Forms :: Show Image Based On Another Control Value?
Nov 5, 2014
I have a text box [txtTrafficValue] that is a calculated field of two short times. I want an image to be visible if the value is >= 0.0104 (15 minutes). I have in the after update of the field:
if me.txtTrafficValue >= 0.0104 Then
Me.imgWarning.visible = true
Else
Me.imgWarning.visible = false
End if
but when the field does the calculation and updates the image is not appearing.
I have a continuous subform which queries a table of attachments. I'm using Access 2007 but not using the Attachment datatype; this DB will grow considerably and I don't want to waste precious space by filling it with bulky files. So instead, I have code which makes a copy of the attachment and adds the hyperlink (to the copy) to the table instead.
Now - I want to add a control to the subform to display an icon / image reflecting the file type of the attachment (Word doc, Excel s/s, PDF etc.)
But not sure how to go about it.
I was thinking I could use FileSystemObject.GetFileExtension at the point in the code where the attachment is added, and add a new field to my attachments table (i.e. translate "*.xls*" to "Excel", etc.) Then store / embed a handful of images for the core types I would expect and use an image control on the subform to display the image based on the value of that field.
But is that even possible / feasible?
Or, is there a handy API which can retrieve the icon associated with a file type based on what has been installed on the local machine (even if there is, there's still the problem of setting up the image control to display the appropriate icon specific to each record...)
Or, is there another control available which would be better suited to something like this than an Image control?
I have continuous form in Access 2010 and I would like when user will click on record, the image, for instance, imgTest become visible for that record. But for other records the image not visible. How it to do?
I am trying to create a image based off a drop down result. I have had no problem with setting up a image based off a static number. e.g 0456432 in the student id field will bring up students photo in the network share.
What I am having an issue with is the control source will look for a number instead of the name that the drop box displays. this is due to a separate table for the drop box.
what is the expression i need to make in order for the name to appear from the dropbox rather than the source id number?
I have a question about combo box , i want when i click on combo box show picture , for example i create a form by 2 languages (English,French) each language have a specific flag , when i click on the combo box show English and beside English show USA flag with French Language and beside French show flag of French.
I have a form with mulitple buttons that run different reports, I've used the mousemove VBA script to show text about the report when the cursor is placed over one of the buttons that all works fine.
Can get it to display a image when the cursor is placed over a button.
It'd just be a screenshot of the report output so the user gets an idea of the layout before they run it.
I have an Image control on a form which I want to examine programatically. It seems there used to be a way of doing it using Point and PSet from info I have seen online. Is this contained in any of the libraries available under References in Access and if so which one...
One of the fields in my database stores a path of an image that I want to display on my form. I used the following code in the "On Current" event of my form to achieve this effect:
Private Sub Form_Current() If IsNull(Me.text1) Then Me.ImgPic.Picture = "C:UsersharrDesktopCupCake.jpg" Else Me.ImgPic.Picture = Me.text1 End If End Sub
It works great with the exception that the image doesn't update when the path is changed. If I update the path, I have to navigate to the next record and then back again in order to see the new image. I've tried a couple of things to try to requery the image after the text control is updated, but so far none have worked. This is my most recent attempt on the after update event of my text box:
Code: Private Sub text1_AfterUpdate() Me!ImgPic.Requery End Sub
How I can refresh the image after the text box control is updated?
Hi all , Can anyone tell me about how to embedd image in image control using imagelist. I added the 5 images in imagelist at design time and added the following code. image.picture=imagelist.listimages(1).picture but iam getting error.error no :2110,cannot open the file . thank u, Siva
I have a linked table in ms access and it has a column as details. in ms access when i click on this button i will go to another form. i want to assign a picture (for opening a form) to this column but i don't know how i have to do this. my form opens as a datasheet view.
in the attached form i can select multiple image but my next and back button does not work ,also i want the path to the file shown above.to copy the name from there and paste it in the table,to write remarks.
I want to show an subform where in I would like to display images,txt,xlsx that are stored in a directory as icons which when clciked would open the respective files.The info related to the images are stored in t_CustomerFiles.
