Forms :: Validate Password Field Against A Value In A Table?
Aug 7, 2015
Access 2007 / I'm creating a database form that has a combo box drop down pulling EmployeeName and a free text field to enter a password. I need the password entry validated against the password stored in a column on the same row as the Employee Name selected from the combo box when a button is clicked. . IF, that value is validated, I need the button click to also record a "time in" or "clock in" entry in a different table.how to validate the password.
I'm new to access vba and I'm trying to create a login form. I have already my code to login but i want to validate the password in 'case sensitive' basis. Below is only what I've got so far.
Code: Private Sub cmdLogin_Click() Dim login_validation As Variant login_validation = DLookup("Password", "tblLogin", "Username='" & Nz(txtUsername.Value, "") & "'") If Nz(login_validation, "") <> Nz([txtPassword].Value, "") Then MsgBox "Incorrect Password. Please try again." txtUsername.Value = "" txtPassword.Value = "" txtUsername.SetFocus Else MsgBox "Hi " & txtUsername.Value & "," & vbNewLine & vbNewLine & "you have successfully login!" DoCmd.OpenForm "frmMain" End If End Sub
i have found a code that brings up a box when tab or clicking in to a box for editing as below:-
Dim strPassword As String If InputBox("Please enter the password:") <> strPassword Then SomeOtherControl.SetFocus TextBox1.Locked = True End If
its just that need to add a password as well, i have tried to put this in between the <> but this does not work. i would like a message to say incorrect password as well if possable.
I am trying to deny users from logging on from multiple pc's. Here is how i've got it so far, created table tblLoginLock with fields EmpID and LoggedIn both numberical data type created a form to set the Empid with tempvar!TempEmpId and LoggedIn as 1 when a user logs in.When he clicks the logOff button he is signed out and a form opens up and closes to set the LoggedIn field to 0.Now whenever a user is signed the LoggedIn Field is checked with this expression
if there is a one then the user is logged in the condtion is met and a message box pops up to warn the user that he is already logged in.
The above code does not check the specific TempVar to the LoggedIn field, the LoggedIn field is randomly checked for a '1' meaning if there is a '1' anywhere in the table then the condition is met and the user denied. how can i set the condition to validate the logged in user to the LoggedIn field.
I have a form that contains two text fields i.e.; [Scat_text] and [STyp], which each can be changed by the users. I would like to combine the results of the two fields together and validate if the results exists in a query. What would be the best way to accomplish this?
I have a continuous subform that displays lots of questions. This specific form has 10 questions on it. Each question has one answer and the users are required to select one answer for each question. I am trying to do some data validation before the data gets saved to my table to ensure that users have answered all the questions. I found some very useful code online and tweaked it to suit my needs. The validation works perfectly on subforms with only one question, as I have some other tabs that use it.
On the specific form that has the issue, the validation works as expected when no question has been answered, but when a user answers only one question and leaves the remaining nine questions blank, the validation does not work. I guess it is as a result of the continuous form repeating the different questions and ms access thinking that the data entered for one question alone is complete when it actually isn't.
Code: Private Sub Ctl4_frm_Staff_Exit(Cancel As Integer) Dim ctrl As Control, EmptyStr$ For Each ctrl In Form_subFrm_staffQuestion.Controls If InStr(1, ctrl.Tag, "Required") > 0 Then If IsNull(ctrl.Value) Or ctrl.Value = vbNullString Or Len(ctrl.Value) = 0 Then
I have a form I would like to validate input on. The field UpdatedResponsibilityCode can be updated but it can only have certain values based on the PaymentResponsibilityCode. Is there a way to force this validation?
If UpdatedResponsibilityCode = 4 then PaymentResponsibilityID can not equal 1
i would like some help on how to validate a user's entry in a form. i have a query that calculates number of hours remaining for a particular customer. when a user submits the number of hours used on the form, i want to check that this value does not exceed the number of hours they have remaining. and display a message box if they dont have enough hours remaining. any suggestions on how best to do this? the query has a where statement like 'WHERE customer = customer_code' so customer_code is entered by the user. how do i set this so that the value for customer_code is taken from a field on the form?
