Forms :: How To Get Auto Serial Number To Start From 1
Apr 7, 2014
I am working in ms access database form. I have a form with detail section. In detail section i would like to make sr.no field auto increase each time new quotation is created. Using AutoNumber didn't work because because it doesn't start the serial number from 1 for each new quotation.
I have a table called "OrderDetails" with following fields:
Num OrderID (Primary key) Product Quantity Price
I want to create a data entry subform that can used to enter order details in this table such that, for a given OrderID, the Num field is automatically set to previous number + 1. For example, for OrderID = 12, if there are 4 products that need to be entered, the 4 records should automatically take 1 , 2, 3, 4.
I am trying to construct a system in access where I can have a user type in a part number, revision of a part, job number, serial number quantity, and generate a serial number based on the quantity that they need.
I am getting hung up on even how to construct the tables effectively to accomplish this, let alone the forms, queries, etc.
The numbers have to be in the following form. XXXX-XXXX
For an example:
I have part ABC and I need 5 serial numbers.
I need to be able to create a batch of serial numbers automagically that reads like:
9001-0001 9001-0002 9001-0003 9001-0004 9001-0005
Then for the next part XYZ I need 3 serial numbers. It would be constructed like this:
9002-0001 9002-0002 9002-0003
With the goal of eventually being able to search a part number and revision, or a job number and return all serial numbers assigned to that.
I am using an access program with a form with detail section. I would like to create auto sr.No when i am creating a new quotation. Using Autonumber didn't work because it start numbering from last quotation.
Is any body know how to retrieve the manufacturer's hard disk serial No.? I want to use it in my access application to avoid piracy. At present I am useing a code which gives me Volume serial No., which got changed when ever my user format his hard drive. Instead of HDD firmware serial, code for retrieval of any other permanent No. like mother board or CPU firmware serial can help me to solve my problem
Everything is going well, when i make a transc ,transcid generated
i,e 1,2,3,to 47,48,49,50 and so on. In this case there are minimum 50 transaction on daily bases,
Here i have an idea that daily after 11.59pm, I mean after changing date, when I make a transaction, transaction id or sequence no start from 1, and my last day data will also remain safe .
This is what I am trying to accomplish I need to be able to create a serial number which automatically resets every day so I may use it to easily know how many records were created per day, without running a report.
I have an Access2007/SQL Server 2012 system with 20 users for an insurance company. The company does most of its business via a network of vehicle dealers around the country. If someone comes in to buy a motorcycle, boat, or recreational vehicle at a dealership they need insurance to take it home, and our dealers send the quotes to us.
The dealers, in turn, receive payment from us each month for their efforts. Some are paid a % commission on the premium, some are paid for each quote they send regardless of whether the policy actually sells or not, and some are paid a set amount per sold policy. (Yes, that is relevant information!)
We already have reports that tally the amounts due each dealer based on their payment scheme, but last month our bookkeeper had to write about 650 checks manually because the check writing is not automated. She'd look at the report, and then enter name, address, and amount (in digits and words) into Quick Books and print the checks from there, a horribly tedious process. I've been asked to print the checks from Access. Basically one click would print all 650 checks.
I've opted to use a Make Table query to move the commissioned dealers amounts to a single location, and then to run two append queries to add the records from those paid per quote and those paid per policy. At the end of the day, one table contains all the information necessary to print the checks...except one.
The check number.
I need a way to sequentially number each record in the new table with a user generated starting point, the first check number.
By the way, the check blanks are on standard letter sized paper, three to a page, with tear-off perforations to separate them, in case that information has any relevance.
I think the best way to accomplish this is from the report itself. I've created a blank field on each record for the check number, and what seems most logical is that the sequential number is generated on print and written back to the table, rather than just generating all the numbers at once. That way, should print ever be interrupted, it will be easy to take up where we left off.
I am attempting to modify some code that is used for reading content in an Outlook mail and need to catch and move the email if certain content is duplicated in the email.
The code reads the email that is in the attached image format:
As seen, this email contains 2 devices, but the Serial No in both is duplicated.
In the code, I need to capture this and rather than reading the contents, I need to just move this email to a separate "Manual" folder to be dealt with separately, so not to write the information to the database.
The current code is as follows:
Option Explicit Private ns As Outlook.Namespace Private sEmailAddress As String Private sPerson As String Private dReceived As Date
I have two tables that I want to append to each other. But in one of them the date column has the yyyymmdd format and in the other it is a serial date number. How can I make them consistent by either converting yyyymmdd to date number or by converting the date number to yyyymmdd?
Here is my issue. In a table with an Auto Number index some records have been deleted. I have been able to recreate them along with their original auto number. The problem is that I do not know how to append these records forcing the original auto number. I have tried changing the auto number field to a number field in the table, this works except I cannot change it back to auto number.
I am sure I’m not the first with this question or issue. I did search through a couple hundred entries about auto number before I posted this question.
I'm having an issue with the database being read only and a type mismatch due to OpenRecordset. I know this database use to work when it when it was just
CurrentSerNum = RecSet(0) +1 was doing the incrementing.
I need the database to increment in a different way now.