Record ID, CustomerID, DestinationPath,EventFileName, 1, A, C:UsersTestDesktopCustFiles, CustA1.jpg 2, A, C:UsersTestDesktopCustFiles, CustA2.xlsx 3, B, C:UsersTestDesktopCustFiles, CustB1.txt 4, C, C:UsersTestDesktopCustFiles, CustC1.jpg 5, C, C:UsersTestDesktopCustFiles, CustC2.jpg.
I would like to show them on a continusous sub form .. I am using image control by setting its control source property but it does not seem to work..Do I need something else for the xlsx and txt files..
I am trying to show an image on a form based on a user choice from a drop down box. For example, the user needs to choose a priority for a task. If the user chooses "Immediate" I want an image of an exclamation point to show up to draw attention that this is important.
I have been looking some information on changing image based on form combo box selection on form.
I manage to do case by case but i need it in a simple code because their will be many employees just to avoid adding case by case code for each one.
Private Sub Emp_IDCombo_AfterUpdate() Select Case Emp_IDCombo.Value Case "AM-001" Imageholder.Picture = "C:UsersAMGDesktopam-001.jpg" Case "AM-002" Imageholder.Picture = "C:UsersAMGOne DocumentsHR & Admin DatabaseEmployee Picturesam-002.jpg" End Select
I have employees table where all images location is saved in text field and i have a combo box on form which is employee id.
Tables relationship Employees_table [PK] to Contracts_table [FK] via field name {emp_ID}
Fields Name Combo Box name on form Emp_IDCombo and row source is SELECT Employees_table.Emp_ID, Employees_table.EmployeeName, Employees_table.Emp_Pics FROM Employees_table;
Text field is located in employees_table called [Emp_Pic] for images location.
I'm working on a wine database (for ages now...). I'm currently struggling getting the following to work. I have a form in which one can select the name and vintage of a wine using a combo box, after which also a picture will be shown of that wine. I have the pictures as attachments in a table. One can then press a button to close this form and go to another form in which one can edit all the details of the selected wine. Problem: I can't get the picture to show.
I have a reasonably simple form with a combo box, a text box, a button and an attachment field in which a picture should show.
I made a query to select the id, name and vintage from the wine table. I couldn't select the attachment field for the pic in the wizard, so I added that myself in the Design View. The Query for the combo box now reads:
Code: SELECT Wijn.Id, Wijn.Naam, Wijn.Vintage, Wijn.Plaatje FROM Wijn ORDER BY Wijn.[Naam], Wijn.[Vintage]; (translation: Naam = name | Plaatje = picture)
It neatly shows name and vintage in the drop down list. Once selected it only shows the name of the wine in the combo box and I use VBA to fill the Text Box with the vintage of the selected wine. The VBA I use is:
Code: Private Sub cmbNaamWijn_Change() Me.txtVintage.Value = Me.cmbNaamWijn.Column(2) End Sub
All works fine. Also when I pres the button, the wine I selected opens up and can be editted and the select form nicely closes. The only problem is the fact that I cannot get the picture to show!
I inserted an attachment field with the name: attImage. In the VBA code I added the line:
Doesn't work. With debugging I do see it gets the correct value form the table. I get an error message stating "Method or data member not found", so Picture is not available for the attachment object I guess. If I look at what is available, I can't select anything useful. So my next try was adding an image control with the name: ImageWine and the VBA code in the On Change property
Code:
Me.ImageWine.Picture = Me.cmbNaamWijn.Column(3)
results in the following: Run-time error '2220'. Microsoft Access can't open the file '[FilenamePicture]'. Logical in a way I guess, since there's no path in there. I also tried the Bound Object Frame, but that resulted in the same problem as the attachment try described above.
I'm trying to use the Access 2010 web browser control to dynamically show a PDF.
The base file path is a constant (R:MS_ACCESS_PROJECTSSAFETYIMAGESMSDS SHEETS)
and the dynamic part is two fields from the selected record:
me.txtMsdsID & "." & me.txtVersion
what is the simplest way to "bind" this so that when a record changes it automatically refreshes this control? I've tried setting it with VBA, but it's not working consistently.
I know the issues isn't the file path, as it works fine if I paste it in windows explorer.
I have a form based on a query in datasheet view. What i would like is to show only those records that fulfill the truepart of iif statment, and do not show the ones that fulfill the false part.
