Forms :: Update One Form Automatically Upon Fields On Another
Oct 7, 2013
I would like to update the Previous Education tab based on values on the Courses tab.The aim of this is to keep a clients previous education upto date in order to append it to a CV etc.
I am attempting to create a patient tracking database for a clinic I work in and I am stuck at one small but major part.
I have a parent form called frm_Patient_index. On this form you can enter patient details such as personal details, observations ect. I need to create a lab request form for certain tests to be performed.
I want so that a button on the frm_patient_index form opens a subform where the relevent tests can be requested via tick boxes. Now here is my problem I have managed to create all of that except for the information to be entered into the frm_lab_request automatically and get SAVED to its corresponding table. It will not save for me.
I can get the information such as Badge Number, First Name, Surname and DOB to all enter into the fields automatically but getting them to save to the table is not happening.
I prepared students details in access, but when i look the form view students particulars looks automatically (like name, age, weight and address). But what i need is students details has to come after I enter the name.
This is an employee timekeeping database. I have a main form "frmTEMain", with a tab subform named "frmGridsub" with a tab named "Grid" on the lower half. On the tab page is the "frmGridsub" a continuous form that looks like a datasheet, many horizontal rows of data. The subform works correctly with several combo boxes that auto populate. There are many different employees listed in the Grid subform. "Employee" is the name used for the field that holds the unique ID number in the tables that feed the subform. The subform populates another table "dbo_BCRC."
When I click on a row in the subform I want fields to update on the Main Form with Employee, LastName, FirstName, that come from the table that was populated when data was entered into the subform. As the person clicks on the various rows in the subform, the main form fields need to synch with the row.
Do I use "Got Focus" event? Do I need to create another subform and place it on the top half of the Main Form?
why my vba code wouldn't work.I have a scorecard form, and what I wanted to do on a form was that if a user enters a number in a bound box (to a table), it would automatically update an unbound box. So I coded it as this.
Private Sub SupplierCorrectiveActionRequests_Enter() If [Request] = 0 Then [Text30] = 100 Elseif [Request] = 1 Then [Text30] = 75 Elseif [Request] = 2 Then [Text30] = 50 Elseif [Request] = 3 Then [Text30] = 25 Elseif [Request] >= 4 Then [Text30] = 0 End Sub
But it throws an error that there cannot be Then if there are no ifs, weird.Another problem I had is that I'm using a continuous form, and whenever I scroll down there seems to be a visual bug,is there any way to do that without changing the theme?
I have 6 text box on the form which are unbound. Now we enter the entry in these boxes then I have update button on the form to update the record in table. all fields should be clear after update the records in table so I can enter the new entry.
I am using ms access 2007. Is there any liberary to add?
I am attempting to track the duration of days since an initial date.
A individual has 3 business days to have their bloodwork/labs drawn after given instructions to do so. 'StartDate'= the initial date. 'LabsDate'= current date(would like it to automatically update to the current date everytime the database is open). BD ElapsedLabs= # of days that has elapsed between the initial day and todays date.
I am able to calculate the #days elapsed no problem, but I am having a problem with 'LabsDate' automatically updating to todays date. I am able to automatically place the current date in the first/ fresh entry, but it fails to update the next day.
I have tried placing the code Me.LabsDate= date() in the Before Update Form Property Sheet. Cannot get it to work.
hi there I am having some difficulty with using Access (aren't we all?) ;-( I have a table with a the following fields: START_DATE, END_DATE, RENTAL_PERIOD, DAILY_COST & TOTAL_COST.
What I am tring to achieve is that when someone fills in the START_DATE, END_DATE & DAILY_COST fields (which update the table behind the form) that the form will take the END from the START and put the result into the RENTAL_PERIOD field and then multiply this by the DAILY_COST value to automatically fill in and display the TOTAL_COST field.
It must be simple but I just can't get it to work and it's stopping me from sleeping  I have found myself doing Access in my dreams which is not good!!
Any tips much appreciated - Thanks Mike
PS I have written 2 queries which will calculate this for me but dont seem to be able to action the queries from within the form (if that helps!)
I have a couple of drop down menus on a form i have designed which have values which are dependent on another drop down.
So, for example, when i select USA in country, the US$, appears in my currency box but i have to select US$ from the drop down when i want it to appear automatically.
Any ideas on how to do this?
Cheers
Also, i have a calcualtion attached to a text box:
[Text87] = (1 / [List93]) * [Combo85]
However, the calculation will not be performed, even on click, until [List93] has been clicked on. [List93] is a constant value and is a hidden field so how can i make access perform the calculation without clickin [List93]
I'm a maintenance coordinator for a small trucking company and I'm putting together an access database to track and manage all of our fleet maintenance. I'm rank amateur when it comes to access but I've been doing ok with it and so far I've been able to get it to do almost everything I set out to have it do.
But I'm having a hard time figuring out how to make this trick work. Here's what I want it to do. We have two groups of trailers, working trailers and storage unit trailers. We do preventative maintenance every six months on road trailers and once a year on storage units. I have a field in tblEquipmentMaster which shows the last PM date. I have a query and an report which use that LastPMDate field as well as the value of a StorageUnit checkbox to calculate what units are due/overdue for PM.
