I have a Dynamic Search form, which I use to search for client, on the double click it takes me to the client, at which point I have the Forms Visible set to False.
When I click on a button to open that Form, the Visible turns back to True, however it shows my last search results, how do I clear it so that when I call it back up it is ready to search again, and my focus is set to the SearchFor box.
I have a sub form on a tabbed control. In the subform I have some calculated controls and I make them recalc when ever data in other fields change bu entering a recalc cmd in the update event of the required fields. That is all fine but the problem is that the forms focus moves to the first record and I need it to stay on the active record.
I have tried requery, recalc and refresh methods and they all do the same thing.
All I need to do is up date the calculated controls each time a field is updated and stay on the same form but it's eluding me.

On my data entry form I have a tab control with three pages
At the bottom of the first page I have a sub form with 3 fields
Currently, when tabbing, the focus runs through the fields as per the tab order
BUT
Once it gets to the subform (datasheet view) it jumps into the first field of the first record rather than the first 'empty cell' thereby starting a new record in the datasheet.
Once the three fields in the datasheet are completed the focus tabs back to the top of the first page of the form rather than onto the next page of the form

The Main form is called frm_Admissions
It has three pages called Patient, Treatment & Service Providers
Patient has a subform called sub_Cluster (which may or may not hold Cluster Information)
I would like the tab order to jump from the last textbox on the form into the first field of a new record in the datasheet (rather than the first field of any existing records)
Once it has finished in the datasheet I need to tab to the first field/textbox in the Treatment's page of the form rather than back to the first field/textbox in the Patient's page.
I have a main form "FrmTimesheetEdit" that I open in edit mode to review data in a query that uses two tables TblEmployee and TblTimeSheet. The TblEmployee has two fields called EmployeeID, and Employee. The Tbltimesheet table has a field "Weekendingdate" and "EmployeeID".Prior to loading the mainform I launch a form "frmEmployeeReportRange" that allows me to specify via combo box the Employee I am interested in and also the time periods I am interested in being "Beginningdate" and "EndingDate" These in turn are criteria for my query that supplies data to the main form "FrmTimesheetEdit" Everything seems to work ok.
However the first time I open the main form It open a form/window saying "Enter parameter Value" for EmployeeId, BeginningDate and Ending date respectively. Then the subform loads "frmEmployeeReportRange" which allows me to specify Employee plus beginning and ending dates. I select Employee from the combo box say "Emp1" and specify Beginning and Ending dates of 1-Jun-2013 and 30-Jun-2013. I then make the form invisible and the mainform opens up.I do this but get no records. If I close the main form "FrmTimesheetEdit" and reopen it the subform pops up as expected. It is preloaded with the data I entered the first time i.e. Emp1 plus 1-Jun-2013 and 30-Jun-13...If I leave the dates the same but select the next employee "Emp2" and them make the form invisible the mainform opens in edit mode as expected but with the records and dates specified for Emp1.
Bottom line it would appear that although the filter data is specified for the query that feeds the main form it is not requerying prior to opening the form. I have tried having the "frmEmployeeReportRange" launched as a VBA event on each of 'On Open' , 'On Load' and 'On Current' but no matter where I put it the results are the same in that the mainform is not requerying the data prior to opening.
I have a form (frmTimecardsDataEntry3*) that needs to requery combo boxes to narrow down the selections offered in the dropdown of each combo box.
It is a data entry form. I.e. Dataentry is set to yes.
The ClientName combo box has an after update event which requeries the matter combo box, so that the MatterName combo box dropdown only shows the matters relating to that client. This works just fine.
The MatterName combo box has an after update event which requeries the Rate combo box so that in the Rate combo box dropdown only the hourly charge rates relating to that matter are shown. That works too. So far so good.
I then tried adding another after update event to the MatterName combo box, so that another combo box, Application, was requeried too, so with the Private Sub it looked like:
Rate.Requery
Application.Requery
But this resulted in the error in the title to this post and the debugger highlighted in red the word Requery in the phrase Application.Requery.
I thought maybe Access does not allow two requeries resulting from one after update event, so instead I took Application.Requery out and placed it as an after update event in another combo box which did not have any other after update events to run.
However, this resulted in the same error.So the error appears to have something to do with trying to requery the Application combo box but I cannot see what is causing the error.
The Application combo box SQL is:

This is the same arrangement of SQL that I am using on the other requeried combo boxes that work. When I take the WHERE statement out of the Application SQL and run it the query returns all of the applications.
I am not sure what the error code is trying to tell me about the attempt to requery the Application combo box.
I have a yes/no box in the form and when the firm is first opened it has a small square dot in it, but as soon as any data is entered in the form the dot clears and leaves the usual empty tick box that you would expect to see.
Also, another possible symptom is that I had another version of this form previously working quite well except that when I did several data entries all at once, so I had several forms filled in with different data (before refreshing and thus entering the data in the table), when I scrolled between the forms I kept losing the MatterName data when I scrolled back, and then when I re-entered the ClientName data the correct MatterName data returned without me having to use the dropdown to select it.
I have had an earlier simpler version of this form working for some time, with ClientName requerying MatterName and MatterName requerying Rate, and I am using the same SQL structures in the new form but getting the error in the title to this post and the other isues just described.
I have a listbox with a record in it for every record that is entered on another form. To add a new record, you press the button Add New which I made. That takes you to another form, you can enter a new record and close that form.
I then want the listbox to requery and show the new record. I have tried requering the listbox on close of the other form, I have also tried doing it on the original form's Got Focus event. None of this works.

