Forms :: Update Combo Box In Macro Environment

I copied Students application in Access 2007 and modified it to fit needs of a school for students with disabilities. I know absolutely nothing about macros, so where needed I substituted VBA. It is now a mix of macros and VBA. But now I cannot post values from a combo drop-down list on the second tab. I get a "boink" sound when I try to post the selection. I have adjusted the properties of each combo field to match where it was successful before and tried again. No results.

The fields are located on the second tab which lists contacts for the student. The proper values show up in the drop-down list. It is just that the value chosen will not populate the field.

I have used combo boxes extensively before, but never in a macro environment.

Using SetValue Macro In Runtime Environment

Hello all,

I am currently using the SetValue function from within a macro to set the value of one text box to the value of another. It works fine under full version but when I use it under Runtime which is where the final application will be run from, it brings up the Halt box and will not continue the macro.
Does anyone know what can/cannot be done within Runtime. Is it just the same as A full version but without Design functions or are some other functions removed. I am painstakingly having to go through all the vba code that I wrote in full version and I am having to change so many things in order for it to work with Runtime. This is a real pain the backside!
Any thoughts would be huuuugely appreciated.

I have a form that has a Combo box record selector which works fine. I need to add more to the Where condition of this macro.

Combo1 - Options 1-Facility, 2-Physician (referral_type)

Combo2 - Record selector that works, either shows a list of facilities or list of physicians.
Macro SearchForRecord - Where Condition ="[fac_id] = " & Str(Nz([Screen].[ActiveControl].[Column](0),0))

Would like it to be

="[fac_id] = " & Str(Nz([Screen].[ActiveControl].[Column](0),0)) AND [referral_type] = Me!Combo2

Have tried a few different things with no luck.

I have a problem in multi user enviroment, with finding and locking a record in database.When one user finds, blocks and edit record ... another user in the same time can find the same record and overwrite it (User and Status values). It is just like he didn't see the changes making by another user.Each user have a copy of the front-end, back-end is on the shared disk.Here is the code to find new record:

I am developing a small database for use in a multi-user environment: I have split the tables off and am testing with two copies of the front-end on different machines. All seems to work well except on one form.

On this form, the value of a bound control (exposed as a number of radio buttons) is used to make related controls on the form visible or invisible. I use the AfterUpdate event to trigger appropriate VBA code to accomplish this; it works well.

However if two users have the same form open at the same record (unlikely, but not impossible), and User A changes the value of the control via the radio buttons, Access will eventually propagate the change to User B's copy of the form but the AfterUpdate event will not be triggered and the form becomes inconsistent. I understand that events are only triggered when a user makes a change to a control; how can I be alerted when Access makes a change?

My question is, can I program something to where Access will update the record, after the 3rd required field, so that other users are not having to wait to enter there new record?

Forms :: Changing Environment Field Automatically In Report?

I have an Access database (.accdb) that has table, form and report. The field in all are the same. The user interacts with the Form only and enters data to it. Table is a back-end thing and no-one goes to it. However, in Form there is a button that when pressed, prints the report for that relevant form/record which we then give to customers.

Now, I have a field in report (like a signature field) that mentions the name of the user who printed that report. Lets say, Mr X did the data entry and then printed the report and gave it to the customer. After that customer loses the report and comes back for a copy of the report, but now Mr Y is at the desk and issues the report. Obviously Mr Y doesn't have to do the data entry again because record is there and Mr Y has the access to it, so he just presses the print report button and prints the report. What I would like is that the signature field should update itself if anyone else (in this case Mr Y) accesses the database and prints the report for that specific record.

I have another table named manifestdetails and a column labeled shipstatus

I would like to create a form where the user can use the combobox selections from the table shipstatus and update the column shipstatus from the manifestdetails table.

I've got an Access 2010 database based on the Tasks template. I've added a column to the Tasks table called "CompletedDate" I'd like for the Status combo box on the Task Details form to update the Completed Date for that record.

i.e. so when the Status is set to completed, it auto completes the Completed Date with the current date.

I've tried using an OnChange and an afterUpdate statement on the Status box but I don't seem to be getting anywhere.

I can't work out how to update the selections available in a combo box as follows: I use a combo box in a main form to select a record (yacht) If it's a new yacht then I use an event linked to a button to call another form to add the new Yacht On exiting the Yacht Maintenance form I return to the main form The combo box in the main form doesn't list the yacht i just added unless I exit and re-load the form

I'm not sure of the best way to refresh the combo box selections or main form without exiting.

I have a simple form with a combo box linked to a field on a query and command button with vb code to open a report based on the value of combo box. The command button also includes code to requery the value of the combo box so that what was already generated in the report will not display when generating another report. Since the requery is tied to the command button, there is a delay in requery of the combo box vallue unless I click the command button twice to remove the report already generated. how to apply the requery to the combo box so that when I click my comman button, the requery process will work without me having to click the command button twice?

I have a tabular form that lists all the records (address book). I'm trying to have a combo box filter the records by selecting a contact type (employee, supplier, customer). So far I have the contacts displaying in the combo box.I've tried to create a macro that begins "after update". Its an ApplyFilter macro.

