Forms :: Export Current Record In Form To Another Database?
Apr 24, 2013
Currently, I have a database situation in which I am working in one database with data. If this data does not belong in this database I need to be able to take specific fields from the record and insert it into either a new table in a different database I have, or have it copied to a blank form that would accept it.
i want to crate a continuous form where i can add a button to export all of the attachments in that current record, i can create a folder and name it same as the selected record but how I can export all of the attachments in that record
Code: Dim strUserName As String Dim Location As String strUserName = Environ("UserName") Location = "C:Documents and Settings" & strUserName & "Desktop" & Me.ID If Dir(Location, vbDirectory) = "" Then MkDir Location
I have made a navigation form that prints the current record out as a PDF and also the option to send the current record by email as a PDF. Both work perfect when you open the form outside the navigation form. But when you open it inside the navigation form, it does not print any of the information.
The problem is in the Query report, In the criteria box for field [RequsetID] it has
I have created a navigation form with quick access to the forms and reports I use most often. The Navigation Form (which I named Control Panel) automatically lands on the Tutor_Information Form on a current record. However, I would like for it to open to a blank form instead while retaining the ability to access the current records. Individually, when opening the Tutor_Information Form from the Navigation Panel, it opens to a blank record.
I used a 2 step macro
1. OpenForm 2. GoToRecord - New.
How can I make it do the same thing when landing on the Navigation Form (Control Panel)? I am using Access 2013.
I would like to be able to switch between these two forms and the form automatically set focus to the record that I was on the form prior. Meaning if I am on record 3 on Form A and navigate to Form B, I would like to automatically set focus to record 3. Is this possible?
A possible issue after this gets sorted out is what happens if with the same scenario above record 3 does not exits? is it possible in that instance to simply requery the form?
I have a DB in Access 2007 which I'm having trouble with. I have a form, "Sub_Det_Frm", on which I would like to place a button to print the current record, (Primary Key is an autonumber "Employee Number") to a report "Sub_DetForm_Rpt".
I've used the instructions from, oops I can't show you the link! It's h(double t)p(colon)//allenbrowne(dot)com/casu-15(dot)html but I'm getting this error:
The expression On Click you entered as the property setting produced the following error: A problem occurred while Employee Details was communicating with the OLE server or ActiveX Control.
This error occurs when an event has failed to run because Microsoft Office Access cannot evaluate the location of the logic for the event. For example, if the OnOpen property of a form is set to =[Field], this error occurs because Access expects a macro or event name to run when the event is fired.
Combo box on continuous form should have the control source listed as the field on the form that will be updated. The Row Source, however, is a query that includes 2 things: the field on the form that will be updated (this part will be nonvisible in your form) and the table/query of selections you want to show up in the combo box (visible). Then ensure the Bound column is set to 1 and the Column count is set to 2 with Column Widths as 0";1"
I created an unbound text box on a form that automatically pulls the current logged in user by using this:
Private Sub Txtuser_Click() Me.Txtuser = Environ("Username")
The form grabbs the logged in user with no problems, however, I ultimately want this information to also end up in my table. So the form has three boxes (to keep it simple). The user will type their first name and last name manually on the form which the record source is this "table" where their name goes to the table last name =Field 1 and first name=Field 2 respectively. I want the unbound box from the form to place the logged in user in Field 3 for the current record.
I have a main form "frmDriverNoticeRecord" with 2 subforms, "frmSubDriverNotice" and "frmSubVehicleRecord"..The main form uses "IncidentID" as the PK. Each form stores data in its own table. The tables are related via IncidentID and there is a 1-many relationship between tblIncident (main) and tblDN (sub) and tblVehicle (sub).
I have a form "frmIncidentLog" displaying records in a table view with a few fields for quick reference and to allow selection of a single record for detailed viewing. I created a command button with the intent to open the "frmDriverNoticeRecord" at the current record. The main form and child link fields appear to be linked correctly; i.e. IncidentID on all three. If I open the form manually it opens and I can use it and search and filter as I want. If I try to open it via the command button It opens a small window asking for the IncidenID, when I enter theIncidentID number, it opens the form to the first record every time. Here is the code:
Private Sub comOpenDR_Click()
Dim frmName As String Dim recID As String frmName = "frmDriverNoticeRecord" recID = "[IncidentID]=" & Me![IncidentID] DoCmd.OpenForm frmName, , , recID End Sub
I tried running the the DoCmd.OpenForm command directly from the button using the where condition (in various manners) with the same results.
in a continuous form i want to click on one record and have the one field change the background colour to highlight it. When I use the code: Field. BackColor = vbYellow it changes the background on all the records. Is there a code to say only for the record with focus?
