Forms :: WithEvents And Form Class For All Forms

Okay, I'm sick of designing forms whereby I have to go through their individual settings and set things like PopUp to True or RecordSelectors to False. Therefore I want to create a form class that, in the Form_Open event will do all that form me for every form.So, I've got a class called AppForm.

ThisApp is just another class, dealing with database application stuff, like Name, version, etc. Now, how do we go about assigning the form to the class as the first event triggered for a form is OnOpen, which is what I want to replace with the OnOpen in the AppForm class? I guess there must be a way by adding all the database's form collection to a collection object at start-up so that the class will work.

Forms :: Creating A Class Roster From Combo Box

I have a form that the Training Admin will use to select students to a new class.they select the Class Name from a ComboBox tied to TblClass.they select an Instructor from a ComboBox tied to TblInstructor and then, I am trying to to use some method to select students by identifying information (EmplID, LName, FNAme, MName, EMP# from TblEmployee) one at a time (from a combo box, or some other easy select method) that will pass the students information to a list, viewable and editable (remove a name) before it is committed to a TblCompletedTraining

I looked at a cascading combo-boxes, and that looks like a good method to selecting from the large number of employees in TblEmployee, but I am unsure how to store each selection on the form, and then allow the Training Admin the ability to delete members from the pool prior to committing. I am reluctant to use the multivalue field as a solution for a couple of reasons;

- It explicitly states to be used for relatively short lists only (no value limit given; so I assume 100 or less items)
- will probably need to convert this database sometime in the future.

I thought I had figured this out, by using a combo-box selection to generate a filter, but it leaves me with only one selection in the end..

Modules & VBA :: Collections Class On Continuous Forms

Any way to make objects to support adjusting continuous form controls making them unique in a sense to be able to change info like captions or whatever.

I've been working with collections for a while now tapping into event handlers such as the mouse inputs and or sizing of objects real time using collections but I can't seem to nail down any un-documented way to serialize controls on a continuos form.

I have tried when the new user creates the record adding another control to the collections class tying it to the id of the record but still this does not seem to be enough.

I do not know if there is a paint method or something of the sort I can override to get the desired results and most people without even trying will tell you this can't be done but how many have said that you can't move and resize objects in access but we are doing that now...

Forms :: Employee Training Database - Generate A Class Roster?

I am building a database for employee training. In the FrmNewTrainingGroup I am trying to create a form that will allow selection of a single class, a completion date, one or more instructors (or none at all) and a list of students by LName, FName, MI, EMP#. in my latest attempt, I have tried using a query of the TblEmployee to act as a go between, and dropped a subform into the FrmNewTrainingGroup, and that is not working.

Trying to get the student roster to work has been frustrating. I have been attempting to make it a check box select list that is also searchable by LName and FName [which would perhaps display a reduced list of names, as the name was typed?. This list would update a class roster text box to reflect all the selected employees for training so far, prior to the class being committed (I am planning on a button on the form).

I continually receive a runtime error 1004 " unable to get tick labels property of the axis class"

if I remove this code, then I error on the following code:

searched this forum and found:

If your chart is in a form (or report), you have to:

1) refer to the form (or report) name (Form_Charts)

2) refer to the name of the object frame holding your chart (.Graph1)

3) refer to the object within the frame (.Object)

4) refer to the application that created the object (.Application)

5) refer to the actual chart itself (.Chart)

6) refer to the axes collection and select the axis you want to reference - in this case the category, or X-axis (.Axes(xlCategory))

I made the assumption, that I would just replace xlCategory with xlValue for the Y-axis. So I'm back to:

Looked in the Microsoft Graph Visual Basic Reference and it indicated:

"Tick-mark label text for the value axis is calculated based on the MajorUnit, MinimumScale, and MaximumScale properties of the value axis. To change the tick-mark label text for the value axis, you must change the values of these properties."

I reset my code to call these 2 functions prior to changing the number format.....

Class Payments Form - First Record Value Changing

I have built a simple database for a dance school.

The junction table that handles enrollments is behaving a bit weird.

I have a form that deals with class payments. This is linked to the enrollments table via datasheet.

When i refresh the datasheet (which is embedded in a form) after a payment the first record in the enrollments table changes its value.

