Forms :: How To Change Am Or Pm Based On Time Entered
Nov 1, 2013I have a form where I am capturing StartTime and EndTime of certain events. I have set the input mask as 99:00 >LL;0;_
My users think it is too much to enter am or pm. What they want is the system to calculate the am pm based on the time entered.
If the time entered is between 8:00 to 11:59, the system should save it as 11:59 am and if the time entered is between 12:00 to 7.00, the system should save it as 7.00 pm.
How can I make this happen.

Jun 30, 2013I have set up a form and only want to display the date and time that will appear automatically based on when the record was created. I definitely don't know how to do this.
The format that I'm looking for is: 07/24/13 11:45:44pm
From what I can see I would need two separate fields to accomplish this. I would prefer to only use one if possible. I would like to execute the value within the new record as it is entered. That date and time from that point should never change.
I will want to use the date and time in the future for quality control.

Feb 17, 2014I wanted to assign the field "Number of magazine" with special format based on date/time format but showing only year and month in the format: "yyyy-mm".
So in property of this field in format I put yyyy-mm and in input mask I type 0000-00;;-
I also created the form based on the table containing above field and I defined format and input mask for corresponding formant in the same way like at the table.
But if I try to type date for example 2014-01 in text box of the form it comes up with the full date 2014-01-01. Why does it do like this? What do I do incorrectly?

The properties of the table is listed below
Table Name: Test
Field Name: ADMDAT2 (Text)
DISDAT2 (Text)
Operation Date (Date/Time)
I have written a query to populate a field where the Operation Date is between the ADMDAT2 and DISDAT2
Expr1: IIf([ADMDAT2] Is Null,"",IIf([Operation Date]>=[ADMDAT2] And [Operation Date]<=[DISDAT2],"Match"))
Unfornately it returns and ERROR message... I believe this may be because, the data type of the field, matching a Text with a Date/Time, I have rerun the query using a sample table where all the fields are Date/Time, and it work perfectly.
What i need help with how do i convert a text field into a Date/Time in a query?
So i can place that in the query before i populate the Test table. therefore it all should be date/time

Mar 31, 2014I have an Access 2010 application running on Win 7 Pro which connects to a Back End SQL Server database. I am trying to get Access to synchronise the client pc system date & time with the Sql server date and time. Please note, the date/time does not necessarily have to be correct, it just has to be consistent between the server and all the pcs running the Access application.
I have tried two methods as follows. But both only work if Access with Administrator privileges, which isn't really practical.

Rnd Based Off System Time/date

I'm trying to find a solution to a problem. Is there any way using VBA to generate a random number, based off the current system date and time? The theory is that a random number seeded by the system date/time will be truly unique and the possiblity of it ever occuring again will be nearly nil.
Or is there a better way to create unique ID's (such as member ID's, or something similiar) based off the system date/time that can be used as a primary key in a relational db.

Aug 29, 2013I have a date/time text field on a form with the General Date format and a combo box next to it that has sequencial times as the row source (IE. 12:45 AM, 1:00 AM, 1:15 AM, 1:30 AM, ETC.) When the user chooses a time in the combo box, I want the time portion of the text box to be updated with the chosen time in the combo. I have tried a few things but cant seem to get it right.

I had a problem. Now I decided to just make two tables, one with sales for a "passer by" and/or directly to a client without a case/labour costs. And a table for sales in relation to a case with labour costs etc. I guess I still m*ssed up on that part and have to make do with that decision (kind of like I depicted in the photoshopped image).
For invoicenumbers I want to use DDMMYYYYHHMM. When adding that field to the design of a table, how do I go about that? Do I just use a Text field and create an input mask for that? Or do I need to use a number format with a certain input mask? Or would it be wiser just to use the date/time type of field and give it a new inputmask? I guess 000000000000 would be the one for that, right? Although I read the help file I do not know if I should use ;0; behind those first group of zero's or not. Yes it is a mandatory field, but it will fill in itself as soon as a product is typed in in the product/invoice list, with a default value of the current date and time.
I need to brush up my knowledge on the formatting for that so that 28-05-1975 19:55 will be displayed and stored as 280519751955. Or is that also done automatically by using that input mask? Or will that give an error when Date or Time() etc. is used for that field in VBA?
Just a few questions I need some help with, I've been trying some stuff but it really doesn't "stick".
And if anyone has some time, I could really use some general advice/ideas for setting up the invoicing part differently for a new version of the db yet to come in the future.