I wish to change the backcolor of a field on a current record being dispalyed in a 'multiple items' form. However when using me.A.backcolor = makes refrence to all fields called A on the 'multiple items' form and therefore all fields change colour not just the current record.
What I really need is for when the form opens, it looks at todays date, then matches current user and then goes to that record for today, if no current user there, then will goto new record..
i know, sounds complicated, and probably is really easy, but my heads not with it today, as about to get drunk as its my 40th, and got people ringing and texting and still trying to get this done....
I've included a copy of this database, named Timecards..
I have a table with fields for the year, dues, and a Boolean field that indicates whether or not its record is the current year record.
I have a form based on the table that is used to update the table.
My business rule is that only one record can have the "current year" field checked.
I am working with the Form_Before_Update event. What I would like to happen is if the person selects the "current year" check box and if there is already another record with its check box selected, my code will realize that the user has selected a second record and undo the check box and cancel the event.
Question: Looking for code that would check for the second record being checked and back out the user's check for that record?
Note: I have to account for not only the user clicking the record selector to try and save the record, but also the case where they check the box, then click on the "close form" button that I created.
I have a table called tblFinishedGoods. There are 3 fields in the table:Serial Number, Model Number and Location.
I would like to have a form that will take input from my barcode reader and input the data for the 3 fields, if the serial number is not already in the table.(I have this already working). But now I would like the same form to also check the table for any serial number that is scanned in...and if it is in the table already, have it bring up the model number and location for that record.
I'm thinking maybe there is something I can do with Serial Number afterupdate. Basically I'm looking for a way to not require the user to input anything via a mouse or keyboard.
If the 1 form could accept the 3 scans:Serial Number,Model Number and Location, and either 1)enter a new record if that serial number isnt in the table or 2)find that the serial number already exists and overwrite the model number and location with whatever the next 2 scans are.
I have a split DB that is in its (hopefully) finally stages of development. Using Access 2010. It is being developed both at work and at home on a 64 bit machine. The remainder of the machines are 32 bit.
All of a sudden one of my most basic sets of code doesn't want to work, but only on my machine at work. It works fine on my home computer and on other computers at work. It is the simplest of codes, run from frmNameA:
The desired sequence of events is to open frmNameA, find the active clients and then click on the [SequenceNumber] to bring up the related record on frmNameB.
When I do this on my computer at work, it asks for the query criteria for the [SequenceNumber] and the criteria for another field. On the home computer and others at work, it works just fine.
In a related problem, I have the following code on the OnLoad event for frmNameB. It opens all the related records for active clients that are in frmNameB. But if there are no related records, it is supposed to cancel the event. Again, it works fine on my home computer and others at work, but not my work computer.
Private Sub Form_Open(Cancel As Integer) 'code when opened from frmNameA and no record exists in frmNameB Dim MyReply If ClientID = "" Or IsNull(ClientID) Then MyReply = MsgBox("No record exits in frmNameB, Do You Want to Exit?", vbOKOnly) If MyReply = vbOK Then DoCmd.RunCommand acCmdUndo DoCmd.Close acForm, "frmNameB", acSaveNo End If End If End Sub
What I can't figure out is why this may be happening, where I might look for errors, and what I might do to correct this.
I'm constructing a database to record appointments. I want my users to input their appointments on one half of a form (I can manage that bit) but on the other half I want them to be able to see a list of the appointments they already have booked that day (with any patient) or what the patients already have booked that day (with themselves and any other therapists).
The appointment fields they will need to see are:
start time end time patient/therapist (depending on if they are viewing their own or the chosen patients' appointments type of appointment (physiotherapy etc) location
The date won't need to be seen but will dictate which day's appointments are listed.
