Forms :: SQL With Textbox - Updating Table
Sep 23, 2014I have an sql which is used to update a table
I am wanting to update the column1 with the value of an unbound texbox on a form
I have an sql which is used to update a table
I am wanting to update the column1 with the value of an unbound texbox on a form
I have a textbox on a Page on a Tab Control on a Form.
The Record Source for the Form is set to the Table in which the Field is. i.e. Lessee.
The Control Source for the TB is set to the Field.
When I query the form to get the correct record, the value displays in the TB, but when I try to change the value, it doesn't update.
I also tried using DoCmd.RunSQL in the After Update, but get Record Lock Violation, which is fair enough, as User is in the record that they are trying to update.
Can anyone think of anything here?
I have a form (frmHourEnter) with a textbox (Week_No_Calc) which has a calculation, in Control Source, based on another textbox. After exiting from Week_No_Calc how can I get a field (Week_No) in table (tblHourEnter) to be updated with the calculated value?
View 6 Replies View RelatedI have a form that has combo boxes and text fields (as well as sub forms). There is also a button linked to some code that says'
Private Sub cmdQuote_Click()
'Creates quote date and prints quote
Me.QuoteDate = Now()
Me.cbAgentID.Requery
DoCmd.OpenReport "Quote", acViewPreview, , "BookingID = " & Me.BookingID
End Sub
When the button is pressed the QuoteDate field (it is bound) should be be populated, but unfortunately it is not. I have played with refresh and requery but cannot derive a solution.
I have a combo box (cboManifestNumber) that is based on the following table:
tblManifestData
ManifestDataIDPK (autonumber PK)
ManifestNumber
RemovedDate
ManifestComments
TsdfIDFK (FK frm tblTSDF)
This table is related to:
tblTSDF
TsdfIDPK (autonumber PK)
I need to be able to update tblManifestData with a new manifest number and manifest comments, along with assigning it a TSDF. how to be able to enter a new manifest number and the associated data without having it create two lines in tblManifestData. I thought that I could enter a new manifest number, then requery the table and form so it shows the complete list of manifest numbers (including the recently entered one) while staying on the newest entry.
I have a access 2010 file, with 3 tables.
On my form I have a tape Textbox where I put tape numbers in that is on a other table inside my access file (for now I just type a tape number in), then save the info to other table also inside access file.
I want to know how can I make it that if I put a tape number in the textbox, it must look at the table for tapes, and if the tape number is not in the tape table, it must not let me use the wrong tape number that is not in the table for tapes.
I have a userform that has 4 textboxes and a command button.
The user types in box1 a Rack, in box2 a shelf, in box3 a place and in box4 a shelf.
The user types in Rack textbox 18
The user types in Bay textbox 4
The user types in Shelf textbox 2
The user types in Place textbox 3
I then would like to create that amount of records in a new Temp table.
The attached file shows what the results of the output should be.
I need a textbox to display the first/earliest date from a table.
RThe table is called tblIncidents and the textbox is txtFirstDate
I've considered a variable and tried with querys etc.
I have a timesheet table (tblHourEnter) which has a staff field (Staff_ID), week number field (Week_No) and hours field (Hours_Worked).
The data is entered through a form (frmHourEnter) which has a staff textbox (Staff_ID), week number textbox (Week_No) and hours textbox (Hours_Worked).
I wish to add another textbox (HrsTotal) that would show the sum of all the hours (from the table) which is dependent upon both the Staff_ID and Week_No entries showing on the current form. I.e. the sum of hours is restricted to both staff member and week number showing on frmHourEnter.
This total can be generated from a command button.
Hey, I am trying to figure out how to update an unbound textbox on a form to reflect conditional data in other boxes when each record is viewed (pages works with reports but I cant find something similar with forms). such as if I had an unbound textbox that I want to = firstname+" "+lastname I would want for it to update it every time a user goes to the next record.. I can't seem to figure out a command or method that executes every time someone goes to the next record.. (and Im not too familiar with all the commands that come without a GUI).. thanks for your time
View 4 Replies View RelatedI have created a form and subform using form wizard where users could enter the data of a new order.In the form, there are some expressions where it does a computation of the fees that the company earned for each order. This is a percentage of the gross income.The subform expression formula updates the fee amount and net income automatically when the gross income is entered and fee percentage entered.
Is there a way to update the fee amount and net income which the expressions derived into a data field in a certain table?I actually need these information to be in the table too, as data as they are required by other users.Or is there a better way to do it?I am mainly using wizards and don't know how to use any SQL or VBA.
I'll simplify this form to a
- textbox
- command button
- subform (showing a table with 4 fields, including an "EntryID" field but just one record)
What I'm trying to accomplish is to enter a value in the textbox (this value will be one of the EntryIDs in the EntryID field), click the command button, and the subform should refresh itself, showing the record from the table (the 4 fields) which has the same EntryID.
