Forms :: Search Form Using Textbox And Multiselect List Box
Jul 24, 2015
I have created a multi field search form that have 2 textbox and 2 multiselect listbox(extended). How to make the search form query correctly? Below are the details.
I also have a button that run the query qrySearchForm .how am I going to make the query run successfully with multiselect listbox ? I understand that there are a lot of examples of the vba code for multiselect but that is only for multiselect alone and not like my search form that combine textbox and multiselect listbox.
I have inherited a database that is used to track equipment that comes in for repair. One of the fields in this database is a memo field that lists the parts that are replaced on a piece of equipment. It has been requested that I leave this field as it is. However, I would like to regulate the data that is entered into to some extent. I need to ensure that there is a comma between every part number listed (there is another group that wants data from this database and they want to be able to separate this field out into individual fields). Is there a way to have Access look at the data in a memo field, find all the periods or ampersands, and replace them with commas?
The other thought I had was to provide the person filling in the database with a multi-select list box that lists all the available part numbers for a given piece of equipment. That person could select as many as she wants and when she was done, the database would take those values, put a comma between each one, and paste them in the memo field. Is that possible? What I have tried isn't working. I tried to get it to loop through the selected items and put them in the memo field, but I just end up with the last value selected instead of all of the items selected.
I don't know what to try next, Either the person entering the data is going to be upset because she has to type every part number in a different field, or the people receiving the data are going to be upset because there isn't a comma between each number.
Is it possible to make a form where you have two textboxes to search a table and show the search results in a list under the textboxes? Also making the list items clickable?
How to populate a list box using another list box on the same form. I have this working completely fine if the the source list box has the multi select property configured to be off, however I need it to be set to extended multi select.
I'm new to this message board and I'm glad i came across it. I've been looking for a way to multiselct search using Combo boxes.Reading through the threads here i found one (Posted by SBaxter). I've use the SQL Statements and VB code for my search. It works but not like his for some reason. The problem i'm having is when you open the form it asks for criteria like a parameter Query does. You have to type it in before it loads, unlike his where you click what you want out of combo boxes. At first i thought it was something i did wrong with the query but i've noticed that in his DB if you have the form open and then open the query it doesn't act like parameter. It does if the form is close. With mine that doesn't matter i still have to type it in! So i'm guessing it's with how i set up the list box in my form. I've attached a copy for someone to look at.
I would like to be able to create a recipe (saved in its own table) by pulling items from a multiselect list box (from the raw materials table) but which allows me to add the same ingredient more than once.
I work for a chemical manufacturing company and we need to track the cost of goods by recipe (final product), by linking the ingredients (where the cost of the raws are associated) to the final prodcut. Several of our products need to have chemicals added in the beginning, but then again at the end of the procedure unlike normal kitchen recipes.
(I sure hope I don't have to learn VBA . . . I'm totally new at Access!)
I have a table for experiments - tblexp. Each experiment can have one or more projects within it. So I have a drop down list of the various projects in a separate table - tblprojref with fields project no (projno) and project title (protitle).
When I am setting up a new experiment I am entering the information into a form. Along with other information that populates the underlying table, I would like to have a multiselect list box which allows me to pick the projects linked to the experiment. These would then either populate the same tblexp or another. I can only achieve this if I am only selecting one project from the list.
How can I get the several items selected into different fields and linked to the one experiment? I am new to this and although have found various threads relating to this they include a lot of code which I don't understand. Is there a step by step easy way to achieve this?
I have a quote form that has a button which opens a simple search form with just one textbox which gives the results in a subform. (the search is for the company name and the subform results give the company name with the full address (company, add1, add2, town, county, postcode)
I would like to have a button on the search form, to copy the correct result into a textbox on the quote.Until now I have just had a cmbox on the quote with the companies and addresses listed. Unfortunately, the users are not checking this list to see if the company already exists and are adding a new company but with slightly different information, so I am getting multi companies. (i.e, smith ltd, smith limited, or Hants, Hampshire etc).