In addition to all this, I've got tables and forms set up to track maintenance records. I'm tracking the maintenance invoices as well as the details of each line item on the invoices (changed water pump, replaced tail light, PM service etc). So what I'd like to have happen is for the LastPMDate field in tblEquipmentMaster to update to the value in InvoiceDate in tblMaintenance anytime the field Description in tblMaintenanceDetails contains the text 'PM' for the unit number in question. Alternatively tblMaintenanceDetails also has a lookup field which contains maintenance codes. So the field VMRSCode could also be used as the trigger anytime the value 'PM' is selected.
In a form I have Two fields (which are of interest):
1) EmployeesName which is a lookup from another table named
TBLEmployees that contains two Fields EmployeesName EmployeesNumber
2) Second Field named EmployeesNumber which currently also using a lookup from table named TBLEmployees
if possible what I want to try and do when I select EmplyeeName from the dropdown list of names I want the EmplyeeNumber to be inserted into this field automatically rather than searching through the dropdown list again is this possible?
I have made a form with a subform to search for existing records based on inputting a postcode then selecting the relevant address from the subform which then fills the form with details of that chosen record ready to issue a further package linked to that original record.
To prevent errors and confusion by the users I coded the following:
Private Sub CmdFindAddress_Click() If IsNull(Me.TxtPostcode) Then MsgBox "You need a Postcode to use this button. Please type one in." Me.TxtPostcode.SetFocus
[Code] ....
'Where the postcode entered does not exist in records or if there is a mistake typing in the postcode, below will remove residual record details from previous postcode ready for a new postcode search:
For Each ctlCurr In Me.Controls If ctlCurr.Tag = "clear" Then ctlCurr = Null End If Next ctlCurr Me.Refresh End Sub .........
The problem is that if I test the system by inputting a postcode where I know there are no records, the CtlCurr is highlighted and the error message is:
Compile error: variable not defined ..........
This does not happen if I have already selected a postcode so the record fields are filled and then change the postcode - so the record fields are cleared.
Previously, entering a postcode which did not match existing records generated the "there are no records...." error message instead. How do I define CtlCurr?
I'm still very new to Access.I have a form with subforms. Some of the fields are calculated fields.I cannot figure out what some of the fields will not update automatcally. Once I click out of the form and then back in, it will update.Tried many things like, Refresh, Requery both on the form and on the text box(es).I wish I could figure out how to attach my test database to show you.
I have one field AccountName in customer table and another field AccountID.
In my form I would like to select from the combo box AccountName during data entry and then have the AccountID automatically update in the Account ID field.
I have created a sub form in a form that allows data entry for order details. I have a column that holds order amounts that automatically rounds up or down, and I don't want this. I have examined the back end table properties for this particular field, and the number field is set to general.
I just built a tracking database (I can't post it because it contains PHI, and I do hope I don't have to) and it's been giving this issue starting today.
When I am in a field the cursor automatically goes to the end and highlights everything between the end and where I click. So if I mistype the third character I need to delete everything from the end to the third character to edit it.
It just started doing this when I loaded it up. Does anyone have any idea?

I am having trouble figuring out the method to automatically update some fields in SubForm from 2 other SubForms.I have attached 2 pics, the first GradeEntry1 shows what the tblTopic_Class_Grade form looks like after I manually enter everything into it. GradeEntry2 is what the form looks like when I fill out the Form starting at the top.
I'd like the tblTopics_Class_Grade form auto-populate the TrainingClassID (it currently does this), TopicClassID, StudentID, TrainingTopicID based off the entry from the above forms. My end goal is that I need to have a grade for each student on each training topic for each class. Like:
I have a number of tables in my database, and they're linked in with a form. I'd like to have a field in a form that's populated automatically based on what's inputted in a different field. For example, I've got one table with names and descriptions on widgets (name in column A, description in column B).
Widget 1 This widget is blue Widget 2 This widget is green Widget 3 This widget is yellow
When I'm in my form, I want when I select Widget 1 to have the corresponding text (This widget is blue) appear in a field below.
I have created and saved a form in access automatically from database table. But when I change Display Control of a field from text box to combo box,it is not reflected in the form automatically after I refresh the form.
I have a form and table called pcinfo-vendor that the customer enters some date that they need. They also need to pull up some vendor information from a table called vendorinfo Vendor name, Address, City, State, Phone #, FAX # and Email. How can I bring up the data from the vendorinfo table on to my form called pcinfo-vendor? So that the customer does not have to type in - Vendor name, Address, City, State, Phone #, FAX # and Email each time for every vendor.
how to Add/Update record including existence of record based on single unique field. Now I trying to learn how to check existence of record on multiple field before adding (at least two) and how to update the record with multiple field record
Below is my testing table fields
Year Month Working Days 2013 Jan 20 2013 Feb 17 2013 Mar 22
Now two situations adding a new record and updating the existing record Which means the unique fields are (Year + Month)
In this table I have two fields Seats Available and Seats Remaining
When I register a student to a Course in the Courses table I would like the corresponding Seats Remaining field for that course to decrease automatically.
I can, of course, run a report or a query to see how many are enrolled in the course and then manually update the Seats Remaining field (which is what I currently do), but I would like this process to be automated each time I register a new student.
I am very new at Microsoft Access. I have two forms, A and B, that are filled out by two different users. Form A gets filled out first than form B gets filled out. Each has a name box as well as a birthdate box and a few other similar text fields. However, each form also has a few distinctive fields. I was wondering how I could input the common information in Form A to Form B so the user of Form B does not have to spend time retyping the name and birthdates again. In other words, I want to synchronize the similar records between the two forms. I would like the values to appear in a table as well. I would greatly appreciate it if someone could help me with the visual basic code. Thank You.
