Forms :: Single List Box Option To Input Data To Text Box
May 9, 2013
I have a form with a list box on it that has 4 teams (Team1-4)..Below this list box I have a text box:"People on shift tonight"..I want to be able to select a team from the listbox and this prepopulate the people on shift box with the names of the colleagues from the team specified, is there a way to do this?
I have a simple data entry form with drop down facilities on 2 fields. One of these fields incorporates a drop down list from a table but there are occasions when I wish to make a free text entry for the single record, but do not wish to add it to the drop down list.
I have tried to achieve this with a Combo Box but without success, although I am sure that I have read that it is possible.
I have several combo boxes and textboxes showing quanity, productname, size, and price. How can I pass all of this info in a single row that also calculates the quanity and price. Also, multiple selections can be added, so several items can can added in other rows. THe ability to cancel each row would be required as well. Thanks
I have 5 tables that I would like to input data in. It can only be done with a single form. The fields I want to input in have the same names in all 5 tables, for example:
Table 1: Name Age DOB
Table 2: Name Age DOB
Table 3: Name Age DOB
Table 4: Name Age DOB
Table 5: Name Age DOB
Is it possible to input data into all of these fields in each table using one textbox for each field?
Preferably without having to use code but if it cannot be done without it then that would be fine.
I have several comboboxes in my database from which users select values. However, in most cases, I do want to give them the option to add an item that does not appear while simultaneously updating the underlying table which stores those dropdown values. I have made use of the builtin "allow edit list items" feature of Access 2007 but the form always opens on the first record of the form on which they are to add the new item. Is there a way to specify that it should open in Data Entry view apart from using VBA?
I just started my project database on my subject ITM4. My Database is entitled PCExpress Inventory System. I would like to know how to input (Text) in a Field where the Data Type is (Number) just like the North Wind.
I was checking if it is possible to add a text option after creating Look Up Tables, and I am also getting extra spaces while creating lookup tables where the drop down list goes more than 100 items.
I have created a member data base form in Access2010.
That has been populated with 366 member records
I have two text box fields that are currently free type fields, Member Type & Member Status.
What is the best way I can change these to show only the relevant options:
i.e. Member Type ( Full, Family, Pensioner, Life. ) Member status ( Current, Lapsed, Deceased)
I have tried to right click the field but the "change to" option is greyed out & not available.
I have also tried to insert a combo box or list box to show these options. The "use control wizard" option has been highlighted but when I drag either a combo box or list box into the form. the wizard does not activate.
I have inherited a database that is used to track equipment that comes in for repair. One of the fields in this database is a memo field that lists the parts that are replaced on a piece of equipment. It has been requested that I leave this field as it is. However, I would like to regulate the data that is entered into to some extent. I need to ensure that there is a comma between every part number listed (there is another group that wants data from this database and they want to be able to separate this field out into individual fields). Is there a way to have Access look at the data in a memo field, find all the periods or ampersands, and replace them with commas?
The other thought I had was to provide the person filling in the database with a multi-select list box that lists all the available part numbers for a given piece of equipment. That person could select as many as she wants and when she was done, the database would take those values, put a comma between each one, and paste them in the memo field. Is that possible? What I have tried isn't working. I tried to get it to loop through the selected items and put them in the memo field, but I just end up with the last value selected instead of all of the items selected.
I don't know what to try next, Either the person entering the data is going to be upset because she has to type every part number in a different field, or the people receiving the data are going to be upset because there isn't a comma between each number.
I have a data base with names, email IDs, phone numbers of 5 types(example quality, security, IT,finance etc) of person from ten different project teams. I created a basic form for the end user to enter values and created fields for each of the person's name, email ID etc based on the personal type( liek quality, IT, finance etc) on each team. The background table contains records of almost 200 people now.
All of these people will be trained for one task and some will be trained for multiple tasks. I know how to make the combo box allow multiple values/selections but, i cannot list out all 200 personal names in the combobox's rowsource/value list. Is it possible to combine all different name fields and list out all personal(of one team), so that the end user can just select multiple names for that team who have been trained and so on. i need to set the rowsource of the combobox to the values of all personal from one team so the team leader can just go select who has been trained and who has not.
I am building a form in access and I am trying to find a way where user input isn't possible in the associated textbox when "No" from on option box is selected.
I am trying to run a check that will make the user aware if the request they are adding via the form is likely to be a duplicate. If so I want the option to allow or reject the entry. Alternatively I have seen solutions that just notify on the form is something might be a duplicate, by highlighting a textbox red for example. There will be duplicates across these fields but there are many other options included on the form, as I said this is just an indicataion.
The table is called "MainAc"
The form is called "SDC Request Form"
The comparison fields are called: "First_name" - Text "Surname" - Text "Change_Number" - Number "Date_from" - Date "Date_to" - Date
Ive been trying the Dcount() function, IIF() function but no joy.I tried to putting the below in the before update event, but it didnt run at all, now Ive put it on the button click acion that duplicates records for me, however it just returns a non duplicate responce regardless.
Dim PreviousRecordID As Long PreviousRecordID = 0 PreviousRecordID = DLookup("first_name", "MainAc", "first_name<>" & First_Name & _ " AND surname=" & Surname & " AND change_number=" & Change_Number)
[code]...
This was a copy and modify from an example database but I dont entirely understand what each part does.
I am creating search boxes within that searches customer by lastname, phone number, address and suburb. Will I be able to use one search button for all of them or do they have to be individual buttons?
