Forms :: Set Field In Table - Not Allow Duplicate Date(s)
Feb 13, 2015I can't use Dlookup or set field in table to no duplicates because of code constraints.
EmployeeID is the PK
WorkDate is the Date Field.
I can't use Dlookup or set field in table to no duplicates because of code constraints.

I don't want to allow more than one instance of (HolDte) for the same EmployeeID
PHP Code:
 If DLookup("[HolDte]", "tblHour", "[EmployeeID]='" & Me.EmployeeID.Value & "'") <> Me.HolDte.Value Then
    Exit Sub
End IfÂ
I have a data entry form linked to a table that records daily catch details (date, invoice number, buyer, kilos, price, etc). For the last 2 years I've been using the no duplicate index on the date field of the table to prevent duplicates, until he (my husband) decided that he wanted to sell his catch to different buyers on the same date.
I've changed the index to allow duplicates but now I need to create a message box which warns that he is entering a duplicate date as he has a history of trying to enter the same info twice. I've found examples of code that warns on duplicate text entries but nothing for duplicate dates?
I have a form that is based on a linked table of students eligible to complete a online survey. Within that form, I have a sub form (based on another linked table) of students who have completed the form and at what date and time.
Only about 1 in 10 eligible students complete the form.
I'd like to filter by students who have completed the form, and sort by date submitted.
So I have the main form called "students" and the subform with the date submitted is called "New - BasicInfo subform" and they are linked by student ID. The date submitted field in the subform is formatted like "5/6/2013 3:07:32 PM".
I've tried adding this to me "filter" field in the STudents form properties:
Between [Students]![New - BasicInfo subform]![05/06/2013] AND [Students]![New - BasicInfo subform]![10/01/2013]
No luck, I get syntax error missing operator.
I have a form that each day needs to be filled in by staff of their activities.
By selecting a date, I want to the textbox to display the contents of the comments memo pad field in the table (tblToday...columns are t_date and t_comments).
My very limited access and previous SQL knowledge has eluded me and cannot fathom how to get the text box to show data based on the date selected?
Does this sound like a corruption problem?
I added a new field to a table, and saved the table. When the table is reopened, the new field is not there! I thought perhaps I forgot to save the field, so I tried adding the field again. When saving, the error said, "cannot save; duplicate field name".
If I go to toolsoptions and click the "show system objects" the field will show up??
Do you think the best course of action is to import all the objects into a new db and try again?
Thanks for your help.

I have a simple database that I put my execptions in for the day for scanning. Is there a way that my serial field on my forum can check to see if someone already scanned that serial for that day using the "On Lost Focus" event.