I have a form frmCrisisSupportWorkers with a tab control on the form. On the first tab, Personal Info there is a combo box called cboLocation. It is next to the Town/City.
I have a text box that updates the postcode after the selection is made below it but that is as the post codes are stored in the combo box and I just put the column for the postcode in the control source of the text box.
I can't do that for state as I have it stored in another table and use a numeric identifier to show which state is selected.
I want to have a text box below that auto updates the state once a town is selected but I can't seem to get it working.
How to update unbound textbox on main form from unbound textbox in subform afterupdate.
that is when amount paid is updated it automatically updates total paid, balance etc.
updating my table when I use cascading combo boxes in my form.What is happening is that my table is being populated by the xxxxID column vice from the xxxxName column that is being used from that specific table.
here is my visual basic code that I am using to determine what the subsequent combo box will display.
Option Compare Database
Option Explicit
Private Sub cboPlanktonID_AfterUpdate()
' Set the Family combo box to be limited by the selected Plankton Type
Me.cboFamilyID.RowSource = "SELECT tblFamily.FamilyID, tblFamily.FamilyName FROM tblFamily " & _
" WHERE OrderID = " & Nz(Me.cboPlanktonID) & _
" ORDER BY FamilyName"
[code]...
Example of the Combo box Row Source is: SELECT [tblWaterbody].[WaterbodyID], [tblWaterbody].[WaterbodyName] FROM tblWaterbody;
My Control Source is PlanktonAnalysis.WaterbodyName
When I fill in the form with the data, The Waterbody name is visable for selection (example: I see "Lake Lillinonah" in the cascading combo box, But when I save the record in the PlanktonAnalysis Table I get a number in the WaterbodyName column vice the name of the waterbody
PlanktonAnalysisIDWaterbodyName172
311411511677118397104113
tblWaterbodyWaterbodyIDWaterbodyName2Ashland Pond3Bantam Lake4Crystal Lake5Gardner Lake6Hungerford Park Pond7Lake Lillinonah8Lower Bolton Lake9Middle Bolton Lake10Pocotopaug Lake11West Thompson Reservoir
When a user selects a name from a combo box then 11 textboxes are populated with personal information.
What I am looking for is when the user edits the persons information (i.e. changes the persons phone number to a different number), how do I update the table with this information?
Is there a way to only update fields that have changed? or do I have to save all textboxes?
I have read about an "Update Query" and a SQL Update, but I did not think the two applied. I am sure that I am wrong, lol.
I tried the "Docmd.Runcommand acCmdSave (in the OnClick event cmd button) but it did not make any changes to the table.
This is what I put in the OnClick event:
Code:
Private Sub cmdSaveEdit_Click()
DoCmd.RunCommand acCmdSave
TextBoxLockDown
Me.Requery
End Sub
I am trying to make an amend record form which gets values from a subform. Most of the values that I need to amend on the form do amend. My problem is that I need to amend a value that is also used to find the record.
The value in the Table(BookInTable) that I am trying to amend is Barcode which is a text value. I have been trying to pass the initial value into a string(Bar) and have been using an SQL Update string.
Code:
Private Sub Command23_Click()
Dim Bar As String
Bar = Forms!FrmAmendOrder.AmendOrderSubform!BarCode
If IsNull(Me![POTxt]) Or (Me![POTxt]) = "" Then
MsgBox "Please enter a value!", vbOKOnly, "Invalid Search Criterion!"
Me![POTxt].SetFocus
[Code] .....
BarTxt and POTxt are textboxes that show the initial values and BarTxt is editable.
By adding watches I can see that when I click the button Command23 Bar = the initial value and BarTxt.value = the edited value. But when I look at the table nothing has changed.
I have a combo box on my form which loads fields from a table and displays them using
Code:
SELECT DISTINCT table_team.team FROM table_team;
I then use
Code:
=[qry_showteamforedit]![team]
in the default value for the combobox to show the team which is saved in the current record.This is the qry_showteamforedit:
Code:
SELECT table_team.team
FROM table_team RIGHT JOIN table_staff_details ON table_team.ID = table_staff_details.team
WHERE table_team.ID = table_staff_details.team;
My problem is when I move through the records, if I change the selected value using the combo box it changes the actual value in the table from the one that was selected to the new one. If I was on record 1 and the teamid saved in there was 1 . It would display "team one" but if I changed that to "team two" it would change record one to say "team two" instead of "team one".I have been searching and found that this is because it is bound to the table so need to remove the text from Control Source, which when I do, breaks it, and it doesn't display the saved team.
what I would like it to do is display all the teams, but default to the one saved by using the id saved in the main table, but allow me to change this value. I would also like a second cascading combo box which will display a list of subteams dependent on what main team was selected and again, default to the values saved in the main table. I have managed to get cascading combo boxes working but combining them with my tables and queries is proving difficult. This is how my tables would be ( just showing the relevant fields)
Staff_table
ID Name teamID
1 Dave 1
2 Tom 1
3 Matt 2
team_table
ID team subteam
1 team1 subteam1
2 team1 subteam2
3 team1 subteam3
4 team2 subteam4
Is it is the subteams that will be unique I would like to save the subteam ID to the teamID field of the staff_table. that way i can retrieve the team and the subteam using the same ID.
