I am building a search form in my DB. I have got this working by using a text search box on the main form which then links to a subform that shows the results. This works great, however, when the form is first opened, it shows all the records that be searched. Is there any way that I can stop this? I just want the subform to be blank until a search is ran.
View RepliesI have created a form for a table which contains ~600 movies and their name, genre, rating, director, year it was made, and length (min).I need to be able to enter numbers into the two Year boxes, and then it filters the movies in my database and only shows me records from between those two years. The years in my database are just in one column in the format of: XXXX e.g. 1996 etc..I've tried the code:

Year1 and Year2 are the boxes Year: and To: respectively. [Year] just being the column name which contains all my years.When I try to run my query it shows me my records, but it shows me all of them! It doesn't filter it at all!
I currently have a database which has a fairly simple form linked directly to a table, which records staff attendance information.
It generally works really well, however there is one thing I would like it to do, which is be able to hide certain records from view (rather than delete them completely).
I have a checkbox on the form (bound to a corresponding field on the table) called chkHide (the field in the table is called hide), which is not visible in form view; I have a button that is visible and when pressed by a user it will change the value of the check box to True.
So far so good. However, I would then like to have the form refresh and when it does so no longer show the record to the user (so it looks like it has been deleted, but in fact that record remains in the table).
I have tried applying a filter on load, but I don't know what expression to put in the Filter on the Property Sheet - - I have tried [Hide] = Is Null, but that isn't right. I have also created a Query where I have set the criteria for the field 'Hide' to Is Null and then put the name of the query in the Filter box - that doesn't work either, as it will let me put in new records but not let me see any of those put in before the form was refreshed.
When I add new records to the form and close the form, the tables are updated with the new records, but the new records don't show in the form (navigation).

On my navigation form it shows 1 of 1 and won't allow me to search.It would seem that the search bar is only looking at the current form and not at the records.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI am running Access 2013. I have created a search form with about 10 different categories from a single table. I will only show 5 fields for this example The form is called FrmSearch with
Description
CarNum
SerialNum
Category
Condition
In the query, I have the criteria, Like "*" & [Forms]![FrmSearch]![description] & "*" and have this same criteria for all fields with the proper text field entry. (CarNum, serialnum, category, etc)
The problem I have is that I have over 200 items listed in the Description column but only 2 entries in the CarNum column. When I run the search with nothing in the FrmSearch, it should show all data but it only shows the 2 CarNum. If I put something in the Description, only the two items that show CarNum. I tried to use Is Null and Is Not Null but still doesn't work. I take out the "Like" criteria from the CarNum and it works. So, it seems that it does not pull up all the records because the CarNum has empty fields.
All using access 2010. Here's the situation. I built a searchform according to datapigtechnologies video. Used a query with criterias on fields i want to search on the form: ex.

It worked fine i thought until i ran the same query outside the form without the criteria field. I filtered the query for the same result and the one used on the search form did not return all data records for that particular result set. Ex. on the searchform; I select the fields I wanted to filter then ran the query. I come up with only 9 records when it should be 18 I get with running the exact same query without the criteria and manually filter the results.
have set up a navigation form which contains 5 unbound subforms that are made visible or not visible thru the on click event of command buttons on the main form, the subforms have a command button with an embedded macro that searches for a record based on what has been keyed to an unbound text box on the subform, this works fine when the sub forms are opened independently of the navigation form but when the search is done from within the main form, the error message is, "....cannot find the referenced from frmAQIFAList" subform, I tried referencing the main form name infront of the subform name but this also doesn't work, perhaps this would be better with code ? or is it because the subforms are unbound ?

I know this is a basic thing. I've checked that it's not set to data entry in properties. I don't know what else to do.
the record source maybe? However, It was a tabbed form (cause it contains quite a lot of data capture fields).
this problem has occurred ever since I split my database.
I have a subform that displays records from a query. Usually, there is no issue. Sometimes, though, the subform stays blank for no apparent reason.
Observations:
-Open form and select relevant information (subform stays blank)
-Open query and 1 record is present
-Go form layout view and turn "Data Entry" on, then back off
(The form appears to refresh when this setting is changed and the subform is displaying the 1 record properly now)
-Close form, re-open, and select the same information as before (subform, again, stays blank)
Again, the subform usually displays the records just fine. It's only sometimes that it has this blank issue even though records are present in its source query. I've tried refresh and requery macros on the form and subform, but that doesn't get the information to show up (though, switching "Data Entry" on and off does).

