How to update data from one table to another table using form.
I have data coming from design team in Database 1 and using form i want search data and assign the job to a person and store it in the database with his name. I have to do this because database from design team is read only.
I have a form with two tables referenced. I am using the form only to update one of the tables. I am using the other table to pull a reference field. When I add my second table using the query builder, it makes it to where I can't edit/add in my form. I assume its because of the SQL insert statement, but I don't see this statement and can't find where it is to edit it. How to have the form only update one of the tables, while just using the second table as a reference for a field?
I have two tables (Access 2010). One with a list of names (List1) and another with a very similar list of names (List2), but they differ in very small ways. For example, List1 might have John Smith, and List2 would have Smith, John L.; and Smith, John. List2 also has a unique ID associated with these names that I need to append to List1.
I need to design a form that will allow me to look up names in List1, and have it return all names that are similar in List2. I then need to be able to choose with record in List2 matches with the List1 entry (based on a few other columns in List2, such as birth date) and have the form add that unique ID to the List1 record.
I have a simple data entry form where I can key the "row", "COLUMN", SPACE "a" and space "B" onto an access 2010 table. Is there a way that if I key the same four fields, e.g., A5AB that I get a message back before updating telling me that combination already exists?
I do generate a calculated data field, which in this case would be "a5ab" and which is displayed on report screens. Could the value of this calculated field be stored on the Table and be used to prevent the same value from again be entered on the Table?
I have a form that has 2 combo boxes and a list box. As I select items from each of the lists, the lists get changed. I tried setting some queries to Snapshot, but then I couldn't select from the list.
Alternatively, How can I find out where or why the data is being overwritten?
I have staff table which is a lookup field on the phone call table.when the phonecall form opens I want the employee field to auto fill in the employees name from the lookup field according to there security level.so something like this
On Open Select Case Forms!frmLogin!cboUser.Column(4) Case X = 4'the employees security level' Case X = Insert Table_tblPhoneCalls!EmployeeID"4" into Form_frmPhoneCalls!Employee. End Select
of course this is a syntax error as I do not know the correct code words.
I have a table with more than a million records. I want to add a new column with date equals to e.g.3/14/2012 for all the records. I am using update query, but it is super slow (taking more than a hour)..is there any other way to do this?
In Access 2010 is it possible to have a tblKits with a column on it Reactions 8. Then on a form a field Used. When thee user inputs 2 into the Used field can the Reactions on in the tblKits be updated to 6 automatically?
I am relatively new to Access 2007, I am having an issue with a sub form not showing all the data from a table.
Basically I have 2 tables: Headers and Line Details, they are linked via an order number. The headers will only ever have 1 record per order number but there can be multiple records on the line details table.
I have imported the data into both tables. When I open my main form, all the data from the header file is all visable and all correct for all records. However when I look at the data in the sub form, it is only showing data for some of the records.
I have checked and the data is correctly linked, and if I change the "source object" to point directly at the table in the sub form it shows the record is there. When I point it back to my sub form it is blank.
Is it possible to have a value in an excel 2010 cell be used to update an access 2010 db?
For example, if in a spreadsheet "test" cell A2=3 then in a db "test" a column "value" is 3. However, if the value in the spreadsheet changes so does the db.
I need to create a database use access that the access can update the database based on a schedule, like daily. For example, in the table there are several columns, and each column stands for a meter point, and in real world, each meter will have a reading every 5 mins. Now the database consists of all the readings till yesterday 11:55pm, by right, tomorrow for example at 8am, the database will update the readings till tonight 11:55pm, today's readings will be placed right after below yesterday 11:55pm row in the same table. The data source will be generated in CSV file every day 8am and put into a specific folder. What I need to do is to update them into this database.
So, I have a form [frmmembers] which will enable the table [tblmembers] to be updated when a button is pressed. When the button is pressed, it will enable the fields "First Name", "Last Name", and "Password" to be updated.
At the moment, the data changes without pressing the button (as soon as it is entered into the text boxes on the form), which means that a password could be accidentally changed and could prevent the user being able to enter the system (which requires their personal MemberID and Password).
Is there a way of making it so that the data inserted into the text boxes on the form will only change the data in the table after the update button is pressed?
I have a database to track temporary decertification's. I have the expiration and max dates calculated out from the original dates at the top of each box. The temp expiration date is calculated by adding 267 days from the first date . When we enter an extension, the new expiration date is 30 days from the extension date. My question is, how can I make the expiration date update when a new extension is put in.
For ex.
Temp Decert Date: 05 Dec 2014 Temp Decert Extens 1: Temp Decert Extens 2: Temp Decert Extens 3: Temp Experation Date: 31 Aug 2015 Max Temp Date: 04 Dec 2015 how can I make the expiration date update to go 30 days from what is in the extens field 1, 2, and 3 (respectively) instead of 267 days from the original date? So I want it to look like this after updating a field Temp Decert Date: 05 Dec 2014 Temp Decert Extens 1: 30 Aug 2015 Temp Decert Extens 2: Temp Decert Extens 3: Temp Experation Date: 29 Sep 2015 Max Temp Date: 04 Dec 2015
I have a combo box that get its values from another table the problem i am having is when a user don't see the info they have in the combo box then enter the new data into the combo box field but it don't update my table with the entered values. How can i fix this to update my table if the user add new data in the combo box field.
I've read over and over that calculated data is bad, that's fine with me... but here is my dillema...
I have four fields that interact with my calculation in a single form. There is only one table in the database.
