Forms :: Populating Data From A Table With Multiple Fields?

I am trying to create the form so when the first field (Start Date) has a date selected, it limits the following field (Report Date) to the matching available data, and same with the third field (Production Division) on the previous two.

I also need the form to allow new dates / production division combinations, but not duplicate.

I starting working with a cascade function but got confused and not sure if that is where I should be headed.

I have attached 2 different formats of the same sample data.

Populating Fields With Data From Another Table?

I am trying to populate fields from one table into another field in a linked table. Specifically, I have a giving table and a persons table. I have the giving table have the persons primary ID field in the giving table. I cannot seem to automatically link them if I am adding a "gift" record. The gift is a dollar amount given by that person. I have a unique primary key for each financial contribution which is supposed to be tied to a person's primary key and last name in my "person" table. Am I missing something in this design?

I HAVE A DATASETS cSV TEXT FORMAT WHICH HAS A SELECTION OF FIELDS THAT NEED TO BE IMPORTED INTO A TABLE. USING THE ADVANCED IMPORT FACILLITY I HAVE BEEN UNABLE TO IMPORT THE DATA PLEASE HELP AS THIS IS FOR MY A-LEVEL STUDENTS.


THE FIELDS REQUIRED IN THE SESSION TABLE ARE,
Booking ID, Customer ID, Date Booking Made, Pickup Point, Payment Made

Populating Multiple Tables With Data

I haven't used access for a long time so I am very rusty.

I have a few tables but I'll just use two for an example:

Table A
Ticket No
Part No
Defect Code
WorkCenter No
Clock No
(Ticket No is Primary Key)

Table B
Clock No
Supervisor
Employee
(Clock No is Primary Key)

Is there a way for me to create a form, that when Clock No is entered it will be placed in both tables?

Populating Fields/table

I have search the forum but dont seem to be able to find the solution i am looking for. I am hoping its because it has a simple solution .......

I have a database which records grant applications for the current year. What i also have is a table which stores all the grant applications from last year and i have a search form which the user can search to see if the applicant applied last year. What i want the user to be able to do is if the applicant did apply last year - to be able to double click on the particular applicant on the search form and populate the fields in the new applicant table, show on the new applicant form, and delete the applicant from last years table. This would save the user time because they would not have to retype name, address etc. Can someone please point me in the right direction? I seem to have a mental blank with this one.

Populating A Table With Value From Cell Above Across Multiple Columns

Doing Ctrl + ' will put in the value from the cell above it. But I want to do this across 4 columns. On one row, I am selecting across 4 columns and doing Ctrl + ' and only the first cell populates with the value above it.

Is there a way to get the 3 other columns to populate with the value of them (the values are different across all columns).

I have database as follows,

1- student table: stID (PK), firstName, lastName

2-course table: courseID (PK), courseName, courseDescription

3- studentCourse: stID(FK),courseID (FK)

Now, I have created a main form based on student table and a subform based on studentCourse table. However, because I needed to populate the courseName and CourseDescription in the subform I changed its record source to a query (stID, courseID, courseName, courseDescription) so that when I move between the subform records the courseName and courseDescription still show in the subform.

To populate the courseName and courseDescription in the subform I changed the courseID to a combobox so that it brings the courseName and courseDescription from the course table and show it in the subform.

Everything is working fine so far BUT when I choose to input a courseID manually into the combobox, it does not populate the courseName and courseDescription as it does when I choose the courseID from the combobox.

In my database table I have a MainMember_Tbl which contains address fields. I also have a related table (via a field called Member_ID) called JointMember_Tbl which also contains address fields. For any particular member, mostly there is no joint member, but when there is a joint member the address fields are often the same as for the main member, but not always.

In the case when they are the same, I would like to use a button within the data input form for the joint member to 'duplicate' the address fields saved in the MainMember_Tbl - For example ....

Some how set..

[JointMember_Tbl]. Add1 = [ManinMember_Tbl].Add1
[JointMember_Tbl]. Add2 = [ManinMember_Tbl].Add2
etc...

I have a form bound to a table which has 20 (name)fields and 1 date per record. A user fills in this form first to indicate which people are present this day. I know it would be better to use 1 name per record but that would in this case not work since the form must show all names for that day before saving and closing.

I have a different form where I use 4 combo boxes and a date field. The values that can be selected in the combo boxes should come from the 20 names on the first form and with the same date as the other form. So only 4 people of the 20 indicated as present on that day can be selected to have performed some task.

I know how to select with a combo box from different records, but how would I do it from different fields in the same record? And then also for a particular date?

Auto Populating Fields In A Table/form

Sorry for posting into another thread about this, but here's my problem:

Hello All. Finally getting my pride out of the way and asking this. I've searched and this is the closest question pertaining to the problem I'm having. I have created a form to populate a table in Access. I've created Lookup fields for parts of the table that will get data from another table/tables. I want a certain part of the form to auto-populate data based off of the last name I put in the initial Drop-down box. Say, I have a person with a last name (and there are several with the same last names), I want the remainder of that line in the form/report to populate with his/her data needed for the form letter. Unfortunately right now, I have it where we have to select each from a drop down menu, for both last names, first names and other data needed. I've tore my brain up trying to figure out how to link the data in each one of the combo boxes to the first combo box. Any help would be appreciated. These are driving me nuts as I should be able to figure this out and it's just escaping my vision I guess. Thanks in advance for the help.

Is there a way when you enter the firstname/lastname fields into the main table that it can populate the same information in to the same fields in the other tables? If so how?

Forms :: Populating Multiple Textboxes On A Form

I have a form and I am not sure of the best way to populate the multiple fields on it.

