Forms :: Hold Record With Time And Go Back To It Later?

I am preparing a database to track the daily activities of my team. This is a real time database wherein the users will add their daily ongoing task and submit.

The action for me is, I need to capture the time required for each task.

Also, there is a possibility that the user will have to hold a task for a while/days due to some issue and will start another task. Once they have a feedback on the issue they will resume the pending/holded task.

Here, I need to capture only the time they have invested in performing the task and ignore the time spent to receive feedback on the issue. Hence the time should start when they start the activity and pause when they hold the activity. Again, the time should continue where they had paused, when they re-start the holded activvity and finally ends when the submit.

Forms :: Hold Filter On Subform

I'm trying to make it so I could filter a subform from the main form and it will hold those results and allow them to be edited in the subform without it refiltering it. I want it to still be able to update the table by whats edited in the subform, but I don't want it to "disappear" from the subform when the filtered "matching" criteria is changed on a record.

How could I go about accomplishing this?

Here is my code for the filter of my subform:

Forms :: Main Form Jumps Back To 1st Record When Moving To Next Record In Subform?

When I add a record in the subform and then move to the next record whilst still in the subform, the main form jumps back to its first record? I then have to move back to the right record in the main form to update the next record in the subform.

I want to move to the next record in the subform without affecting the main form.

I have a form which has 3 subforms based on a table with a combo box. When I select value from the combo box the data on the subform changes accordingly using the 'Requery'. However, they also show the record from the 1st value of the combo box. Is there a way I can get this solved?

Report Back A Fee Based On Time

Hello.

I have been given a set of pricing tables in Excel that, based on the type of work done, show a dollar amount for time ranges. In other words, if WorkType = A, the appropriate pricing table is referenced and the amount of time in minutes is found within ranges ("0 - .3333", ".3333 - .6500", etc) shown in hour decimals (.3333 = 20 minutes), then an associated dollar amount is reported back. (I know... very awkward, but not my choice). The time ranges are not consistent in size either within a particular pricing table nor across tables. The person using these tables is doing this manually now.

What I need to be able to do is enter the WorkType and duration, and get the dollar amount from the table, even though the duration is not going to exactly match the value in the table. In Excel's VLOOKUP, you can put in amounts that not exact, and the function finds the highest value less than your entry. Can Access do that? I tried reading up on DLOOKUP, but I don't think that is what I need (or maybe I just don't understand it). I'm not sure of an efficient table setup or how to get the correct output.

Way To Hold Value From Field For Another Form

I have a form, that allows the users to enter time off for staff. It has a start date and end date fields. When they hit submit, it will enter records for all the days within this timespan into the table.

Here is the code I have on my button onclick

What I want to do next is, after it enters the data. It popups another form, that is based on a query that checks for duplicate entries for that person.

I thought using something like this right after the msg box alert, would do the trick.

but, what happens is after the data is entered. The main form clears so the user can make the next entry. So when the popup form is generated, there is no 'employee_name' data to base the query on. so the form opens blank.

Is there a way to keep the 'employee_name' field data in a temp memory or something so the form has something to run with?

Or does anyone have a better solution? I would prefer that the data never gets entered in the first place, but I can't get anything like that to work with my current form.

Poor Error Handling In Access - It's Like Going Back In Time. Anyone Agree?

I'm sick of the lame excuse for error messages that Access gives out.. I'm talking about 'Overflow', 'invalid use of Null' and such like.

What about telling you what field/expression caused the error and on what record if applicable.

It's so frustrating - Access obviously knows what caused the error but refuses to tell you so you have to go through the annoying process of taking out fields one by one (when in query view).

Does anyone agree that they need to make the error handling in Access much better?

I have a small issue, but cannot solve it. I have a form with a textbox bound to a time(7) on a SQL server linked table.

Even if I put the format as "Short time 24h" or "hh:mm" it will always come out with seconds, nanoseconds, etc as soon as you change record. I would like to avoid using the "current" event to keep the "hh:mm" at any record change.

