Forms :: Display Images On A Form In A Split Database
Jan 2, 2015
Am trying to display images on a form in a split database. I add the attachment field to the associated form's table and add the attachment control to the form but cannot get the image(s) to display on the form (the control remains blank). I can add the image(s) in table view (and display them) but double clicking on the form control also does nothing.
I think I must be doing at least the basics correctly as if I try the same thing to an earlier, non-split version of the database, all works as expected. Are there additional steps required to do this thing in a split database?

how to display images from a database in the form. The form looks approximately like Customerdetail from Northwind Access example database. Images in database I have stored as OLE object images. But how to link images with the form? Is it enough to give in properties control element source images column name? It seems like it is not.

I have a split form on my database where I have my combo boxes bound to a primary key but they display the description field so it's much easier to understand. Is there a way to do this with option groups? In other words, I would like the datasheet part to display the option group labels rather than the values so it is easier to understand.

I have a split DB that is in its (hopefully) finally stages of development. Using Access 2010. It is being developed both at work and at home on a 64 bit machine. The remainder of the machines are 32 bit.
All of a sudden one of my most basic sets of code doesn't want to work, but only on my machine at work. It works fine on my home computer and on other computers at work. It is the simplest of codes, run from frmNameA:
DoCmd.OpenForm "frmNameB", acNormal, , "[SequenceNumber] = " & Me![SequenceNumber], acFormEdit, acWindowNorm
The desired sequence of events is to open frmNameA, find the active clients and then click on the [SequenceNumber] to bring up the related record on frmNameB.
When I do this on my computer at work, it asks for the query criteria for the [SequenceNumber] and the criteria for another field. On the home computer and others at work, it works just fine.
In a related problem, I have the following code on the OnLoad event for frmNameB. It opens all the related records for active clients that are in frmNameB. But if there are no related records, it is supposed to cancel the event. Again, it works fine on my home computer and others at work, but not my work computer.
Private Sub Form_Open(Cancel As Integer)
'code when opened from frmNameA and no record exists in frmNameB
Dim MyReply
If ClientID = "" Or IsNull(ClientID) Then
MyReply = MsgBox("No record exits in frmNameB, Do You Want to Exit?", vbOKOnly)
If MyReply = vbOK Then
DoCmd.RunCommand acCmdUndo
DoCmd.Close acForm, "frmNameB", acSaveNo
End If
End If
End Sub
What I can't figure out is why this may be happening, where I might look for errors, and what I might do to correct this.

Is it possible to display, in either a form, multiple images that are dynamically linked? Can they all be displayed at once 1 to many images, either by using navigation bars or scrolling through a subform? The links would be stored in another table within the same database and not as hyperlinks.
Conceptually it would be like scrolling through multiple records on a subform with images rather than alphanumeric data in fields.
Would like to know if this is possible and if so in what versions of ACCESS.
Is there add-on software that would make this possible.

I've split my database into a front end and back end which was relatively easy. I did this so that multiple users can have their own front end. But if I have to go in and change the back end and front end, does that mean I have to remake all the front ends? Right now I'm finding that if I delete my linked tables on the front end and then import them into the back end again and change everything on one screen and then split it again is the only option I know of.

I have recently been experimenting with adding an Access database to a shared folder (in a network HomeGroup) and have it working on two networked PCs. Then tried the same with the database split but I get a path error on the PC joined to the HomeGroup (where the database resides) whenever the backend (tables) are accessed by a form or from the Tables listing. If I however open the backend file directly from the file directory, the tables all open as expected.
The path stated as being invalid in the error message starts with "C:Usersetc..... instead of LAF-PCUsersetc..... so it looks (to me at least) that it is attempting to load the file from the local hard drive rather than the host computer.
Why a split database works differently in this situation than a non-split.

