I am trying to create a search box in Access 2010 inside a form. I have managed to create a search using the 'Surname', but what I am unable to do is to factored in multiple records with the same surname.
Currently, the search field sits within the Form Header bar. I enter the surname or part of surname and click the command button which searches. Using MoveFirst and FindFirst, it jumps the form for the first record that matches (or partially matches).
However, there will be occasions where there will be more than one record that matches. What I want to do is to be able to jump to the first record, but if thats not the one I am looking, if you click search button again, it jumps to the next matching records etc... until I hit the I want?
I have tried the MoveNext, Previous, Last commands, but they dont work. Any quick fire coding out there?
I am using John Big Bootys Dynamic Search Form (built in Access 2003) as it totally met my search requirements, however when typing anything into the search box it is realy slow, taking several seconds for each letter to show in the box.
This has always been a problem now and again, however some of us have upgraded to Office 2010, (although still using the 2003 built Db as we won't move to a 2010 version Db untill March next year) and now the problem is even worse that ever. Everything else seems to work really well except for this search function, however it is the search function that is used more that anything else.

i need to create a form in access 97 that enables me to search for a keyword on a given search area, for example the cd/dvd rom drive for files and folders
I am trying to get a button on my form to open two reports, and also go to a website. Once at the website I want it to type in a search bar based off of the criteria of the two reports. I currently have it able to open both reports correctly, and I can get the website to open, but I am not able to find a way to get access to type anything once on the website.
I've built a PostgreSQL database for some ecology data and am trying to use MS Access 2010 to make a front-end for it.
I've created a form to display site data; it includes such fields as site ID, site name, county, state, landscape, etc. (There are more, but if I can get the idea down with a couple of these, I should be good to handle the rest). One can click through the form and see 14 pages of site details, which is fine because there are 14 sites.
What I want to do now is make a search form in which one can enter values for site ID, site name, county, etc, and somehow get the pages of the display form that match those values. It's not terribly important to me how that output looks - whether it's a list of matches that allows for clicking on a match and showing just one page of the display form, or whether it's a filtered subset of the display form pages that one still clicks through to view them all.
if there is code to write, where do I type it? Do I start my search form by making a form with the search fields as values, or is there some other way? How do I make those search fields into search boxes rather than display boxes?
I have a form with two textboxes called: txtAptDep, txtAptArr.
On their right side there are two buttons (btn1, btn2) to open a form called frmAirportSearch. It allows to choose (from a listbox) the airport to be filled in those two textboxes.
Now, if I search for an airport pressing btn1, I want the airport to be returned into txtAptDep, while if I open the form by btn2, the airport choosen must be returned in the second textbox.
I have a problem to make a search form in access, I want to divise my form, at the top will be the search criter (8 fields) and in details section will appear the result. I use a continuous subform with a query on the searched fields. But I can't actualise or open the subform with the new results. I would like a button to start my search or a system to automatically show the result on AfterUpdate event.
Can you help me, please? i trying to solve this for a long time...
I have a access 2003 database, and i am wondering if i can't setup a search function in a form that will open a file in windows explorer?
What i would like to do is have a test box that i enter in a number for example: 1234 then have a button named "Search" hit that button and it opens a corresponding file in windows explorer named 1234, or just opens that folder directly..
I'm creating a database for work to do with health and safety. What I'm trying to do it create a form, where I search for a certain employee (by surname or id) to add a new record against that name.
I've got an employees table and a tool box talk table, they are linked by NI Number. This is what it looks so far (although the records are showing in the form).
I have a table with columns: Login, First Name, Last Name
I need to create a form with one text box and a Search button. When i enter the Login in text and click the button it should give me the details.I am able to do it with single Login being entered. But the catch here is i want to enter multiple Login in the single text box and search and it should give me the result.
I'm novice in access 2007 I've a project that contain a Table a form with Subform bound to that table, on tthe main form I've unbound [text boxes] and a [search button]. I want that my form act as a search form , so when I click the search button it show the only result an that table subform. I've read a couples of article, it look like I've to use some VBA code!
I have a form that acts as a search form where the user inputs a string of text which then updates and filters a list box. For some reason when it does this it highlights the 2nd row on that list, even if there is no data there. How can I get it to automatically highlight the first row? The database is attached and the form in question is FRM_SearchMulti.
Im trying to have a search function in my Access database but as of yet nothing has worked!
The search box will go in the header of the main form .