Thanks for all your help on my previous problem but I now have another one that just seemed to start out of the blue. When I open my form the record selectors don't allow me to browse through all the previously entered records. This is a huge problem because if changes need to be made I can't call up the record to do so. I plan on adding a search funtion to the database soon but for now I need to be able to search through the records on my main form. Is there something I should look for or do you have any suggestions?
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I have created forms to add data. What i do is click the add new record command button and add the details. But when i open the form again, it does not show the record which i have just added. However the record is present in the tables.
got any ideas? please help:(
Ok this null value thing is killing me. I have a parameter query that works great. I know if I use Is Null in the criteria field it will show me this. The problem is I made a search form which the users type the value in and it opens a form based on the parameter query, the parameter on the query is [Forms]![Search_frm]![txtClosed]. If they type a date in here it opens the form and shows the user all the closed records. The problem is they want to see all the records that have no value or Null. I've tried eveything to make this work. I'm ready to jump!! Just kidding. Is there a way to do this with out creating another query. Thanks a bunch!!!
View 2 Replies View RelatedI have a datasheet on a form that is unable to show all records in the size allowed. Consequently it has a vertical scroll bar. However, the scroll bar allows scrolling to the bottom whereby there is white space almost the same size as the data records. The horizontal scroll bar does much the same.
Is it possible to just show the records and only the width of the data in them.? No extra records exist in the table to cause this.
I have search filter form that when I click the search button is passing a value in OpenArgs to the Main Form on open event. The OpenArgs is changing the recordsource of the subform on the main form appropriately. However, the main form is referencing all of the records, not just the ones that are int eh subform recordsource. My link master and child fields are correct. There is a 1:N relationship between my mainform table and subform table.
For example, my my subform, the recordsource is diplaying 2 records where the Status = BLUE, however, the mainform (Projects) is showing ALL records even where the status isn't blue. So when I scroll through the mainform records, if the project isn't status = blue, the status subform shows a blank record. I only want the Projects where the status is blue.
I have a search combo box to search for a field on my form. But it just goes to that particular record. The combo box is for client id and it has more than one record. How can I have it return just the records pertaining to the client id choosen in the combo box.

I have a database with 2 tables: tbl_Client and tbl_Orders
I would like to sum the total from the sold products and show them in the form in a text field called 'Total sales" the data from the table orders appear as a sub form in the main form Client.
It would be great to have for each client appear the total sales in the form, but I'm not able to find the formula for this so the table tbl_Orders field "TotalPrice" will be sumed.
I have a form that lets you add records to my table, it works well and I can see the records in my table but then once I use my search form, which also is working well, the new records won't come up when I do a search, it just keeps searching through the records that were there when I created the search form.
View 4 Replies View RelatedI have used John Big Bootys Dynamic Search Form, however to search on the fields I want I have created a query which has mutiple tables and when I get a duplicate value in the search box, i.e. in Client, there are 2 client "A"s and when I click on one it automatically chooses both.From here I want to create a double click event to open that records in a form, but I can't if it defaults to both records.

Unfortunately it only returns the 'No record found' MsgBox, even if SearchField1 is populated with relevant content.
I have a password protected form that works fine. However, when you type in the password it can be seen on the screen. Is there a way I can change that so that when the password is typed in it can't be read (perhaps showing asterisks)?

I have a tabular form which i use to input new payments for tenants.
What i'd like to be able to do, is have another form, with a combo box that i can chose my tenant from, then for a tabular form to show only the payments made for that tenant, sorted in date order.

I am relatively new to Access 2007, I am having an issue with a sub form not showing all the data from a table.
Basically I have 2 tables: Headers and Line Details, they are linked via an order number. The headers will only ever have 1 record per order number but there can be multiple records on the line details table.
I have imported the data into both tables. When I open my main form, all the data from the header file is all visable and all correct for all records. However when I look at the data in the sub form, it is only showing data for some of the records.
I have checked and the data is correctly linked, and if I change the "source object" to point directly at the table in the sub form it shows the record is there. When I point it back to my sub form it is blank.

I had a problem with my database although the problem is very easy because I am out of touch I am not able to solve it. I am attaching my databases along with this thread.
I want that if the user enter First, Last or Inumber in a text field in the Form "search". After pressing the button ‘search’ a the form ‘search_results’ opens and displays all data records that match to the entered parameters.
By clicking on the data record the form ‘candidate’ opens with this specific record and the form ‘search_results’ is closed.
I would be happy if someone help me.
