Forms :: Table Inserted Into Form No Longer Expands After Db Is Split?
Aug 20, 2013
I have elected to have tables inserted into my forms. For example on the School Information form, I have the Employees table inserted at the bottom so that it will show the employees that are assigned to that school when it's pulled up.
Before I split my database into a BE/FE situation, I could expand the items in the tables to other related items, but now that option is gone.
Is there any way to get that back with a split database?
i want to insert a calculated value of a e.g field6 (field4 * field5) in forms into the database table. by using expression builders in my forms. i have made that feild and on click it shows the calculated value but on filling in the rest of the form and clicking on Insert button does not update this calculated field but iserts all other fields.
I've created several Split forms that have the data input fields in the form with the relevant query datasheet shown below. As you tab through the form fields, the various cells in the datasheet are highlighted and move across the data row (as one would expect!). I want to put a particular field / Column at the start of the datasheet so that it's always available for view, but it seeme that what ever I do the column ends up back at the very far end of the data row!
I've sussed out the "Freeze Fields" facility which will keep the first column visable whichever cell is highlighted across the data row.
The column I want as the first column currently sits at the far end of the data row. So far I have dragged the row to the first column position; I've arranged the Query driving the form so that the column is at the front of the row, both in design view and in datasheet view, but to no avail. Everything I do to put the column at the start of the row in the datasheet shown below the form ends up with it back at the far end of the row the next time I open the form.
I have made a form with a main form and two nested subforms. The main form and subforms display data to be edited - fields in which data can be added, but no new records need be added. I and two other users have used this form for about two months. Now when we go to enter data, we can still navigate the form but our changes to the fields in question are no longer saved.
The combobox in the frmResellerOrders works correctly until I include it in the Navigation form frmMainMenu. Once I include it the navigation form it no longer lets me select a value. I have read numerous articles about using the Forms!YourMainFormName.YourSubformContainerName.Form.YourControlName
However, none of these seem to mention when and where to use it. Do I put it in the query that the form is linked with or do I need to put it in my form somewhere? I have been trying to fix this off and on for over a week now. It is one of the last parts of my database that I need to get finished by Monday!
I have attached a copy of part of my database with some dummy data.
I have a number of forms that are bound to recordsets as follows:
Dim rs As New adodb.Recordset
sqlQuery = "Select * from myTable" rs.Open sqlQuery, sqlCNN, adOpenKeyset, adLockOptimistic Set Me.Recordset = rs Set rs = Nothing
In Access 2003, users could open these forms and filter on basically any field by using the right click-> Text Filters functionality.
In Access 2010, this functionality appears to work (users can apply the filter and the Toggle Filter button in the ribbon shows a filter is applied), but all of the records are still visible in the form.
Any work-around that does not involve redesigning the form to be non-recordset bound?
I have a main form with 3 sub forms. The main form is tied to a table called QUOTES_MASTER. The first sub form is tied to a table called QUOTE_ LINE_ ITEMS_DIRTGLUE. It calculates the subtotal when selecting items. The relationship is one-to-many linked on QUOTE_ID.
The second sub form adds up total of all line items and is not tied to a table. The third sub form adds ESTIMATED FREIGHT to the PRODUCT TOTAL and is not tied to a table. how to get the values from the line items form inserted into the QUOTE_LINE_ITEMS_DIRTGLUE table as they are added.
I also want to insert the total value from ESTIMATED DELIVERED into the LINE_TOTALS field in the table QUOTES_MASTER.I tried this code on the product total sub form but it doesn't do anything and there are no errors:
Private Sub PROD_SUB_AfterUpdate() DoCmd.RunSQL "UPDATE QUOTE_LINE_ITEMS_DIRTGLUE SET QUOTE_LINE_ITEMS_DIRTGLUE.SUBTOTAL = Me.PROD_SUB WHERE QUOTES_MASTER.QUOTE_ID = " & Me.QUOTE_ID
Hello I have another prob. I need to be able to take a new ID from the topics table and insert it into the messages table after a form has been posted. I haven't got a clue on how to do this.
Its for a message board where a new topic is inserted. Two tables need to have records inserted, the topics table and messages table. The Topic_ID from the topics table is an autonumber and needs to go into the TopicID field in the messages table. Here's my insert query:
I have the following tables, tblAudit and tblCriteria. The first records companies and period of audit, the second contains the criteria against which they will be audited. The audit period determines which criteria apply. Results are recorded in a third table, tblAuditResults.