I need a button on the main search form that copies the company name from the search results subform and copies it into a textbox on the quote.I have tried this on a button but it doesn't like it:
I currently have two froms, "add record" and "add record cont." The reason I have two seperate forms is because when clients create a new record information needs to be saved to two different tables and when creating one from with fields from both tables I ran into many problems. The two tables are named : tblMain, tblFileLoc Currently there is a textbox on both forms named "fileID" the FileID in the first form is from tblMain and is the primary key for that table, the FileID on the second form "Add Record Cont." is just a normal field. When clients enter in the new FileID in the first form "Add Record" and then move onto the next form "Add Record Cont." i need access to bring the entered FileID from the first form and Fill it in the FileID field in the second form. Currently I have tried making the control source for the textbox on the second form = the textbox on the first form but it brought up an error.
Is there an efficient way to have default text in a textbox on my form (like a search box), but have it so that when a user focuses on the textbox (to type in a search term), the word should disappear.
Just like the search box on windows 7 start menu.
Then, is there a way to have the default text not be the actual text in the box? Otherwise, my search box will search the default text.
Right what im after sounds complicated but its quite simple.
I have a client database, in this database each client has 3 skill fields, i also have a form with a listbox and an unbound textboxes that are linked to the query so when the textbox is typed in the listbox updates.
Now ive sorted out the problem of not all fields showing it some of them are blank now the problem is.
When input text into one of the boxes the listupdates, now if theres text in two boxes. and theres data in one of each that matches it will show neither, because the query is looking for data that matches in both fields, now i need partial matches so it will give results of data in both fields.
not understanding fully what i mean?
i have zipped my db, if you open the db then open the form 'MainListRecTrades2nd' and fill in data in both primary and secondary trades that matches from the list you will see.

The solution i was thinking of would to have 1 textbox that searches all the fields and displays data from any of the fields in the list
I have a database for billing. In my database, I have a form that consists of a main form "Order" and 2 subforms "OrderDetails" and "Customer" OrderDetails are to enter the products to be connected to the Order. All function super, but I want to have some information from one of the forms "copied" over to on of the others.
Here is what I would like
In the subform "OrderDetails" I have made a textbox that summarize all prices to a total, his tekstbox i called "Tekst31". I would like the amount in this textbox to appear in a field "Belb" in the main form "Order".
I have tried some different commands, but nothing has worked, also I have made a query which dose the same ting as the tekstboks, as the information in that tekstbox it not stored anywhere.
I have an unbound form (named frmReportSearch) with unbound text & combo boxes providing the criteria for a query (named qSeqStreets). The form / query utilize 4 optional fields as search criteria plus date from / to. The results are returned via a report (named rptSeqStreets). The whole operation worked perfectly, however I realized I needed to change one of the criterion to a multivalued field. The change in the table (named Tasks) worked perfectly. I used three checkboxes (named chkA, chkB and chkC) to allow the user to select any combination of the 3 choices, including none (to be treated as no filter on [fldShifts]).
The three options in the field (named fldShifts) are "A" "B" and "C". I am able to manually run the query from design view by typing in the criteria "A" Or "B"... "A" Or "B" Or "C"... and any combination of the three options in the criteria box and running the query. I am using the following code under the OK button's OnClick. The Code below has other items related to all the options .... I didn't want to give partial code so you may understand better:
Code: Private Sub btnOK_Click() Dim strShift As String Dim strA As String Dim strB As String Dim strC As String
[Code] .....
My problem is that the query criteria needs to be entered into the criteria box with quotes and separated by "Or" depending on if multiple checkboxes are selected.
I can get the results to show correctly in the textbox, however I imagine the query is adding an extra set of ""s to the string so rather than "A" Or "B" .. it is getting ""A" Or "B"". My query Sql and even design mode are pretty complex, so I wouldn't know how to use the sql in VBA without blowing some fuses.
I have used John Big Bootys Dynamic Search Form, however to search on the fields I want I have created a query which has mutiple tables and when I get a duplicate value in the search box, i.e. in Client, there are 2 client "A"s and when I click on one it automatically chooses both. From here I want to create a double click event to open that records in a form, but I can't if it defaults to both records.
I'm relatively new to Access 2010. I have an excel spreadsheet that I've converted into an access table for the purposes of creating a user friendly form for the end user to search for relevant criteria to retrieve a list of records that fit the requests. There are two main search functions: unbound keyword search (90+ keywords), and either a series of checkboxes or one list box that lists specific countries/regions matched in a column (columns, as I will get to shortly). The region selection is bound by a selection of 15 countries.
