Forms :: Search Form When Closing Gives Warning - Cannot Save Record At This Time

Aug 5, 2015

I have a "Search" form that I am using to search through a query in a list box of all of my Customers. Once the record that I am wanting to view comes up I highlight it and click a "View" button to bring up another form with the customers full record. When this form is open I am able to update the customer information and add User's to it if necessary.

My problem comes after I click on my save and close button that takes me back to me search form. I want to close the search form and the error I get is "The record cannot be deleted or changed because table "tblUserProfile" includes related records." I click OK and get a SECOND error stating "You can't save this record at this time. MS Access may have encountered an error while trying to save a record. If you close this object now, the data changes you made will be lost. Do you want to close the database object anyway?"

I have already made my changes and saved them in the form with the customer record so am not sure why I am getting an error when trying to close the Search form.

Save Record Without Navigation Or Closing

Jul 20, 2006

Hi

I have a form with a button and a text box

The control source for the text box is a Number field called FileNo in a Table called File. THe default value of the text box is 0.

When the button is clicked a value is calculated using the last value under FileNo in the Table.

The problem is that I have to either navigate the records or close the form in order to save the new value onto the Table.

I need to be able to save a new value to the Table as soon as it is generated without having to close or navigate. So that I get some new value everytime I click the button without closing the Form.
(when the button is clicked 1 will be added to the last value under FileNo on Table File)

Forms :: Go To New Record On Subform After Closing Pop Up Form

Jul 9, 2013

I have a form (frmAuditEntry) that includes a subform (sfrmAuditDetail). The user will enter audit information on the subform. There is a check box on the subform to identify containers that had errors in selection. When the box is check by the user, a pop up form opens where the user can enter the details regarding the type of error. The audit number and the container ID are carried over from the main form to the pop up form to link the information.

This is the code I have in the AfterUpdate event of the checkbox:

Private Sub Errors_AfterUpdate()
Dim rs As Object
Dim strBookmark As String
strBookmark = Me.ContainerID
Me.Requery

[Code] ....

This works great and keeps the focus on the record the user checked having errors so the right information transfers tot he pop up form fields. When the pop up form is closed, the focus goes back to the subform but keeps the focus on the container ID control of the record that the user previously checked as having errors (hope that makes sense).

What I would like to happen is this: When the pop up form is closed, I want the focus to go back to the subform but to go to the last blank record on the subform (if the user moved off the record before checking the error checkbox) or go to a new record (if the user did not move to a new record already before checking the error checkbox).

Warning Before Closing The Database

Apr 18, 2006

Hi,

I was wondering if anyone might be able to help me out. Is there a way of programming the access database in such a way that it doen't shut the whole database if someone by accident, presses the cross sign which is right on the top right hand corner. I'd like it to ask the user if they really want to quit first. This way, all the unsaved work can be saved prior to the closing.

Is this possible?

Thank you in advance

Forms :: Saving A Record And Closing A Popup Form

Jun 15, 2014

I have a popup called by a subform to add a new record or edit a selected record. I keep getting "Runtime error 32502". The value you entered isn't valid for the field "|"

I have no required fields and all the drop down related fields have the right value type in them (That I can find)The only "|" reference I can find is in the OpenArgs content below when I load the form. If I'm adding a new record I pass two fileds via the OpenArgs

Private Sub Command52_Click()
DoCmd.OpenForm "AddDebtorPaymentFrm", , , , acFormAdd, OpenArgs:=Me![DebtorId] & "|" & Me![MatterId]
End Sub

or if I'm modifying a record from the subform on click I

Private Sub Text38_Click()
DoCmd.OpenForm "AddDebtorPaymentFrm", acNormal, , "[Transactions].[TransId] = " & Me.TransId, acFormEdit
End Sub

Below is the Popup Load code

Private Sub Form_Load()
If Me.DataEntry = True Then
Me.VariableHeading = "Add A Debtor Payment"

Forms :: Save Form Record On Move To Next Field In Record?

