View RepliesIs there a way to increase the maximum characters allowed in an expression of a macro setvalue action ?
I have an expression in a macro setvalue action that adds multiple form textbox values. I need to change the form name from "RATING ENGINE 2" to "E RATING ENGINE 2". When I do this, I exceed the maximum characters allowed in the expression. Is there a way I can rename "RATING ENGINE 2" without this problem. The expression is as follows:
[Forms]![RATING ENGINE 2]![Excess Liab Premium 6]+[Forms]![RATING ENGINE 2]![Excess Liab Premium 7]+[Forms]![RATING ENGINE 2]![Excess Liab Premium 8]+[Forms]![RATING ENGINE 2]![Excess Liab Premium 9]+[Forms]![RATING ENGINE 2]![Excess Liab Premium 10]
I have inserted a function via a module at the beginning of a Macro using the RunCode action:
Function Msgbox_Yes_No()
Dim Response As Integer
Response = MsgBox(prompt:="Select 'Yes' or 'No'.", Buttons:=vbYesNo)
If Response <> vbYes Then
End If
End Function
However, it doesnt stop the macro from continuing on its way to delete a load of records if the user chooses no.
Why when I set up a macro with a PrintOut action does it always prompt me to "Save As" before it prints? I have a default printer set up in the system, but it still asks to "Save As." It does print after.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI have a Macro setup and SendObject is one of the Actions. It is setup to send an existing report. Is there a way to insert a fieldname from that report into the Subject line of the e-mail that is sent? That would be great, instead of having the same subject line for every e-mail, using the date or something like that. Please let me know. Thanks.
View 3 Replies View RelatedI am building a purchase requisition (PR) database.
The tables are (simplified) as follows:
Table1 - tbl_PRList - contains only 3 fields with one of these fields being the "PR No".
Table2 - tbl_PRData - contains all the item data, also with a field "PR No".
The intent of the "item entry" form is to add items to the latest PR that has been generated.
So, whenever an item that is to be placed on the new PR, you type in the item description, qty, etc in the form and then you press a button that saves this item to the main 'data' table (Table1). What I would like to do is, "on click" of this button, I'd like this record, prior to it moving to the next record, to set the value of the PR No field in Table 1 to be the same as the DLast value of the Table2 table.
One of the users of my application, reports an error when saving a report to pdf by VBA code. She’s using Access 2013, on Windows 8.1.
The error is “error 2501 output to action was cancelled with access vb macro”
The VBA code is
StrReport = “RepInvoice”
StrDocumentName = “C:UsersMaryDocumentsAccessInvoice.pdf”
DoCmd.OpenReport StrReport, acViewPreview
DoCmd.OutputTo acOutputReport, StrReport, "PDFFormat(*.pdf)", StrDocumentName, False
DoCmd.Close acReport, StrReport, acSaveNo
This error occurs at the OutputTo line. This code is part of an user form with a button “save as PDF”.
When this code is run, the report is visible as an example (as meant to be) on the screen. The code stops at the OutputTo line.
When I use
DoCmd.OutputTo acOutputReport, StrReport, acFormatPDF, StrDocumentName,, False
the problem still exists.
I tried to save the report manually by Preview > Export > PDF. The preview is OK, saving as PDF results in the same error 2501. This may lead to the conclusion that this problem is not caused by the VBA code.
I verified whether user write rights are OK, and whether a default printer is available. Both are OK. The report consists of 1 page.
When this very same application is used with Access 2010, everything functions as expected.
I use the Access 2007 runtime to run my Access database on a few client machines. How do I turn off the confirmation of Action Queries? On clients that are also running MS Access, I can simply open Access, go to Access Options and uncheck the box. When I make this change in Access, the same settings apply for the Runtime on that computer. Which makes me think perhaps there is a registry entry I can modify someplace? If anyone has an idea as to how to turn this off for the runtime please let me know.
Thanks!
Is there a way to check if a series of action queries can be run (without any error) before actually running the queries?
View 1 Replies View RelatedI have a form for users to be able to delete or edit records. I have 2 command buttons (Delete and Save), when I click on them I get this error "the command or action is not available now"... It was working fine before but for some reasons it stopped. Even two other buttons actioned by vba codes do not work (No message popping up for these 2)
I checked:
Allow Additions: Yes
Allow Deletions: Yes
Allow Edits: Yes
Nothing is blocked or locked.
I think it has to do with the query my form is based on, as I tried a dummy form based on a table and the button worked fine...? I tried re-creating query+form and no luck. I did remove a field from my query at some point this morning, not sure if this might be the cause of issue, as this field was not connected to anything in my form.
Code:
Private Sub Command124_Click()
On Error GoTo Err_Command124_Click
Dim stDocName As String
Dim stLinkCriteria As String
stDocName = "PRINTSQUARE 1"
DoCmd.OpenForm stDocName, 3, , , , 4
Exit_Command124_Click:
Exit Sub
Err_Command124_Click:
MsgBox Err.Description
Resume Exit_Command124_Click
End Sub
An command button would open a form to display some query result, and how could I do something after user exit that form!! I have tried to put some action afater the Docmd and EXIT_COMMAND124_CLICK:, both didn't work!!
It has been a month and I'm still 'stuck' on my Microsoft Access lessons due to a peculiar error. I have a video of the error, but it won't let me post a link until I have 10 posts. When I create an action button and then scroll at all, the button jumps in size 50% to the right and down, but this extra space can't be edited. Clicking on the 'extra space' is like clicking the background.
I have tried
1. Reinstalling Office 365
2. Reinstalling my graphics card drivers (Using a GTX 560ti SLIx2)
3. Manually entering the size for the buttons in the button properties (still increases in size)
I have a project where the schedule calls for a web-enabled database for 100+ users to merge five separate systems into one. If I can't get past this problem, I can't continue my lessons.
