Forms :: Prevent Duplicates From Multiple Drop Downs In Access 2013

I'm in Access 2013 and I built a form with multiple drop downs. Here is what I have in the same order of which the user must choose from......

Document "Field Observation", "Monthly Inspection", "Safety Roster" (The user must first choose the document from this drop down he is recording)

Supervisor "First & Last Name" (The user then chooses the first & last name of the specific Supervisor name he is recording the document for from this drop down)

Manager - This field automatically populates based on Supervisor.
AOR - This field automatically populates based on Supervisor.
Org Unit - This field automatically populates based on Supervisor.

Month "January", "February", etc. (The user then chooses the Month of which the document will need to be applied to)

I would like the form to trigger an error with "This document is already recorded for this month" when the user chooses "Monthly Inspection" OR "Safety Roster" for a specific "Supervisor" for a specific "Month" that is already recorded in "TBL_DataTracker". The TBL_DataTracker is where all of my records are stored.

Criteria For Drop-downs

In my query I want to find the total number of "occasional" bookings.
There are two types: occasional and regular.
However, when I select the tblBooking and the field it finds the total number of all the bookings, which is 10 (5 reg. and 5 occ.). However, I only want to find the occasional (5) and not regular. The field is a drop-down (lookup wizard) so when I type "occasional" into the criteria it says a data mismatch. I've used the 'Count' function, but it still says data mismatch. So basically, I want to count the number of occasional bookings but it's from a drop-down field. It will find the total number (10) of both types of booking, but I only want to find the occasional. How do I do this?
Also, how would I calculate the percentage? I want to find the percentages of both the occasional (50%) and regular (50%) bookings. I don't mean to waffle on. Thank you for your time. :)

Drop Downs In A Form

I am building a customer order database for a client and have this problem: I would like to be able to display a form that shows all a customer's order information ( pretty standard stuff, first name, last name, address, phone, etc.) but then would also like to display what they ordered as a drop down. Many of the customers are repeat customers, and so they will have multiple order records in the datatbase, but I would like to somehow display them in the customer profile form all in one form.

Any help on how to go about this appreicated.

I have a simple line chart plotting price against date.

I would like to plot a secondary line on this chart from an array of data that I calculate. I've searched hi and low but can't seem to find a way of doing this.

I can create my array of data but I can't seem to get it to work and think it may be for pivot charts....which access 2013 can't do anymore.

Forms :: Input Data Into Multiple Tables Using Single Form - MS Access 2013

I have 5 tables that I would like to input data in. It can only be done with a single form. The fields I want to input in have the same names in all 5 tables, for example:

Table 1:
Name
Age
DOB

Table 2:
Name
Age
DOB

Table 3:
Name
Age
DOB

Table 4:
Name
Age
DOB

Table 5:
Name
Age
DOB

Is it possible to input data into all of these fields in each table using one textbox for each field?

Preferably without having to use code but if it cannot be done without it then that would be fine.

I have created a database which is used as a sign in and out machine for students. I have 2 forms a 'sign in' which has a lookup list containing all student names. as well as date and time and a 'sign out form' which uses a lookup list from the sign in form.

It collects data fine but when a student signs in and out a second time there name is duplicated in the 'sign out' drop down list. The student must select the right name out of the duplicates otherwise it wont record.

Im just wondering if there is some sort of fix to this.

I made a new column in a table in access. The table is not linked and linking unfortunately is not an option. In the new column, I want to create a sum for 5 years of funding. There are multiple columns for a different fiscal year.

In excel, it is simply =sum(range), but I am drawing completely blank how to fill in the column with the sum data.

The end result is the data from 4 tables will be displayed in Forms and Reports.

Essentially what I need is an ability to bulk update a column in access table without a need to reupload the entire datasheet (over 100k rows with about 30 columns).

I have a listbox set to Multiselect property of Simple. The listbox is populated by using a table. There are 4 columns in the listbox

The columns are PayPeriod, StartDate, EndDate, FiscalYear

What I want to be able to do is highlight a chunk of dates and have the first selected StartDate and the last selected EndDate populate two hidden text boxes so I can use them for my queries/reports.

I've tried a couple different ways. Each time what happens is it only uses the last item I have selected in it's calculations.

Validation To Prevent Duplicates

Hi,

I have created a database that monitors containers that are being hired. When a container is hired some details are entered and remains the same until we receive an invoice to state that the hire has stopped. Subsequently, the database is updated and an invoice sent. The container is then hired out again and some details are entered on the database and so on.
There are two check boxes to state whether the container hire has been completed and whether the client has been invoiced.

I am attempting to stop duplicate entries of container numbers being entered onto the database when the transactions are not complete and the client has not been invoiced.