I would like to know what the best way to input a duplicate record is with the exception of 1 field that is used to correspond with the proper parent of the record?
Here is an example of the problem, We receive a letter with pertinent information that corresponds to 30 of our facilities. I would need to enter this 30 times so that when the users of this information run their reports for their facility I can ensure that the letter would be referenced.
I am building an Access database for a client. It is an employee staffing database. With that being said they would like the ability to automatically populate the "T2PPCD" date field based on what is entered into the "Report Date" field. (Same table)
The date is the Monday after 180 days from the report date.
I already know how to get it to auto fill 180 days from the "Report Date" but I'm not sure how to tell it to give me the Monday after 180 days.
I have recently started working for a new company and have inherited a nightmare of a system!
I have basic knowledge of Access and have been asked to stop duplicate entries under the same PO Number.
I have tried using DLookups by looking at other posts on the forum with no success.
The input form is called Purchase Order Entry, with the field called PO_No. The table is called Orders, with the field called Purchase Order Number.
I have tried to make the Purchase Order Number in the Orders table, the primary key but an error that it cannot contain a null value appears.
The Purchase orders may not be entered into the database in numerical order also.
Access form fields (ID, Name,File_Ref,Mobile,Email, Closed (yes/No)
If Click My Command button at the same auto tick the current record closed filed and duplicate record.
I have a database that lists all the books I have read. The Table "Books" holds "AuthorId' "Title" etc. I have another table that is called "Whats Next To Read" which I store the next book that I will read from that author. It also uses "AuthorId" and "Title" etc. In the form, how can I look to see if the title put in for that author in "Whats Next" does not have the same title already in "Books" table. I can use Dcount to find the title but it could be same title different author. I need same title with same author.
This is what I have so far.
If DCount("Title", "Books", "Title = '" & forms!Whatsnexttoread!Title & "' > 0 Then
Msgbox "Title is already in books.", vbInformation
End If
I need it to only look at the same author.
I've inherited a database into which the user (not me) is entering essentially the same Date data twice: field 1 contains 6/19/2014 and for field 2 they enter June-14 (the month and year from field 1).
I suspect there should be a way to derive and then reformat the display of field 2 based on the contents of field 1, such that the user only has to enter the first. Is this true? If so, how?
(I know there really is no need for the 2nd field, but existing reports and queries are built around it -- so for right now, I'm just trying to eliminate the duplicate data entry)...
We are working on an Access (2007) database that is on a SharePoint Site (2007).
Currently the form is operational, but there is one last thing that would be nice to have.
The table is "Updated Headcount" which contains "EMP_ID" which are unique numbers stored as text.
In the event a new employee is entered in the system by another user on this site we would like to prevent any duplicate "EMPID"s from being entered and saved on the SharePoint, we would also like to alert the user and prevent the data from being saved.
All data is currently bound, so once the user makes a change it is made, no submit button is required.
We are running into some difficulties in doing a dlookup from the value entered and comparing to a column in the table.
TABLE - UPDATED HEADCOUNT
COLUMN in UPDATED HEADCOUNT - EMPID
FORM CELL user will input an EMPID - newEMPID
FORM CELL used for a dlookup to compare what user has entered to what is already in the table - duplicateEMPID
So below is what we are trying to do, we are sure there are a few commands missing....
=IIF(newEMPID=dlookup([UPDATED HEADCOUNT]![EMPID]), newEMPID, "Error, EMPID already exists")
table name : Schedule
Field 1 = Vessel code
Field 2 = Voyage
Field 3 = ETA
Field 4 = berthed
Field 5 = Sailed
there is a query by using above table and data entry form based on that query.
need to add following facilitate
While data entering, if given voyage number is already exist for the particular vessel code, msg should be pop up immediately at that time saying " This voyage number is already exist"
How could this be manage ?
I am building a database to track contract of employees so that I can know which contracts are valid and which are expired.
My table has the following fields:
ID (Primary key)
Employee ID (Foreign key to link to the employee table)
Start_Date
End_Date
Status (Either valid or expired)
Challenge
I want when I enter the end date, the system checks the end date against the current date and fills in the status field with either valid or expired as appropriate. For instance if the contract end date is March 10,2016, the status must be filled in the word valid.
We use access to enter our service tickets in at work. What we have are three date fields.
Call Date
Start Date
End Date
We are 24/7 operation.Currently all 3 just autopopulate with the current date. What i would like to do is ADD a CHECKBOX next to each Date Field. And make it work like this.
1. let them autopopulate as they are currently
2. if you end the call AFTER MIDNIGHT (the next day). CHECKING the box would automatically populate yesterdays date in each of the fields that has the check box CHECKED
I am using Access 2007 and I have had a curious issue arise.
I like to use the Date Picker feature on all my forms to make it easier to enter dates. I have set up each table's date field property to "show date picker for dates", as per attached (.jpg)
When I use that particular field in a form, I also set up the field to allow for the Date Picker option (date picker form property sheet.jpg)
The curious part is that not every form that I set up actually shows the date picker when I select the date field. Some forms it works perfectly, others it doesn't.
i have just started to use access and i know how to insert the current date into a field using date() but i am not sure will this change the date everytime i open the form ? i want to create a form for invoices that shows the date the invoice was created and doesnt change if i re open for editing,
View 1 Replies View RelatedWorking in MS Access 2010. Data must be entered and updated in Access only. Trying to figure out if it's even possible to auto populate dates in multiple fields in a form that are triggered when I enter ANY date in a primary date field on the form. I have close to half a dozen fields I'd like to do this for but here are a couple of the fields I'm working with:
Re Insp Date 90 Day Notice(Form field to be triggered and show a date 90 days prior to the trigger date)
Re Insp Date 60 Day Notice (Form field to be triggered and show a date 60 days prior to the trigger date)
Re Insp Date (Trigger date)
What I'd like to do is enter values in the "Re Insp Date" field (in the form) and have it trigger/auto-fill/auto-populate the "Re Insp Date 90 Day Notice" so that it shows the date 90 days prior to the "Re Insp Date" and the "Re Insp Date 60 Day Notice" so that it shows the date 60 days prior to the "Re Insp Date"........all this, and have it auto-update the queries and tables its linked to.
I've tried looking online and in instructional material to see if there is a formula, equation, macro, an expression or VBA coding that I can use to execute this but am having no luck.
The MAIN OBJECTIVE is to have the the linked query and table update automatically. Possible??
I have tried doing =([Re Insp Date])-90 but no dice...
I have a make-table query that pulls all the fields from 1 table (MainTable), and creates a new table with a date stamp based apon a form value entered (New Table = MainTableWithDate).
Currently, I setup the query to pull info from the form field like this:
DateField: [Forms]![frmmain]![DateField]
However, when the make-table query is done - all date fields are blank (all other fields are correctly created), and when I look at the new created table (mainTableWIthDate), the typeassigned to the date field is "Binary" (in the form, I've specified LongDate).
Hello,
I have a problem with my access base and i would like your advice. I have two tables in my base, in the first “Data” I have a field which name “Mtt”. I would like to transform the field name “Mtt” by the name of month preceding (if i‘am in August, I would like July like in the base DataAfter) but I would like make it by the code but i don’t know how can i do this ?. Is it possible to use the function Now().
In the second Table “Database” I have a lot of field and I would like insert a new field each month. I would like take the data “July” in the base “DataAfter” and insert this new field in the table DataBase. I would to do this operation each month. How can I do this?.
Thanks for your help,

I need to create a table that is centralized around the year. Do I just use a number field or a date field?
View 14 Replies View RelatedI have a table which has a form as a front end. One of the fields is for the date, I put the date in fill in the rest of the form and everthing is ok. Its then time to add more info to the database under the same date, so i put in the same date on the form but instead of adding onto the existing date field it creates a new row within the table. This means I have 2 rows within the table with the same date, and all i want is one date and you add onto that date range until the next day?
View 1 Replies View RelatedI have field in my form and the entry is required. The data type is date. I need to keep the date type as date. My problem is if the date is not available, the user has to enter "Nor Available". Is there any way I can achieve this? What are the other option available to me? The reason is this record will be exported to a pdf form which requires the Date or the text "Not Available" in the specified pdf field.