Jan 15, 2014

After I enter data into one field in a record I would like the form to save the record when I move to another field in the same record. It seems that the record is only saved when I exit it entirely. Is there a way to save a record when moving between fields in that record? Can this be done without using an Event Procedure for each field?

Forms :: Save Record And Close Form

May 16, 2013

I have a simple EXIT command button that runs these macro actions: save record, close form. I also have a SAVE command button that runs this macro action: save record. If a user closes the form without clicking either the EXIT or SAVE command buttons, will the record changes be saved in the datasource table.

I have found from testing that the data is always saved even if the user does not click the EXIT or SAVE buttons, but I wanted to be absolutely certain. Is this correct ?

Cannot Save Record At Time Error

Jan 4, 2012

We have a database stored on a network drive used by a number of people across the organization over a Windows XP Network. I have an strange issue where some users get the error attached when trying to amend a record. However other users are able to amend the very same records. All the relevant user/windows permissions are identical. There is no security/permissions settings on the database for it to behave in this manner. The record seems to lock itself the moment you try to edit it.

Forms :: Search From Multiple Table At Same Time In A Form

Jun 26, 2013

I am attempting to create a search form where a user can search by either employee name or company name. I have 5 tables to use. Is there a simple way of creating a search method for this? I would like to be able to have the user type in a name and click a button that says search with any records matching the search come up. However, I could definitely use a method where they type it in a box and it finds it as the person types.

How to search from all five tables at the same time.

Queries :: Save Changes Warning No Longer Popping Up

Aug 15, 2013

Periodoically, the "Save Changes?" warning that pops when closing a query whose design has changed stops popping up, and the changes are automatically saved. I've tried going into the immediate window to change SetWarnings to True, but that doesn't fix the issue. (Further, I've scoured my code for instances of "DoCmd.SetWarnings False" to make sure that they are always followed by a "Docmd.SetWarnings True" in the Exit lines.

I've tried searching a number of different sights, and all I can find are instances of people talking about wanting to disable the Query Action warnings, which I don't want to do. I just want to be able to fiddle with queries, but then close them without saving in case I butcher something. I could create a copy of the query and fiddle with that, but I shouldn't have to...

Forms :: Search Form To Add New Record

I've got an employees table and a tool box talk table, they are linked by NI Number. This is what it looks so far (although the records are showing in the form).

Forms :: Select A Record On Search Form

Feb 28, 2014

Attached is a snippet from my search form.

I have a search on Last Name, and in this example, I use Last Name beginning with "m". That pulls up two matching, filtered results, Mickey and Mimi.

All the controls in the detail section are disabled because I don't want the users to make any edits here. I want them to click on a row and that will take the Record Number from that row and open up a Detail form. This is where they will make their edits.

I've set the On Click property for the Detail section to run a procedure. The event procedure works fine if the user clicks on the selected row. Notice the record selector in the picture is pointing to Mimi. If the user clicks on Mimi, everything works fine. If the user wants to open Mickey's record, they have to move the record selector first and then click on Mickey (2 clicks). If they don't move the record selector first, nothing happens.

Is there a way to change the selected record when the user clicks anywhere in the row? Again, all the controls in the row are disabled, so this doesn't happen automatically like it normally would. I considered putting a command in the On Click property, but that event procedure seems to only run if the user clicks on the selected row. I just need the selected row to change if the user clicks on a row other than the currently selected row. How do I do that?

Forms :: Main Form And Subform Search For Same Record

Nov 20, 2014

I am currently working on a project in access 2010 and I am having a search for record dilemma. I have a main form that has a subform in it under a tab control. I place a search box at the top of the form so that user could select either the ID, the internal case number, and/or the reviewer name in the text boxes to search the record.

I have tried the using the search for record macros and the convert the macros to VBA and possibly write so extra coding for calling the subform into the search but nothing seems to work in getting the search in sync between the main form an the subform. VBA code that will look for same record in both forms.

