Forms :: User View - Reduce Amount Of Options On Menu Bars
Aug 15, 2013
I have created a front end and put into production for my users but I want to reduce the amount of menu bar options they see so someone cant click on a button wondering what it does and mess something up. What is the best way to reduce the amount of options a user sees on the menu bars when they open the front end of the db?

Help! I'm not sure how I did this, but NO matter what database I go into i can see any toolbar or menu bar. Yes I tried the shift key. How do I turn it all back on?
When I right click I can get the database startup properties, everything has the check, yet I can't see any toolbars or menu bars. I've searched though the help, and I can't see to find out how to put it back.

I am currently in the process of creating a pop-up menu to allow my users to do some simple text formatting.I have used the following code to do so:
Code:
Dim cmbShortcutMenu As Office.CommandBar
' Create the new pop-up menu instance
Set cmbShortcutMenu = CommandBars.Add("popupFormatMenu", msoBarPopup, False, True)
' Add the bold button
[code]....
The problem is that I now want to add the FontColor picker control and I keep getting an error.I think the problem lies in the type of control I want to add. According to the Microsoft support files I downloaded the fontColor control is of type Gallery and ID = 11949, so the code should look something like this:
Code:
cmbShortcutMenu.Controls.Add Type:=msoControlButton, id:=11949
I need to replace msoControlButton with something else.

How to create custom menus in Forms in MS ACcess 2010. For example, I have a form fmrMainMenu. At the top of the form I want to create a menu labelled "Reports" that when clicked or hovered it displays a list of sub-menu options of all the Reports available in the database. Once the user makes a selection the report is generated. The functionality that I am looking for is similar to the old menu options like File, Edit, etc., in MS Office.

What is the best way to turn all the menu bars and tools bars off and back on when a form opens and closes? Can you just loop through the numerated objects?

Greetings.
I am pulling my hair out trying to create a customized menu bar. Eventually, I want to have a customized menu bar and tool bar for report and different customized menu bar and tool bar for forms. I created the tool bar for the report window. Then when I tried to create a new menu bar I could not remove menu selections without removing the same menu selections from the default Menu Bar.
I selected View->Toolbars->Customize...
Then I clicked on New (command button)
Then I named it (RptMenuBar)
Then I selected 'Built-In Menus' from the Commands Tab
Then I dragged the 'File' from the Command list into the new Menu Bar
Then I went to the new menu bar and dropped down the selections under File and started to left click and drag what I didn't in the NEW MENU BAR. However, it turns out when I did that the same selections were removed from the default Menu Bar.
I was ablel to restore the default Menu Bar. But I want to have a customized Menu Bar and be able to select that new Menu Bar and associate it with every Report that is in my Database.
Any ideas? If you have some good instructional references, please point me in that direction. Thanks.
SueB

Hi,
For i = 1 To CommandBars.count
If (CommandBars(i).name <> "Right Click Mouse") Then
CommandBars(i).Enabled = False
End If
Next i
I tried to use this code.
However, right click mouse is disable.
How can I disable all menus except the right click mouse option?
Thanks.

I'd like to disable the options to see the table or query design - and control other thing the user can or can't see.
How can I do that?

I have been tasked to create a report menu for my users to select a report (there are about 20), select which filters that they want to apply to that report, then run based on what the user selected as the filters.
I have about 30 different filters to create, and based on which report the user selects, the filters that apply will need to be shown. I'm thinking the reports will be in an option group, and based on which report the users selects the filters that apply to that report will be displayed. From there the user can choose to apply a filter or not, and run the report.
I am trying to figure out the best way to tackle this. Should I try to create a table that contains the report name and type of filter to loop thru the controls to set visible, and build the SQL?

Hi.
I lost a bunch of menu option sin my MS Access. In the Tools menu, almost everything is disabled (including Options) and in Add-Ins, all I have is the Add-In manager -and it doesn't seem to work as I readded all the add-ins and there ain't there.
I tried repairing, uninstalling and reinstalling Access from MS Office 2003 but I still have the same issue...
Is there a way to reset to orginial config?
Thanks,

Hello,
I need help with something (i attached a database).
I need to run a report based on user's options so i created a form. There are two comboboxes and 2 checkboxes on the form. If the checkbox is checked i want to consider the choice of the user on the particular combobox. If no, to ignore that column.
The second problem is when the user choose "no choice" i want the query to run for all choices without filtering the combobox.
Any suggestions?
Thank you in advance.

