Forms :: Underlying Query In Subform Creating Duplicate Records On Form

Jun 18, 2014

I have an "Returns" master form that contains two subforms. The subforms contain items that we are returning back into our inventory. The underlying queries in each subform show only those records where the "Return Date" is null. The query(s) works fine, except that if there are 3 items that need to be returned there are 3 records that show in the master Returns form. I tried the Totals option in the query but the I need that Return Date on the subform. I only want one Returns master form to show the 3 records (not 3 records of the same master form).

Forms :: Get Main Form To Accept Changes Made To Underlying Subform?

Sep 24, 2014

I'm trying to resolve a problem with a form displayed as follows

MainForm
-->SubForm1 embedded in main form
--->SubForm2 embedded in SubForm1

When I edit subform2, then return to the mainform and edit a field on the mainform, I get an error.

'The data has been changed. Another user edited this record.... Re-edit the record.'

My understanding to resolve this is to do a requery. So I added:

Me.Parent.Requery
Me.Parent.Parent.Requery

as part of the LostFocus event for subform2. However, I now get a Write Conflict error when returning to a field in the main form. I get a dialog box with the option to Copy to Clipboard or Drop Changes. I can select Drop Changes and it will let me edit the main form afterwards.

This is Access 2010 over SQL. how to get the main form to accept the changes made to the underlying subform?

Queries :: Insert Into Query - Duplicate Records In A Subform To New Form

I'm trying to duplicate the records in a subform to a new form but keep getting a too few parameters error.

Code:
strSql = "INSERT INTO [OrderDetailT] ( OrderID, ProductID, Quantity, DiscountPercentage ) " & _
"SELECT " & lngID & " As NewOrderID, ProductID, Quantity, DiscountPercentage " & _
"FROM [OrderDetailT] WHERE OrderNumber = " & Me.OrderNumber & ";"

The debug.print comes out as below:

INSERT INTO [OrderDetailT] ( OrderID, ProductID, Quantity, DiscountPercentage ) SELECT 49 As NewOrderID, ProductID, Quantity, DiscountPercentage FROM [OrderDetailT] WHERE OrderT!OrderNumber = 11;

Forms :: Update Form / Query Without Updating Underlying Tables To Query

Jul 23, 2015

I have a form which will be used as the basis to print a label.

It is bound to a query and when I open the form I pass over a 'where' condition to return 1 record. I then use the query to produce a report/label.

What I want to do is to update the form/query without updating the underlying tables to the query.

Forms :: Subform Creates Duplicate Records

Aug 29, 2013

I have a form that uses Table A as a record source and has a subform that uses Table B as a record source. There is a one to many relationship between Table A (one) and Table B (many). The user opens the form to a set record, then uses the subform to create a new record in Table B.

This works perfectly and I can do everything I want. But sometimes the subform creates a blank entry in Table B before I enter any data. Then, once I start entering data, it creates another record in which it stores the data that I am entering. The result is two records: One that only has the date of the record's creation (I set that to be automatic upon creating a new record) and the primary key that links Table B to Table A. A second one is the "true" record, the one which stores all of the data that I am entering.

It won't happen for 10 records or something and there is no apparent pattern. In case it makes a difference, the form is set to open as the subform as the focus.

Forms :: Creating New Records On A Form With A Query As Record Source

Mar 29, 2014

In my database I have a form who's record source is a query. That query is based on a table, and have set a criteria on one of the fields.

When I use the form to add a new record I want the value of the field in question to automatically be what I have specified in the query.

Instead, the record is added but without having that value in the field, and when I go back to the form it doesn't display the record because it doesn't meet the criteria specified in the query that the form is based on.

Forms :: Duplicate Button For Form / Subform

Sep 7, 2013

My programming abilities are mediocre, but not novice.I have a pretty large scale management system to build (more than 40 tables, lots of relationships, forms, etc). One of the structures in the database is the following:

+ Main table
++ Secondary table connected to Main table via FK1.
+++Tertiary table connected to Secondary table via FK2.

The above when making the user interface is expressed as a form (Main Table), a subform (Secondary table) and a subform within the subform (Tertiary table).

I need to create a button that duplicates the contents of the main table, the secondary table and the tertiary table. I have already been able to create a button that duplicates the contents of the main table and the secondary table by using Allen Browne's code found online.how do I move forward to embedding in that method the ability to duplicate the contents of the Tertiary Table?

Creating And Assigning New ID To Duplicate Records

Mar 8, 2012

There is currently a database which contains location information on a variety of different samples, each which is identified by a unique sample number (the primary key). However, when these samples are processed, they are split it half and each is assigned a second identifier for each half (in this case, an A or a B). Therefore, if originally there was sample 1, it will be split into 1A and 1B. My task is essentially to create a second database with further information for each sample half (1A or 1B), while maintaining a link to the main sample database to reflect any changes to the sample location information. So far I have been using a make table query that pulls from the linked table which links back to the main database and combines with another table that simply has one column called "Piece" which has an 'A' in the first row and a 'B' in the second row.