I have a split database consisting of an ACCDB backend helf on a shared drive, and a local ACCDR frontend distributed through email. I recently distributed a copy of the ACCDR to a user, and she says that the main menu opens fine, but when she clicks a button to open a form, the form opens but is completely blank. I've googled some possible causes for this (e.g. on Allen Brown's website) and none seem to be relevant, or would explain why this started happening all of a sudden. I can't reproduce this bug at all.

i've looked but can't find the answer!! which is unusual as this forum covers everything.
i have a field [photo location] with a hyperlink to a folder within which is a number of images. at the moment i have 2500 folders and its growing daily. the action i want when the 'photo location' field had got focus or when clicked is for the photos within the folder to open [not within the form itself] - either in seperate windows or preferably all together. i am using irfanview to display the images but am easy on this point. i do not want to give each photo its own hyperlink because there are thousands of them. any suggestions as to how i should do this?
thanks

This Access database is Web Compatible and is hosted on SharePoint. I have a form with a subform that display collections of records. As you can see in the attached image, the user selects a record from the combo box which filters the form/subform below. Each record will contain more than 1 item.
What I want to do is mimic a "Split Form". But, the last thing that is missing is being able to select an item from the subform (datasheet view) which displays several items in the record and have that item be displayed in the form. Currently, I have to use the record selector buttons at the bottom of the form to have the item I want displayed in full. But I want to be able to click the item in the subform and have it populate in the main form on this page.

I have a 2007 back-end db on a network share and around 15 regular users who access it through their own front-end db/interface. One user on Windows 7 is able to launch and use his front-end copy fine except when he goes to launch one form for data entry.
This form clocks and freezes the entire application. I sat with him and was able to determine that the issue is that the form_load code is never running. He clicks on the button to launch the form (done in vba) and the code never runs. If he opens the form in design view first then changes to form view, the code runs fine and there are no issues. This is his present work-around, but I had to give him an unlocked FE copy to pull it off (not ideal!).
I tried this with him on different PCs, with different front-end copies, and even in the back-end copy. Same result each time. None of the other users have this issue, and he can replicate this issue on different PCs. I'm at a loss for what might be causing this since it really seems so user-specific.

I have an Access 2010 database that I have split. In the database I have a couple tables, forms and two reports. I have entered some data into one of the tables, but when I go to edit the data in the form the next time, there is no data (though I have verified that there is data in the table). Also, there are two reports that can pull the data without any problem.
Why the data wouldn't show up in the form.

When I right click a row on the data sheet side of a split form an select "New Record" I want the curser to go to the first field on the single record side. I've placed this in the OnCurrent but it did no good.
Code:
If Me.NewRecord Then
Me!Descrfiption.SetFocus.
End If
Any way to set the focus to the single form Side of a split form?

Basically I need to design form that looks very similar to either Split Form or Subform. I have attached a print screen of what I roughly need. The form is split into two parts. In the first/top part there are some List Box/Date fields that act as filters to the bottom form, so the bottom form displays only records that match values in red. The second part of the top form has some field that require input from user and then these records are added to the bottom form. I was trying to use both Split Form and Subform and none of it is working,I have attached an example of database and this form would be based on data from Query1.

Is it possible (haven't found a way yet) to have two "split subforms" on a parent form side-by-side? When I try the multiple rows portion of the split view I created as a subform doesn't appear?
Want to have a form when I have search/filter/select record for table 1 (on the left) and table 2 (on the right) with a means in between to create a relationship which has a few parameters.

I have a small access 2010 system. The database design was not good (replication of data all over the place) so I have been tidying up the design but have hit a few problems.I am using a form which contains amongst other things a customer name. The customer name used to be part of the enquiry table, and was picked up directly from there. I have replaced this with the key to the customer table. The only way I have managed to pick the customer name up is to change the control from a text box to either a list box or a combo box. I then have to set column count to 2 set the widths to 0 and 3 to hide the 1st one (the ID) and then set the bound column to 2 to show the customer description.
This is fine up to a point BUT the format controls on the list/combo are different from the text box so I can't replicate the back style and back colour (I had transparent and no colour respectively); the back style has disappeared and how to make the back color as "no colour".Also I end up with 2 little up and down arrows (for the list box) or ma bigger arrow for the combo.

I created a split form. My main form is just a form, based off of tblBlotter. The subform is based off a query, which is the based off the same tblBlotter. (Not sure if this is proper - maybe I just need the table?)
I have a link master and link child field set to ID. When I open the form "subBlotterHistory", it opens and shows as a new record only. I want it to show ALL records on the query subform and be able to scroll up, down and edit.
Attached is a sample w bogus data.