Effectively the first student changes to whatever class i am currently viewing.

Forms :: Continuous Forms - Looping Through Records / Manipulating Fields On Form

I have a bound continuous tabular form,However, based on data content in one field of a record, I want a checkbox in the same record enabled, so the user can check it if necessary. I have created a record set using the form as shown below, and I am looping through each record. To show that my code is referring to the field with required data content, I display it as a message box and it works, yet my checkbox does not enable.

I have the code in the form_load event, however, for testing purposes I have it behind a button.If I am seeing this properly, the code behind the button enables the checkbox for ALL records once the criteria in the required field is true, and based on the last record, which has no data content, it disables the checkbox in ALL records. I also have the PK ID for each record hidden in the form. Can I utilize that to target the checkbox of each individual record??

-Form does not allow additions or deletions. Edits allowed
-All fields are disabled and locked
-I only want the check box to unlock if data is found in the "RequiredField" as referred to below. I have also tried if not isNull(requiredfield.value) then -enable checkbox, which yields the same results

I need to pull the calculated values from approximately 10 forms into another form. This is a summary form that should have all the totals pulled from the other forms.e.g. Form A has a textbox that reflects the sum of the amount. This is the total balance of form A.Form B, Form C, etc. all have a total Balance.Now, i need to pull all these totals into a summary form

-Form A Total Balance: x
-Form B Total balance: y, and so forth.

How and what is the best method to approach?I have tried using Forms![Formname]![Total] to get the data. This necessitates the need to hide all these forms and I ended up with blank forms, etc.Even so, the total sometimes appear and sometimes it does not. so it is very unstable.

I have a form "NewMetalF" that has three combo boxes. The first one is used to choose "Precious Metal" or "Base Metal". The second one shows all the metals based on the first combo box. When I open the form in form view alone the combo boxes work flawlessly. I run the form "NewMetalF" within another form "NewExternalPartF" by clicking a button "AddMetal". When the button is clicked "NewMetalF" opens. The first combo box is selected, and when the second combo box is clicked the error "Enter Paramater Value" "Forms!NewMetalF!cboPreciousOrBase".

New to the navigation form: I need several forms in the navigation form to all relate to the same client ID field. I have this information on the main form but the form with in the navigation form will not pick it up.

I have tried =[Forms]![Frm Client Information Navigation Panel]![ClientID] But just cant get it to pick up that information...

I would like to have something like the master link fields and, child link fields but when I add a form to the navigation form this option in not available.

Forms :: Access Form With Tab Control Pages Each With Embedded Forms

I have an access form with tab control pages each with embedded forms.In one page I have a list of records as a datasheet form with the record identifier field configured as a hyperlink. When I click on this it passes its value to a form field in the form in the following tab page (works without the hyperlink but its a useful way of highlighting which field to click) which is a display/edit form of the details of the individual record. The Subroutine which does this sets the focus on this field it is passing the value to on the other form and the 'On Got Focus' event in that triggers the query that fills the editor form.

When I click back on the following tab to select another record to view/edit, the identifier value of the other record is passed to the other form but the data displayed in the rest form doesn't change. I understand this is because the field with the 'On Got Focus' never lost focus and so the query function was not called. To correct this I tried adding the same function call to the 'On Change' event however this does not work (the field is a text box set to 'locked' if that is relevant).I can get the form to do a new query properly if I click on a different field in the form before going back to the list tab or (as this is removing the focus allowing the On Got Focus to work again) if I click on a button to select a different record (which just takes me back to the list form).

Is there any way I can get this to work without having to manually remove the focus from the problem field? I have tried setting its On Got Focus event to move the focus to another field after the query function call however this prevents the Setfocus line in the code in the previous form from working. Here is a snippet of my code below.This code is for the list form and passes a value to the editing form:

Forms :: Navigation Form - Using DB Forms Under Its Subform Control

I am attempting to create a Navigation Form to allow another computer in my network to be able to utilize necessary forms within a database (through RunTime). I was hoping this would be a clean task by simply loading the forms into the tabs of the Navigation Form, however that is clearly not the case.

For starters, When attempting to use a form that has some VBA behind it (Docmd.ApplyFilter based on a selection from a combo box), I am given the error stating: "The action or method is invalid because the form or report isn't bound to a table or query."