I am quite new to using access, but I have found this task fairly frustrating so far because it feels like I am trying to force access to work in ways that it was not designed. Essentially I would like access to create a duplicate entry for each sample in the original database, and force in an 'A' or a 'B', and combine these fields to create a unique identifier. However, I am running into a lot of issue when trying to append data from the original database etc.

Creating Multiple/duplicate Records For Output

Mar 13, 2007

Hi

I am writing mini database which will produce labels for boxes. I want to be able to produce a sheet of labels based on the 'number of labels' to print field. I can output one label or many on the page/s depending on how I structure the query and how many records are in the query.

My Question:
I need is a query which takes an individual record and duplicates it by the integer in the 'Number of Labels' field

any ideas?

thanks

Forms :: Embedding Image In Form Not Linked To Underlying Data

Jun 28, 2013

I have a form that I call the AdminForm. It allows the user to store administrative information about the business; business name, address, telephone number, etc. I also have as a part of the table that stores this information an Attachment Field where an image of their logo is stored in a field called, [Logo]. No problem here. The issue is that I want to use the [Logo] field elsewhere like in reports.

I've added an Attachment type control to the report and I've used DLookUp to use the image stored in the admin table, but it doesn't display on the report. There isn't any relationship between the admin table and any report so I can't join them unless I do something "unnatural" by adding a fictitious field to every record to tie it back to the key field in the admin table, (there is never more than one record in the admin table; I ensure that). That doesn't seem like the right way to accomplish this.

Queries :: Mass Duplicate Main Records And Related Subform Records

May 29, 2014

In my simple database (attached), I need to mass duplicate Tasks and their Notes.

I have three tables: tbTasks (PK: Task_ID), tbNotes (PK: Note_ID), jtbTaskNotes (FKs: Task_ID and Note_ID). jtbTaskNotes is my many-to-many junction table that ties Tasks to Notes.

The main form (fmTasks), bound to tbTasks, has a subform (sbfm_TaskNotes) that displays notes associated with each Task. On themain form, you select which Tasks you want duplicated via a checkbox. The append query (quCopyTasks) will duplicate all tasks that have the checkbox checked. All good there. However, I can't figure out how to also duplicate each task's Notes.

I found Allen Browne's solution [URL] ....., but that only handles duplication of one record at a time, whereas I need to duplicate many records at a time (sometimes 10+ records). How do I go about duplicating multiple Tasks and their associated Notes?

Before you ask "why are you duplicating records?": There are times when tasks need to be re-accomplished and therefore need to have a new record. It's easier to duplicate records than it is to hand-jam everything again.

Forms :: Creating Record From Subform - Use One Of Values In Main Form

Apr 5, 2013

I'm trying to create a record for a table that has 2 attributes:

ContainsTracks
+album
+tracks

I have my main form, where the album is determined by a TextBox. My subform has a textbox that lists the tracks (in datasheet view). I have this set up and working fine.At the moment if I try to add a new record by typing a new entry into the subform I get the error: "Index or primary key can not contain a null value". This is because both album and tracks make the composite primary key of ContainsTracks.

My question is, how can I tell the subform to grab the value from TextBox1 in the main form as the +album when I create a new record.I have provided two screenshot that perhaps explain my predicament a bit better

Forms :: How To Avoid Creating Extra Empty Records In Input Form

Sep 18, 2014

I always have a problem with input forms in Access in that I usually end up with an empty excess record which is being created because I do not know how to program this correctly.

I have a Purchase Order Receipt form (frmPurchase). When I receive a certain quantity of an article associated with a lot number (or a serial number) I have another input form opening up (frmLotorSerial), passing to it through Openargs, the article and the quantity received.

Say we receive 10 units of which we want to register the serial number, I want the user to be able to enter a maximum of 10 units (could be 10 records if each record = 1 serial number, but it could be less than 10 if we have several units per lot number), and not one more, into this frmLotorSerial.

The record looks like this:
-key
-artno (article)
-recqty (quantity received)
-date
-warehouse
-lot number

I used the lost_focus event on lot number to check whether the total received quantity in this form matches the total passed to it from the Purchase form, and if it does to stop the input. Since I could not close the window in the code of this event (error 2585) I moved the close command to the current event of the form.

Doing this closes the form all right, but it always creates one record extra, which of course does not carry any information, apart from the date which has a default value of now.

How should I program/what events should I use to:
-test that the user should not go any further (total received in frmLotorSerial = total received in frmPurchase)
-close the window and, above all, not create this extra record.

Reports :: Multiple Duplicate Records In Subform

Mar 9, 2015

I currently have a report which contains a subform. The master/child fields used to link them are called 'StudentID'.

