Forms :: Text Box Not Listening To Instructions
Apr 2, 2014I have set an on click for a combo box to update a text box, the problem is the textbox lags and doesnt display the right information in the box until i either click onto the text box or refresh the screen..I only have one event procedure attached to the combo box

Moving Instructions In Unbound Text Box On The Form
Oct 9, 2005I need to display some of the insruction lines in unbound / bound text box that will gradually moves up.
Example :
"This multiuser client server db is licenced to "ABC & Co.". This sofrware is to reduce cost of production and it increases speed of your production process more...."
These instruction lines may be arojnd 10-15 lines. I need to display it as non-stop moving up text massages on the main form once the data base is opened.
Is this possible? How?

Aug 11, 2015I have my application split, BE and FE. This is a form with a subform.For both I have the properties set to
Data Entry NO
Allow additions NO
Allow Deletions NO
Allow Edits NO
anyone person can open the form, but when a second person tries to open the same form we get the standard, locked by user or user does not have permission.If user 1 logs out then user 2 can get in. So it seems not a permission issue but some setting I have wrong. maybe at the query or table level?

Form 1 shows list of received letters Form 2 shows list of send letters Now database has been splitted and back end is on the shared drive and front end there is on each computer and myself and other users have read/write access to the shared drive and me and other users can see all the records. .Now I would like to add something like a check box field to the forms. When I tick the check box for each record other users cannot see that record on the form.

Aug 13, 2014i have a pop up form that users need to fill up whenever they need to Add New Records. everything is working fine. BUT, what should i do that in the next time the user will click the Add New Records it will not show the previous items that have been added? since it is added in the Main Form already, no need to show in the pop up Form again once they wanted to add new records. Once they are still in the pop up form, they can see the newly added items BUT once they exit the pop up form, they cant see those items anymore in that form instead it is in the Main Form already.

May 1, 2013I have created a profiling form for my school. Each boy can access his form using his admission number ( Adno) which is the primary key. On the form are lots of sub forms - for things like favourite authors, clubs, teams played in etc - but these don't have a primary key ( as they are automatically linked to the Adno via the main form ). Unfortunately when several boys are filling in their own forms at the same time I keep getting error messages, one says that the data can't be updated and another says that there is a primary key problem.

Forms :: Recordset Filters From One User Affecting All Users On A Form?
Jul 10, 2013Here is the environment:
Currently, I have 10 Users running a front end form that connect to back end data where they add to current records and eventually check that the record is complete.
I also have an "Apply Filter" button on the right hand side of the form that allows the user to apply filters to the records to show specific data that is not complete.
I am currently hearing that while the user is working, whether they apply filter or not, it seems as though all of a sudden, all of their completed work dissapears from their recordset hence not allowing them to go back to make changes to it if needed. I can only conclude that when a different user clicks apply filter, all users are affect some how... here are some examples of the code for the filter:

Clear Displayed Memobox Instructions

I'm new at this, but here goes. I have a memobox on a form that I set the DefaultValue to display instructions for what to enter in the memobox. I would like these instructions to be visible until the user clicks or tabs into the box. Then I would like these instructions to disappear when the user begins to type something in. I've tried using several different event scenarios, but none does exactly what I want. I don't want to use a control tip as it won't appear until the user actually enters the memobox and I want the instructions to be visible before that time. However, this is what I've done at this point because I haven't been able to fiqure out how else to do what I want to do.
Any help would be appreciated; I'm sure this is something very simple for all of you, but I've spent several hours trying to work my way through this.