My problem is when I try to add a new result by selecting a criteria via a combo box a new row is inserted in the criteria table as well as in the result table. Inserting a row in the criteria table is wrong.
I have a text box on my table form with the expression =([LINES]-[MISSED LINES])/[LINES] which gives me the results I want but I also want this total to go to the "On time %" column in my table.
I have a table that holds company information for the user - eg farm name, company name, manager, phone number and email address etc. Its simply used to provide headers for reports, so that the same generic database can be used on several farms. There is only one record in this table tblfarmdetails. The second table tblorder is for orders and receipts - I currently have code that allows the user to send an order request by email to the manager, and to also send notice of receipt of goods through to the manager. I would like the code to get the email address from the unrelated table. Can I reference this field in the vba?
Private Sub cmdemailorder_Click() Dim orderdate As String Dim stafford As String Dim item As String Dim itemamnt As String
I have a subform generated by a query, I then have a double click function to run a further query this works when I open the subform separatly, but if I open the form and then double click on the field in the subform this will give me a error!
When I right click a row on the data sheet side of a split form an select "New Record" I want the curser to go to the first field on the single record side. I've placed this in the OnCurrent but it did no good.
Code:
If Me.NewRecord Then Me!Descrfiption.SetFocus. End If
Any way to set the focus to the single form Side of a split form?
Basically I need to design form that looks very similar to either Split Form or Subform. I have attached a print screen of what I roughly need. The form is split into two parts. In the first/top part there are some List Box/Date fields that act as filters to the bottom form, so the bottom form displays only records that match values in red. The second part of the top form has some field that require input from user and then these records are added to the bottom form. I was trying to use both Split Form and Subform and none of it is working,I have attached an example of database and this form would be based on data from Query1.
Is it possible (haven't found a way yet) to have two "split subforms" on a parent form side-by-side? When I try the multiple rows portion of the split view I created as a subform doesn't appear?
Want to have a form when I have search/filter/select record for table 1 (on the left) and table 2 (on the right) with a means in between to create a relationship which has a few parameters.
Several years ago, my colleague and I built some databases (using Access 97, if it matters). We are both responsible for the maintenance of them.
Recently, the hard drive in my PC crashed, and the IT group replaced it. Now, when I open one of the databases, I cannot see all of the Forms, Tables, etc. Thinking the database had been corrupted, I asked my colleague to open it on his machine. Everything was there, and can be viewed from his PC.
All was well until my hard drive was replaced. Has anyone seen this before? Any help will be greatly appreciated.
I created a split form. My main form is just a form, based off of tblBlotter. The subform is based off a query, which is the based off the same tblBlotter. (Not sure if this is proper - maybe I just need the table?)
I have a link master and link child field set to ID. When I open the form "subBlotterHistory", it opens and shows as a new record only. I want it to show ALL records on the query subform and be able to scroll up, down and edit.
i have a split form in ms access that has the data source of a linked table in sql server. this form has some fields those are bound to the columns of a table. I want to have a button that would appear in front of each rows. do you know how i can do this?
in a continius form when i will create a button it will be appeared continiously. how can i do this for split form in ms access
In a current version of a MDB, clicking on a hyperlink in a table no longer connects to the internet (?!)
I know for certain that it used to, so I opened an older version of the MDB (from a backup file), clicking does connect... so somewhere along the way, I must have done "something" to the current file (and too much time has passed along the way to revert to the former...)
I have a lot of tables that need updating often, so I delete the old ones and re-import them then run the queries again. From time to time, I add / remove columns but in the case I removed columns that are NOT needed in the queries.
So, I ran the queries again and they run fine but it says "Enter Parameter Value" for a column that is no longer there. It's not in the SQL code either.
So where is it trying to get these columns from and how do I fix this?
I'm using a split form with the datasheet on the left.
When I use the 'Find' in the Navigation buttons at the bottom of the form, it refuse to find text in a particular text box.
The text box is a memo field and is enabled.
Example:
I have text in the memo field which is a title of an episode - "The Outcast."
When I start typing "the" it finds this text in the memo field. But when I type the entire title it the finds the text in another field. ie "out."
I've tried the 3 different Search setting in options. When I use the Find command from the ribbon it work ok as long as I select the text box to search in first.