The key is each record can correspond to more than one country. This, one record can have "Belgium, Germany, brazil" and the next record can just have "brazil". Thus if someone selects brazil, the query must retrieve the Belgium Germany brazil record in addition to the record that covers just brazil. I've tried to do this with a concatenated column that list all countries and a text box search, I've tried to do this with individual checkbox columns for each country with checkboxes in the search form...and I can't get it to work. I don't fully understand the criteria to set for checkboxes or list boxes. What would be the best way to build this form, an how?
When you use a combobox to search values in the form - and someone searches for a value that isn't there - the form just defaults to the first entry. Is there a way of putting a message box that says "This is a new patient" (or something like that). The NotInList event doesn't work - any ideas??
The user checks the IsSelected (bound to a checkbox) for the items required for further processing, does the processing and starts over. The function of the column IsSelected is to hold the boolean signifying whether or not to process the record, and to bind to the checkbox in the form.
How to retain the user interface (i.,e. selecting using one or more checkboxes) if the database is to be used by more than one user?
I have a search combo box to search for a field on my form. But it just goes to that particular record. The combo box is for client id and it has more than one record. How can I have it return just the records pertaining to the client id choosen in the combo box.
I would like to use a listbox set to multiselect to add records to a junction table. I've been using code to accomplish this with checkboxes (love how it looks and works) but after moving my tables to Office 365 as the backend, linkedto a local frontend, sql does not like this particular set up, and I do not have the time or knowledge to sort out why. So what I need is a step by step to look at the many, in this case possible roles a contact can have, and choose one or more, which then creates a record in the junction table with the contact id and role id.
I would prefer to not use a combobox on a continuous form because every time a user goes to select roles he would have to scroll through all the choices for each separate role.
Hi, i was wondering if it's possible in a listbox with the multiselect option set to extended simply click on a field and open a form with the data of this field..
example: i've a listbox of my customers, (only first and last name)..i click on one of this and a new form with all the details'll open, so i can see and modify stuff... with the multiselect set to none this works..but with the extended??
(btw..i wanna just click on one filed, but i need the extended multiselection on for other options..)
The user can select multiple items (non-sequential) on the listbox, say items 1 and 35313. I'd like the listbox to scroll (meaning display) to the currrently selected item, so that the user can see it while being processed.
I've seen stuff about property ListIndex, which does exactly that, but it's only useful when you have just ONE item selected (in a multiselect listbox apparently it deselects the rest of the items, so no point in using it, I guess, unless there's more to it!!).
So the key here is how to do the scrolling/display.
The code to loop through the listbox and process each selected item is attached:
Code: Dim vItem As Variant Dim Content as String For Each vItem In Me.lst.ItemsSelected 'scroll to selected item ??? 'processing of the selected item Content = Me.lst.Column(1, vItem) 'copy the content to do sth with it Me.lst.Selected(vItem) = False 'unselect the current item Next vItem 'go to next selected item
how to scroll to the currently selected item? Mind that I need to go through the list of selected items to process them for further use (i.e, I need them selected).
I am having a problem with making a textbox visible on a form if a checkbox is checked on the same form. I have done research on this site and have written the code below, but I am getting a Syntax error, see yellow highlight.
- My checkbox is named: Case is a Readmission from WRCA IP to WRCA IP - My textbox is named: Date of Current IP Admission (I have defaulted this textbox to not visible).
Here's the code I have written:
Private Sub Case_is_a_Readmission_from_WRCA_IP_to_WRCA_IP_Clic k() If Case is a Readmission from WRCA IP to WRCA IP =true then Date of Current IP Admission.visible=true Else Date of Current IP Admission.visible=false
I have several databases created and I am wondering if anyone knows of a way to have a textbox that would act as a search field instead of the Access pop up search that you get when searching a field. I would like to set it up that the search would be for Primary Key only. Is this possible or do you have to use the standard pop up search?
i have a login form in access , i want to set the value for the textbox , for example i want to set "Username" appear in the textbox when in click in the textbox clear the textbox like the title in the web it is possible !!
I have a Form in which there is a textbox. I would like the name (caption) of the Form (that shows in the tab at the top of the form) to be named/updated to whatever is entered into the textbox.
