Forms :: Time Scale Formatting

Nov 22, 2014

I have form with a label and input textbox and a cmmdbutton.In that text box you can fill a number and that number is the scale in minutes.When i click on the cmmdbutton, a table or query shows up with the time and its scale.For example if i put in the form, the number 10 in the textbox and click on the button, A table must show up with the values 00:00, 00:10, 00:20 ,00:30,00:40,00:50,01:00, etc till 23:50.

I was thinking doing it with a loop....

Forms :: Date / Time Formatting

Apr 1, 2014

I have a time/date field. The format for the field is short time hh:mm I created a Private Sub for when the field is double clicked the time is populated.On Double Click:

Private Sub Time_of_Call__DblClick(Cancel As Integer)
Me.[Time of Call:] = Time()
End Sub

It works great. I double click the field and "poof" the time appears. My problem is when the time appears it is in hh:mm:ss..I need it to be in 24 hour/ military time.

Forms :: Calculated Fields - Formatting Box As Date / Time

Jan 13, 2014

In my form I have a calculated field that works out the time elapsed for a job, worked out as the QTY/RUN RATE which gives me the time in hours. However I couldn't format the box as a date/time, as it is a calculation and the times may go over 24 Hours which results in the date/time giving me something like 31/12/1899 16:00 for example.

I've got around this now and I've formatted the results as HH:NN:SS using a public function in a module, but the problem is this is now stored as a text field. I've tried setting this to a number field but the formatting doesn't carry over. I've tried setting a custom format in the table as HH:NN:SS but then all I get is just a bunch of 0's, no calculation results.

So how to format this as a number field properly?

Also for any extra information:

- I know you're not supposed to store calculated results, but this is slightly different, the calculated field is a standalone text box and the bound field is a formatted text box.
- The reason I have to store the calculated results is because my boss wants to eventually see a chart of the total hours of jobs each day, hence why I'm asking if this can be done as a number field.

General :: Formatting Time Conversion - Calculated Elapsed Time

Dec 3, 2013

Formatting issue regarding elapsed time calculated using DateDiff().

I understand that you can specify the output value for DateDiff(). In my case I have chosen "n" for minutes. Each result in my query shows the correct calculation in terms of minutes.

[PunchIn] = 11/23/2013 8:11:28 AM
[PunchOut] = 11/23/2013 5:43:30 PM

[ShiftLength] =DateDiff("n", [PunchIn],[PunchOut]) = 572 minutes.

Now when I try to format the result in terms of H:MM (be it in a form or a report) I get varied results. I'll illustrate an example below:

=Format(([ShiftLength]/60),"0") & "." & Format(([ShiftLength] Mod 60),"00") Returns 10.32 Not correct

=Format(([ShiftLength]60),"0") & "." & Format(([ShiftLength] Mod 60),"00") Returns 9.32 This is correct but I need my result to be in the form of a decimal such as my next example

=([ShiftLength]/60) Returns 9.53333333. Getting there but how do I have this result only show two decimal points 9.53?

Time Date Formatting For Calculating

May 15, 2006

Apologies if this has been asked before but I have a problem with being able to format a field to accept an hours and minutes value where the hours is likely to be greater than 23.

I have a form that is related to the number of hours that people spend in respite care. Entry and exit dates are provided in a standard way - date and time - and I have a calculating field that calculates the number of hours and minutes that a person spends at the respite centre based on the entries made in the entry and exit fields.

Because the calculating field is based on a module and I need to have the calculated amount included in the table, I have set up a VBA code to copy the result of the calculation into a controlled field elsewhere in the form.

However, I also need the form to do a simple calculation whereby hours spent away from the centre are subtracted from the total hours calculated by the module, so I need the copied value to be in a format where the calcualtion is able to be performed.

In a nutshell I guess I am looking for a time format for the field that will allow the recipt of a value greater than 23 hours.

Of course perhaps I need a more sophisticated VBA script to perform the calculation behind the scenes but I admit to not being particularly at ease with VBA scripting. If anybody has any suggestions about either a format or a suggestion for a VBA script, I would be very appreciative.

Thanks in advance,

Chris Montgomery

Tables :: Phone Statistics - Formatting Field To Show Duration Not Time

Apr 13, 2014

I am building a database to enter staff phone statistics. As an example my fields would be - Name, Date, Staffed time, Available time, Aux time and then calculated fields to show the percentage of time i.e %Aux, %Available etc.

My problem is the formatting of the times entered as they are duration not time. Say staffed time is entered as 08:00:00 for 8 hours and Aux time 03:57:21. The only format I can see to suit is date time but then Access takes these entries as 8am and 3:57am is there a way to change this to work as duration hh:mm:ss?

Large Scale Corruption!

Jul 12, 2005

Hi all, apologies for the long post but this is a long nightmare!

Using A2k on Win2k...Due to roll out a DB today, just made my final tweaks and decided to compact/backup as have done many times before. It's not a split DB but it is secure so I copied the mdw onto my desktop and accessed it using a special compact shortcut which points to the desktop copy DB not the one on the network. When I compacted though Access went about it's business for a while and then threw up the dreaded "Network connection may be Lost" error message (roughly translates as "your database is nicely corrupt now") which I have had in the past when I tried to compact on the network. I've never had this error before compacting locally but anyway I tried again and same error message. I tried opening some forms and stuff and sure enought the DB was corrupt. No probs I thought, I can just go back to the original and start the process again. I used the normal shorcut to open the original DB just to check everything was ok and the same error message appeared with same problems. Minor panic ensued and I thought i'd got the shortcuts mixed up or something... I hadn't, Both DB's were affected.