Hello,
I've read most of the General category on Toolbars and Startup Menus, but still can't figure this out. I have no VIEW or TOOLS on my toolbar, so I can't get to the startup menu, toolbars, or anything else. When I go to Customize, one option is Built-in Menus. When I try to drag the VIEW or the TOOLS to the menu bar, it won't happen. I have tried the Shift trick, but it did not work either. Can someone help me?

My problem is that I have a couple of forms where scrollbars are not appearing on forms when they are too long to fit on-screen. Instead they're just going below the bottom of the screen and there's no way to access things at the bottom of the form. This is happening with a data input form as well as with a form I'm using to filter and display a report. I've tried selecting both "Vertical only" and "both" for the scrollbar property of the form, but it doesn't seem to make any difference.
The forms are being opened in "dialog" mode, the only option for opening a form in a web database when using a macro to open it, it seems. If I manually open the form in 'normal' mode, it has scrollbars. Also, if I open a report with a macro (on click), it has the option to open in 'normal' mode and has scrollbars and all is well. But if I want the user to be able to click a button to open the form, it seems I have to use dialog mode.

I have a report which lists spend by customer. It is based on a query which requests the customer number I want the report for.
How can I get the query/report to offer a drop down list of the customer numbers available, so that I don't have to manually enter the number each time from memory!
Thanks in advance!

Hi all - I'd like to create a menu for 3 different users so the menus will pop up when each respective user opens the database. I'd use a switchboard but I want more freedom in my form. Is there a way to do this in access? For example, I'd like Menu 1 to automatically open when USER 1 logs on, Menu 2 to automatically open when USER 2 logs on, and so on. I've set up security already and know how to use the startup, Display Form/Page item under tools. I just need to open different menus depending on the user. Any ideas would be of great help. Thanks much.

I have a database that was created in Access 2003. I'm using this MDB in Access 2010.I need to change a user created menu. The update involves changing an existing entry and adding a new menu item. The menu looks like:
Project
Time Entry
Time Spread
I need the "Time Spread" to change to "Time Spread Daily" with a changed macro name. After that a new menu entry is "Time Spread Monthly". This menu will run a new macro that will display a form.I think the only way to do that in 2010 is to use VBA.

I have One table(and designed form from it) in which i have recording the daily transactions(it is like a daily book). Daily transactions took place like Purchase of items of Amount 45, sale=70, sold on account=100 etc.
What problem i am facing is: I would like to Add Cash In Hand amount and would like to show it on my form. When day end I would like to move remaining cash In Hand on separate column of that date. The next day i would like to take the previous Remaining Cash in Hand as Cash In Hand at Start for next date and so on.

I am trying to make a report in which I can see the amount of money that I have to pay weekly to an employee. To explain myself clearer, I have different rates for each employee. For example:
NameNormalPayRateVacationPayRateSickPayRateOvertimePayRateStandbyPayRate
John Smith$15$10$15$30$8
Ken Jonson$10$8$10$20$8
I am doing this in a query. So what I want to be able to do is, for example, take 4 hours that the employee worked at NormalPayRate and multiply it. But if tomorrow the employee worked at a different rate, for example 3 hours overtime, I want those 3 hours multiplied by OvertimePayRate.
The way I saw it on my Google researches, is that they have only one rate and the amount will be [SumOfHours]*[Rate]. But how can I tell my query to skip, for example, one rate because the employee didn't work at that rate that day. So I can have different amount for the different rates.
By the way, entering the information I can divide at what rate the employee worked x day. So if the employee work 6 hours at regular, and later on 4 hours at standby, I have those information separated in my table.
Results that I am getting: I can easily get the amount in money multiplying the whole hours by a rate, so my result in my report will be multiplied by the same rate.
I am using Access 2013 ...

Why the ability to view the properties of an object within a form is not available when you double click on it in design view?
I was happily working away double clicking on a command button to edit some code when for some reason the next time I tried to edit it did not open up for me.
I was unable to access it even by right clicking on the object & selecting properties as that also appears to be disabled, not greyed out or anything but just does nothing when selected.
Have I inadvertently changed a setting somewhere that prevents the properties from being displayed?

I have 4 tables and around 440 records but can only view up to 417 in the form I have designed. I have been adding new records via form and it has been added to my main table, but when i try to view it in form view - the record is not available to view. What do I need to do to correct this problem?
I have checked that there are no filters, data entry is set to No, Auto deletions, additions and edits are set to yes.
Also to mention it seems that the problem has arisen since I set up some new queries, there is a one to one relationship between the tables!