I've done some looking into how to validate in Access and I found how to do it for an entire field but I was wondering if it's possible to validate a single record in a field.
I have a field that contains an input mask : 99/99/00 99:00;0;_ this allows the user to enter a date and time in one field. Such as 04/24/13 15:00 . I want to put validation on that field, so that the user can't enter a time that does not exist such as "25:30" or a date that hasn't happened yet. How to accomplish that? The data is going into a linked SQL table so I'm limited on what I can do on the table end I think.
I have a login button in which if the username has an empty password or the user is his/her first time to login, another form will appear which is the Set New Password. How can I change the password of that current user, my Set New Password Form has two fields which is 'txtSetPassword1' and 'txtSetPassword2' and an OK button.
The user must enter a new password and a verification password, if the 2 fields matched, the new password entered will change the password in the table. The table name is 'tbl_UsernamesQry'.
I have done it but the main problem is, it changes the other's users password not the current user.
Here is my code for the OK button of that form Set New Password:
Private Sub btnSetOk_Click() If Me.txtSetPassword1.Value = Me.txtSetPassword2.Value Then Me.txtSetPassword1.SetFocus
I am building a very comprehensive Membership Management Database with extremely useful facilities initiated by some 20 or 25 Queries..
The database includes 5 Tables which store data relevant to members, another which stores details of Interest Groups and a 3rd which stores which members are affiliated to which Group or Groups.
Currently the database is accessible only by a very limited number of persons and data can be entered/edited by only one person. The database, using Access 2010, is maintained on a desktop computer and synchronized to a copy on a Cloud.
My requirement is to permit some 50 Group Leaders to input/edit data on a Password protected Group Members Form such that that is the only element of the database that they can access. The Forms would have only 2 fields from which the user would select entries from drop down lists.
My query is ; is such a procedure feasible in principle and would I be correct in assuming that the user would require to have available a copy of Access.
I have recently split my database and added a password to the back end. I am now trying to re-link the tables as I have seen in other threads, but when I do this I am not prompted for the password I just get the message 'Not a valid password'
I must obviously be doing something wrong, can anyone help?
hi, i am currently working on a computing project using access 2003, and i am not very familiar with VBA. At the moment, i have designed a simple logging-in form (with a function that checks the password typed in for a username (selected from a combo box) against the password value stored in a table Is there a function in visual basic access where each time a user logs in, the date (and date) is recorded into the table where the user details and passwords are stored?
Hey all, For securing a database, is it possible to set a certain password for users to view just one table? like i've lots of tables in my d.b that i plan to use a workgroup file for different users to view it, but there's one that i only want certain people to access...can this be done at all??
Firstly thank you for your help, this should be a simple one I hope, but is cracking my head on the wall. Have searched and searched and can't find an answer.
I have an Access Db that is not password protected, but is asking for a password. It opens on any other machine fine?
I think my version of Access is playing funny buggers with me, any suggestions?
I was trying to implement some security on this Db, which is why it happened I'm sure. I ran the security wizard, set-up two users and admin with passwords, I have the output file to "recreate" something too.
Issue is, I then copied this Db to another computer for use on there, it worked without a Password, so didn't need to worry about it, now I can't open any Db on my machine??
I have a query that I am sending as a spreadsheet to various service technicians listing parts that they need to take inventory of. Then, after they take the inventory, they send the spreadsheet back to me and I upload their counts back into my database. Right now, my query contains the Bin number, part number, part description, and a blank column for the technician's count. I have just learned, that the company does not want the Bin number to be visible in the report. In order to upload the technician counts into the database when they return the spreadsheet, I need to be able to reference the Bin number to get the count on the right line.
Is there something that I can do so that the Bin number will be visible in the report when the database reads it, but not to the technician?
The only solution I could think of was to format the Bin Number as a password. Unfortunately, I can't get that to work in the query results. If I save the bin number as a password in the table, is there a way to make it visible on reports for internal use (so the people in headquarters who are responsible for over all inventory can still see each bin number)? I found how to hide the field in the query results. However, when I send the results to the technician, the field is not there at all.