I have 5 textboxes and a multiline textbox in a form in my Access Database. I am going to type several keywords in those textboxes and I am going to type an article in the multiline textbox.
What I need to do is I want to calculate the keyword density in the article. I can do that if i know how to search the whole text in the article and count the specific word. And I want a function to count all the words in the article too.
I want numeric only input for a certain textbox. I can use a ISNUMERIC function to test this, but prefer to use the Keypress event. So far got the following:
Code:
Private Sub txt_Position_KeyPress(KeyAscii As Integer) Select Case KeyAscii Case 8 ' backspace Case Asc("1") To Asc("9") Case Asc("-") If InStr(1, Me.txt_Position.Text, "-") > 0 Or Me.txt_Position.SelStart > 0 Then
[code]...
It is working alright, except I want to avoid input that has multiple leading zeros, such as 00000 or -00000 (i.e. minus sign with mulitple leading zeros).
I have the need to display the return of my "Sum Query" to display in a text box.
I need the attached below value (40500) in the "SumofQuery" attachment, which updates every 5 minutes to display on the "StatusBoard" attachment text box.
I have been searching for a good 10 hours on how to do this and still cannot find it.
I'm trying to apply a custom input mask to a text box control. The text box must contain a 43 character string, broken into sections as follows :
AAAA-AAAAA-AAAAA-AAAAAA-AAAAAAAAA-AAAAAAAAAAA-AAA
(The format is quite strict and always comprises alphanumeric characters , hence I figured an input mask would, if nothing else, support the user to key the string accurately from its constituent parts...)
However, when I try to apply the input mask to the text box, I seem to run out of characters - I get as far as the below but the input mask wizard won't let me extend the mask to the final 8 characters
AAAA-AAAAA-AAAAA-AAAAAA-AAAAAAAAA-AAAAAAAAAAA-AAA
Are input masks restricted to 35 characters in length? And if so, how else could I make this, admittedly complex, text input more manageable for end users?
I an trying to create a data entry form (IndividualsEntryFm) to input data for fields such as (First Name),(Birthdate) etc., these to be saved to the (IndividualsTbl)
I also have another table (NamesTbl) which has family names etc. The two tables are linked by a (MainID) field. I want a combo box on the individualsEntryFm so that I can select the family name. Then I wish the empty fields for the IndividualsTbl to be available to enter data. When I press the save button I then want this data saved, together with the MainID from the combo box to the IndividualsTbl.
I have set the IndividualsTbl with a (PersonID) field as an auto number each individual therefore has a unique PersonID but may well share the MainID. I'm trying to link many people to the same address.
I want to be able to have two text boxes on my form that firstly concatenate the values inputted and then saves this string to a field.
It's a "new record" form that generates a new record in table "tblUsers".
txtB1 & txtB2 and the text boxes would represent First Name and Last Name.
But it can't be allowed to be saved as the acctual names. - Insead I'm looking for a way to take the first two or three letters of the name and concatenate these into one string of text and save that string to the field tblUsers.ConcatenatedName.
I.E.txtB1:"Carl" txtB2:"Chapelle"
would generate "CarCha" and save that from the form to the field ConcatenatedName in tblUsers.
Btw, the values form txtB1 and txtB2 (Carl & Chapelle) cant be saved anywhere either!
Found the answer myself;
create a txtB3
And set that source to Left([txtB1];3) & " " & Left([txtB2];3)
Is there a way to setup the format on fields to only allow text inputs, no numbers wanted. I know I can do this at the table level but is some cases numbers are ok. So I want to code it so I can control when numbers are ok and when there not.
I have a report that selects and shows records where a specified date field is within the range of 2 dates that the user enters.I created 2 unbound textboxes on the report with a Shortdate format and InputMask 0000-00-00;0;_.When user enter correct dates, then everything works fine: selection is properly done, the right records show up.But I have 2 problems:
1-the input mask is not working: the user can input anything! 2-the 2 unbound textboxes do not show the dates entered by the user.
It seems the value entered bu user does not go straight into the unbound textbox. How do I either intercept the value entered by the user directly into the unbound textbox or via a variable?
How can it be that from Design view I can go to data sheet view, but from form view there is no option for data sheet view? On form property sheet "allow data sheet view" is "yes".
Can you update a text box on a form based on input of a date control? Here is what I have. I have several date controls on my form, and I want to update a status textbox based on which of these date boxes is filled out, but I need the status to be filled into the table as well. Do I update the field on the table, and then requery the text box? Is there some other method for accomplishing this?
I have an Option Group I created (simple Yes-No) in a form that links to a Yes-No field in a table. I have the default set for this field to "Yes" in the form. The option button works when the form is first opened. If I cange the option to "No", that works. Here's the tricky part that is giving me eye twitches...
If I change the option back to "Yes", the radial button doesn't reflect the change...but it does change the table data! Why do the radial buttons stop changing? Even when I close the form and open it again, the data in the table is no longer reflected with the buttons in the form.
Not all the choices (numeric codes) for my form's option box are being saved to the associated table.
I am using the options choices in the option group to enter data into a table and do additional things - clicking one option is supposed put a code in the table and then take you another form, while clicking a different option will make a new option box visible so I can collect additional data.
My option group has three options, only the data from the second option, which makes a second option group visible, is being saved in the table. If someone clicks on the first or thrid option, which takes them to another form, the data from that option choice does not get saved to the table.