So basically the form is for recording faults with systems. However i want a search funtion on the same form so i can seach by a reference number and close the ticket.
I have a form that shows details of a record. I have a command button to open associated records in another form in DS view. My code will open the DS and show all records or filtered to specific record.
What I would like to do is use code on command button to open DS view and simply highlight (find) the record that was being viewed in the first form.
Main Form = frmBroachBase DS Form = frmBroachBaseDS
Associated fields on both forms are - [AutoID], [BroachID] - that can be used to link the two forms.
I'm using this search form.I have never had issues with it until today. When I type the letter "i" as the first letter in the 'Search For' box, I get the following error:"Microsoft Office Access can't move the focus to the control SearchResults"..Also, when I type "i", it shows up in the box as "I" and is the only letter that does this.
In my database I've encountered a hitch - I've got one form set up to view one person at a time and I've got many records in this database - Is it possible to create a textbox and a button called search that will take me to the record containing this text?
i.e currently im on record abc i type into the text dfe and press search - it will take me to a record that contains that text?
I have several forms in a navigation form. On all the forms, the little search bar at the bottom shows # of 103 records. On my navigation form it shows 1 of 1 and won't allow me to search. It would seem that the search bar is only looking at the current form and not at the records.
I have a form with two unbound text boxes: HireMovieID and HireCustomerID, and a button HireButton which runs my query: HireHistoryQuery. Then I have a table: HireHistory. In my HireHistory table, I have my CustomerID's along the top as column names. Then the records for those columns are in this sort of format: "0001 on 19/05/2006" as type Text. How can I make it so that when a user enters a Customer ID (e.g. 23) into my HireCustomerID box in my form, it shows column number 23 and all it's records?
Also, what code do I need so that if someone enters something into the HireMovieID text box in my form (e.g. 0001) it shows all of the instances of that from the whole table in its respective column?
I have a form which is for searching for and then viewing a record based on a text box and pressing enter. This is working fine. My ID field is 4 digits and when I change the 4 digits and press enter it shows me the details for the record in all of the other boxes:
Private Sub txtJobID_AfterUpdate() If (txtJobID & vbNullString) = vbNullString Then Exit Sub Dim rs As DAO.Recordset Set rs = Me.RecordsetClone
[code] ....
My question is, as this is not a data entry / additions / deletions form (I have editing and filters to yes though) How do I get it to load empty? Not on a new or blank record but empty until I have typed my 4 digits. Just to clarify, my txtJobID box is empty on load but all of the other fields show the first record.
I have a search on Last Name, and in this example, I use Last Name beginning with "m". That pulls up two matching, filtered results, Mickey and Mimi.
All the controls in the detail section are disabled because I don't want the users to make any edits here. I want them to click on a row and that will take the Record Number from that row and open up a Detail form. This is where they will make their edits.
I've set the On Click property for the Detail section to run a procedure. The event procedure works fine if the user clicks on the selected row. Notice the record selector in the picture is pointing to Mimi. If the user clicks on Mimi, everything works fine. If the user wants to open Mickey's record, they have to move the record selector first and then click on Mickey (2 clicks). If they don't move the record selector first, nothing happens.
Is there a way to change the selected record when the user clicks anywhere in the row? Again, all the controls in the row are disabled, so this doesn't happen automatically like it normally would. I considered putting a command in the On Click property, but that event procedure seems to only run if the user clicks on the selected row. I just need the selected row to change if the user clicks on a row other than the currently selected row. How do I do that?
I am building a search form in my DB. I have got this working by using a text search box on the main form which then links to a subform that shows the results. This works great, however, when the form is first opened, it shows all the records that be searched. Is there any way that I can stop this? I just want the subform to be blank until a search is ran.
The following works when I am searching a form on a value in a sub-form where the value is text
Private Sub find_boats_by_enq_no_Click() Dim stDocName As String Dim strSQL As String Dim trz As String trz = InputBox("Enquiry number??") stDocName = "find_boats_by_enq_no" strSQL = "SELECT * FROM boats INNER JOIN prices ON boats.[boats-prices#] = prices.[boats-prices#] " _ & "WHERE prices.[stn-enquiry-number-1]= '" & trz & "'" Me.RecordSource = strSQL End Sub
What changes do I need to make if "prices.[stn-enquiry-number-1]" is a number rather than text. I'm thinking I dont require some of the "dims" and I'm not sure if I don't need to do something with the quote marks...