May 21, 2007I've created a database which works fine and i've tested it extensively on my machine. It is saved on a network drive which other users have access to. I've added a simple security log-in procedure (which I picked up from a sample posted on here) which only determines what buttons the different users can see on the switchboard which takes them to the different areas of the database. The problem I now have is some of the forms aren't opening.
Other Users who try and go into the forms that they have access to - even some of the generic ones cant open the actual forms as it crashes and comes up with the generic error message - "Microsoft Access has encountered a problem and needs to close".
I cant understand why this is happening. The security measures are only linked to the main switchboard and it works fine as it opens up all the other relevant switchboards as required. It's just certain forms on the other switchboards that refuse to open. I hope I have described my problem adequately and someone has encountered it somewhere or knows what I'm talking about and can help. Please let me know if you need further clarification.
Multiple Users And Forms
Mar 17, 2008Hi, very new to access and chucked in at the deep end.
we require a database which will be used by multiple users to place orders.
the users are at different locations although they all log on via terminal services so connection issues are minimal.
i understand that we require a fe/be database because of the users.
the users will only work with forms and reports. they should not be allowed to see the other users orders and the form needs to automatically put the users id into the order.
the only way i can see to achieve this is to make a custom form up for each location. would i be right in assuming this?
if so, how would i prevent one location from opening up another locations form? infact, i wouldn't want one location to know that there are other forms for other locations.
any help would be appreciated. thanks

I have a table of users somthing like this:
User_ID
Name
Hobby
Favorite_Food
Blah
Blah
Blah
Users can be friends with one another and I need some way of logging this.
My 2 options (that i can see) are:
1) Putting a friends entry in the main user table then comma delimiting the User_ID's in the friend entry like so:
User_ID: 001
Name: John
Hobby: Frizbee
Favorite_Food: Cake
Friends: 002,004,010
2) Making a seperate table with multiple entries for each user like so:
User: 001
Friend 002
---
User: 001
Friend: 004
---
User: 001
Friend: 010
---
User: 002
Friend: 001
---
User: 004
Friend: 001
---
User: 010
Friend: 001
---
The database has to be handled by a web service and/or a web appliction making the comma delimited option occupy more server time breaking down the string into usable user_ID's.
But (and this is probably my actual problem) if i was to impliment my second idea, I'm not sure what I should make the tables primary key or the best way to relate it to the main user table.
My initial thought is to just have a, technicaly useless, ID be the primary key and impliment a one(User) to many(friends entries) relationship... but im a bit of an access n00b so thought i better come ask for some advice.

Say, a user login my ms access and don't logout from database and he don't do anything in ms access. I want automatically logout from ms access after a certain time he is idle.

Hidding Tables, Queries, Forms, From Users
Dec 7, 2004Hi. I manage to create Users and permissions with no big problem.
But before do that, i thought that when i created those permissions some of the users which they will
work for, they will not have even a view of TABLES QUERIES FORMS e.t.c
How i can hide that from them?
I did that by Properties and set the option button to Hidden, but imagine if you have 50 to do that.
Then if i go back to do some modifications then is necessary to unhide in order to check.
Is another easiest way of prohibiting users to view.

Users Unable To Access New Forms/tables
Aug 1, 2005I enabled security on an .mdb which included several users that are in the Full Data Users group. After I did this I needed to add a new form to the application, so I logged into the application and added it. However, though the admin group and the Full Permissions group can access it fine, the Full Data Users group cannot. I have double checked all of the settings and have even rebuilt the .mdw file to no avail. Any thoughts?

Jan 6, 2015I have set up a split database and it seems to work perfectly. I have created a report on each users FE and this works fine. It inputs their own contact details on the report. This was done manually before sending the FE to the user just using ="text here" in the design of the form.
What I want to do is add an extra field to the table (and link to this via the form each user has) and have this populated automatically with the users name.This is so we can see at a glance which user added which record.
Is there a way to have this happen or would it be a case of having to pick your own username from a combo box? Can I do something with each users FE form which will add their name when they add a record?

Aug 4, 2015My database is tracking Job/Project information. The users must assign the Job Contacts which can be both internal and external (ie: Contracts is a Client Contact, while Engineer is an Internal position)..
tblContactTypes which defines each of the 10 types of job contacts.

The Job Specific data is stored in tblJob_Contacts
fldJobID (PrimaryKey)

My question is this...How can I force the user to enter the Contact information for Contact Types 1,2,3, and 4 while leaving the remaining contacts types as optional?
I would like a form with combo boxes for the first four Contact Types which must be assigned for every job and then a continuous subform where the user can assign the remaining contact types if needed.
Initially, I planned to store the first four Contact Types as separate fields in the main table (tblJob) - however, distribution lists are needed and it makes more sense for all the contact information to be stored in the same table.