After searching on this error, I believe it's because my Navigation Form does not have a record source. If this is the case, then I am confused as to what record source it should have, as with the 3 forms I need to access through the Navigation Form all pull data between various tables and queries within the database (some not related).

Now I've also come to the conclusion that my VBA references now must change in order to correctly use my forms. A correct reference would look something like:[Forms]![Navigation Form]![NavigationSubform].[Form].[My Form's Control]..Is this necessary in order to write any events, such as an AfterUpdate on a combo box?

I made a form for our office to search data through our MS Access database. It was a big hit, and people started using it. Then came another request to make a new form - to search through another few tables. This was a big hit too.

The same process repeated and now I am stuck with 3 different forms, each with it's separate code and selection options.

How can I combine all of them into one and have 3 different tabs for the 3 existing forms without losing all the coding and software flow that I have already created?

Forms :: Pop Up Form To Requery Two Other Forms

I new to this form and to access and hope to find an answer to my problem.

I have 3 tables and 3 forms

Table 1 - Form 1 --- Psych Patients
Table 2 - Form 2 --- Med patients.
Table 3 - Form 3 --- Primary Doctors.

Each form has a combo box with a list of Primary Doctors. If doctor is not in the list then we have the option to enter new information via Pop up form (form 3). At close the Pop up form requerys the cbo box.

Is there a way to use Form 3 (pop-up form) to re-query both forms at the same time even if only one of the forms is open?

FYI, Table 1 and Table 2 contain different information and the only thing both table have in common is the primary doctors.

As of now my code in the pop Up is:

Showing Grades Of Students In A Class?!?!

Hello,

I can't quite get my head around this - any help is much appreciated.

I have (amongst others):

tblStudents (containing basic info. name etc)
tblClasses (containing a list of studentIDs with classes they are in, so, for example, there may be 3 entries of studentid "1", each with different classes next to them, to show that studentid 1 is in classes: a b and c for example.
tblGrades (containing studentID and masses of fields with different grades for different subjects in.)




What I would like to do, is select the class name from a list (which I can do, no problem).
Open up a form listing all the students in that class, with all their grades next to them.

This SOUNDS simple - but I don't think it really is! I could just be having a VERY simple moment though too - if so, I apologise!

Class, Sessions, Attendees, What Is The Relationship?

After long, long, long hiatus of doing other stuff, I wanted to get around to update the database. One thing I had set up wrong was the attendance rosters.I just need to be able to create a new class, which may have more than one sessions, then make a list of registrants for a particular class, then be able to track their attendance per session for this class.However, my Google-Fu is lacking as every templates I've looked at doesn't really answer my question, which how three entities relate to each other.I know for sure that Class-Attendees is a one many relationship. Same attendee can register for more than one class, so that's no brainer. Likewise, Class-Session should be also be one many relationship for obvious reasons. However, if I relate Session to Attendee, it would create a circular relationship between the three entities. I've toyed with the idea of having a hierarchial tables of Class -> Attendees -> Sessions, but that does not relate the sessions to the class, which is necessary. I wonder if I should create a fourth table to contain attendances and use Session and Attendees as FK, but that still wouldn't fix the possiblity of a circular relationship?Any insights will be greatly appreciated. I get the message "The expression On Click you entered as the event property setting produced the following error: Class does not support Automation or does not support expected interface"

I receive the message on a PC running Windows 7 Professional using the Access 2013 Runtime. This pc does not have Access 2013 installed.On my pc, I do not get the error. I have Access 2013 installed and run Windows 7 Professional SP1. The "code" which gives the error is as follows and is invoked by clicking a button on a form

The error takes place after Msgbox "2" and before Msgbox "3".The strange thing is that I can run without a problem a sophisticated software package on the pc which gives the error, using Access 2013 Runtime. This package I converted from Access 2003.

Object Or Class Not Supporting Set Of Events

This is the error I'm getting. A little obscure, I know, but this is happening in an executable Access application (2010 accde) when I click the close button on a form.

The code behind the form is checking a lot of stuff (data validation, etc.), but "Object or class does not support the set of events" is the error. Then the application continues as if nothing had happened.

The app was converted not long ago from XP ACC2003 to Win 7 ACC2007-2010.