Where Condition = [Contact Type]=[Contact Type Select]

[Contact Type Select] is the combo box.

When I do this, a popup box appears. When I type in the item I want, it works. I want this done automatically.

In my database I have a table that keeps track of a package of items. The package is assigned a package type (counter display, end cap, half pallet, full pallet for example). The record of the association of the package and it's type is held in the main table.

Each of these package types is either a case or a pallet (counter display and end cap are cases and half and full pallets are pallets) This relationship is kept in another table (we will call it description table).

Now, based on the type of package and therefore it being a case or pallet a UPC and a GTIN number are assigned. The GTIN number is different if it is a case or is a pallet. I have a table that stores all of the UPC and GTIN numbers available in 3 columns, one for UPC, one for GTIN Case and one for GTIN Pallet (the UPC is a standard 12 digit and the GTINs are 14 digit -with the first 2 different to designate pallet or case. and all are based on the check digit formula necessary)

The user assigns the UPC and correct GTIN number by clicking a button which applies the next available UPC code to the package and determines if the description of the type (case or pallet) and inserts correct GTIN number into that field. I actually have all of this functioning correctly.

Now the problem. If a user changes the package type, and therefore changes the description, I need to add code to the update event of the combo box that gives the choices for package type that does the following:

Check to see if the original package type was a case or pallet (it's description) and if by changing the package type it is now changed to the other, update the record in the main table to the correct GTIN number based on the existing UPC Code.

OR as I write this, maybe the code could simply update the main table with the correct GTIN code based on the new description and the existing UPC code. This was I would not need to check for a change just do the update every time.

Queries :: Pop Up Messages When Running Update Query / Macro

I have 3 different "buttons" on my form that run individual update queries. I know these update queries are running correctly. Decided to make a macro that will allow me to run all these queries by clicking one macro button.

My question is: Is there some way to stop the pop up msg that advises I am about to run an update query and the next pop up msg that informs me of how many rows I am going to update?

These pop up boxes are starting to drive me crazy when I run the macro.

I have a bit of a problem with a database in Access 2013. On 1 of the forms, I have a number of buttons which open other forms and filter the results using an embedded macro. All has been well until a few days ago when error 2950 pop up box started appearing. After fiddling around for a while it all works OK (without actually changing anything) until next time the database is opened. I checked to make sure the location is "trusted" and all seems OK.

I need to be able to update tblManifestData with a new manifest number and manifest comments, along with assigning it a TSDF. how to be able to enter a new manifest number and the associated data without having it create two lines in tblManifestData. I thought that I could enter a new manifest number, then requery the table and form so it shows the complete list of manifest numbers (including the recently entered one) while staying on the newest entry.

Combo Box Performs Query, Update Combo Box With Only Result?

Here's the deal:

I'm an extreme newbie, I do not know access very well, nor do I know VBA, I do know PHP.

I have a for in access that has 2 user input fields, one for prodid one for shipid. I have a combo box that upon entering data into the previous 2 fields, it does a query against an MsSQL database looking for a record that has both. In any case there will only be 2 outcomes, either 1 record, or null. I would like to have that same combo box automatically use the result as it's value so that users don't have to check the box, because they won't, and so that the rest of my VBA will be able to function properly.

Can anyone assist?

I am trying to write a more complex macro that will start another macro at a preset time, however I am getting stopped at the first hurdle - getting a macro to run another macro.

Here is the code i am using at the moment, all I want to do currently is click the first button, then get the second macro to execute. But no luck, getting error 2157 "cannot find the procedure"

Macro Won't Display Forms

I am trying to create a new macro in my database.
I selected the Openform action and tried to choose the name of the form but when I try and select the name of the form from the dropdown menu, I receive the following message:
THE SEARCH KEY WAS NOT FOUND IN ANY RECORD.

I am not able to see any of my forms on this dropdown menu.

Can anyone please help. I am using Microsoft Access 2002.

I have a form that maximizes when it loads and that works fine, but when I run a macro to open it the command is bypassed. Is there a way around this?

I've tried setting the code to run on different events (open/activate) but that didn't change anything.

The reason I want a Macro to open it is so I can set the property to Add only, perhaps there's another way I can do that, perhaps as part on the form open event in VBA instead?

I have a sub form that contains two fields of FabricNum(ComboBox) and RollNum(ComboBox). The RollNum is restricted to the FabricNum so whenever I choose a FabricNum, list of RollNum changes respectively.

In order to do that, I created a query that contains the FabricNum and RollNum. The FabricNum in the query is restricted to the chosen FabricNum in the subform. I also have an embedded macro on FabricNum which opens the query, close the query and requery based on RollNumber. All what I have explained work perfect once it gets done in a sub form. When I try to do the same thing in a Main form, it does give me an error.

After researches I realized that I have to change the path in a query and I changed it as following:

[Forms]![FabricUsageDetail1].[FabricUsageDetail2].[Form].[FabricNum].

Unfortunately, I still get an error of 2950 which says the command or action "Requery" is not available now.
