Forms :: Variable Number Of Instances Of A Subform
Dec 8, 2014
I have a subform that formats the data in a record in a particular 2D way. I want to use it a variable number of times on a single form. Is there any way to do that? I've tried using CreateControl, but access just says it can't add the controls I've requested -- with no reason given, of course.
I am creating a 2 level report to confirm an order. Main report already created, runs successfully called as subform/subreport under "OrderDetails" form. Linked to master using Order.ID. There are two versions of the confirmation report that have different layouts for different program types.
The hangup comes when I try to add a "Class Dates" subreport. It lists dates of individual classes and Skip dates. I have created the subreport as "srClassDates". When I add it to the main report, it lists the records. However, when I try to link it to the Main report, an error message box appears with the "object variable or With block variable not set".
I have tried rebuilding both the main and subreports, rebuilt the query, have not found anything that changes the result.
Linker has been working successfully on other subforms. Report with groupings works fine, but I need data from 2 tables both linked to order.id.
I've come across an interesting problem a colleague has been trying to solve and even though I can 'see' what needs to be done and could probably program it on our mainframe, I'm really stuck on how to achieve the same results in MS Access
I'll do my best to explain the problem by showing an example of how the data exists in the DB and also how it 'should' be output on a report.
DATE OPERATOR COUNT
29/06/06 - Oper A - 32 29/06/06 - Oper B - 12 29/06/06 - Oper A - 10 29/06/06 - Oper C - 13 29/06/06 - Oper B - 10
The output needed however should read as follows
29/06/06 - Oper A - 42 29/06/06 - Oper B - 22 29/06/06 - Oper C - 13
Setting up a date selection shouldn't be a problem, its just adding the totals on each instance of each operator into one figure without ending up with a total of the number of times an operator appears on a date.
Any help and guidance about how best to approach this problem (macro/query/script) would be appreciated.
The thing I've been trying to do is make it so that my form filters my records, and I'm trying to make a between function for it. My form is shown below in the attachment.
What I need to do is make it so that my form filters my records Between the two year boxes AND between the two Length boxes. But I need it so that if nothing is in the boxes, it shows all records, and if something is in only the Year boxes, it only filters the years and not the lengths.
Code: Field: Length Criteria: Between [Forms]![SearchForm]![Length1] And [Forms]![SearchForm]![Length2]
Then in a separate column I had
Code: Field: [Forms]![SearchForm]![Length1] Or: Is Null
This works fine if it's only for Length, but if I try to do the same for the MovieYear boxes, it screws up and just shows me no records...?
After creating multiple instances of a form how should they be closed so as to ensure that all of their assets are disposed of and there are no memory leaks? DoCmd.Close seems not to work because it expects a name string which would be the same for all instances of the form.
Since a form's name is a read only property it cannot be modified when the form is created so it doesn't uniquely identify a particular form instance. I've tried setting the form reference to Nothing which appears to work, but I'm not sure whether this is the correct technique and whether it disposes of everything cleanly.
We have a form that will have one combo box for Associates (like Employee in the OPs DB) which I've got set to show only active Associates for new entry per the tips in the above thread, but we'll also have a combo box for Developer which I need to function the same way. I don't know how to add that part to the On Current event?
Code: Private Sub Form_Current() Dim strComboRowSource As String If Me.NewRecord Then strComboRowSource = "SELECT T_Associates.AssociateID, T_Associates.Associate, T_Associates.Active " & _ "FROM T_Associates " & _ "WHERE (((T_Associates.Active)=True));"
I needed to change the decimal symbol from a dot to comma for use in Europe. On changing the the settings to a comma everything works fine but for the field that I have the code in the AfterUpdate properties
Private Sub SprayCfuelC_AfterUpdate() Me.Dirty = False CurrentDb.Execute ("UPDATE ProcessData SET ProcessData.SprayCFuelC =" & Me.SprayCfuelC & " WHERE (((ProcessData.AuditNo)=" & Parent.[AuditNo] & "));") Me.Recalc End Sub
Now when the data is changed I get a run time error 3144 - syntax error in UPDATE statement.
I have a main form [frmZone] and a sub form (single form) [fromZoneSub] linked master/child by [ZoneID]
If there are, say, 5 related sub form records I'm trying to get a label [LabelCount] on the sub form to say "1 of 5" and as you click through the sub form for the label to change "2 of 5", then "3 of 5" etc....basically letting the user know how many records there are and as they click to the next record know which record they're on.
I am looking for a way to limit the number of rows that are added to the subform of a main form. Is there anyway that the allowable number of rows be defined using a field on the main form.
I have a continuous subform. Because the records are often many, the user needs to scroll down the page.
How do I have a text box in each row that shows Record x of Total Records?
I tried setting a text box control source = [currentrecord] in the Detail area of the subform but it didn't work . It did weird things because I suspect the control is trying to show the record that has the focus or something
I have an on click event that checks if entered number values on my first tabbed subform are not null. I then pass the values to three other fields each on a different tabbed subform using If Then Else syntax that seems to work. When I click through the tabs after the code has finished I can see the updated values on their respective tabbed subforms. However, when I click back through the tabs or requery the record all but the first and last subform values have saved.
I have tried inserting If Me.Dirty Then Me.Dirty = False in the subform after update and on data change events as well as in the on click event. I have also tried RunCommand acCmdSaveRecord and neither seems to work.