The form consists of a textbox to select a date (txtDate) and then once this date is selected I want the multiple textboxes on the form to be populated from data I have in a table.

The name of each textbox is a concatenation of "txt" the number of the person which is a number from 1 to 4 and then a time eg for 12 Noon it would be 1200 so the textboxes are from txt10800 to txt42000 i.e. each person has textboxes from 8.00am to 8.00pm in half hour intervals.

I need to use two tables to populate these textboxes as in the main table there are codes that have a relationship to fields within another table that holds attributes for that code. (eg code 123 could equal Service A in the second Table but 123 is what is held on the main table) Also in the main table I have a calculated field that creates the name of the relevant textboxes on the form.

If there is a textbox that will not be populated as there is nothing in that time period then I would like this to be left blank or Null.

Am I best creating a query and binding the form to this query or to leave it unbounded and use a recordset within VBA

Also what is the best way of using either

I am displaying records from a table on a form line after line like a spreadsheet/data sheet.

I want to do 2 things.

When the user clicks anywhere on a new row to add data I want to populate that row with some data from the row above.

I also want to protect certain fields on each line (but not all lines!)

So basically if the user is presented with

old model number.....new model number..Added by.....date

I want to protect all of the 1st 3 rows and the old model number in the last row.

Forms :: Unable To Enter New Data In Form With Fields From Multiple Tables

I had an existing database with 2329 records entered into it. All of the fields (220ish) were all in one table. Myself and my co-workers wanted to rebuild the database without losing the data. We wrote queries to transfer the data from the original database to the new database and split the data from the original 1 giant table to 9 smaller tables.

The transfer of data worked so I went to start making forms. When I went to add fields from different tables I had to built a relationship, which I did. All of the data that transferred over from the new database is in the form (now multiple forms linked by button) but I can't add new information. I get an error stating, "You cannot add or change a record because a related record is required in table ..." and the table referenced keeps changing.

Last week some very altruistic folks here helped me solve a many-to-many relationships quandry, and I am hoping that there may some others out there who can help with another question.

I have a feeling this is simple, but I can't quite get my head around it, and have not been able to find it in the past forum threads, but....

I want to create a tblJobs that has information about our clients' Companies, as well as Contact. As there can be many Contacts for each Company, my current setup looks like this:

tblContacts
ContactID (Pkey)
Name
Lookup_to_qryCompanies_to_Contact(shows Contact's company)

tblComanies
CompanyID (Pkey)
Company Name
(Client info is included as embedded table based on qryCompanies_to_Contact)

qryCompanies_to_Contact
Company (from tblCompanies)
Contact (from tblContacts) (one-to-many)

In my new tblJobs, I would like to have a combo box in which I can input the company name, and then the next field will have another combo containing ONLY names of the contacts affiliated with the chosen company. (I will also eventually like to make a form that allows the same function, but am assuming that the process will be the same for updating the table trhough a form as it would be updating it directly).

Now I have a combo box "cbo_items" and a text box "txt_selectedItems", I want to populate text field with items selected from the combo box, every time i select an item it appears in text box and to be separated with comma, so text box appears like this ( item1, item2, item3), and after finishing the whole thing the result appears in lable "lbl_result" as "total items selected: 3 items".

This is a DATASHEET VIEW, not a table.

I have a table that has the part number, the description, and the usage.

I am stumped on trying to get just the 2 fields to populate into this subform (datasheet view), when the part number is selected. I may have several lines of part numbers. How do I go about populating this form? The user will indicate the actual quantity. The quantity changes per order, yet the usage stays the same.

Any suggestions?

I am generating a report from my database that I would like to turn into an invoice. My report generates perfectly, but I need to add an invoice number when I print the report and I need to take the data Customer ID, Invoice Total, and a maybe other data from the report and populate the Invoice Record table. I have VB code that is generating my Invoice No, creating a new record in the Invoice Record table and populating the Invoice Record Table with the Invoice number. I want to add this Invoice No to my report at time of printing, and populate the Invoice Record Table with the fields from the report as stated above.

On a reports form that I have, I want to make a combobox for all of the locations, so it could show all the clients from a particular location and also it would reduce the errors due to someone spelling a place name wrong. I could set the source to the location field in the table, but that would show them all in the order they come out and there would be duplicates.

Forms Linking, Populating Data From Search

Hi Experts! I'm having a problem that I hope some of the experts can help me with. I am in the process of designing a database for a health insurance company that does health fairs.

I need to have a data entry form for the nurses to enter the Health Fair results. I created a form for them to search for the Employer group. They type first few letters of the group, click "find group" button and it brings up a subform (frmGroup_sub) with the filtered group. I then have the group number (field PARGRP) hyperlinked to bring up another entry form (frmHF_entry) when clicked. I need the user to be able to find the group, click on the group number, then bring up another form which autopopulates that PARGRP from frmGroups_sub into the new form, frmHF_entry and stores that group number in the table tblHF. Further, they will need to do more than one "employee" for the pargrp. So I was going to make a subform of frmHF_entry where they could enter multiple records for that same PARGRP.

I just confused myself and probably all of you...but the problem I am having is I cannot get PARGRP from frmGroups_sub when clicked to open and auto populate the form frm_HFEntry.

I am trying to setup a database in order to demonstrate a tie in between active directory and the HR side of a business.As such, I would like to select two fields from drop down menus that reference in Department and Location tables, but use this data to actually Populate the Personnel Records table rather than Query.I know this is not normally best practice from a DBA perspective.

I have this setup already in Filemaker, just through using relationships.However, I want to move to Access, as it is more industry standard and much lighter weight, so am trying to find the best way.I have attached two pics of my filemaker database, and a zipped copy of my Access file.
