Forms :: Using Form To Update Location Change Of Inventory?

Dec 2, 2013

I have an inventory of equipment that is assigned to different locations. When repair is needed, the equipment is brought in and swapped with a loaner. How can I update on a form the location change from "A" to "Shop" that will show up on the related equipment table? I have "Location" in the table, but don't know if I need something to the effect of "NewLocation" to assist in showing the equipment swap.

Inventory By Location

Nov 8, 2006

Hi all.

I have been working on an Inventory Database over the past few weeks and I have run into a problem.

Currently I am designing the database to use the common way to calculate on-hand inventory levels (Latest Stocktake(cycle count) + Received - Used). The problem comes when I am trying to calculate this value.

A solution that seems to work is to take stocktake for a given product using the ProductID and date. I have a child table linked to this one to show the quantity and locations of the product. However, with this method, I will have to count the inventory for every location the product is in when the stocktake is taken. This method may work, but accidents may happen and an employee may forget to count both locations when taking stock. Then current inventory levels will be way off.

Is there an easier or more efficient way to do this?

Simple Inventory Update From Form

Nov 28, 2006

Hello. I'm trying to design a simple database for a bicycle recycling charity. I hit a brick wall when realising that I had never before attempted to update a record. :eek: Until now I've just used Access to add new members to a bus user's organisation.

If the shop takes delivery of 20 tyres, I need to add 20 to the current stock.

Is it possible to achieve a simple Form that adds to or subtracts a quantity from current stock, or do I have to learn some access programming?

I've looked through some textbooks and can't find a simple update solution.

Thanks for any suggestions. :o

Forms :: Update ListBox On Record Change In Form

Apr 30, 2014

I have a form with a listbox in it. I want the listbox to update as the record changes.Let me get a little more in-depth...The form will be used to identify merchandise that exists in the company to fulfill current POs.

What I want is for the listbox (which displays Store Locations) to update when the PO# updates on the form (so as the record changes).Currently, the listbox only pulls all the store locations no matter if you hit next record to get a new PO.The two main fields I am working with are PO# (text box) and Store Locations (the listbox).How can I get the listbox to update as the record changes on the form?

Forms :: Inventory - Allow Users To Update Multiple Fields For Multiple Assets

Sep 25, 2014

I want to create a form that allows users to update multiple fields for multiple assets. Below is what I came up with:

Ideally, I'd like the subform to be filled in by having the user select multiple Assets from the S/N combobox field which would then auto-populate the "Type" field. Then they would fill out the appropriate fields they want edited in the top part of the form. They hit save and magic happens. This would also be nice because only assets they want edited would be displayed (easier on the eyes) and no distinguishing would be necessary. To do it this way, I know I would need to use a temp table but I wanna avoid using temp tables.

I know I can do this by adding a Yes/No field in the "Asset" table, setting the "Asset" table as the subform's recordsource, and then putting a checkbox in the subform and allowing them to check the assets that they want to edit (which would also allow me to sort it instantly so that checked Assets are at the top of the datasheet for easy viewing), but I would like to know if there's a way of accomplishing this without the use of checkboxes.

I know I could also use a listbox and that allows them to multi-select items, but I'm not sure if that allows me to group all selected items at the top of the listbox for easy viewing of selected items. Plus it would involve a lot of scrolling (there are over 2k assets).

Forms :: Unbound Form To Make Inventory Entries?

Oct 10, 2014

I'm trying to use an unbound form to enter single inventory items to my database. As part of the function of this form, I'd like to check new items against the current inventory, and perform the function you can see in the error handling code(Which works fine). Currently, when I try to run this I get an error on the syntax of the 'FROM' clause.

Option Compare Database
Option Explicit
Private Sub btnCommit_Click()
'On Error GoTo errHandler
Dim SQL As String
SQL = " INSERT INTO [InventoryDetail]" & _

Forms :: Stock Inventory - Opening Form And Passing Data

Jan 9, 2014

I have a form that displays a stock inventory, one of the fields I use is called [ItemCode].

On the Stock_Inventory form I have 10 command buttons that open other forms to display additional product information.

These were previously sub_forms that sat in a tabbed control box within the Stock_Inventory Form but as it now takes a while for the form to load (lots of queries running each time you search for a product) users are getting slightly frustrated.

So, what I decided to do, was move each subform from the tabbed control into a new form and open that form when it is needed by the user.

OK, when I open Stock_Inventory and search for a product [ItemCode = "ABC123"] and then want to see the Sales_History, I have to open my new form, Stock_Inventory_Sales_History, within this form are two sub-forms, each subform has a field called [ItemCode].

