I have set up a customer database for our small electronics company and i have built a form called contact history. In the form i show a few details about the customer (name phone number etc) but the bulk of the form is a large text box for a contact log.I would like to have a button on the form that takes me to the contact log field, inserts todays date and allows me to update whats been said to the customer etc. I have it working using setfocus and date functions however it erases any information already in the field. Is there a way to skip to the end of the field and insert a new line, then add the date and allow me to begin typing?I would like the end result to look like the following.
16/02/2013: Introduced Myself and the company, spoke to joe bloggs and agreed to call back on 28/02/2013.
28/02/2013: returned call to Joe Bloggs but was out of office, will call back 01/03/2013.
01/03/2013: Spoke to Joe Bloggs and have arranged for him to visit us on 10/03/2013.

I have a form with two text boxes in which I would like to insert the current date automatically when the text box has got focus. Default value doesn't work because the current date may occur on two different days, and the default has to be null until the current date is inserted.
Can someone walk me through the process? Thank you.

I have a report that displays simple date fields. One of the fields is "lease execution". On the report, I want "lease execution" to display differently depending on the date the report was run.
So:
- If the "lease execution" date is more than 120 days away from today, I want it to display as Q YYYY.
- If the "lease execution" date is between 120 and 90 days away from today, I want it to display as MM/YYYY
- If the "lease execution" date is 90 days or less away, I want it to display the normal date MM/DD/YYYY
I was thinking I would need to do DateDiff() to figure out an amount of days that's between Now() and [Lease_Execution]. Then based on that amount make the report show it differently. Pseudocode would be: if DateDiff() = 40, then display [lease_execution] as MM/DD/YYYY

I am building a database to track contract of employees so that I can know which contracts are valid and which are expired.
My table has the following fields:
ID (Primary key)
Employee ID (Foreign key to link to the employee table)
Start_Date
End_Date
Status (Either valid or expired)
Challenge
I want when I enter the end date, the system checks the end date against the current date and fills in the status field with either valid or expired as appropriate. For instance if the contract end date is March 10,2016, the status must be filled in the word valid.

Looking to create two command buttons or two keystrokes sets in an Access 2007 form that will allow me to place a current date and time in any allowable field where the Cursor is presently placed. Similar to what was in Access 2000, ctl: (for the current date) and ctl shift : (for the current time).

What I really need is for when the form opens, it looks at todays date, then matches current user and then goes to that record for today, if no current user there, then will goto new record..
i know, sounds complicated, and probably is really easy, but my heads not with it today, as about to get drunk as its my 40th, and got people ringing and texting and still trying to get this done....
I've included a copy of this database, named Timecards..

I have an application that has a text box on a form that points to a memo data type.
On the form, I wish to allow the users to insert the system date with a short-cut key. (Trying to use Ctrl-D).
I have coded a Keypress Event that checks for the Ctrl-D. "Current" code is below:
===============================
Private Sub PM_Comments_KeyPress(KeyAscii As Integer)
Dim MyString As String
Dim MyDate As Variant
'Check to see if user pressed Ctrl-D
If KeyAscii = 4 Then
MyDate = Date
MyString = Format(MyDate, "Short Date") & ":"
SendKeys ("") ' Perhaps I need to dump the Ctrl-D in the buffer???
SendKeys (MyString)
End If
End Sub
==================================
I say current because I have tried MANY variations. The code is executing properly on the Ctrl-D. I have watched the variables in debug mode and they contain what I want, namely "mm/dd/yy:" for the current date. Problem is, it inserts the TIME in the memo field. And it is the system time, not the integer of the date formatted into the time.
Crazy thing is, in debug mode, the darn thing will do what I want and insert the date in the VB editor page. Just won't do it in the memo field on the form.

We have a memo field that we use for on going notes.
Each day they may type more notes.
Is there a shortcut key, a button, or a way to automatically enter the date
and time before the notes?

I am building an Access database for a client. It is an employee staffing database. With that being said they would like the ability to automatically populate the "T2PPCD" date field based on what is entered into the "Report Date" field. (Same table)
The date is the Monday after 180 days from the report date.
I already know how to get it to auto fill 180 days from the "Report Date" but I'm not sure how to tell it to give me the Monday after 180 days.

I have a form with date/time field. I have the default value at =Now(). My problem is I would like for this particular field to stay with the current date/time all the time. I mean if I created a form last week with the date/time of 3/14/2005 12:54:34 PM and go back to the same form to edit something this week I would like for that particular date/time to be the current date/time and not the date/time from the week and time the original form was created.
Thanks for any help!

