Forms :: Search List Box Duplicate Records

Oct 15, 2014

I have used John Big Bootys Dynamic Search Form, however to search on the fields I want I have created a query which has mutiple tables and when I get a duplicate value in the search box, i.e. in Client, there are 2 client "A"s and when I click on one it automatically chooses both.From here I want to create a double click event to open that records in a form, but I can't if it defaults to both records.

Forms :: How To Duplicate Records

Apr 4, 2013

I have a parent table with two child relationships as follows:

Parent: Material_Assigment
Child: Materials
Child: Employees

The Parent table Material_Assignment uses a form (frmAssign_Materials) with two Combo Boxes (cboMaterials_ID and cboEmployees_ID) to select and create records of....of course assigned materials.

I need or want to duplicate a selected record from the Material_Assigment table (Which includes the Materials_ID(PK) pertinent information and the Employee_ID(PK) pertinent information and edit it to insert the Return_Date and Quantity_Returned information. Since, obviously I can't edit and should not edit the existing record. I Have tried by creating a second form "frmreturn_materials with a Combo Box which shows all the materials assigned. It looks great but when I select a record, I cannot retrieve the data because the record is bound by it's auto number field Asset_ID. I mean, how else can I setup a query to record materials out and materials in?

Forms :: Checkbox / List Box And Unbound Keyword Search

Aug 7, 2013

I'm relatively new to Access 2010. I have an excel spreadsheet that I've converted into an access table for the purposes of creating a user friendly form for the end user to search for relevant criteria to retrieve a list of records that fit the requests. There are two main search functions: unbound keyword search (90+ keywords), and either a series of checkboxes or one list box that lists specific countries/regions matched in a column (columns, as I will get to shortly). The region selection is bound by a selection of 15 countries.

The key is each record can correspond to more than one country. This, one record can have "Belgium, Germany, brazil" and the next record can just have "brazil". Thus if someone selects brazil, the query must retrieve the Belgium Germany brazil record in addition to the record that covers just brazil. I've tried to do this with a concatenated column that list all countries and a text box search, I've tried to do this with individual checkbox columns for each country with checkboxes in the search form...and I can't get it to work. I don't fully understand the criteria to set for checkboxes or list boxes. What would be the best way to build this form, an how?

Forms :: Subform Creates Duplicate Records

Aug 29, 2013

I have a form that uses Table A as a record source and has a subform that uses Table B as a record source. There is a one to many relationship between Table A (one) and Table B (many).The user opens the form to a set record, then uses the subform to create a new record in Table B.

This works perfectly and I can do everything I want. But sometimes the subform creates a blank entry in Table B before I enter any data. Then, once I start entering data, it creates another record in which it stores the data that I am entering.The result is two records: One that only has the date of the record's creation (I set that to be automatic upon creating a new record) and the primary key that links Table B to Table A. A second one is the "true" record, the one which stores all of the data that I am entering.

It won't happen for 10 records or something and there is no apparent pattern. In case it makes a difference, the form is set to open as the subform as the focus.

Forms :: Underlying Query In Subform Creating Duplicate Records On Form

Jun 18, 2014

I have an "Returns" master form that contains two subforms. The subforms contain items that we are returning back into our inventory. The underlying queries in each subform show only those records where the "Return Date" is null. The query(s) works fine, except that if there are 3 items that need to be returned there are 3 records that show in the master Returns form. I tried the Totals option in the query but the I need that Return Date on the subform. I only want one Returns master form to show the 3 records (not 3 records of the same master form).

Forms :: List Box To Filter Records

Jan 5, 2015

I have added a listbox inside my form that needs to filter records based on a field in the databases. For example if I have a record that has the field filled in with a text "reports", then it should only show those record that are on the second listbox. I have duplicated Outlook as an access database where I store all the old emails. The first listbox is called "FolderNames" where it shows all the folders names that are in the column called "FolderNames". The second Listbox is called "Subject" and shows all the subjects from the colun called "Subject".So when I select from the first listbox "Reports", then all the records that have the field filled in with "Reports" should show up in the second listbox.

Forms :: Creating A Search To Populate Subset Of Records

Apr 21, 2014

I have a form that when initially displayed shows all client records in my database with the ability to add new ones through a "Add New" command button. I have another command button called "Search" that displays a second form containing a dozen or so fields to search and filter down on.

When the Search button is pressed, I display search form and enter data in some of the fields for searching. I then click ok and the main form should now display a subset of the records based on the data I entered on the search form.

My dilemma is that the WhereCondition of the docmd.OpenForm doesn't work. The doccmd works to open the form when I don't include the WhereCondition, but the moment I put the WhereCondition in, I get an unknown runtime error (3000).