In my DB there is a set of company-running rules that are addressed to different groups within the company, like drivers, bookkeeping, warehouse, electricians etc. Both groups and workers scope and number might change from time to time. I need to make a table that holds which worker belongs to which of these groups (one worker to one or more groups). The easiest way of setting this for the user would be kind of a matrix-look form where lines would hold the name of workers, columns would hold the groups and at the cross points there would be check boxes to set or unset membership. However I can't find the way in what table sturcture this could be utilized.

Forms :: Multiple Record Input At Same Time In Form

We store data for clients which can be found online. Our current method of getting the data so we can analyze it is to copy a table found online and pasting it into excel.

What we want to do is to copy that data into an access table. This equates to inputting multiple records at the same time. There are 5 columns and around 20 rows (records) pasted at the same time. I want to do this in Access, through a form which would them store that data in the appropriate table.

I assume there is an ActiveX control out there which can put a spreadsheet in an access form. Then i could maybe write a VBA procedure to input the data into a table.

Forms :: Display Date And Time Based On When Record Was Created

I have set up a form and only want to display the date and time that will appear automatically based on when the record was created. I definitely don't know how to do this.

The format that I'm looking for is: 07/24/13 11:45:44pm

From what I can see I would need two separate fields to accomplish this. I would prefer to only use one if possible. I would like to execute the value within the new record as it is entered. That date and time from that point should never change.

I will want to use the date and time in the future for quality control.

Currently if an employee attends a mandatory training session the details are entered individually into in a single table which contains all the employees' attendances to training, this is achieved via a bound form.

Works Fine.

My question is, if the training is carried out by a number of employees can this attendance be recorded on one form and assigned to each of the employees who attended?

Forms :: Duplicate Record Created Each Time In Customer Relationship

I am creating an access database for recording calls and follow ups for a company

relevant tables
mst_customers
card_call

ID from customers and customer_id from card_call have a one to many with all records of card_call

Although its more elaborate than this, lets get down to the problem

I created a form with a subform that should basically allow selection of customer and based on this, the creation of records in card_call as per customer selected. form and subform are linked by customer_id

Everything is working except a peculiar issue where if i select a customer_id it shows all relevant records + an additional record (usually 1 or 2) that just changes the customer_id for that record.

Example

customer_ID = 2 (combobox bound to column1 and showing name/column2)

output
call_ID | Customer_ID
1 | 2
2 | 2

changing customer_id to 4 will change to
1 | 4

Current User Report With Hold And Open Ended Dates

I manage a fleet of vehicles at work with drivers assigned to these vehicles. Each driver may opt to pay a contribution for private use of these vehicles.

This can normally be done on an excel database, however, the drivers sometimes go on leave, so I need to put their payments on hold. At this time, other drivers may take over for that period or the vehicle is left at the office. Also, the drivers change their level of contribution from time to time, so I need to adjust that accordingly too.

When the driver takes over a vehicle they complete a form that has the contribution level (there are 4 to chose from) and the dates they will have it from. They always provide a start date, however, sometimes the end date is left open.

Sometimes, driver A will say something like 'From 1 Jan 2012 To Open' then driver B may take it for a week and say 'From 1 July 2012 To 1 August 2012'.

I want to know if Access is the right tool to produce the report with the current driver, and that it will revert back to the Driver A after 1 August?

Forms :: Search Form When Closing Gives Warning - Cannot Save Record At This Time

I have a "Search" form that I am using to search through a query in a list box of all of my Customers. Once the record that I am wanting to view comes up I highlight it and click a "View" button to bring up another form with the customers full record. When this form is open I am able to update the customer information and add User's to it if necessary.

My problem comes after I click on my save and close button that takes me back to me search form. I want to close the search form and the error I get is "The record cannot be deleted or changed because table "tblUserProfile" includes related records." I click OK and get a SECOND error stating "You can't save this record at this time. MS Access may have encountered an error while trying to save a record. If you close this object now, the data changes you made will be lost. Do you want to close the database object anyway?"

I have already made my changes and saved them in the form with the customer record so am not sure why I am getting an error when trying to close the Search form.

Making Cursor Go Back To The Record I Came From?