Next option. Create a new DB and import all the objects. I did that and re-set all the permissions and the "Network Connection Lost" message dissapeared but some really strange things were happening. Forms opened but the buttons on them would do nothing. Then the forms Close button didn't work and the database wouldn't close.

I forced my way out of the DB and re-started my machine. Couldn't even log in to windows. Now at another machine and can log in to windows but DB is still having same problems. My instict tells me that the problem is something to do with the workgroup file becuase how else could compacting a copy corrupt the original? The only common link is the mdw.

Should I re-create the mdw and then try opening/importing the DB objects again? Or is there any way I can un-secure the DB and then re-secure it later?

Any thoughts would be much appreciated.

Thanks, Tom

Pivotchart With Series On Different Scale Axes

Jan 18, 2007

Hello all. My client has decided they like the pivotchart format better than the regular chart format, especially for its dynamic quality ( it can expand and contract with form adjustments.

One chart I am having trouble replicating in pivotchart format is one that plots two data series. One series is made of columns representing large numbers, generally several hundred or thousand, and the other data series needs to be a line which usually ranges between 0-10.

Obviously they cannot be represented on a y-axis with the same scale. This is simple to handle in MS Chart.

Is there a way to make a pivotchart with a dual-scaled y-axis, and map a data series to each one?

Thanks in advance.

Chart Changing Scale Minimum.

Aug 23, 2007

Hi all,

I´ve had this problem for a while but it only just recently became very annoying.

I have a chart on a form displaying data over time. I´m using two comboboxes to select start date and end date. There are A LOT of data in the underlying query. However the problem does not seem to be related to that.

When I select the starting date to be before a certain date, the chart suddenly sets its own minimum to 0 so that the line in the chart becomes almost flat (since the data reaches from maybe 20 to mayb 25).

This has to be a common problem, but is there a good solution?

I´ve checked the data so there´s no problem there.

Thanks in advance!

Y Axis Scale On XY Scatter Chart

Jan 15, 2013

I've cannibalized a chart from another database, hooked it up to my new data source and solved most of my formatting problems except for one, the Y axis of the chart won't display the scale properly. The minimum is set at - 3 and maximum is set at +3, but when the report opens the scale reads from -0.003 to +0.003. I've tried all the number formats I can think of. Currently it is set to General. If I set it to a number with anything less than 3 decimal places it formats as 0 or 0.00.

General :: Auto Scale To Fit Runtime 2010

When we have update meetings we use the large screen TV to view the db but it only takes up one small corner of the screen and is near on impossible to read.

I would like to know if there is any way that the picture can be stretched to fit the screen that it is being displayed on? Or would I have to create a separate version for the large screen so that people can read?

Forms :: Getting All Of Conditional Formatting Rules To Run On Forms

Mar 26, 2013

I'm having an issue getting all of my conditional formatting rules to run on my forms. For some reason it is only running the rule in the top position. I'm running different versions of this rule. Changing the field or table as needed to highlight duplicates in different colors. As you can see on page two of the attached PDF the entry for 33K6-4-3176-1 should be highlighted (yellow) because it is a duplicate. It only works if I change the order of presidance of my rules but then that negates my other rule. I'm not sure what is causing the conflict here.

If the field is red then the "Auth" field is a duplicte within that form if the firld is yellow then the entry in the "Auth" field appears on both forms. Red should take precidance.

Nz(DCount("*","tblRndfrm","[Auth] = '" & [Auth] & "'"),0)>1
Nz(DCount("*","OvrDrw","[Auth] = '" & [Auth] & "'"),0)>1

Conditional Formatting On Continuous Forms

Nov 7, 2005

I have an accounting database with queues that list each requisition's important information (ID, vendor, dates, etc) plus the its status (not yet submitted, approved, ordered, delivered, filed, etc).

I'd like the font of the status field to change color depending on its value. I can't use the standard conditional formatting because there are more than 3 statuses.

I've tried an If/Then statement, but the form only looks at the status of the first record, then colors the font of the status fields for the consecutive records that same color no matter what their value. How do I get it to evaluate per record? As in, if the first record has a Submitted status, its font is blue, but the next record is Ordered so its font is red.

Here's my code, I used it in the OnOpen event for the form:
If req_process_status_rec_id = 2 Then
process_status.ForeColor = 13209
ElseIf req_process_status_rec_id = 1 Then
process_status.ForeColor = 8388608
ElseIf req_process_status_rec_id = 3 Then
process_status.ForeColor = 8388736
ElseIf req_process_status_rec_id = 4 Then
process_status.ForeColor = 16737843
ElseIf req_process_status_rec_id = 5 Then
process_status.ForeColor = 52479
ElseIf req_process_status_rec_id = 7 Then
process_status.ForeColor = 6723891
ElseIf req_process_status_rec_id = 8 Then
process_status.ForeColor = 16711935
End If

Thanks!