I have a text field called Notes - where we will add notes about the particular job. What I want to do is have it a locked field with a button 'Add Notes'. When clicked it will insert the date and the user name of the person and then let them type the notes. When they move to the next record - I want that field to be locked again.
I've got some of it down but still not right. I can get it so it inserts the date but it overwrites what is already there. How can I get it to just add the data - not overwrite? And I can't get it to lock when they move to the next record.
Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks,
Jason

We use access to enter our service tickets in at work. What we have are three date fields.
Call Date
Start Date
End Date
We are 24/7 operation.Currently all 3 just autopopulate with the current date. What i would like to do is ADD a CHECKBOX next to each Date Field. And make it work like this.
1. let them autopopulate as they are currently
2. if you end the call AFTER MIDNIGHT (the next day). CHECKING the box would automatically populate yesterdays date in each of the fields that has the check box CHECKED

I am using Access 2007 and I have had a curious issue arise.
I like to use the Date Picker feature on all my forms to make it easier to enter dates. I have set up each table's date field property to "show date picker for dates", as per attached (.jpg)
When I use that particular field in a form, I also set up the field to allow for the Date Picker option (date picker form property sheet.jpg)
The curious part is that not every form that I set up actually shows the date picker when I select the date field. Some forms it works perfectly, others it doesn't.

Hi. I have two forms that both look at the same table. One form is for inputting data and the second for is for closing the job. I want to create a button that when clicked automatically changes a field on the input form and also fills in the current date on a field displayed on the closeout form. I then want it exit my two forms and take me back to my switchboard. Can anyone out there help?..Thanks.

On my form have a status field with about 7 options to choose from a combo box, i have these values set in another table. What i would like is for my other field, which is a date, to automatically change whenever the status field is changed. So i know how long ago the status field was set. So basically if i change the status to complete i want the date to then set the date and time now.

Working in MS Access 2010. Data must be entered and updated in Access only. Trying to figure out if it's even possible to auto populate dates in multiple fields in a form that are triggered when I enter ANY date in a primary date field on the form. I have close to half a dozen fields I'd like to do this for but here are a couple of the fields I'm working with:
Re Insp Date 90 Day Notice(Form field to be triggered and show a date 90 days prior to the trigger date)
Re Insp Date 60 Day Notice (Form field to be triggered and show a date 60 days prior to the trigger date)
Re Insp Date (Trigger date)
What I'd like to do is enter values in the "Re Insp Date" field (in the form) and have it trigger/auto-fill/auto-populate the "Re Insp Date 90 Day Notice" so that it shows the date 90 days prior to the "Re Insp Date" and the "Re Insp Date 60 Day Notice" so that it shows the date 60 days prior to the "Re Insp Date"........all this, and have it auto-update the queries and tables its linked to.
I've tried looking online and in instructional material to see if there is a formula, equation, macro, an expression or VBA coding that I can use to execute this but am having no luck.
The MAIN OBJECTIVE is to have the the linked query and table update automatically. Possible??
I have tried doing =([Re Insp Date])-90 but no dice...

Does anyone know how to automatically enter the current date into a specified field by simply clicking on a check box. I imagine the IIf function would work when entered into 'Control Source' but I also need the check box to be linked to the underlying table.
i.e. I tick the 'Paid' checkbox and the current date is automatically entered into the 'Date Sold' field. I also need the -1 generated by clicking on the checkbox to be stored in the table.
Any suggestions would be appreciated, although I am no good with code, so if you could post an example or an easier way to do it I would be most grateful

I am trying to figure out to have the current date populate in table field by using a button on a form and not having much luck.
I have a table with 2 date fields, a 'created' field and a 'received' field. I already have the date set to auto populate for the 'created' field but I don't want the 'received' field to populate until the employee has gone into the database to receive the work.
I know I could have the employee just enter the date, but i want to avoid any typos or people simply forgetting to do it.
Ideally I would love the button to enter the current date into the 'received' field and save the entry, but I fine it needs to be 2 seperate buttons.

I want to create a form that will update several tables at the same time.A field that is important in each table is "ID" and "DATE" date being the current date the record is being created and ID is the Unique ID of user creating the record. These 2 fields should be incorporated in the different tables without the user having to identify himself every day or to add the date all the time ( I want the system date to be automatically used)