I have a form and one of the text fields I need to verify against data in a table. I think the best way is to check the field once it loses focus on that text field. If the data is not in the table then the user is prompt with a msg "Invalid data, Please try again". I'm using Access 2010 to develop. I need query to run the validation.

I have been reading a earlier post regarding requerying forms
Forms are displayed on other form by means of a SubFormControl. It is the name of the SubFormControl that is needed. This is often the same as the SubForm but it is *not* a requirement. In your case you will be using two SubFormControl names, one nested within the other. Just for the record, you Requery forms and not fields.
How do you find out the name of the SubFormControl. I am trying to refresh sub forms and I am trying to use the following code.

I have 2 forms, "frmMainClient" and a subform "frmjob" and I have a command button on the "frmJob" which brings up a pop up form " frmJobNew". I fill out the fields and save via a command button.
When I look at the "frmJob" the new record I have entered is not there. It is there if I close all the forms and then open them again.
I know I need to requery the forms but I am not too sure how this is done.

On a main form I have 2 sub forms. On the main form I have a command button that asks how many guests in a booking and depending on the response populates the subform with Guest Names. However it will only do this if I click on the subform and then click the command button.
I want to include some code that sits behind the command button on the main form that will duplicate the otherwise manual selecting of the sub form. And I am thinking this is a SetFocus procedure.
I have tried this code;

where Booking is the name of the form. I do not know whether the Subform is #1
i have a button that allows you to "edit" the show that is selected. You can double click the show name from the list box, and it opens that show in viewing mode, but you cant edit it. You can click the edit show button in the form that you view the show with, but I want to be able to edit that show from the main form with the list box. But, the problem im having, is if someone clicks the "Edit show" button without have a show selected, they get a error.

That is what I want, but I cant get access to open that show up if its selected.I need to be able to tell if it has focus on it, and to open that selected show up.
If i open a form with a sub form on can i open it so that the focus go directly to a control on a sub form.I have tried to do it with a macro on the on open event to go to control but it comes up that the control don't exists on the sub form.i am using access 2010.

I have a customer provide his or her SSN. If the SSN matches a record in a table the form opens specifically on that record (no problem). If the SSN doesn't match a record, the form adds a new record (again, no problem).
The issue I'm having is with the new record. The customer is able to scroll through other records (page up, page down), which is a no-no. I need the form to be locked on the new record. I've posted my code below.

i have a form with cascading combo boxes, all of which are set to requery the combo boxes below, however i have one which is Service SubType, and it should requery Provider and Subjective, however it only clears the Provider and the previously selected subjective is still there, when you click on the downarrow it does give you the new list of subjectives.

I have a continuous form with a combobox and a text box. In the after_update event of the combobox I want to setfocus on the text box - of the specific record that I'm on. I tried using Me.CurrentRecord but that returns me to a completely different record than the one I was on. How can I setfocus to the text box of the record I am on?

I have the visible property set to no on the subform allowing the user to toggle the visibility when the label is clicked. The problem though is when I click inside the subform to use the scroll bar to view records, it transfers the focus to the subform making it almost impossible to close by clicking the label again because the label is on the parent form. I found the "me.parent.setfocus" command and a few other set focus commands but I don't know what I should be applying the command to in order to make it work.
I have a form with a subform which is sized to show several records at the same time. If Record A has the focus, and I click anywhere in Record B, then Record B gets the focus, as expected. ... Except if I click on an Image field in Record B, when the focus stays on Record A.
How I can force it to set the focus to the other record ? I don't think this can be done with Events handlers, as they need to have the focus set first.

I have a toggle control on a form which depending on selection uses a loop and instr to make 'not visible' a set of controls on a subform.(forms! Mainform !subform.form)I get error 2165 but if I test immediatley before the make not visible process it returns the toggle frame as being the active control.

frmForm1 has frmAddress as a subform. The button cmdReviseAddress opens the form frmUpdateAddress where all of my validation work is done and the new record is added.
However, the new address is not being displayed in the subform.
If I use the command
Forms![frmTest]![frmAddress].Requery
it works fine.
The problem is that I want to be able to frmAddress on any form, and need to pass the name of the main form (in this case frmForm1) as a variable.
If lsTemp = "frmForm1", the statement
Forms![lsTemp]![frmAddress].Requery (and every variation using brackets and quotes that I can think of) fails.
Any ideas?