I have the following fileds in the query
month currency 1 checkbox currency 2 checkbox sum
In the form, the control named month contains the following code:
control source: =IIf([checkbox1]=no;[month];0)
So this gives the appropriate months, but also shows the all other records with a 0 in the month field. I would like to get only the records shown that are correct with the truepart of the statement.
I have a set of cascading combo boxes. When a value is selected in Cat 1 ID, it narrows down the selections in Cat 2 ID which narrows down the selections in Cat 3 ID.
However, the values don't show up for columns Cat 2 ID or Cat 3 ID until I enter the row. Then I have it set to requery the fields because the underlying data isn't populated. But then when I leave the row, the values go away.
Why doesn't it show the underlying value from the table? Each column is bound to a field in a table - I would assume that the recorded value would show up. Did I miss something easy?
I have a form with a tabbed control on it. The tabbed control has 4 tabs that each have a report on them. When I select a company name on the main form, I requery these 4 reports to show data related to that company.
For some strange reason, 2 of my reports requery with no problem, and 2 of them give me a message that the report can't be found. Here is the code:
Code: Private Sub cboCompanyName_AfterUpdate() On Error GoTo cboCompanyName_AfterUpdate_Err ' DoCmd.SearchForRecord , "", acFirst, "[CompanyID] = " & str(Nz(Screen.ActiveControl, 0))
' After selecting a company, requery the subreports to display the appropriate data
As a side note, if I chose the company, say "ok" to the error, and then go run the queries that these reports are based on, I get the correct records. Also, if I chose the company and run the 2 failing reports standalone, they work fine, so I know the problem isn't the reports or the queries themselves.
I have also checked and rechecked for any spelling mistakes and have found none. I should mention that the error message is "Programs cannot find the field 'SubrptCompany_Payback' referred to in your expression".
I have a form that has an image name. The image is stored on a web server. The image can be accessed through a URL. The problem is how can I show the image on my form. When I try to change the picture property of my image control it tells me that it cannot use a web address. Any help would be greatly appriciated
I have a form with a subform. The subform is a continuous form with two controls, both textboxes. The value in the second box is looked up in a table, where the column name is the value from the first box.
I tried a lot already, this code seems to work but only for the first value of the continuous form and is not refreshed when I click next record on the parent form:
Code: Private Sub Form_Load() 'get the value from the first textbox strLabelName = Me.LabelName.Value 'get the ProductID needed for WHERE clause from parent form strProductID = Me.Parent.ProductID 'use dlookup strLabelValue = DLookup(strLabelName, "tblProducts", "[ProductID] = " & strProductID) 'place the returned value in the second textbox Me.Text5.Value = strLabelValue End Sub
Is it possible what I want and how may I establish this?
I have table that I had to add a new field to which we update with a form. I tried to add a control for the new field but the field does not show up in the list for the control source. I am trying to add a list box to the form with a blank and 5 options.
I have attached screen shots of the table design and the form. The table has the field in datasheet view and I have manually entered a few entries in it but it still will not show in the control source for the form control. The top section of the form is where we enter and select the data for the new records. The bottom section (circled in red) autofills the matching record, from separate tables, for updating with the new entries.
I have added form controls for modified fields in the past so I am confused about why this is happening.
I am going crazy!!. I want to use .jpg images in my Access Form (Access 2003). All the tutorials and forums talk about using Image Control to display .jpg images. But I can't find the Image Control on the toolBox??? Where is the Image Control?? I am currently useing Unbound Image Control but that only allows me to display .bmp images.
I am using Access 2010. I wish to show or hide controls based on the value in the combobox. The combobox is bound with the data type Yes/No. If Yes, controls should be visible and if no, they are to be invisible. The database is a linked one. This selection should update all the users' forms.
Just wondering if anyone could help me with my little problem :)
I am making a register (as in a class register of students) I have a table with the lessons on and one with students on. I have made a relationship between them etc.
I have a form where the parent allows you to choose which lesson you want to view, and the subform displays the students for that lesson. This all works fine.
My problem is that I also want a picture to be displayed for the student that is currently selected, I have managed to update the picture by using
Private Sub Form_Current() [student_picture].Picture = [student_image] End Sub
student_picture is the name of the image on the subform, the student_image is a row in my student database that contains the location of the image e.g. c:abc.jpg
and this works at updating the image that is show. The only problem is that the image is shown on all records/rows. Is there anyway of making it so that the image is only displayed on the current row?