The reason for the tab control is because depending on the data entered the users switch between mid section data about case and so one set of info goes into one tbl and the other goes into another, but the subform that I am referring to in this question is being generated from the same tbl as the main form.

Forms :: Deleting Record When Closing After Autonumber Has Been Incremented

Oct 15, 2014

I have a form that I want to open on a new record (with an Autonumber-based ID string that is a calculated field) and this uses a hidden field in the form when it opens to spawn a new record, ready to be related to some additional items in a join table. The user selects those from a list box.I want to add a "return to main menu without saving" button, but not matter what code I use, it obstinately continues to save the record.

Code:
DoCmd.Close acForm, "JobPlanfromCAFs", acSaveNo
on the command button - no effect.

I also tried this code on the form's BeforeUpdate method. No effect. The new record continues to exist.

Code:
If Not (Me.NewRecord) Then
If MsgBox("Would You Like To Save The Changes To This Record?", vbQuestion + vbYesNo + vbDefaultButton1, "Save Changes to Record ???") = vbNo Then
Me.Undo
End If
Else
If MsgBox("Would You Like To Save This New Record?", vbQuestion + vbYesNo + vbDefaultButton1, "Save This Record ???") = vbNo Then
Me.Undo
End If
End If

I suppose I can 'query out' incomplete records at other places in the database, but it's annoying to not be able to return to the same JobID again if you don't save it.

Detect If New Record If Closing Form

Jan 31, 2008

Hey,

I have a form with 55 values entered. On closing the form, I need it to decide if this is a new record. If it is a new record, it loads all 55 values into an array. If all values are above 20,000, it goes ahead and closes the form. If any are below 20,000, it writes the record to another table and brings up that form to add add a comment.

Every thing does as it should except determining if it is a new record. What property will trigger it properly? All the properties I have tried either triggers it on all the records (even if it is an old record) or it does not trigger it and closes without prompting the code.

Forms :: Multiple Record Input At Same Time In Form

Sep 15, 2013

We store data for clients which can be found online. Our current method of getting the data so we can analyze it is to copy a table found online and pasting it into excel.

What we want to do is to copy that data into an access table. This equates to inputting multiple records at the same time. There are 5 columns and around 20 rows (records) pasted at the same time. I want to do this in Access, through a form which would them store that data in the appropriate table.

I assume there is an ActiveX control out there which can put a spreadsheet in an access form. Then i could maybe write a VBA procedure to input the data into a table.

- A repeat click would take me to the next result/record (if any) with the same criteria

Blank Record Created When Closing Form

I have a statistical program and the user constantly use the form to check calculations and get out without saving a record. In order to allow this with out writing to the table I used unbound fields and an accept and close command buttons.

This worked well until I added a subform to one of the forms. Now, if I just open that form and then click the close button, I get a blank record in the table associated to the main form. Is there a way to stop this?

Forms :: Give Warning When Switchboard Form Opens?

Oct 2, 2014

I have a table which holds information relating to a fleet of vehicles; each of these vehicles is currently physically checked on a daily basis for a number of items, one of which being to check that the vehicle has valid VED (tax disc).

With the paper disc being abolished now, we have a situation where the individual using the vehicle cannot be certain about its VED status (the chances of one not being taxed is next to nil, but we are talking a fleet of nearly 1000 vehicles here, so anything is possible)

Our current database has most of the vehicle information stored already, so in theory I think I only need to add a couple of fields, which will make the table structure (roughly):

FleetID
RegistrationNumber
CallSign
MobileTelNo
MOTExpiry
VEDExpiry

With the latter two being the added fields.

Now, what I was wondering.....

Is it possible that when a Form (not related to the table, and most likely the main switchboard form) is opened that both the MOTExpiry and VEDExpiry dates are checked, and if either or both of them are due to expire within 7 days or have already expired that a warning appears (vbaOKOnly messagebox would do fine) stating that there are vehicles that require their MOT & VED dates to be checked and updated accordingly)?