I have a subform (continuous) which shows a summary of all clients basic data in a list. Clicking a client requerys and refreshes some other subforms so the accompanying data for that client is shown. Whenever I double click a record, the "main" window for that "object" opens. So say I double click on client A1 in the summary list, a form opens where I can view all the clients data and change it if necessary. That same form is also used to add clients to the database.

Whenever I change or add a clients data and close the form, the following code is executed:

Which makes the new client appear in the summary list or makes the changed data of an existing client appear in the summary list. That's what I want it to do of course.

But whenever that is done, the cursor jumps back to the first record (client 1) in the summary list. What I would like to have happen is:

- when a new client has been added, keep the cursor on that client in the summary list after the form closes and the list is updated.

- when a record of an already existing client is changed and the form closes, keep the cursor on that client in the list also.

DoCmd.GoToRecord acForm, "ClientsViewSummarySubForm", acLastgives "The object ClientsViewSummarySubForm isn't open. As does the same line of code but then using the name "ClientsViewSummary". The form itself is called that way. The subform object itself goes by: "ClientsViewSummarySubForm".

I've tried some variations but all without succes.
Which line of code is the correct one to use for a subform on a parentform instead of "just" a normal, open form?

Hi guys,

Bit of a problem I'm hoping someone can help with. I have a telephone call logging system. The system is a tabbed form with each tab representing a person's Telephone Call Inbox. As new calls are entered into the database, they appear in each person's inbox until they are marked as dealt with.

This all works fine and there are no problems with the basics of it, but the problem I do have is that after I have split the database into a Back end and a Front end and distributed the Front ends to each user, when a new call is entered it doesn't appear in the persons inbox until they do a requery.

At first I sent the form to requery using the ontimer event, but the problem I have is that after every reqery the form goes back to the first record. A user on the office forum suggested I use the following code:

vCurrent = Me.Bookmark
Me.Requery
Me.Bookmark = vCurrent

But this gives me invalid bookmark errors, so I was then told to add

On Error Resume Next

But this stops the bookmark function working and instead the first record is loaded every 1 minute (as set by my timer).

Can anyone recommend a better way that actually works without invalid bookmark errors?

I have a date/time text field on a form with the General Date format and a combo box next to it that has sequencial times as the row source (IE. 12:45 AM, 1:00 AM, 1:15 AM, 1:30 AM, ETC.) Query Forms Don't Work W/back-end Database

Goal: : To improve an application's performance by basing sub forms and combo

The application has a front and back-end. There is no SQL server involved. I use a module for, seeking out the back-end and automatically linking to the back-end in order that I might be able to provide updates. This has worked for me since first setting everything up.

First let me define what I mean by, “sub form” as to how I am designing my application. I have a number of, what I call, “main (unbound) forms” that are used to open up separate application modules. Each module contains a number of hyperlinks to each of the other application modules. Also, each main form (application module) contains a tab form with bound forms. Therefore, I am calling these lower level bound forms, sub forms and basing them on query files instead of tables. Many of the tables have fields for collecting information across a second form. I did not want to bring back all the fields when they are used in any of the two are three forms bound with the same table.

Problem: When I base either a main form or a sub-form on a query, that particular front-end query form no longer links to the back-end database table via a query file whenever I import everything g into a new/fresh version of the front-end application. Whnever I open one of the query files via the form, I get an error message in each of the fields indicating it can't fine the field even though the table is listed with all the fields. No, I do not have the same problem with forms based on tables.

I suspect that my problem is in what I am calling a main and sub form; and that the main form is really the first level bound form and never the top unbound form if one is used. I have a lot of forms. I just wanted to get some feedback on
my suspicions or find out what else could be the source of my problem before re-doing everything.

Forms :: Set Control Back To Current Field?

So I have a control called txtBranch. If the user does not put 1 of 4 options then a msgbox pops up and says that is an invalid option and then gives all the valid options. It then sets the value to blank. Then it moves to the next field. I do not want it to move to the next field. I want it to stay on txtBRanch till it has a correct value. I have tried DoCmd.GoToControl "txtBranch", Me.txtBranch.SetFocus on the OnExit, OnLostFocus, AfterUpdate events and it still continues to go to the next control how do I get it not to go to the next control?
