I downloaded a time clock template the other day and Ive been tweaking it for a while now. There is one thing I can't figure out:
There is a form called frmClockOut, which is a subform on frmClockIn.
This subform appears after the ClockIn button is clicked. The problem is, if I close the database for any reason, and leave someone clocked in, the ClockOut button does not appear until after you re-click ClockIn.
The developer has put in a safety so that it does not "double-punch" someone in or out so its ok there. Id just rather keep this subform open or always showing and cannot figure out where its done on here.
I have tab control form with (5) tabs. For this discussion - Tabs 1 through 5. For a blank (new) form sheet tabs 4 & 5 need to be hidden. Based on what is selected via the drop down box (on tab 1) then tabs 4 & 5 may remain hidden or needed to be un-hidden. Example: [DropDown1]
I think one I figure this out then I can use the 'OnCurrent' event to check the drop down selection as a user selects the a record or scrolls through records.
In what I believe is called the Navigation Bar - the bar at the left of the Access screen, one can see the various tables, queries, forms and modules associated with a project. As an experiment, I right-clicked on a form, and clicked the option "Hide in this Group". Now it doesn't show up in the group. But I can't figure how to get it back. I assumed there was some sort of unhide command like in Excel. If there is such a command in Access I can't find it. How do I make it so I can once again select this form so I can open it in design mode. (I assume that the form still exists in the project, because I didn't delete it).
I want to be able to open a form and unhide some fields on that form that have been set to hidden, basically if the file paths are wrong it ponts them back to my form where they fill them in , normally these are hidden
Code: 'checks to see if the file paths in the admin screen are ok before allowing to go foward to avoid errors from dowloading data 'get the file path to import data Dim ImportLoc As String ImportLoc = DMax("[Path]", "TblsysTransImport") 'Gets the file path to export data Dim ExportLoc As String ExportLoc = DMax("[Path]", "TblsysTransExport")
' checks to see if the file path is valid to stop people going further if incorrect or first time use If Dir(ImportLoc, vbDirectory) = "" Or Dir(ExportLoc, vbDirectory) = "" Then MsgBox "sorry but your Import / Export locations dont exsist " & vbNewLine & "These are required so you can download your scan data. " & vbNewLine & "You will now be redirected to enter valid paths"
'open form where they update the paths DoCmd.OpenForm "Frmadmin", acNormal 'normally hidden Frmadmin!Line111.Visible = True
I am about to start creating a db where the client wants me to afterwards make a template which at the click of a button in a form they will be able to select that file and it will directly import it into the correct fields i set it to.
One of the managers has requested to set up a form to enter the date at the top of the form and then enter in data for all the plants below for that day. I thought I could just use a form/subform combo with the date (and any other information repeated to all the plants), but the catch is, he wants a list of the plants to automatically populate when he enters a date.
The table would look something like this:
Form
Date
---------------------------------------
Subform (with all Plant names pre-filled for this date -- same list each time--and allowing him to fill in Sales and On Time Delivery).
Plant___________Sales_________On Time Delivery Indianapolis Detroit Memphis Tampa
Thanks to some of the threads here, I have managed to automate inputting form data from a record into bookmarks in a word document template (a letter). What I am trying to do is to lock the letter allowing modification only to the form fields in that template. If the original template is locked (allowing entry only in the fields), the data does not flow through. So I was trying to accomplish this through the "ProtectedForForms" property. However, it does not work. The letter gets locked before the information flows through. Here's the code I am trying to use (borrowed from one of the users here):
Private Sub cmd_letWarn_Click()
' Check for empty fields and unsaved record. If IsNull(occupant) Then MsgBox "Occupant Name cannot be empty" Me.occupant.SetFocus Exit Sub End If
If IsNull(propad_no) Then MsgBox "Building Number cannot be empty" Me.propad_no.SetFocus Exit Sub End If
If IsNull(prop_ZIP) Then MsgBox "ZIP Code cannot be empty" Me.prop_ZIP.SetFocus Exit Sub End If
If Me.Dirty Then If MsgBox("Record has not been saved. " & Chr(13) & _ "Do you want to save it?", vbInformation + vbOKCancel) = vbOK Then DoCmd.RunCommand acCmdSaveRecord Else Exit Sub End If End If
' Create a Word document from template. Dim WordApp As Word.Application Dim strTemplateLocation As String
' Specify location of template strTemplateLocation = "T:PlanningPlanningEnforcementLogsuppfiles emp warn.dot"
On Error Resume Next Set WordApp = GetObject(, "Word.Application") If Err.Number <> 0 Then Set WordApp = CreateObject("Word.Application") End If On Error GoTo ErrHandler
I am trying to add the name of the employee show up in on the opening form after logging into the database. I am able to get the user right (Admin only), but not the name. In the Default Value in Properties, I have it set to =CurrentUser() and I have the Employee field in the Control Source to record current user.
How can I make this so it indicate the user logged in?
Once I enter records in my form and move to a new record, they won't show up in the form. For some reason there are a few records showing in the form but not all. Unsure what has happened or what I need to do to get the records showing.
If I open a the form called frmhome, I can enter information search on hours completed and even enter new towns. The table that the information gets entered into is called Crisis_support_workers. If you open this table, you will see a lot of information that has been entered. However, if you open the form that is meant to put info into that table, there is only 7 records and most of them are blank records. The form where info is entered is called Crisis_support_workers v3.