Q=manufacture location 1st number is new=0 or used=1 2nd and third number =82 4th is single digit year aka 2015 = 5 6 and 7th are work week aka 25 for this week 8,9,10 are incremental numbers for the units made that workweek, so 001,002,003. Then week 26 starts the increment starts back at 001.
Code: Private Sub MakeThoseProducts_Click() On Error GoTo Err_MakeThoseProducts_Click Dim NumericSerial As Double Dim WorkWeek As String Dim WorkYear As String Dim WorkWeekNumber As Integer Dim WorkYearNumber As Integer Dim Location As String
I need the auto number to be in specified format as ASI-23-0001. So I added the format "ASI-23-"0000 in the formats and I got it succesfully. The fueld name is "Part Number"
I have added the Part Number field to a form as combo and I was able to list the values in the drop down combo.
I wanted to use Dlookup command in the program to auto fill the next field in the form say "Description".
I am using the following code Me.Text30 = DLookup("[Description]", "item_master", "[Part Number] = Form![Combo36]")
But now the data in the combo is treated as text because of the prefix "ASI-23" and I get data type mismatch error.
I am using Ms Access 2007 and I am new to it..I have table of following fileds
ID (as a primary key)
AccountingYear (Filed for current accounting Year e.g., 14-15; 15-16)
Series (text- as R, Y, B etc to denote series code)
OrderNo (field to store custom autonumber Order No e.g., for Series R-1, R-2, for series Y Y-1, Y-2, etc)
I have created a form using all these fields..Now what i want to do is I want to create custom order no as first 2 digit of accounting year+Series+Autonumber of respective series as
14R-1 14R-2 14Y-1 14Y-2 14Y-3 14B-1
15R-1 15R-2 15Y-1 15Y-2
Means autonumber starts with 1 for every accounting year of respective Series..how to do this and what code or formula should be applied and where the code should be inserted as I am new to Ms access
Hi guys. I have some forms in my access database and i want load one of it automatically when i double click on my access.mdb . I be happy if some one teach me how i can do that. Thanks
Hi How can you set a primary key number (autonumber) to start from a particular number - eg "10000" I have invoices issued from an old accounts package - and am creating a new database to replace it, but do not want to duplicate old invoice numbers. I seem to remember in the past a way of setting this but cant remember - any help please ? Thanks
I am trying to avoid the creation of a lookup table where I know I should be able to calculate this. I need to determine the start and end date of a week number. I did find this post from 2002: http://www.access-programmers.co.uk/forums/showthread.php?t=33116&highlight=start+end+dates+week but it doesn't seem to work.
What I am trying to do is show all projects that were opened at the start of a week number. For example, week 2 is from 1/7/2008 and ends on 1/13/2008 (provided that your week starts in the week that 1/1 occurs and that your week starts on Monday). I need this start date so I can show all projects that started on or before 1/7/2008 and were in an open status.
If I can't calculate this then I will have to create a table and relate the query to it.
I create autonumber as primary key in a table, then i tried to enter a record in that table. Then i deleted it, but when i enter a new record, auto number started with the next number. Ex: i enter a record and autonumber for it is 1. I deleted this record and entered a new record, but i found autonumber is 2. I want the number is 1,
I would like to produce a serial which will have 4 members. The first, the second and the fourth members will be always CAPITAL Letters and the thirth one is always NUMBER.Here is an example for the format: AC3H
Each member will change in any line and never match... I would like to produce it by a button or a button for each one.The last important point for this issue is; I would llike to identfy the total number of serials.
I am calculating number of weeks between start and finish date. Some of the users have questioned the validity of calculation as they are not too sure if this is being calculated as Monday to Friday week or does it work by calculating 7 days. If the latter is true, then I should see a decimal value. I am using date diff formula.
I would like to know if there is any procedure to restrict/stop auto number increment for certain number of record count (say 50), then increment by 1 for next 50 records.
I have a simple database that I put my execptions in for the day for scanning. Is there a way that my serial field on my forum can check to see if someone already scanned that serial for that day using the "On Lost Focus" event.
I'm trying to get the maximum number in a table field to increase it by one depending on the member that is selected in a drop down in a field.
I have three tables: members, programs and times. Each member can have N programs and each program can be broadcast N times.
Each member has a three digit code, like XXX. Each program has the three digit code of the member + three numbers that are supposed to auto increment. That is, the first program of member X with the member code XXX is called XXX001.
What I'm trying to do is that when a new program is filled in and I select the member, then the program code should update automatically, adding one to the latest program by that member.
That is, if the last program by member X that was inserted in the database is XXX010, then if a new program is inserted it should automatically be XXX011, even though programs by other members have been added in between.
This is the code I use now, for the AfterUpdate when selecting the member in a dropdown in the form. But although I've played around a bit, I just get error messages...
Private Sub medlemsruta_AfterUpdate() Dim medlemskod medlemskod = Me![medlemsruta].Column(2)
Dim strMax As String
strMax = DMax("programs_kod", "table_programs", "Left$(programs_kod, 3) = medlemskod") Me!program_kod = Left$(strMax, 3) & Format$(Val(Right$(strMax, 3)) + 1, "000") End Sub
Medlemsruta is a dropdown where one selects the member from the members table, where the three digit code is in the third column (Column(2)).
I'm trying to use DMax to get the maximum number for the particular member and after that adding 1 to that for the new program code.