I cannot use a primary key because the containers are reused and hence the container number will be on the field more than once. I have also tried a find duplicates query, but this found duplicates in the whole table and returned only the duplicates that were in the criteria I had specified.

Basically, I want the validation or whatever to prevent duplicates only when the two check boxes are 0.

Prevent Duplicates In Reports

Help! I'm on of those home grown programmers. I have the report all ready to go. Four columns with data from a table. The 4th column is showing duplicates that I would prefer just show up as blanks. Following the 'help' screen I changed the preferences for that box to HIDE DUPLICATES: YES. The help screen says this should work exactly as I hoped, but when I run the report every field is populated.

Any ideas??? I'm sure there is some small config change but It is beyond me.

Dlookup To Prevent Duplicates

I have a form with a text box called txtID. When the user types a value in the text box I want it to check if the value already exists in the field ID in table "Headcount" (a linked table from SharePoint). If it does, then I want a pop up box to display with error. Is this a Dlookup function?

I've tried DCount but can't get that to work.

Ive had a recurring problem with one of my databases

ive got a form with a subtable on it, the subtable is very important as much of the DB's data is entered in there.

every once and a while one of the users will be doing data entry and on a certain field (a short text field if that makes any difference) theyll push enter instead of tab, to move on to the next field, enter creates a new line instead of moving to the next field, when a new line is created the user will either assume the field is blank and retype the data or ignore it entirely and move on

the trouble is one of my queries completely fails to work when there are multiple lines in this field (comes with a data type mismatch error)

is there a way to prevent the field from being able to contain multiple lines (like a property setting or some VB code?)

I have a client database that has recently had multiple duplicate entries. I need to reduce or negate this erroneous activity. I have a client table where I record amongst others, the following;

key
[christian_name]
[family_name]
[dob]
......

I believe that to prevent duplicate entrie via form I have created an additional field called "unique" given it as a unique index which I want to have populated with the joined fields first_name & last_name & dob (IE johndoe01/01/90), and then as user enters a new client it wont allow a duplicate.

However I need to fill all the existing customers (3600+) with the relevant joined existing data. If I create an expression I can cajoin the fields in a select query but when I try to make an update query the same syntax comes up with empty fields.

select query sql that worked to show field ...

SELECT divers.christian_name, divers.family_name, divers.dob, [christian_name] & [family_name] & [dob] AS Expr1
FROM divers;

update query that was empty ..

UPDATE divers SET divers.[unique] = [christian_name] & [family_name] & [dob];

Having trouble using .JPG images in Access 2013 reports? I inserted some images (of arrows) onto a label report. Since then, I've had problems with my DB becoming corrupted or "unstable". I can give more detail if wanted, but my main question is do y'all recommend using images in reports and forms. If so, what format?

In previous versions of Access (i.e 2003 and prior) I could use the following code in the On Click event of a form's command button to open an external file:

However, I'm now using Access 2013 and it wont allow me to use this anymore, it gives me the following error:

Runtime Error '5"'
Invalid procedure call or argument

Why this doesn't work in Access 2013?

I have created a database that has both English and French forms feeding information into the same table. I'm not concerned if the info stored in the table is stored in French or in English. It all works fine other then the drop down boxes in the forms, here I only seem to be able to either have the English or the French options visible on both the English and the French form. Is there a way to have the English options on the English form and the French options on the French form, both feeding the results into the same field in the table.

I have searched to find the correct syntax to refer to a combo box control on a nested subform. All the examples I've found Access 2013 will not recognize or find the appropriate control.

I have a parent form called IncidentDetails. On that form I have a control called ctrlLogDetail. Within that control is a form called sfrm_LogDetail. On sfrm_LogDetail, I have a control called ctrlType which houses a form called sfrmType. On sfrmType, I have a combo box called cboType. I need to be able to place the cboType choice into a query to filter records for another combo box on that same form. the query works appropriately when I have sfrmType open, however as soon as I try to call the query from the IncidentDetails form, Access cannot find the cboType control.

I've tried multiple variations of the syntax to call to cboType that I've found online. I found a very useful reference from BTA Development: however the syntax there will NOT work in Access 2013.

What is the appropriate syntax would be to get to my control within my 3 deep nested subform? I'm working Access 2013 and won't have a choice regarding Access versions.

I have a new staff member in my office that has informed me that she has a degree of dyslexia. To assist her I've trialled changing the textboxes on one form in my Access 2013 application to a light pink color & this has instantly worked for her to read/input text.

Is there a way to automatically change each textbox to light pink on every form in my application on startup based on user login (say using an IIF statement in the OnLoad event of the startup form).
