Forms :: Using Split Form With Datasheet - Find Not Working
Nov 9, 2013
I'm using a split form with the datasheet on the left.
When I use the 'Find' in the Navigation buttons at the bottom of the form, it refuse to find text in a particular text box.
The text box is a memo field and is enabled.
Example:
I have text in the memo field which is a title of an episode - "The Outcast."
When I start typing "the" it finds this text in the memo field. But when I type the entire title it the finds the text in another field. ie "out."
I've tried the 3 different Search setting in options. When I use the Find command from the ribbon it work ok as long as I select the text box to search in first.
I am pretty new to VBA and I am having the same problem of hiding and un-hiding columns on a datasheet of a split form. I am building a system that will be used in front of customer and therefore wish to hide columns that contain cost sensitive data. The same forms need to be able to show the Sales Rep the hidden columns simply by ticking a box. Basically a toggle on and off of hidden columns.
I have been playing around with the code below (which i found in another forum) to hide the Field called COO when I click the tick box called chkHIdeFields check box. This works on a Single form but not on a datasheet of a split form.
Private Sub chkHideFields_Click() ' Note: vbTrue = -1 If Me.chkHideFields = vbTrue Then Me.COO.Visible = True Else: Me.COO.Visible = False End If End Sub
I have been able to hide the column of my split form by using the ColumnHidden property of the On Load event just as a proof of concept that the ColumnHidden property actually works to hide a column, which it does. This is the code that im using to hide the column called COO.
Me.COO.ColumnHidden = True
However if I then set it to = False and then close and open the form, it doesn't unhide the column. the only way I can unhide the column is to do it from the Form view via the un-hide dialogue pop up box.
I have two issues here, the first one is getting the form to recognize when to hide and when to show the column of the datasheet on the split form and the second is to get the code to for the check box method.
Lastly once I get it working for 1 field I need to be able to define a list of 7 or 8 other fields all at the same time.
I have a split form on my database where I have my combo boxes bound to a primary key but they display the description field so it's much easier to understand. Is there a way to do this with option groups? In other words, I would like the datasheet part to display the option group labels rather than the values so it is easier to understand.
I have a database i have been working on (access 2007). In the past I have been using a list box to select records. Now I would like to use the datasheet view or split form view. Everything seemed fine until I moved to linked tables.
My problem is, with the same query, the listbox is lightning fast at changing the recordsource.
When I change the recordsource on a datasheet view or split form, it takes... ages and shows "Calculating.." On larger recordsets it freezes access.
I have a split form (frmPatient Schedules) that shows me my records in the datasheet view at the bottom section of the form. My records have a field with a checkbox (ckbxHOLD).how can I get the records that don't have their checkbox checked to be copied as new records to a different table (tblHome Visits)?
How to correct the issue below. I created a split form and I have 2 combo boxes that allow multiple selections. The one combo box for LOB (line of business) works perfect and does not create duplicate records in the datasheet view of the split form. The 2nd combo box with multiple selections creates duplicate records in the datasheet depending on how many selections are made.
I have checked this in the underlying table and there are no duplicate records, it is only in the split form datasheet. I have checked settings and configuration between the 2 combo boxes that are reacting differently and they appear to be identical...
i have a form with two cascading combo's that work when the form is opened as a single form however when i place the form on Page 3 of a TabCtl it fails to cascade the correct values.
frmSiteDetails > TabCtl33 > Page3 > frm ConditionDetails subform with Combo's 1 & 2 Combo 1 = [ElementGroupName] SELECT ElementGroupID, ElementGroupName FROM tblElementGroup; has Column Count of 2 and Bound Column 2 Combo 2 = [Element] qrySubElements has SQL:
I have a form ("Contacts Form") that I use with a few subforms on it. One of the subforms is "sbfrmCompanys" that has information on the contacts company. One of the fields in sbfrmCompanys is "Organization." Users used to be able to use the "find" feature to search for an organization's record, however the "find" feature suddenly stopped working. Now, when a user searches for an organization that I KNOW is in the company table, a dialogue box appears that says Access has finished searching and no records were retrieved. This cannot be so because I know for a fact the particular value I am searching for is in the table.
I created a database which had to be split to allow multiple people to access it with three 'front-ends' so that different people had different levels of access. Due to security problems this database had to be moved to another location on the network. Now I have used the linked table manager to update all of the frontends so they can locate the data. Previously users would just copy their own version, appropriate to them, and use this to update; now though only one person can open the database at a time with the backend database being opened and hence locked (if that makes sense).
Any suggestions as to why this has happened, or solutions would be appreciated.
I have a SQL view linked into a ms access application. That view is used in a subform and in datasheet view. I want to select multiple records and click on a button that will delete those selected rows. I need the button because the view has 1 table and a subquery joined in the view and will not allow me to delete from the main table in that view. So, I figured I can select the rows I want to delete and then create a button that will send a passthru command to delete those records from the main table.
I have a split db in use by about 20 people. Ocasionally a user opens a record that is already opened by some other user and if changes are made then he gets error 7878; "the data has changed error"
Is it possible to find out which records are actually being used/open/edited in a split db? All tables are related to the main key (CallID on table Contacts).
If it was possible to find out, I could have a label show up in the db record search form telling the user not to open that record.
I have a subform that is in Datasheet view. If I open this subform on it's own, the Date Picker works for the Date field. However, if I open the main form with the subform on it, the date picker doesn't work? Nothing happens when I select a date on the calender.
I have a Find Duplicates query that I created with the Query Wizard.
IF I run the query and find duplicates, I can close the resultant datasheet with the close button.