Ex. If IsNull(Me.AMT1_AF) Then Else Forms![SCH_ENTRY]![ENT1subform]![AMT1] = Me.AMT1_AF End If If IsNull(Me.AMT2_AF) Then
1. Which event occurs when anything changes on subform (Delete row , add row , perform the sort, Especially when you add a row to be inserted in the current sorting between the rows)
2. I have column sequential number that need updating when occurs any event on subform
3. "On current" is event that occurs always when changing rows in subform, how to process rows sequential (row by row) thru subform and update field that represent sequential number.
I have an access form that displays some data about customers and their booking for flight. so lets say if there is a group of five people that made a booking for a certain flight, i have to assign ticket numbers to them and store it in some table.
Now i can display the number of people in a group for a certain flight in a subform, i want to have another textbox in front of their names so i can type in the ticket numbers. So i went to design view and added another textbox, but the problem is if the subform in displaying 5 rows (for 5 customers) when i type in a ticket number for one customer, all the following rows gets and displays the same ticket number. How can i type something and let it not be repeated infollowing rows.
I am trying to count the number of records in a subform where the text box (txtFinal) = RPR-RPR & RTN. The subform is called PartNumbers. The table name the subform is bound to is named Completed.
I tried using =DCount("[Part Number]","Completed","[Final] = 'RPR-RPR & RTN'"). That is counting the total number of records in the table, not the total number of records in the subform. How do I get it to count the total number of records in the subform?
All; using 2010. How can I get a subform to grow or shrink based on num of records returned? Its a continuous subform. Tried changing Vertical and Horizontal Anchors as well as some VBA suggestions but havent been able to make any of them work.
Which continues as is for 10 or 11 queries named in a similar pattern, then prints a report. However, as the number of append queries is not set (they are generated in a different quantity for different purposes, it's complicated), I am not sure how to check how many there are with that style of name.
I need to extract a specific number of records into a table using a MakeTable or Append command using a temp variable, e.g. TempK&SA. Previously on the forum I was shown how code could be added to the OnOpen function to use a temp variable to select a specific number of records to report. ACCESS does not have the OnOpen function in the design view of a query like in the report. It does allow a SELECT TOP but only with fixed variables or percents (e.g. 25 in the code below).
The beginning code for the make table query (where 25 is the number of records added) is:
INSERT INTO [Output] ( RndNo, PointBiserial, BloomsTax, DateRevised, Exam1, Status, Exam2, Exam3, Exam4, [NCCPAKnowledge&Skills] ) SELECT TOP 25 TestBank.RndNo, TestBank.PointBiserial, TestBank.BloomsTax, TestBank.DateRevised, TestBank.Exam1, TestBank.Status, TestBank.Exam2, TestBank.Exam3, TestBank.Exam4, TestBank.[NCCPAKnowledge&Skills], * FROM TestBank WHERE (((TestBank.PointBiserial) Is Null Or (TestBank.PointBiserial) Between [TempVars]![TempPointBiserialLow] And .....
how to modify the code to allow a temp variable to determine the number of records to append to another table would be gratefully received. (This process then is repeated for a total of 7 append tables with different temp variables.)
I have a parent form which has a class variable (class module instance) to store the form' status and more.... and when i add a new record to the subform it resets the class variable field' data. but this only happens on first transaction, but if i re-run the steps (re-set the variable field value) it's not happening again.
I am using a template database that I downloaded from the Microsoft Access template website and have been modifying it and adding new forms and tables etc. I have used the forms wizard to create a number of new forms to edit a number of the tables. The forms are "split forms".I can't seem to get many of the forms to stay the size that I set them to! They seem to have a mind of their own and often when I think that I have sized them correctly, I then open the form and they display in full screen mode or larger!
I am fixing a database that was previously built. It is use to show listings of items for sale. There is a form that displays all of the information about a particular listing, each with its own id code.
If I want to email a particular item and info to an email address i can, but i can only send one at a time. I click a button which then asks what format to save the report, i choose html, then it opens a new email message from Outlook and sets the file as an attatchment.
The problem is, i want to be able to send more than one listing at a time in the same email. But once the first listing is created and attatched i have to send that one before i can send another listing.
Hi, I would like to recreate a record locking problem (error # 3218) our users are experiencing on an application we have developed. I currently do not have access to a network, so I would like to run multiple instances of Access on one machine. How do I do that?
I have a very elaborate Access 2000 application that uses three different SQL databases as the back end. Mostly the data is modified or selected via ADO connections.
The problem I am having is that recently users on Terminal Server are not able to open the application because for some reason the application is not allowing more than one copy of it to be opened at once. I checked everywhere and couldn't find anything that would not allow multiple instances but couldn't find anything.
Any ideas on what could be causing this? Any help is greatly appreciated
Sorry to come to you with this one but my sql is terrible......
I have a recordset named Leave reason. Its numerical and can cover some 20 differing numbers. These are not always sequential.
Ive tried a crosstab - not good enough, Ive tried a form with =Count(IIf([Leave reason]=9,0)) in it, this works, but, it requires a text box for every possible number that could occur! To labour intensive that.
So the bottom line is is there a small piece of sql that I can add in to the queries sql view to handle this issue, if there is can someone just lay down the code (yes I know Its naughty to ask) so Ill learn and be able to do it in some 30 other queries of the same nature.
Is there a way to allow Access to open a second (or thrid...) copy of a form? We need this so we can visually compare the contents for record one with the contents of record two.
I have a table called providers with the following 3 fields:
Provider ID Cancellation Reason Visit ID Date
It is possible to have multiple instances of the same provider ID, cancellation reason and visit ID on the same date. I'm trying to count just 1 instance based on visit ID if there are multiple instances of the visit ID and reason on the same date. Select distinct doesn't seem to do the trick.