Here is the scenario..
I have a table with two fields named "item" & "description" that contains 10 records total.
I have another table with 100 records with the fields "invoice #","item", "price paid","date paid","time paid".
The item fields are linked between the two, and the 100 records contain different invoices for these ten items.
I want to pull the price paid off of the latest invoice, based on the time and date... What is the easiest way to do this?

Oct 7, 2014I am needing to design a form that allows a user to add or overwrite a number of records by copying and pasting the information from an Excel Spreadsheet, however one of the problems is that the information being sent has times stored as text - so, for 04:45, it is simply stored as 0445 on the spreadsheet.
Is there a way to have these autocorrect once pasted into the datasheet?Also, is there a way to make a datasheet form that copies a number of records into itself depending on a user selection? The basics of what I am trying to achieve is:
I have a number of services that operate on a number of services (public transport), each vehicle has a unique identifier (Bonnet), and each place in the schedule has a unique identifier (RunNo); there are different schedules for different day types (Saturday, Sunday, Monday, Tuesday to Thursday, Friday and so on), and the times that each RunNo goes out and comes in differs depending on the day type.
At the moment, I have a table which has the following fields:
ID (Autonumber, PK)
DayType
Route
RunNumber
TimeOut
TimeIn
My idea/hope is that a user will be able to open a vehicle allocation datasheet for the day, select the day type (lets say, Saturday) which will then populate the relevant number of rows with the schedule information (looking at a Saturday, that would be 128 rows), and then a blank column to add to the records a vehicle ID that is being used for each RunNo for the day.
Now, on top of all this, I need to also cater for vehicles being substituted during the course of the day - - - if one breaks down, it will have to be de-allocated from the list (so presumably by changing the TimeIn to the current/actual time rather than the scheduled time) and the user will need to be allowed to add a further row to show which vehicle was used next against that RunNo.
Just to further complicate things, there is quite a number of vehicles that will have a time in which is in the following day (ie after midnight) - whilst this isn't a problem in storing the times, I also want this table to be looked up to determine whether a vehicle is currently allocated or not.
The fields for the AllocatedVehicles table are:
ID (Autonumber, PK)
RunNumber
Bonnet Number
DateOfService
TimeOut
TimeIn
It is hope that all of these with the exception of Bonnet Number can be populated by selecting the day type?

Aug 21, 2013I have a weekly list of transactions that come in the format DD/MM/YYYY HH:MM:SS, I need to tag these individual transactions with a week number. The problem is, I can't use the Datepart function etc. as the day is classed as running from 8am to 8am rather than midnight. I have a list of all of the weekly date ranges for a few years (with the time) so I was able to solve this problem in excel by using the Index and Match functions. However, I'm trying to automate this process as much as possible so I'd rather perform this function in Access.