IF I run the query and find duplicates and delete them, I can close the resultant datasheet with the close button.
IF I run the query after I have found and deleted duplicates and closed the window, I can close the resultant datasheet (with no records) with the close button.
BUT IF I run the query when there are no duplicates, it opens the datasheet with no records, but you can't close it with the close button. You have to exit the database completely.
I don't know SQL or VB. Have to do this in Access.
I thought about creating an If statement in a macro, but am not sure of the syntax, but this would be the basic statement I would make:
IF Find Duplicates query returns no records, THEN Cancel Event. End IF
I'm having a problem with a database that i had split. While creating teh database, i had it stored on my personal drive at work, but wanted to move it to the shared drive so the data could be stored there. this is to deal with cross site network connectivity issues that we encountered with another database here at work.
When splitting the database, i split it on my personal drive and then dragged the back end to the common drive. I realized my error, but when attempting to correct it, i somehow have two of the same file, and no back end?
I receive the error on the attached document when attempting to access any of the tables or information in either of the files, the "back end" that i placed on teh drive, and the "front end" that i have on my personal drive.
I also tried to relink the tables through the linked table manager, but receive the same error when attempting that.
Is there a way to recover from this? I had backed up my file by making a copy prior to splitting, but somewhere in this process, this became linked to these and is having the same issue. Is there a way to recover the old "unsplit" version? I cannot copy over all of teh tables, etc. because i get the same error as earlier.
I can attach a copy of my database for reference...
When I click a button on my [Student] form it opens the [Family] form. I created a find button, but it can't find anything when I use it. Now, if I open the [Family] form directly then the find button works like a charm. What's wrong?
When I right click a row on the data sheet side of a split form an select "New Record" I want the curser to go to the first field on the single record side. I've placed this in the OnCurrent but it did no good.
Code:
If Me.NewRecord Then Me!Descrfiption.SetFocus. End If
Any way to set the focus to the single form Side of a split form?
Basically I need to design form that looks very similar to either Split Form or Subform. I have attached a print screen of what I roughly need. The form is split into two parts. In the first/top part there are some List Box/Date fields that act as filters to the bottom form, so the bottom form displays only records that match values in red. The second part of the top form has some field that require input from user and then these records are added to the bottom form. I was trying to use both Split Form and Subform and none of it is working,I have attached an example of database and this form would be based on data from Query1.
Is it possible (haven't found a way yet) to have two "split subforms" on a parent form side-by-side? When I try the multiple rows portion of the split view I created as a subform doesn't appear?
Want to have a form when I have search/filter/select record for table 1 (on the left) and table 2 (on the right) with a means in between to create a relationship which has a few parameters.
I have built an Access 2010 split database on my computer and it functions as built. My next step was to copy it to the server at work and test it. I discovered the tables had to be re-linked and so did that. As I have read in the Access World Forums in order to function as a multi-user database a copy of the front end must be placed on the individual workstation with the back end residing on the server, however the hyperlinks in the back end will not function when the copy on the workstation is run. I simply get an unable to open "filename" error pop-up. I can run the server copy and everything functions as built. I know that the hyperlinks require all the files to be in the same folder (relative vs. absolute), but if the back end contains all the hyperlinks why does the location of the front end seem to affect the operation of the back end?
I have been fighting a problem with sorting the data in a subform that is in a datasheet. It is sorting the data automatically so the entries are not in the original order. Is there a way to disable the feature so that when I put data into the datasheet it will appear in the same order that it was originally.
Anyway, I have a form that opens in datasheet view. It displays company names that exist on a client table based on a "Like" criteria the user typed into a text box. They type the word "network" in the text box, click search and a datasheet opens that has all companies that have "network" somewhere in the title. That's it. Works perfectly. We'll call this datasheet view form result "Test Query Form."
I have a second form that currently allows users to select a company from a drop down box and then populates the rest of the form with data from a table for that company. Again, works perfectly. We'll call this form "Existing Info."
I want to make a change to this second form. Rather than allow a drop down combo box for selection of the company, I want the "Test Query Form" to open the "Existing Info" form and automatically populate the form based on the company that the user double clicks on in the "Test Query Form." For instance, if I type in "network" and clicked search and got three companies with the word "network" in the company name, I want the user to double click on the second company name and have the "Existing Info" form open up with that second company on it and all the info populated for that second company.
I know this needs to be VBA code on the dblClick command for the company name cell on the "Test Query Form" but I can't quite get it to push the company name through to the "Existing Info" form.
I am new to access web databases (access 2010). I have a "web datasheet form" that shows a query of all the projects in my database (fields are ProjectID, ProjectName, Assignedto)
The assignedTo field has been populated with the sharepoint user name.I now want to automatically filter this form to only show the projects for the currentwebUser? ie. I don't want the user to have to select their name from a dropdown.Do I do it on the query or on the from that loads.?
I have a form that shows details of a record. I have a command button to open associated records in another form in DS view. My code will open the DS and show all records or filtered to specific record.
What I would like to do is use code on command button to open DS view and simply highlight (find) the record that was being viewed in the first form.
Main Form = frmBroachBase DS Form = frmBroachBaseDS
Associated fields on both forms are - [AutoID], [BroachID] - that can be used to link the two forms.
I created a split form. My main form is just a form, based off of tblBlotter. The subform is based off a query, which is the based off the same tblBlotter. (Not sure if this is proper - maybe I just need the table?)
I have a link master and link child field set to ID. When I open the form "subBlotterHistory", it opens and shows as a new record only. I want it to show ALL records on the query subform and be able to scroll up, down and edit.