Basically, I originally wanted to create a form which I can input data into Access with by using a button (I was unable to get Access to append the information from the forms to the table, so it didn't work out!). I did not want the fields on the form to be linked to a table, as then a record (and most importantly an auto-number) is created as soon as somebody starts typing. Should somebody stop typing halfway through and quit the form an autonumber will have been generated, which makes the number of "users" seem higher than it actually is. I got around this by changing the field from autonumber to number and then creating a query that selects the maximum value of ID in the table, then adds 1 to it (which is essentially the lowest unique number. I tend to call this newID).
The problem I now have is setting this to be written to the table alongside the data from the form (the rest of the fields on the form are now connected to the table, as I am no longer using an autonumber). I have tried the following: Setting the form to run the expression "[ID] = [qryMaximumUserID]![NewID] " on load. This returns the error "The object doesn't contain the Automation object 'qryMaximumUserID.' Setting the control source of the text box to be dLookup. This fills the textbox with the correct value, but then it doesn't write it to the table! Setting the default value of the field to be 0, then running an update query to update any ID of 0 (criteria "0" to the value of newID "update to: [qryMaximumUserID].[NewID]. "). However this doesn't work as whenever the query is run it asks for a parameter to be entered, rather than just taking the value from the other query. Writing a macro that is run on load to SetValue of item:[ID] to expression: [Forms]![qryMaximumUserID]![NewID]. However this returns an error "Microsoft Access cannot find the referenced form 'qryMaximumUserID' you entered in the expression.
If I have a text box (Text1) on my form with comma separated values entered i.e. 100,120,250,300 what would be the easiest way to enter these into a table column with a button click event. I would like to enter these values into my table tb_test under column Values.

User enters an amount into a textbox2, and then it does some calculations that involves textbox1 and textbox2. Finally, textbox3 has the final answer. Can textbox3 overwrite textbox1's data on the table and on the form?
Also, is there an "auto date" feature in tables? If new data is put into tables, Today's date appears on the date column?
I have a form with a Count textbox. It's control source is a field named "Audit Count" in the table "DB Audits". The idea of the textbox is to display a running count of how many audits a specific auditor has completed that day. To do this I have the textbox set up with a default value of:
Code:
=DCount("[Loan Number]","DB Audits","[Auditor] = fOSUserName() And [Audit Date] = Date()")+1
Assuming I'm using the DCount function correctly, this is supposed to count the number of [Loan Number] records entered in the "DB Audits" table by the auditor (whose name is found using fOSUserName()) on today's date. So, for example, when opening up the form at the beginning of the day the Count textbox would read 1 and when the auditor clicked Save and New it would increase to 2.
The problem I am having is something I encountered while doing some random tests of the form. If an auditor submitted an audit (let's say the 1st of the day), the form correctly displays the next count as 2. However, if the auditor were to delete the record from the underlying "DB Audits" table while the form was still open, if they were to enter a new record, the Audit Count field would display 2 even though it should be 1 (since the 1st record had been deleted).
How can I have the Count textbox refresh whenever someone deletes a record from the table while the form is still open? I tried a Requery command using the AfterDelConfirm event but I couldn't get it to work.
I'm trying to build a search form.- Access 2007
I have a table (Table1), contains a 'part' field.
I wan to build a form with a blank text box (txtbx1) where users can enter a part description, this will search records in Table1>part and return a list of parts that match the textbox input.
Here's what I've done -
txtbx1 - property sheet - control source - part
event - on enter - ...
I've built an expression -
[Table1]![part] = [txtbx1]
hoping that this would match records 1n Table1 to txtbx1
How would I update my cash account account table through a form? I have just started working on access and am fairly new to it.
What I am trying to do is to update my master table with all the daily sales through a form. Would I need to write a query into my form?
I have a table which is used to store info regarding medicines dispensed. I also have a corresponding Form to enter data. The fields in Table are
ID- number
Dispensed Date- date with dd/mm/yyyy format
Dispensed Type- text
Quantity- no. of days
Next Collection Date- date with dd/mm/yyyy format
The Form also contains same fields but it has a calculated field for ( Next Collection Date) where i calculate date using Dateadd function. Also the form has a Datasheet view. So records are added when I press Tab or Enter at last field.
Now the problem is the calculated dates arent getting updated in the table. And this is a huge problem as i have to run a query later where i will put a criteria on Next Collection Date.
A textbox on a form concatenates 2 strings. I want to insert that resulting string into a table .how can i do that ?