I've rebooted my copy record button and just used the macro wizard for now, it seems to work as far as I can tell but there is something strange about it.
I've added in some text boxes so I've got some confirmation, but when I click this copy button I get the following error;
"The command or action 'RecordsGoToNew' isn't available now."
I'd like a confirm dialog to appear on button click, so when the user clicks 'yes', the on click event should continue and when the user click 'no', the event should stop.
View 2 Replies View RelatedSo I run cash flow for a business, and we export data from Oracle and insert it into an access database. I have to run about 25 queries, entering in the same parameters for each. We number each week of the year. So for say the first week in January, I would run the first query and it asks: Beginning Week, I enter in 1, then another paramter value asks me the ending week. I have to enter in these parameters for each of the 25 or so queries, and it becomes quite irritating. Each query has a number of columns, but I am only interested in obtaining the sum of one of the columns, titled Distribution amount. So I am looking for something that will run each of my specified queries, then spit out the total of the distribution column for each in a table like.
Query 1: Total Distribution
Query 2: Total Distribution
etc....
Is there anything that would allow me to do this, with entering in the week parameter once, say week 1 start, week 1 end. and it use those same parameters for each query?
Hi,
Can I use a macro to run multiple queries in sequence?
I searched on this but did not see anything that indicated how to do this.
Any pointers would be appreciated!
Thanks,
Mark
I've got a Macro that runs well over 100 queries as well as sub-macros. I'd like to know what query the Macro is running. My best solution so far was to create a bunch of forms that open and close with the name of each query, but that's kind of sloppy. I don't think I can use the msgbox because it prompts me to press 'OK' to continue. Any thoughts?
View 2 Replies View RelatedI have a bit of a problem with a database in Access 2013. On 1 of the forms, I have a number of buttons which open other forms and filter the results using an embedded macro. All has been well until a few days ago when error 2950 pop up box started appearing. After fiddling around for a while it all works OK (without actually changing anything) until next time the database is opened. I checked to make sure the location is "trusted" and all seems OK.
View 4 Replies View RelatedI am trying to write a more complex macro that will start another macro at a preset time, however I am getting stopped at the first hurdle - getting a macro to run another macro.
Here is the code i am using at the moment, all I want to do currently is click the first button, then get the second macro to execute. But no luck, getting error 2157 "cannot find the procedure"
Code:
Private Sub Command3_Click()
MsgBox "1st macro running", vbExclamation, "Note"
Application.Run "teststart1"
' Application.OnTime TimeValue("19:55:00"), "teststart1"
[code]....
(I'm not sure if this belongs in the macro or query forum)
I have a macro that opens 15 queries and ends with opening a report.
The final query asks the user to type in beginning date, then an end date. Now when there's a data mismatch (i.e., he spells feburary), the macro halts. No harm no foul, they can just click the command button again, but I'd rather not.
What I'd like to do is place a msgbox (i.e., "Check Your Spelling") and then reroute them back to the query.
Is there anyway to reset a query or macro when you open a new record? My database seems to be holding on to data from the previous record. The data is gained from two queries and one macro.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI have 3 different "buttons" on my form that run individual update queries. I know these update queries are running correctly. Decided to make a macro that will allow me to run all these queries by clicking one macro button.
My question is: Is there some way to stop the pop up msg that advises I am about to run an update query and the next pop up msg that informs me of how many rows I am going to update?
These pop up boxes are starting to drive me crazy when I run the macro.
I have a macro setup that deletes all the records in 2 different tables, then using about 8 queries, appends several records to the two tables where data was deleted. When these macros run, several Yes/No/Cancel dialog boxes come up for each query, first asking you if you are sure you want to do this, that it is going to change data in my table, and then second telling me how many records it's going to append or delete.
Is there a way to make it automatically run Yes to all of these dialog boxes? That would really help out a whole lot. Of instead of that, but maybe some sort of VB code that could do all the deleting and appending without the need of the Macros, and that doesn't require user intervention. I have my Macro's setup on the "On Click" event in a form, so using VB would be no problem at all.
Any Suggestions?
I am trying to create a new macro in my database.
I selected the Openform action and tried to choose the name of the form but when I try and select the name of the form from the dropdown menu, I receive the following message:
THE SEARCH KEY WAS NOT FOUND IN ANY RECORD.
I am not able to see any of my forms on this dropdown menu.
Can anyone please help. I am using Microsoft Access 2002.
Thank you.
Rob
I have a form that maximizes when it loads and that works fine, but when I run a macro to open it the command is bypassed. Is there a way around this?
I've tried setting the code to run on different events (open/activate) but that didn't change anything.
The reason I want a Macro to open it is so I can set the property to Add only, perhaps there's another way I can do that, perhaps as part on the form open event in VBA instead?
I have a sub form that contains two fields of FabricNum(ComboBox) and RollNum(ComboBox). The RollNum is restricted to the FabricNum so whenever I choose a FabricNum, list of RollNum changes respectively.
In order to do that, I created a query that contains the FabricNum and RollNum. The FabricNum in the query is restricted to the chosen FabricNum in the subform. I also have an embedded macro on FabricNum which opens the query, close the query and requery based on RollNumber. All what I have explained work perfect once it gets done in a sub form. When I try to do the same thing in a Main form, it does give me an error.
After researches I realized that I have to change the path in a query and I changed it as following:
[Forms]![FabricUsageDetail1].[FabricUsageDetail2].[Form].[FabricNum].
Unfortunately, I still get an error of 2950 which says the command or action "Requery" is not available now.