I created a split form. My main form is just a form, based off of tblBlotter. The subform is based off a query, which is the based off the same tblBlotter. (Not sure if this is proper - maybe I just need the table?)
I have a link master and link child field set to ID. When I open the form "subBlotterHistory", it opens and shows as a new record only. I want it to show ALL records on the query subform and be able to scroll up, down and edit.
I enclose a part of my project. I've taken out the table, query and so on.Only the form. What i want to do is to view only the form when entering the app. But if you open the file you could see a flash of the app before minimizing it. Very few, but you can see it. I've deleted some more code in the opening form that made the flashing a little bit longer. My code for entering is the following:
Code:
Private Sub Form_Open(Cancel As Integer) DoCmd.RunCommand acCmdAppMinimize Call fSetAccessWindow(0) End sub
And then in another module:
Code: Option Compare Database Option Explicit Global Const SW_HIDE = 0 Global Const SW_SHOWNORMAL = 1 Global Const SW_SHOWMINIMIZED = 2 Global Const SW_SHOWMAXIMIZED = 3
I have a form and a text box. I wanna when open this form in the text box my pc processor id will show. I know i have to use form load event but i have not skill in vb.
I want a form which allows data entry into a main table but also displays a list of records filtered from the same table. There is also an additional, calculated field displayed with the list.
The filter criteria are a date and a name, a list of which are in a separate table. They are separate fields for first and last name but i would like to filter with both and display them concatenated in the list.
I have form that is tied to a query. When I enter criteria that matches what i have in the table, it returns the infromation on another form fine.
However, if there is no data for the criteria I am entering, I get a blank form. Is there anyway to have the fields of the form show even when there is no data?
In the initial Form_Open code there is a string that fails before the form is open, preventing me from opening the form and accessing the VBA code to correct the problem. How can I access the VBA code to correct the problem if it otherwise prevents me from opening the form so I can access the VBA code?
I am creating a db for my work place that records incidents that take place. I am a novice at Access but I have made different tables, queries, forms and reports and they all work.
I was wondering if there was a way to extract data that a user enters into a form and then use that to populate a word template *without* coding using VBA? I am really a beginner and not confident with VBA at all. I have read the forum and that seems to be an option (but would rather something else if possible!)
On a form I have a listbox that allows me to navigate around my records. The listbox is filtered and I get the redords that I waqnt from the table. My problem is that when I open the form the record that is showing is one from the table but not one that is in my listbox. I want it to show the first record in the listbox...This is the command I have on open:
Code: DoCmd.GoToRecord , "", acFirst
which is where the fault lies, but I dont know what I should put in its place. The list is List273 and the form is frm_Profile
I work at a small mental health clinic and am trying to accomplish the following.
What I have:I have one table that lists all of the patients, their phone number, address, etc.
In another table, it lists the medications that each patient takes, as well as the strength, dosage, etc.
The two tables have a relationship via the "Patient ID" column in each table.
Most patients have multiple entries in the second table, as most patients take multiple medications.
What I am attempting to accomplish:The main form in my database simply lists all the patients names in datasheet view. I want to be able to click a Patient's name, then go to a form that lists all of that patients medications. I've attached a screenshot that encapsulates precisely what I am looking to accomplish.
Since most patients take multiple medications, I need to be able to list multiple records in a single form, grouped by medication name, just like in the attached image.
I am uncertain as to how to accomplish this. I've tried using subforms but it doesn't list the data at all? Also, it looks like an Access report can create precisely what I need, but I need to have a live form that I can use to update data real-time.
I have a form with a query as rowsource. When I open the form in data sheet view form header is not showing(Though it is visible in form view). Is it possible to show the form header in datasheet view?
I'm building a simple access database to be used in a factory. It's pretty much there now, in the sense that it does all it needs to do, but some things feel a little "clunky". One of these things is the page where new products are created.
When a product is created the user has to specify what raw materials it's made up of and that works great, there is a continuous sub form that lets the user just add a row for every raw material. Having it as a continuous form makes sense as there can be lots of rows or just a few, so it's flexible.
Currently though the labour/time on that page works in the same way. But it feels a bit silly as there are only 3 sorts of labour (at least currently, they might add a couple more later). The labour types are..
- Build - Finishing - Handling
My question is, how would I go about turning the existing continuous row-by-row subform for labour into a single form that just listed those three types of labour (read from my labour type table)? So that it just shows a row that asks for quantity of each available labour type.
Not all products have all types of labour but it would be fine to write a 0 in the labour table for (for example) Finishing against a product that for example didn't need Finishing Labour. Obviously with the current continuous form approach no row would be written for Finishing if the user didn't select that.
I guess I could hardcode a single form to show the three current types, but ideally it would be flexible, coping with new labour types when the users find they need to add them.
Very suddenly today, when I'd done seemingly nothing, all of the records from my form that I'd built from a blank form disappeared, with the exception of the first record. When I try to just close everything down, nothing changes. When I put in a new record to the form, however, it's saved in the table. But when I save and close, the form goes back to only having the first record! This is very annoying, for easily perceivable reasons. I even tried creating the form from scratch, to see if it's some residual SQL update code acting funny, and nothing changed! It seems to work if I select a table and just create a form, though. It doesn't even work when it's a splitform and whatnot.
See my 2 attachments. I put the Pop-Up property on the form. that worked but still not what I want.
On the HATT attachment do you see how it opens in the middle of the screen? And the other opens at the top right, (and has that tab at the top right that says frmMain)?
how do i made the airwatch open in the middle? like the other screenshot?