In the table on which the subform is based, it is possible for multiple records to be associated with a single StudentID: in this case, the subform shows the locations where a student is studying, therefore if a student is based in three different locations the subform will display all three.

This seems to be resulting, when I run the master report, in three identical iterations of the same report being displayed (at least this is the only reason i can see why these duplicates would be displayed; it doesn't happen if a student only has one record in the subform).

Clearly, as a single instance of the report shows all three records in the subform anyway, I don't want to be seeing these duplicates.

Forms :: Creating Duplicate Record With Specific Fields Blank

Jul 21, 2014

I'm working on a form with almost a hundred various fields (it's what my employer needs). He wants to be able to create new records with much of the same information as the old ones by clicking on a button that will copy the information to a new record, then clear certain specific fields (or some process that will safely create the same result). I don't need specifics on how to write the same line of code for each and every field I wish to clear.

Say I have a form with 5 fields: part_number, part_owner, procedure, file_name, and date.

How could I copy the record to keep the fields part_owner and procedure the same, but clear part_number, file_name, and date?

All of the fields are from the same table (no, it's not normalized...).

Modules & VBA :: Unable To Create Duplicate Records On A Subform?

Nov 20, 2013

I am working with a sub-form where once a staff member enters there sub measure I would want to create a duplicate of that record. The problem I am having is that once you enter the sub-form and click the duplicate button it creates a duplicate of the record selected but overwrites the first record in the table. I want it to create a new SubMeasure Number which is the primary key and assigns the record the next available number.

Also if I try to add another record after one has been added I get runtime error "3021" - No current record. I would have to close the form and reopen for it to be able to add again.

I have attached the code below:

Private Sub cmdDuplicate_Click()Dim dbs As DAO.Database, Rst As DAO.Recordset
Dim F As Form
'Return Database variable pointing to current database

Set Rst = Me.RecordsetClone

Queries :: Creating Query Without Repeating Duplicate Relationships

Feb 13, 2014

I have two tables that look like this:

Table 1

LOCATION NUMBER , SIZE
1.12 ,100
1.13 ,100
1.14, 12
1.15, 12
1.16 ,150
1.17 ,150
1.18 ,100

Table 2

ITEM , SIZE
A , 12
B , 12
C ,100
D ,12
E ,100
F ,100
G , 150

I would like to do a query that Joins the "Size" in each table, and then matches an "Item" to a "Location". However, because of how a normal join works, I cannot seem to figure out how to limit the "Location" field from producing duplicates in the match.

I only want to have 1 location for every 1 Item.

To make matters worse, these also appear when i then select another worker (and if i create another worker, the number of lines goes up by one for all of them). Subform - Datasheet Creating/updating Records

Jul 6, 2007

I was wondering if what I'm trying to do in Access XP and 2003 is possible. I've looked at countless templates and samples and havn't seen anything like what I want to do to be able to construct it. I've tried manipulating queries, relationships different table joins but to no avail. I'm only a beginner in VBA and know little SQL, I would be truly gratefull if someone can please shed some light on the below.

I've been creating a preventitive fleet maintenance database in access and want to make some changes that will make the database more flexible.

What I have is a main form which has the following main fields from the tblWorkOrder; WorkOrderID, FleetID, StartDate, FinishDate, Odometer, and ServiceTypeID.

Within this I have a subform in datasheet view (tblServiceItems, fields; ServiceItemID, ServiceDescription, ServiceCompleted(checkbox)) and this lists all the service items that belong to the ServiceTypeID in the main form.

I have another table called tblServiceDetails and this has the fields WorkOrderID, ServiceItemID which join the above two tables.

My problem is that I can't get the subform to list all the records that are in the table tblServiceItems, it only shows each record if you go through and select it manually. What I want it to do is to show like a listbox and allow me to go through the list and check of those service items once they have been completed. On top of this I want all those service items for that service type to be recorded against that workorder (regardless of completed or not) so then when I create a report on a WorkOrder It will list all the service items showing the checkbox's of which services have been done.

I've tried to do this with a listbox, but It doesn't show the checkbox, only yes or no. I've also tried using the tblServiceItems as the subform but this only updated the table and didn't create a record in the table tblServiceDetails matching it with the workorder.

Any idea's please...

Forms :: Subform To Show All Records From A Query

Mar 10, 2014

I have three main tables:-

1, Products
2, Inventory
3,Purchase.

By using a query I have been able to sort the data entered so that all I have left is a list of products that are below their reorder level and the number that needs to be ordered, great so far, this is what I want, but when I try to create a purchase order form as a form/sub form and put in the query I created, there are no products listed, it seems as if I cannot associate the two together, as soon as I link the query for the sub form with the purchase order form.

What I would like to happen is that when I open the purchase order form I can enter the purchase forms details and have all the products that need to be ordered visible in the sub form, the only way that I can get this to half work is to delete the link master and link child fields. If this is the way to go how do I link these products to the purchase order?
