I am trying to populate the text boxes in a form with data from a table based on the selection a user has made in a combobox. I am trying to do this through a DLOOKUP in the text boxes Control Source using the following:

I have a form called frmPO based on a table called tblPO One of the fields in tblPO is linked to the field idAddress in the table tblAddresses
The following fields exist in both tblAddresses and tblPO
Company
Address1
Address2
City
ZP
State
The form contains controls for these fields on tblPO. I would like to give the user the choice to either enter a shipping address manually, or selecting a preregistered address from tblAdresses. For this I would like a combo box showing the values of idAddress. I f a user selects a preregistered shipping address, I would like the form to fill the rest of the fields based on the value of this control.
My understanding is that I should set a BeforeUpdate event to set the values of the different controls, unfortunately my command of VBA amounts to 0.
I have two tables: tblWeightTickets and tblWasteType.
I want to create a form: frmWeightTickets, where a user can enter information and the data is stored in tblWeightTickets.
There are two fields in particular that I am working on ... "WasteType" and "Rate".
On the form, I want "WasteType" to be a combobox "cboWasteType" and when I select a type of waste I want the "Rate" textbox on the same form to auto populate with the rate amount for that particular type of waste (i.e. recycling, garbage, etc).
The Rate amount is located in the table: tblWasteType under the field name "Rate". How can I do this and at the same time store the information in the tblWeightTickets? I already have the combo box loaded with the types of waste - I just need it to populate the rate text box and store it in the Weight Tickets table.
I am trying to populate multiple text boxes from combo box using one table. First text box is getting populate on base of combo box value while 2nd text box is not getting populating.
I have used the following to populate the text boxes, even row count is correct, But why is not 2nd text box is not populating ?

One thing I noted when I provide the control source then selection gets stop from combo box...I am giving the valid control source is customerID but its not working.Could it be the reason ? Why selection gets stop from combo box when provide the control source ? If remove the control source then 1st text box is getting filled on basis of combo selection and 2nd text box value is not getting filled as describe above.
I am newish to background coding in access 2010. I have a call log with a form which is where the information on the caller/area is entered. There's a combo box that needs to populate a textbox with 3 different things, depending on whats selected. I'm using If,Then, Else.
The first selection needs to just have the textbox say something. I have that figured out with:

Me.Title = "..." (cboSource = combo, of course, and Title is the textbox.)
Next is where I'm fuzzy....The second selection needs to have the textbox populate with a dropdown list of choices from another table. No matter what I do, nothing is working. My latest attempt is:

I have 5 combo boxes that all cascade into the next, and then when the last combo box is updated from the drop down list, it auto-populates a text box. My issue is that I have a second text box that needs to be auto-populated from the same data table based on what has been entered into the 5 combo boxes and the first text box. I've tried creating parameters and setting a lookuprecord macro in my main table and then using a returnvars RunDataMacro on the actual form, but it says, "Invalid list or query reference 'BillingDataQuery'." I'm not sure if it's because I'm not setting that RunDataMacro on the wrong combo box, or if I've written it incorrectly...
I did this same technique (based on directions in a post from this forum) on another combo box that populates five text boxes and it works just fine, but I don't know how to get this to work based on what's populated in 5 combo boxes to auto-populate the last text box.
I need to populate a text box with data from a single cell contained in a table.Im hoping to use two combo boxes that when selected will select the cell. The combo boxes select data sources from the same table. One combo the row the second the column. One combo is already in use and populates several fields in the form. In the same form I'd like to place the second combo and beneath it have a text box that will populate with that cell detail.
View 3 Replies View RelatedI'm creating a form that when the user selects the following categories in the same combo box (Date Received, Date Reviewed, Date kitted, In Work, Complete) it auto populates dates in the respective fields. As I mentioned, it's only one combo box. The dates will be spread out, so the user will change the combo box selection based on when these events occur. I already have a field for each category both on the table and form. Also, I do have multiple tables for other parts of data, but these categories all fall into the same table.

I want to create a text box within a form that automatically populates a contact number based on a selection from a combo box, also in the same form.
For example, I have a Bidders Table (tblTenders), this form includes information regarding the Tendor like the company name and a main contact within that company and a phone number for that contact.
I've created a separate table for all the contacts called tblContacts. This table holds all the contact information for each contact. I have a simple form called frmTenders that asks the user to input the Customer (which is the company who are bidding) and the Main Contact, which is a combo box to select the main contact from tblContacts. Below that combo box is a text box called 'Contact Number' - I want this box to display the contact number for the main contact automatically when a main contact is selected from the combo box.
The contact number text box isn't storing that information in any tables etc. It's just for viewing purposes when we need to make a call to that specific tender.
I'm looking for a way to have a text box auto fill based on the selection of a combo box on the same form. I cannot use the method i find all over the internet of using multiple columns in the combo box and basing the text box on that because the combo box already has multiple columns being used to determine its own possibilities and other combo box possibilities.
I would really just like the text box to work like this, but im still kinda inexperienced in VBA...
If combo box is "F004-001", then text box is "237"
If combo box is "F004-003", then text box is "280"
I know how to add in an "after update" thing, but i do not know how to do If/then statements.
So I'm trying to populate a table based on selections I make within a form.
The form is based of a query that pulls a new product category that needs to be added to my first reference table for products.
The form shows all the new unique product codes, and there is a drop down box with product categories whose source is also the first reference table, so a new code would be:
'JBL - TRX - FVB - TRZ' And based on that new info, I would select from the drop down to select the corresponding category and click 'Add Record' button.
I'm building the event for the button and the code is as follows so far :

