Forms :: Search Button Not Returning Records

Aug 6, 2014

I have a search button / text field on a form with the following code:

Private Sub SearchButton1_Click()

Code:

Dim rsTemp As Recordset
If IsNull(Me.SearchField1) = False Then
Set rsTemp = Me.RecordsetClone
rsTemp.FindFirst "[CompassRef] = '" & Me.SearchField1 & "'"
If Not rsTemp.NoMatch Then
Me.Bookmark = rsTemp.Bookmark

[Code] .....

Unfortunately it only returns the 'No record found' MsgBox, even if SearchField1 is populated with relevant content.

Modules & VBA :: Search Form Not Returning Records With Blank Fields

Nov 14, 2013

I'm creating a search form to filter out data based on certain inputs. My VBA code looks like:

Code:
Private Sub Command18_Click()
On Error GoTo errorcatch
Me.Filter = "([Experiments.Log] Like ""*" & Me.Text21 & "*"") AND ([Expdate] Like ""*" & Me.Text22 & "*"") AND ([BaseSolution] Like ""*" & Me.Text24 & "*"") AND([AddCom] Like ""*" & Me.Text25 & "*"") AND ([Test] Like ""*" & Me.Text26 & "*"") AND ([Plan] Like ""*" & Me.Text23 & "*"")"

Me.FilterOn = True
Exit Sub
errorcatch:
MsgBox "Error #: " & Err.Number & vbCrLf & vbCrLf & Err.Description
End Sub

However, the output does not include records where other fields are blank. I have read that I may need to use Is Null but am not sure how to.

VBA - Search Button To Search Entire Records / Runtime Error 3345

Jun 18, 2014

why the code below is not functioning properly. When I type in an acronym in the textbox, it keeps saying there is an error "Run-time error '3345': Unkown or invalid field reference 'ABO'." I do have ABO in the field.

The dysfunctional code:

Code:
Private Sub btnFind_Click()
If (TxtFind & vbNullString) = vbNullString Then Exit Sub
Dim rs As DAO.Recordset
Set rs = Me.RecordsetClone
rs.FindFirst "[Acronym] = " & TxtFind

[Code] .....

The red highlighted line is where the debugger leads me to. Something with identifying the field? I would like to enable the search procedure to search throughout the entire records rather than just a specific field. How may I write such a line or two?

Forms :: Diary Filter Not Returning Correctly Filtered Records

Sep 12, 2013

I have created a piece of code that filters a sub form of diary records using criteria the user has selected or entered. It was working fine when I made it a month or so ago and now is seems to be returning incorrectly filtered records, for example, I enter 2 dates to return all diary entries between the 2 dates. Yet it misses some records out that should be within the date range, and it sometimes include records that are outside the date range. I am also getting an error when I try and filter the diary entries via the supplier, "data type mismatch", here's the code that, bearing in mind, was previously working fine.

Code:
Public Function filter_diary()
Dim dbs As Database
'Dim qdf As QueryDef
Dim Sqlstr As String
Dim sqlstrwhat As String

Right now I am using a combo box to populate these fields but would like to implement a search function instead to be able to search with whatever information I have.

Search Function Returning Zero Results On 2nd Use

May 15, 2007

Item: Access app front end for an SQL database (production tracking/job logging utility)

Problem: The app has a main search page that allows job entries to be located and opened by varies criteria (job#, job name, etc). I can currently run multiple searches on different criteria successfully but if I open a job window(which has been returned as result of my search) and then close that job window to do a new search my search function will no longer return any results(other then “Calculating….”) unless I close out the access app and reload.

Thanks in advance for any ideas that can point me in the right direction to hunt down my bug.

Search Query Not Returning All Instances

Jul 31, 2014

I have a database for storing part numbers of power supplies, very basic database. I also have a multifield search form and search query. All very basic stuff, however I am new to access and cannot seem to find out what the is causing this issue.

There are 174 entries in the database table, they all start with "0" for the part number, I have wild cards in my Query so that for instance if I searched 0 for the part number field, it should return all 174 entries, but for some reason it only returns 49 entries.

Forms :: Search Button On A Bound Form On Specific Field

Mar 20, 2013

So I'm not new to Access but I am to 2010. It has been a bit "challenging". Here's my first question:

1.) I'm trying to search on a field by using a command button. I basically want to click the button and the following message pops up: Enter MRN.

2.) When the MRN is entered, I would like the form to filter on all records that have this MRN.

3.) In old versions of Access, I would create a Macro for this and then call the Macro in the form.

4.) I've tried the FindRecord action in the Macro but it does not work. I actually came across several actions that don't seem to be working properly (getting error messages).

5.) In my head, this should be one of the EASIEST things to do. I've done this before in several different databases. I will admit it has been a few years since I have used Access for this (ie. building forms, macros etc.). I've primarly used it to pull in a data set and then run some queries to get the data I need quickly versus using Excel.

Forms :: Command Button On Click Function - Search By Hedging Program

Jun 26, 2014

I have a command button using this code:

If Me.Setfilter.Caption = "Search By Hedging Program" Then
Me.Filter = "Hedging Program"
Me.FilterOn = True
cmd.Setfilter.Caption = "Don't Search By Hedge Program"
Else
Me.FilterOn = False
cmd.Setfilter.Caption = "Search By Hedging Program"
End If

Hedging program is the column from the table I am trying to filter, it is a yes/no column. I want it to return all yes values in my query if it says search by hedging program and if it says Don't search by hedging program I want it to disregard the filter. I also have it set so that when I click the button it changes the caption from one to the other. So I don't know if I really need the cmd.setfilter lines because they may do the same as my command button on click function.

Queries :: Search Not Returning Results With A Blank Entry

Oct 25, 2013

I have a switchboard which runs a google style search query to find people based on their first name, surname, date of birth or NI number on clicking the search button. It uses the following criteria in the query Like "*" & [Forms]![SearchF]![Firstname] & "*" for each of the above fields.

This works perfectly until someone inputs a record that doesn't have anything in one of the fields. ie, full name and DoB, but no NI number. When a record is entered in this way, the table stores the record but the search query cannot find it.

Queries :: Multi Search Form Not Returning Results

Sep 11, 2014

Multi search wont return results: Obviously I have my table and search form. But have hit a problem that is probably simple to overcome, but for the life of me I cant see it.

The small peice of code I have used = forms]![searchF]![name1] I have also tried Like"*" & forms]![searchF]![name1] & "*" still not working. The qurey accompanying form (searchF) works to displaying searchF form unpopulated which I believe is correct. I should at this stage be able to fill out the one table heading (name1) where the query should return a result in the (searchf) form but it does not return.

The tables, forms and quries, have all been saved and closed and re opened many times

The form (searchF) propeties have been checked and double checked. I have even built a test table but the same things happen as my main table.

Using One Search Button To Search 4 Tables In A Database?

I would like to use one search button that will look at all four tables and bring up the correct record when the request number is entered. Can I link all the tables to perform this or is code required? Can someone send me in the right direction for how to do this? Give me an example of code if it's required?
Thanks for any help I can get.

Forms :: Add Button To Sort Records

Jan 19, 2015

Ive created a form and one of the fields is a field called "Due Date"

I want to create a button that once pressed will sort the records in order of due date with the oldest being record 1.

How I can get a button to manipulate fields.

Ive got a set of buttons at the bottom of my form (Ive placed them in the footer) that were set up using Access automatically. They go to first, last, next and previous records. Ive also set up two extra, one that creates a new record and another that sets the record.

The thing is that the set record button I would actually like it to take the data in a field called "Frequency", add a random number to it and then set the record.
