Forms :: Refreshing Textbox If User Deletes A Record From Table

Feb 6, 2015

I have a form with a Count textbox. It's control source is a field named "Audit Count" in the table "DB Audits". The idea of the textbox is to display a running count of how many audits a specific auditor has completed that day. To do this I have the textbox set up with a default value of:

Code:
=DCount("[Loan Number]","DB Audits","[Auditor] = fOSUserName() And [Audit Date] = Date()")+1

Assuming I'm using the DCount function correctly, this is supposed to count the number of [Loan Number] records entered in the "DB Audits" table by the auditor (whose name is found using fOSUserName()) on today's date. So, for example, when opening up the form at the beginning of the day the Count textbox would read 1 and when the auditor clicked Save and New it would increase to 2.

The problem I am having is something I encountered while doing some random tests of the form. If an auditor submitted an audit (let's say the 1st of the day), the form correctly displays the next count as 2. However, if the auditor were to delete the record from the underlying "DB Audits" table while the form was still open, if they were to enter a new record, the Audit Count field would display 2 even though it should be 1 (since the 1st record had been deleted).

How can I have the Count textbox refresh whenever someone deletes a record from the table while the form is still open? I tried a Requery command using the AfterDelConfirm event but I couldn't get it to work.

Forms :: Find Record In Table That Matches Textbox Input

Jan 5, 2014

I'm trying to build a search form.- Access 2007

I have a table (Table1), contains a 'part' field.

I wan to build a form with a blank text box (txtbx1) where users can enter a part description, this will search records in Table1>part and return a list of parts that match the textbox input.

Here's what I've done -

txtbx1 - property sheet - control source - part
event - on enter - ...

I've built an expression -

[Table1]![part] = [txtbx1]

hoping that this would match records 1n Table1 to txtbx1

Delete Record Deletes Other Records

May 11, 2006

I have something very bizarre happening that I cannot figure out.

I have a form with a subform on it. These are not linked. On the first form is one combo box, the records in the subform are requeried every time the combo box changes with the criteria for the subform based on the selection in the combo box.

I haven't got these linked because I also have an Edit option group selection on the main form which changes the subform from Data Entry = False and AllowAdditions = False to Data Entry = True and AllowAdditions = True. This allows me to use the form to enter new records or to edit existing ones by changing the edit mode.

I also have a delete button on this form with the generic code to delete a record:

DoCmd.DoMenuItem acFormBar, acEditMenu, 8, , acMenuVer70
DoCmd.DoMenuItem acFormBar, acEditMenu, 6, , acMenuVer70

The record source for this subform is a primary table on the one side of a one to many relationship.

When I am in the new record mode (Data Entry = True and AllowAdditions = True) and I delete the record I am currently entering it works as expected.

When I am in edit mode (Data Entry = False and AllowAdditions = False ) and I delete the record I am on. It deletes the record but any record in the many side (the secondary table with the foreign key) is also deleted as well. Now I'd expect it to delete the foreign key on the many side and wipe the field but this actually deletes the whole record the foreign key is in from the secondary table.

I have checked my relationship set up for these tables and they are fine:

One To Many Relationship
Referential Inegrity Checked
Cascade Update Records Checked
Cascade Delete Records Checked

I get the usual access warning telling me it is about to delete one record. usually you would also expect the warning to include the comment about this deletion will also delete any related records in other tables, but I don't get that.

I cannot for the life of me figure out why the whole record from the secondary table is being deleted and not just the related field.

Does anyone have any ideas?

I hope I have explained it properly. (Tis always hard to put into words a problem)

Thanks in advance,

Daz

Forms :: Populate Textbox Based On User Log In

Mar 3, 2014

Code:
Private Sub Check253_AfterUpdate()
If Me.Check253 = -1 Then
Me.Text254 = DLookup("[Lot]", "[tblAutoGen]", "[Inuse] = -1")
Me.Text256 = DLookup("[Exp]", "[tblAutoGen]", "[Inuse] = -1")
Me.Text258 = DLookup("[Lot]", "[tblEthanol]", "[Inuse] = -1")

[Code] ....

I am using the code above on my form and it seems to be working. My question is there a way to populate a textbox (Text255) based off a login?

For example, lets say JSmith is loged in to the computer. Is there a way that JS could populate Text255? If then say JCarter is logged on, the JC populates Text255.

Forms :: Refreshing Table Form Through Search Function

Apr 7, 2015

I am having some minor issues with my current database. The way it works currently is having a MainMenu where you can either go to customers/ ProductList/ Product OR ProductList straight away. I have a CustomerT and a ProductT. I have made a Query where I link the two tabels to have the feature showing the customer to the specific product with the criteria: "Kunde: [CustomerName] & " " & [Subsidiary]" on the form I have a txtsearch (Textbox) connected to a button with this coding:

Private Sub Kommandoknap49_Click()
Dim strsearch As String
Dim strText As String
If (Len(txtsearch.Value) > 0) Then
strText = Me.txtsearch.Value

This allows me to search for text in each of the boxes with information on the single product(s) for example searching for Kunde (Customer in Danish) or ProduktNavn (Name of product) HOWEVER when I do this the "Kunde" turns into "#Navn?" c..If i reopen the Form it will show with the right information. I also tried to code the "Byactivation" to

Forms :: Second User Record Changes When First User Selects Record

Jul 31, 2014

I have a database for mutli users which is split. Front end is available separately for 3 users. These users make data entry in the same form from their front end form. This particular form has combo box that retrieves data based on selection in combo box and the use starts filling the data in the subform. Upto this, form is Ok, no problems seen.

But when the second user opens the same form from the split database front end stored in his computer, and once the second user selects another record from the combo box, first user's record also changes immediately to the record of Second user. Both users now have the same record even though the form is separately accessed from front end.

Forms :: Datasheet View Textbox Fills With Same Value For Every Record?

Jun 13, 2014

Some background: I have a subform that is displayed in datasheet view, with an unbound textbox (field1) whose sole purpose is to pass the date and time entered into it to field2 (hidden, bound), and also display that info in this format: ddhhnn"Z" mm yy. The inputmask for field1 is 000000"Z ">LLL0 which forces the user to enter the date/time using the ddhhnn"Z" mm yy format. I use field1's AfterUpdate event to convert its contents into a format (dd/MMM/yy hh:mm) that field2 can easily recognize as a date and time.

My problem: The only way I've figured out to get field1 to display field2's date and time is to use the subform's OnCurrent event:

Code:
Me.field1 = Format([Field2], "ddhhnn""Z ""mmm yy")

However, by doing that, whenever I click on a record's row the entire field1 column populates with the current record's field1 value. So, if I click on record 2's row, the entire field1 column populates with "101200Z JUN14" for every record. If I click on record 3's row, the entire field1 column populates with "111232Z JUN14" for every record. And so on and so forth.

How can I stop field1 from populating with the same value for every record?

Forms :: Autoupdate Textbox Based On Previous Record

I have a form bound to a table called tblteeofftimes. This form has five fields (continuous form) - four of which are comboboxes whereby user selects each player for the record (who will play together). The other textbox has the tee off time. the first tee off time will be allocated by user eg 7:00 am.

My problem is I need to update each ensuing record with a new time slot at 7 minute intervals. Rather than have the user populate the form themselves I would prefer this be done authomatically as the user moves onto the next record.