At it's simplest I could get away with a list of the day's appointments for the patient and date the therapist has typed into the form to start the record.
Ideally I'd like them to be able to choose whether to see a list of the patient's appointments for that day or their own. If there's room I would display both.
Here's the final, 'moon-on-a-stick' bit... it would be great if I could show the appointments in time slots rather than just as a list. From what I can tell that's quite tricky to pull off but i thought I would ask anyway...
At the moment I don't even know what keywords to look up - is this 'embedding a report in a form' or 'inserting a filtered list' and so on.
i've designed a rental database (which seems to do what i want) - it's not perfect....
But i can't figure out how to accomplish this.
If i have a tenant, who has previously had a lease agreement on one of my properties, but then moves out, and then moves into one of my new properties, i can't seem to see how to get access to display just the new lease details.
I've attached a blank copy of the DB with some sample data to illustrate this.
you will see that test tenant has two leases, one expired lease, and one active lease, but on the main form it just shows the expired (original lease)....
When I run this code to delete the form's current record, the Me.Requery throws error #3167 (Record is deleted) and leaves "#Deleted" in all of the fields.
Private Sub DeleteProfessional_Click() Dim MyDatabase As Database Dim rstProfessionals As DAO.Recordset Set rstProfessionals = Form_Professional.RecordsetClone If (rstProfessionals.RecordCount = 0) Then MsgBox ("There are no Professionals to delete!")
I have a procedure to export a record to excel. One of the fields is a date field and its set at medium format i.e. dd-mm-yyyy. That is how it appears i the associated tables and form.I want to include that date in part of the exported filename.I created a string:
But the procedure is stopping because access is looking at the date as dd/mm/yyy. I think the reason its failing is because you cant name a file with a forward slash. Is there some way I can format the string at all?
I am new to Access. I am using Access 2010. I have searched and found several articles on emailing the current record shown on a form but haven't been able to get any of them to work.
My goal is to have a user input information onto the form and then have one button the user will click that will save the current record, email the current record in pdf, and then close the form.
The form name is: frmCorrectiveActions. The unique identifier for a record is: Corrective Action ID.
The last coding I tried is below. I know something is wrong but have copied this code from another post about emailing forms so I'm not even sure what half of it means.
I am getting the message Run-time error '3075': Syntax error (missing operator) in query expression "Corrective Actions ID = 23' and when I hit debug this is highlighted: qry.SQL = strSQL
form Private Sub Email_Click() Dim qry As DAO.QueryDef Dim strSQL As String Dim ReportQueryName As String ReportQueryName = "qryCorrectiveActions" Set qry = CurrentDb.QueryDefs(ReportQueryName)
two tables: Addresses, Instructions One form_one subform: User form
The user form contains set of instructions for each company that we take care off, the sub-form has all of the addresses for the company, these come from the "Address" table, the two are linked via a field called "companyID" so the subform only displays the addresses for the current company being viewed on the form.
The problem is, on the subform there is a dropdown box called "administrator" and this is used to select the person who is looking after the company. Some of the companies have hundreds of addresses, so when i click the next record button on the subform I have to fill in the administrator again for every address for the same company. Is there a way using vba or a simple function to auto update all of the "administrator" dropdown boxes for that company based on the administrator I select for the first address.
I would like to have a button (cmdPrintIntroLetter) on my Client Details form that takes the client name, address and company data of the record that I'm currently viewing and putting it into an address box in a Word document.
e.g. when I contact a new customer and input their details into my form I want to then be able to send them an introductory letter (standard wording) from me with just the click of a button.
FAO: FirstName LastName CompanyName Address1 Address2 Address3 Town County Postcode
I've been faffing around with concatenating my address fields into an address textbox in a report but I really don't like using a report to write a letter, it just feels wrong - on every level.I also want another button (cmdEmailBrochure) which opens an email template using the records email address and inserting the name of the client into the body of the email.
I am building a database where one Form displays records from 14 different tables. For some reason, when I recently try to add a field on to a form from a new table, the ENTIRE form loses the record source, and every single field that is already on the form gets that green dot in the corner with errors surrounding a record source that cannot be found. What am I doing wrong? Am I exceeding some limitations with forms?
