AutoNumber data type, but I just click 'OK' and ignore it, and it works fine.
The database works as far as I can see, I just want the error message to stop appearing.
