I have a query screen which worked. It has a header and some details. Now only the header shows up. No detail is visible. I look at the design all these fields are visible, but in reality they are not.

I've been developing a new db and have been adding buttons to forms all along without any issue.
I would create a button and under the event tab in the properties sheet all the buttons used to indicate "On Click" would produce an [Event Procedure]. Suddenly the "On Click" now indicates an [Embedded Macro] is going to run, which is not what I really want to have happen......
Is there a simple way, or special event, that can be used to turn off the visibility of fields when they are in the detail or in a created header for a field?
I tried using the report's Load event, but this kept giving me errors. Are any of the events in the detail able to allow this?
I have a form that I have opening in Filter by Form mode. It WAS working flawlessly, at least it was opening in that mode. It IS still requiring me to click on Toggle Fields once data is entered into controls to filter by, but that's another issue (I wrote a recent comment, but haven't gotten any response). Something different is happening suddenly that wasn't happening before. This form is a copy of a form needed to enter data.
Both forms read from a table which has several required fields. Suddenly, when I open the form to find records in ANY mode it's making me enter something into these required fields, even though I'm not searching/filtering by them. The message comes up "You must enter a value in the [Specific Required Field name here] Field." What did I do to make this start happening? How do I stop it? I DO want something to need to be entered in the required fields when new records are being entered and when things are being changed. However, I don't want it to be required during search processes.
I have written a very simple query which get's it's criteria from a form I also created, which couldn't be any simpler itself. The form simply has a text box that I enter a value into, in this case, the date in a specific format "20041019". The query then pulls all records according to the form value. This query has always worked fine for weeks now. Today, suddenly it would not return any records. If I go into the SQL and manually enter "20041019" it will pull the appropriate records. It will NOT function when relying on the form value though. This has happened to me in the past, of course I did not document what I did to overcome the obstacle though. I have tried matchign the formats of the field in the table to the text box in the form so that they are both general numbers with 0 decimal places, originally they were both text format and it worked. I can't seem to figure out why this would happen. If anyone has any suggestions, I would GREATLY appreciate it.

I'm opening forms to get data then closing using VB code.
Is there a way to stop the screen showing these forms as the code runs
something like Display refresh off then display refresh on.

I have a database that it has 2 forms. Form 1 shows list of received letters Form 2 shows list of send letters Now database has been splitted and back end is on the shared drive and front end there is on each computer and myself and other users have read/write access to the shared drive and me and other users can see all the records. .Now I would like to add something like a check box field to the forms. When I tick the check box for each record other users cannot see that record on the form.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI have a dashboard that opens with my main form and it contains many textboxes with Dcounts, Dlookups and Dsums in it. I am hoping that I can put these textboxes on a separate form that is hidden unless a command button is clicked to make it visible.
I know how to do this, but my question is whether or not all of those queries will run whether or not the form is visible. Obviously if the Dsums etc.. are going to run anyway, then I won't bother.
Is there a better way to do this?
I have a main form that has 2 subforms. I have a field on both forms that I have marked as "Visible="No". Both are text box controls and I have made sure that both the label and the text box itself are marked "Visible="No". In the first subform, it works correctly, while on the second one, it still displays.

Also, how do you get access to open all the windows, tables, queries etc in full screen mode.
I have expaneded them and shut it down and then reopened it but they still want to open out of full screen mode.

I've placed an unbound text control in the header of a Split Form. I also placed a label in header of a split form.But, neither is visible until I select a row on the split form datasheet.The Visible property is set to yes and the fore color is white and the background is transparent.
View 6 Replies View RelatedI need to have a subform that shows up smack dab in the middle of my main screen when visible - which is what I want - but only based on a specific value of a control on the main form. Specifically, if a control's value is "See Spreadsheet", I want the subform visible front and center as it contains the link to the server location for that specific record. If the control's value is not "See Spreadsheet", I want the form to be invisible.

The red lines result in an MS VBA error: "Compile error: Method or data member not found."
I've tried referencing that subform a hundred different ways, but I can't get it to work.
I have two option buttons, 1_optn and 2_optn. I have two subforms, 1_frm and 2_frm.
When clicking the little round dot (the option button) for 1_optn, I want the subform 1_frm to become visible. Likewise, when clicking 2_optn, I want the subform 2_frm to become visible. In the properties panel, both forms visibility is set to No.
I have tried creating a Macro and the best I've gotten is using the OpenForm function but that opens up the forms in a new window. I'd set the Macro to the OnClick event for a combo box (as I couldn't get the option button to work) so when "1" is clicked, the form would pop up. But they have to be in the same form. No pop ups. It also has to be an option button, not a combo box or list box.It also has to be a Macro. No Event Procedure coding unfortunately.
My company has a new database that we will use to track PTO (paid time off/vacation), including the submission/approval process. Not everyone should have access to the approval dashboard as that should be restricted to only managers. Everyone will have the same basic form so that they can see their PTO history, hours remaining to be used, etc.
What I want to do is have a button on the form that is visible only if the person is a manager. The button will open the PTO approval form. How can I make a button visible/invisible based on user access levels?

I have a query that creates counts of fields based on the data in other fields, basically it tells me that in a table there are two entries with value ABC????? and three of DEF????? , the query works perfectly.
When I create a form to display this data and base the form on the Query I keep getting a message box asking for the ID (key field) from the base table.
If I type * in the box (to denote all values) and press enter I get the results expected.

I what to add a a text box on the welcome screen that says something along the lines of Welcome firstname (from the firstname.lastname that the code above pulls) what would you like to do? I need some code that will get me all the characters left of the period that separates the firstname from the lastname.
I have the following code (simplified) :

Stepping through with the debugger, the ".Dirty=False" statement is executed, but the screen does not refresh. If I comment out the "If .Dirty ..." block and comment in the ".Refresh", then the screen does refresh with the new value - but of course that needlessly refreshes all the other records on the form.
This happened yesterday at work.
The access form froze and they could do other things but Access remained frozen. They logged off and when they went back in Access opened but none of the form buttons or links were working.
The database is not split because it is used only by one station at a time.
Has this happened to anyone and does anyone know the cause?
Five people were trying to fix it when I walked into work (5 people who no nothing about Access other than using that one database) and I couldn't get a straight answer.

I have a screen with multiple records from a database. At the top of the screen I have a button that lets the user change the mode between read only and edit modes. The current mode is displayed near the button. When the user decides to update a record or records he goes into the edit mode and starts changing the records. The user may change any number of records on the screen. When editing is finished he presses a button called save and close gets feedback and leaves the screen. Now in this process how do I keep track of the records that are changed on the screen . Plus he can hit the page down key and go to the next page and make changes there also. Is it possible to stop the hitting of the page down key. What indicators can I use to spot the records changed?