However, when Stock_Inventory_Sales_History opens it asks me to input the parameter [ItemCode] twice, I presume this is because the Stock_Inventory_Sales_History does not have a record source and that the subforms need [ItemCode="ABC123"] to run each query and return the data.

I need to pass the [ItemCode] from the Stock_Inventory form to each of the 2 Subforms that are on the Stock_Inventory_Sales_History form automatically.

Forms :: Filter Down To Specific Categories In Inventory - Scroll Bar In Continuous Form

Sep 9, 2014

I've got a continuous form that displays my massive 3,000+ inventory, with the option to filter down to specific categories. Some categories have 5 items, others have hundreds. The design I have used makes it look really tacky once I filter down to one of the categories that has 5 items, because there is no scroll bar.

What I've tried using is:

Code:
If Me.RecordsetClone.RecordCount < 10 Then
Me.Scrollbars = 2 'vertical only
Else
Me.Scrollbars = 2
End If

But it still doesn't display correctly (nobar.png). This is probably my biggest headache right now, and every "solution" I've found, doesn't work.

Users data enter these document counts every day, click a SAVE button and those counts are saved on the table.

The next day the user wants to open the form for that day's document count for data entry, and wants the End Inventory result from yesterday's record to appear automatically prepopulated in the beginning balance data entry field on the form.

Determining A Forms Location (when Form Is Not Current)

May 31, 2005

Greetings. :)

I am trying to position opened forms so that they are cascaded on the screen. I have discovered the movesize action (for the DoCmd) and Move property of a form (for Acc 2002/2003). However, if the application is opened up on different monitors (e.g.; 17" or 19"), the relative location of the opened form is not the same (i.e.; on the bigger monitor the opened form is too far over to the right and too high).

What I want to do is ...

When the subsequent (or second) form is opened up I would like to find the absolute location of the first form (always centered). This way I will be able to reposition the second and third forms relative to the first form.

Is this possible?

I'm having trouble referencing the first form from within the second form. The first form is still open, but they are not linked forms (not parent/child). I've tried:

forms("firstformname").left
forms("firstformname").top

but this does not work.

I've gone to online help and I've looked around in the newsgroups. But can't find any info. Anybody out there will suggestions?

Regards,
SueB :confused:

General :: Update Front End With New Back End File Location

Dec 12, 2013

Access 2010

Objective?: I'm attempting to change the file location of the back end portion of my split database.

What I've done so far: I've used the linked table manager to update the back end location of all tables in the front end portion of the database.

Symptoms: When making a change to the OLD back end: If I change the name or move the old back end and then try to re-open the front end, Access opens as if I'm opening the application itself without any database associated with it until I restore the OLD back end to its appropriate state.

When making a change to the NEW back end: If I change the name or move the new Back end and then try to re-open the front end, I get a: "Could not find file" error message until I restore the new back end to it's appropriate state.

I've just discovered a query that I think put me one step closer to resolving this issue. [URL] .....

When I run this query:

Code:
SELECT MSysObjects.Database
FROM MSysObjects
GROUP BY MSysObjects.Database, MSysObjects.Type
HAVING (((MSysObjects.Type) In (4,6)));

It returns 2 results:
1. The path of my old back end
2. The path of my new back end.

Unfortunately I'm not able to update the values from the Datasheet, but this does confirm to me that the old back end is still some how being used by the front end even after my tables have all been updated.

Forms :: Use Buttons On A Form To Change Sort Order On A Continuous Form

Jul 23, 2013

I want to use buttons on a form to change the sort order on a continuous form. In the buttons click event I am using a public function (named Sort_1) to change the sort order. The first element of the event call is the name of a generic query (named Sort_1_Query1) and the query field to sort (LAST_NAME OR FRIST_NAME, depending on the button.)This is the Click Statement.

=Sort_1("Sort_1_Query1","LAST_NAME")

This is the Public Function
Public Function Sort_1(SortName As String, FieldName1 As String)
DoCmd.ApplyFilter SortName, FieldName1 & "between 'A' and 'Z'"
End Function

I think the problem is in the use of quotation marks or trying to pass the query field name to the Do Command or the use of an ampersand.

Inventory Query In Form

First I have created a query which will count by model. The SQL of that query is here:
SELECT Count(*) AS Expr1
FROM [Count Query]
WHERE ((([County Query].[Model]) Like "nnn"));

(nnn is the model number I will want and will have a diff query for each model.) Now, I'm trying to get these into a form for the boss to simply click. When I do, I get the #Name? error. What am I doing wrong here?