I have two forms - Main and StudentAdvisor (filtered by student ID#) SAdvisor.jpg
The main form originally had a combo box field to display advisor, the problem is that some students had multiple advisors during the course of their program. This problem was fixed by the creation of a StudentAdvisor (table/form) for recording ALL advisors. I set the form to display by newest term so the current advisor (or initial if no change) is the displayed record.
On the main form I then added "add" to open the StudentAdvisor form for entering information, and an unbound txtfield to display their current advisor (or initial advisor if no change).
The problem is I can not get the txtfield to display the information. I have managed to get the error ( #Name?)
Advisor Type 1=Initial, 2=Current, 3=Previous
Changed 1=Yes, 2=N/A
so a record would record as:
Initial and N/A
Current and Yes
Previous and Yes
I tried writing DLookup but could not get that to look up the combinations (above) and display either initial or current.
also tried pulling form SA = Advisor to form Main = txtAdvisor
For report purposes I need to know not only current advisor but how many were assigned during the program and also how many students each advisor was assigned during certain time frames.
I am wanting to populate a control in a form based off of two different fields in one table. Is that possible?I have a table called tblEmployeeMaster and it has a LastName column and a FirstName column in which I need to have both first and last name show up in one box on my form?

At the beginning, I was interested in controlling the display of the data according to the combo box (in this case is the PO number). Now, I would like to add another combox box which is the year (I have a column with the date, and also I have a column that shows only the years digits in my table) Also, I have a subform that display the data from the same table specifics records that I want. It means that I want to pick the year first, and then in the combox box of po number shows only option of that year, and hence the text boxes and subforms change accordingly to the two combox boxes.

I have multiple tables that I've created, and a query that contains the data from the various tables. I then ran the form wizard to select the data from the query that I wanted to populate in my form and I've added 2 combo boxes.
What I want to do:
1. I want users to be able to select a category in combo box #1 (example: "Bag")
2. I want users to be able to select a detail in combo box #2 based on the category they selected in combo box #1 (example: Combo box #1, "bag" would populate the following selections for combo box #2: "sandwich" and "tool")
3. I want users to then receive a list of suppliers that provide the product they have selected, either "Bag: Sandwich" or "Bag: Tool"
I have combo box #1 populating a list of categories already. However, I am not able to get combo box #2 to provide choices based on the selection chosen for combo box #1.
I am trying to auto populate the text boxes in the form based on drop down from the combo box. As you can see in the form Frm_Input, this works fine for FL, but for some reason it will not populate for Skill, Role, FLM and Location. The table it is linking to is Tbl_Names. Why as I have changed the column source?

The compliance options I need to pull in are different for each law. Finally I would like to have the selected option saved in the table the laws are coming from.
I have tried using a rowsource query [Form]![form1]![Law] for the combo box of law options but keep getting errors.
I have a table named ColorValues with the following three fields:
- ID
- MunsellCode
- RGBValue
30 fields from another table called Color_Analysis are linked to the above with one to many relationships (I've already thought of other ways to normalize data, but this is the most efficient, so no need to go into this topic).
Now, I've constructed a form for Color_Analysis and all 30 fields recording color are included as combo boxes bounded on the ID in ColorValues and displaying the MunsellCode for the user. I've also created unbounded text fields next to the combo boxes and want to use them to display the color that the user selected in the ComboBox. The question is how do I do this?
Essentially I need a piece of code that picks up the value of the combo box (this is essentially the ID in ColorValues), looks up that value in the ID column of the ColorValues table and uses the corresponding RGBValue of the same table as the .BackColor for the unbounded text field.
The main issue I'm having is trying to populate a text box based on a combo box selection. I've found threads on that - the twist that is throwing me for a loop is that I'm dealing with two different forms.
I have a main/welcome form with two combo boxes on it. Based on the user's selections in these two combo boxes, two different forms are opened for data entry. For instance, box 1 has A, B, C and box 2 has x, y, z. If a user chooses B and z, then form B and form z are opened. I have a select query that holds anywhere between 1 to a couple hundred records, I need to take the Name field and populate a textbox which after verification I write to a text file that I later use in a powershell script. So far have tried using VBA to create a variable and populate the textbox based on the string but it only provides me the first item, I've tried dmax and this gives me a single result last Item, Dlookup only gives me the first item, changed it to a listbox which populates the box correctly but only writes the selected item in to my text file.

In the contact information table are Cell, Home, Office fields as well as Personal, Work, Alternate email fields which will contain the corresponding information. On the form after the information is entered the person needs to select an option from each of four combo boxes to indicate which is the preferred number, number for student, preferred email and email for students. The question is how to populate the text fields in a report based on the selection of the combo boxes with the information stored in the corresponding field (cell, home, office phone numbers and personal, work and alternate email). I am assuming it is done in the query but I don't know how or can it be done in vba?