AmountF (The stored data in the table) (amount financed) FC (calculated by =[amountf]*.25) (finance charge) Amount Paid (used in calculation of total due) total due (calculated by =[amountf]+[fc]-[amount paid])
The math already works, everything works. I can choose to print the form and it looks great. However, I would like for it to (when I'm done printing the form) somehow save the total due data to the AmountF column in the table. AmountF is in the same line as all the other information, so I would like it to not create a new record just update the old one.
All four of these fields have a text box in the form for themselves.
I'm a relative beginner at VBA and I'm trying to use a form to update a table. The form is used to get an agent name, start and end date. When they hit the "update" button, I want to go to the table, select all records where the agent name (called Fullname in the table) matches and the field called "event_date" is between the start and end dates. I have the below code, which isn't working.
Set rst = CurrentDb.OpenRecordset(Table) rst.MoveFirst Do While rst.EOF = False If rst.Fields("Fullname").Value = Me.Agent And Me.StartDate <= rst.Fields("event_date") And rst.Fields("event_date") <= Me.EndDate Then rst.Edit rst.Fields("CompleteDate").Value = DATE rst.Fields("Comments").Value = "Autofilled" rst.Update End If rst.MoveNext Loop rst.Close
I have one DB that is used for creating/storing customer ID's, and another DB that is used for creating/storing job information for customers.I have linked the table from the customer DB to the job DB.
There is a table in the job database that holds customer name and ID, and some VBA that generates unique job codes.
Is it possible to have the data from the linked table automatically update into the existing table?
I have an "order details" table that needs to populate a field called "Voucher" with data from another table called "codes". The "codes" table also has a true/false field called "allocated" because once allocated the code cannot be re-used.
I am trying to work out how to automatically allocate the next unallocated code in the "codes" table to each record in the "order details" table when that order details record has a DiscountID of "92".
Order Details Table Fields and conditions/criteria: ID - primary key DiscountID - only when the DiscountID = 92 Voucher - only populated when Discount ID = 92
Codes table Fields and conditions/criteria: ID - primary key code = text field with a code like "einstein01", "einstein02" Allocated = False
Is there a way to put the next available code into the order details record then mark that code as allocated in the codes table. Then, move on to the next order details record that has a discountID = 92, input the next unallocated code and mark that code etc. etc.
Ideally, I would like to do this to happen via an event when the Order forms button "Close" is clicked.
Some days ago I made it by using "query", but now I forget it how I make the relation on this situation. Here is my problem.I have 3 Table on mdb file, named Table: A, B, Status.Table Status have One Filed with 1 Data: Dishonor
Table A have three fields
Sl Number: (Auto Number) Status: Lookup wizard-data of (Table-Status)-Default Value is "Honor" Amount:Number
Table B have two Fileds Sl Number: Number Status: Lookup wizard-data of (Table-Status)
After Entering Some data on Table A it's Look like as:
Asl numberstatusamount 1Honor5222 2Honor855 3Honor988 4Honor7777 5Honor777 6Honor9999
[code]...
Now I want to change the Status of SL Number Honor to Dishonor so I fillup data on Table B is as like following
sl numberstatus 5Dishonor
Now how I can get the result as following by using query:sl numberstatusamount 1Honor5222 2Honor855 3Honor988 4Honor7777 5Dishonor777 6Honor9999 7Honor6666 8Honor7777 9Honor666
I'm making a very basic sales system for my school project and I'm currently working on the stock management part, as I said it's very basic.
My task -When the user receives a stock delivery they need to update the stock numbers. the value they need to update is the StockNumber value in the Products table. to so this I want to make a form that displays all the product names in a table with a textbox or cell next to it in which the user can enter the amount of that item that has been delivered. And at the bottom of the form there is a button which will add all these new values to the existing values.
1. There is no set number of products, the user is able to add new ones, this is preventing me from just making a separate textbox for each existing product
2. I have attached a jpeg I made in paint to illustrate how I want to the form to work as well as my system as it currently stands, there are a few unused forms and queries.
I've got two tables - one that works like a cypher and one with all my records.
I have 2 queries. One that is a simple query that extracts data that is not so user-friendly and puts it into a user-friendly format. The Other query is for any records that the first query excludes because the new combination of data (lets just call it a code) is not in the cypher table, but needs to be added.
How do a create a form that will show the records in the 'excluded records' query and allow me to select from a drop-down list a specific set of categories to update the cypher table ?
Example :
Record Table: Cypher Table:
Ford Focus = Sedan Ford F-150 = Truck Ford Freestyle = Wagon Ford Escape = SUV
Now a new model comes in, a Ford Edge which is an SUV but is not in my cypher table.
I have the query to pull in the excluded Ford Edge, but I want a form to show "Ford Edge" in the first column and be able to select from a drop-down list "SUV", and either automatically update my cypher table or require me to press a button to update the table (whichever is easier).
I am looking for updating one record in a table from data on a form.
I have a table called ctntbl with fields: Item, Credit_Amt, and Incd_Num.
I also have a non linked form from which I want to make changes to one specific item in the ctntbl table. The user will enter a number in field FRM_CR_INC which links one specific record in table ctntbl matching field Incd_Num. Then they will enter data in FRM_CR_AMT which I am needing to update just that one record in the table field Credit_Amt with the data in FRM_CR_AMT.
Here is my code:
DoCmd.RunSQL "Update ctntbl set credit_Amt = " & Me!FRM_CR_AMT & " Where Incd_Num = " & Form![FRM_CR_INC]
I am getting a data type mis match error. Cant understand where error is coming from. All fields in table and form are text fields.
I have a form, which has a search box. This allows you to search through the id numbers of each record. Once an ID has been selected a bound textbox displays the id number. Other unbound textboxes then display other information from the table with the relevant record.
What I want to do is then allow users to change information in textboxes and update the record.