Here's the code. I've stripped out most of the search fields to target just the one until I can get it working, then I'll add the others back in.

Private Sub cmdSearch_Click()
Dim varWhere As Variant
' Initialize the search string to Null
varWhere = Null
If Not IsNothing(Me.srchLastName) Then
varWhere = "([p_last_nam] LIKE '" & Me.srchLastName & "*')"

Forms :: Search BETWEEN - Filter Query Showing All Records

Mar 14, 2013

I have created a form for a table which contains ~600 movies and their name, genre, rating, director, year it was made, and length (min).I need to be able to enter numbers into the two Year boxes, and then it filters the movies in my database and only shows me records from between those two years. The years in my database are just in one column in the format of: XXXX e.g. 1996 etc..I've tried the code:

Code:

Private Sub Year2_AfterUpdate()
Me.Filter = "[Year] BETWEEN" & Me.Year1 & "AND" & Me.Year2
Me.Filteron = True
Debug.Print "[Year] BETWEEN" & Me.Year1 & "AND" & Me.Year2
End Sub

Year1 and Year2 are the boxes Year: and To: respectively. [Year] just being the column name which contains all my years.When I try to run my query it shows me my records, but it shows me all of them! It doesn't filter it at all!

Forms :: Prevent Duplicate Values With Alert After User Enters Duplicate Value

Dec 30, 2013

We are working on an Access (2007) database that is on a SharePoint Site (2007).

Currently the form is operational, but there is one last thing that would be nice to have.

The table is "Updated Headcount" which contains "EMP_ID" which are unique numbers stored as text.

In the event a new employee is entered in the system by another user on this site we would like to prevent any duplicate "EMPID"s from being entered and saved on the SharePoint, we would also like to alert the user and prevent the data from being saved.

All data is currently bound, so once the user makes a change it is made, no submit button is required.

We are running into some difficulties in doing a dlookup from the value entered and comparing to a column in the table.

TABLE - UPDATED HEADCOUNT
COLUMN in UPDATED HEADCOUNT - EMPID
FORM CELL user will input an EMPID - newEMPID
FORM CELL used for a dlookup to compare what user has entered to what is already in the table - duplicateEMPID

So below is what we are trying to do, we are sure there are a few commands missing....

=IIF(newEMPID=dlookup([UPDATED HEADCOUNT]![EMPID]), newEMPID, "Error, EMPID already exists")

Forms :: Combo Box Wants To Show Records Not In List

Apr 4, 2013

I'm sure there is an easy way to do this but I have not clue.

I have three tables:
Students
STUDID (pk)
txtFname
txtLname
etc.

Classes
CLASSID (pk)
txtClassName
txtClassRoom
etc.

Student_Class (join table)
STUD_CLASSID (pk)
fk_StudID
fk_ClassID

On my Class form when assigning students there is a combo box which shows the students names. Once a student is picked in the combo box their name shows up in the subform.

What I would like is a way to NOT show a student in the combo box after they have been selected. Is this possible? Or should I be looking at another way of doing this?

Forms :: List All Records Then Enter Data

Jul 29, 2014

I'm working on a database that tracks students and grades. I have a tblStudents with Personal details, tblStudentsAndClasses which allows me to have a one-to-many to many-to-one relationship, tblClasses with all the class info, plus a tblGPA.

I'm wanting to list all the Student's names listed with their current class and have blanks for data entry for Grade, Grade status, and have a current timestamp in another field. So the teacher can enter the Grades and Grade Status for all students on one day in a single form (think EXCEL). The way I have it now, is that (x number) grades that have already been entered shows up as (x number) copies of the same student. So my relationships are probably set up incorrectly also.

I can't filter out IS NOT NULL because I wouldn't get any students with grades already entered in.

I've found a post on another bytes.com that is REALLY close to what I am looking for, but I don't know anything about VB to be able to adjust it to fit my requirements. I would have tried to do a forum search here, but I'm not sure what terminology I would search for.

Forms :: Search Form Did Not Return All Data Records For That Particular Result Set

Jun 3, 2013

All using access 2010. Here's the situation. I built a searchform according to datapigtechnologies video. Used a query with criterias on fields i want to search on the form: ex.

Code:
Like [frm]![frmMyform]![MyField]

It worked fine i thought until i ran the same query outside the form without the criteria field. I filtered the query for the same result and the one used on the search form did not return all data records for that particular result set. Ex. on the searchform; I select the fields I wanted to filter then ran the query. I come up with only 9 records when it should be 18 I get with running the exact same query without the criteria and manually filter the results.