Apr 14, 2015I have a routine than has been working perfectly up to now. My save routine was called by clicking a Command Button called cmdAdd.
I tried to change this Command Button to a toggle button by deleting it then creating the toggle button, naming it cmdAdd and clicking on the event property to link it to the existing procedure. PS It is an UnboundForm
BTW, I've done this for several other commands without a problem but with this particular case I get the following error
Run Time Error 2115.
The macro or function set to the Before Update or Validation Rule is preventing Access from saving etc."
It seems likely that I need to do something to the toggle properties.
It allows the docmd.save but still says "You must save the current field before you run the Requery action"
The system is looking to save/update and something is stopping it. Funny though that this doesn't occur with Command Button
I have tried decompiling, compact and repair, commenting out every line that involved updating a field or variable (Except for a recordset operation that does correctly do the updates required)
BTW the Toggle button has no Before or After Update events - Only the On_Click

Apr 17, 2014I have two tables, One table containes customer name, etc., tblcustomers the other table contains the tbltimelog, log of activity start time end time. No issues. I want to generate a form based on the dateofentry for the time record. I am not able to get a summary lets say I spent 20 hours on ABC and 20 hours on CBS. If I spent 3 different days on ABC and 6 different days on CBS it will not add them together it will list it ABC 3 times and CBS 6 times. I have tried the distinct function but it doesn't work because the date is distinct. Is there a way to do this as an SQL or whatever. Thinking I could just create a new table and calculating the totals but that seems to be a waste.

May 17, 2013I have a form that request information from the user (StartDate, StartTime, EndDate and EndTime) the problem is that it's not working. The only way I can get any data to show is when I remove the StartTime and EndTime. Only then will it pull the items from the StartDate and EndDate.
Here is what I have as my criteria: Between [Forms]![OpPROD_ALL]![StartTime] And [Forms]![ OpPROD_ALL]![EndTime] And Between [Forms]![ OpPROD_ALL]![StartDate] And [Forms]![ OpPROD_ALL]![EndDate]
The users will be able to request a report based on a start and end date along with a start time and end time.
Side note: this is to pull date for 3rd shift (Example) 4/14/2013 10:00PM - 4/15/2013 10PM

I am being requested to do an update to the database which means that I have to filter some values on that combobox based on a field on a previous form.For example:The main form is called "frmcontacts" and has a table field called "txttypeofcustomer" which can have two values: "customer" or "dealer".
The form that contains the combobox is called "frmnewissue" the combobox is called "cmbissuetype". "frmNewIssue" is opened through a button on "frmContacts". This combobox pulls the values from a table "tblissuetype". The values in that combobox are then: "Repair" "Return" "Question" "Replace".
If the value on txtTypeofCustomer is "Dealer" then all the values for the combobox remain visible. If the value of txtTypeOfCustomer is "Customer" then "Replace" cannot be visible or has to be greyed out.

ID , APP_DATE , APP_TIME , DETAILS , APP_STS
I want to have a pop-up form 5 minutes before the appointment time !!! (That is it)
- I know it's better to manage the appointments within outlook.
- I do not want to connect my DB with outlook appointments.
- I want the reminder form to have a "snooze for 5 minutes" button and "Done" Button to change the appointment status (APP_STS) to done.
- I think we are going to use on timer event (which is totally new for me)

The combos allow the user to select either a customer or a prospect, then the command buttons open forms that only show records pertaining to the customer or prospect selected. Combos are "4Custcbo" and "4Proscbo".
1.How do I change which command buttons are available depending on whether the user has selected a customer or a prospect? Do I use two different subforms or is there a better way?
2.How do I hide the other combo box once the user has selected either a customer or a prospect?

Hard Code TIME To Selected Date On Form (to Make It Date&time) For My Query Criteria

To select data that falls within this criteria of date range between cboDate and cboDate2 (fields on my form). The date in [tblJobDetails]![timeIn] come in this format "08/17/06 10:24 AM", but the cboDate/cboDate2 (takes in date only e.g 08/17/06) what i am after is to evaluate specific hard coded time in addition to the date entered, i.e. even tho, i haven't entered time on the cboDate/cboDate2, I want specific time hard coded where e.g If i select a date range of 08/17/06 and 08/18/06 on my cboDate and cboDate2 it should really be evaluating: 08/17/06 8:00 AM to 08/18/06 8:00 AM.
This is the criteria i curentlly have on my query in design view tha works perfect in selecting date only.
