View RepliesI am investigating on the possibility of setting up an approval process for our employee intake procedure by using MS Access and Outlook.
The idea is for the requester to open an intake form in Access and fill in the new employee's information and send an Outlook email to the manager for approval. I know how to trigger off an event on the form to send an email to the manager but my challenge is how to create a hyperlink in the email for the recipient to directly open the intake form with the specific record, without the need to open the database and find the specific intake form.
The intake form is built in a frontend .mde file on a shared drive where all users have access to.
We are using access 2010, I have a blank form that produces an ID number for the specific record when saved. then i have other forms where the ID field is hyperlinked to the original form that was entered. I now have 2 users that are unable to open the hyperlinked form. when i login as them im able to open the hyperlinked form.
Private Sub ID_Click()
On Error GoTo Error_Catcher_1
DoCmd.OpenForm "NewRequestForm", , , "ID= " & Me.ID, acFormEdit

Hello,
I have a MS Access form with a few hyperlinks on it. I have tried to achieve effect similar to hyperlink roll over effect on a web page: when mouse pointer goes over a hyperlink it changes colour, etc.
Unfortunately, all I could find was MouseMove event:
Sub Label_MouseMove
Label.ForeColour=vbBlue
End Sub
But in this case hyperlink stays blue even after mouse pointer leaves it. And I would like hyperlink get back it's initial colour.
Thank you
I've set hyperlinks to a couple of forms using the hyperlink address in properties. All works fine, and I've done it this way because the cursor changes to pointy hand when hovering over.
However, I need to navigate to a tabbed form in a main form.
Is there a way of doing this? I've been searching all sorts, and the most probable is to concatenate the destination?
description##Page1#page2... or something like that?
Is this correct?
What ever I've tried doesn't work, this includes ...
adding the main form destination to Hyperlink Address, and tabbed form in the SubAddress (Can't find main form)
Using the hyperlink builder. (Can't find anything)
Objects in this database (Only one form).
i have a table of calls, with a field called "link to file".
i have a form where staff fill in their calls and when they have completed the call there is an option to insert a hyperlink to where the file is stored.
i previosuly had an attachemnt there but the database would just grow and grow so now its prefered there is a link to where the files are kept.
i just dont know how to set it up, i have tried adding in a text field and setting it to hyperlink which does work but on the form the user has to right click the button and edit hyperlink to place it in - is there an easier way of just clicking the button and it brings up a folder location where you select the file and it saves it as a hyperlink into the table under linked to file?
I want to hyperlink from a query direct to the relevant record in a specific form. I have a hyperlink field in the form which shows up in the query. When clicked in the query, this hyperlinks to the form but I cannot make it select the correct record in the form.How do I get it to select the correct record?
View 3 Replies View Relatedi have thousands of data records with hyperlinks that are correct. Each data record shows the actual link (google.com, foxnews.com, espn.com, etc.). However, i want to change all of the records to just say "link" instead of saying espn.com, etc. How can i do this automatically without having to manually right click, edit, and changing the text to display?
View 6 Replies View RelatedI have a very experienced colleague who has Access 2013 and has the following issue:
For some reason, Access keeps recapitalizing the first character of the field names when I save, close, and reopen the table in design view! I just spent several hours lower casing prefixes only to discover after I ran a routine to extract the field names that they had been recapitalized!
I've fiddled with turning off Autocorrect, but that seems to do nothing positive for me. How to turn this feature OFF?
I started off with a blank form and added a command button, three labels and a text box. None of these are bound to anything.
The sole purpose of this form is to show the progress of a VB script I've written that retrieves all the table names and the number of records contained in each. This information is also exported to Excel.
Everything works great apart from the log I'm producing inside the text box. This log is just a replica of what is being exported to Excel. Once the log reaches a length of 1,837 characters, it fails to have anything else added to it. The code below is where I have an error returned.
Code:
Me.LogList1.Text = Me.LogList1.Text & vbCrLf & tdf.Name & "|" & intRecCount
The error I receive is "Run-time error '2176': The setting for this property is too long.". From what I've read elsewhere though, an unbound text box is meant to have a character limit of a good few thousand. Around 60,000 from what I remember.
I did try a few other options such as using a label or a listbox but they weren't great. The label doesn't support a scroll bar and if the text goes past the size of the label it doesn't scroll down by default. A list box worked but I want the user to be able to copy the text after in-case the Excel report doesn't work for whatever reason.
I could possibly setup a table with a single field set to 'memo' and bound the text box to that. I don't know if that works though as I don't want to have to create an extra table. This form is to be used across other databases when required and this solution would add an unnecessary table to the list (which I could code out) and also means the table has to be exported to the other database along with the form.
Why my text box is limited to around 1,837 characters?
I have a series of dates that I inherited from former DB. Some of the dates are Mon-Fri, Mon-Thu, Sun-Fri, etc. That is, there is a hyphen "-" in the middle of the text. I have an unbound control with an IIF statement using the LIKE condition, I just get an error. I tired the following to no avail. Using Access 2010.
IIF([Day1] Like "*-*", 5, 1)
IIF([Day1] like "-", 5, 1)
IIF ([Day1] like '-', 5, 1)
IIF ([Day1] like [-], 5, 1)
I've looked it up and the hyphen _ is used as a wild card character, but I need to include it just as a dash.
Is it possible?
I want a link that can be put in a mail (to someone in our network) and clicked. It should open Access on a specific database and I should be able to use parameters (like /cmd and /wrkgrp).
I'm lost... :confused:
I created a hyperlink that links to a zip file. But when I use IE to browse the page, I cannot see "save target as" after right clicking the hyperlink. Why? Thank you very much for any help.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI have a table with one field set as a hyperlink. I have to generate the hyperlink according to what else is going on in the record, I do this by assembling a text string which I can write to a text field in the same record. I have no problem doing this but when I try to copy that string into the Hyperlink field I get type mismatch. Incidentally if I put two text boxes on a form and bind one to the text and one to the hyperlink field the I can 'cut and paste' it OK so how come I can't do it with Access basic?
Dim stGunlib As String
Dim stGunlib2 As String
stGunlib2 = [Stock number]
stGunlib = "www.shooting.uk.com/Gunlibrary/" + stGunlib2 + ".jpg"
[Link] = stGunlib
[Picture] = stGunlib ([Picture] is a hyperlink field) it goes wrong here
I am using Access 2002
Thanks Dennis

View 4 Replies View RelatedI copied my data from MSAccess which one of the fields is a hyperlink field into excel. Well, the field contains text reading "FileA" but the hyperlink is dbfilesFileA.doc. Since I have it in Excel now, I want to be able to just have the data read "FileA.doc" instead of FileA, I thought if I can get the field to read the hyperlink path dbfilesFileA.doc then I can maybe use the Mid formula to take out dbfiles....
View 1 Replies View RelatedIs it possible to have a text box momentarily show the character that is input, and then hide it with a dot (or similar)?
This is for password input so that users can see momentarily, but others won't be able to.
I am trying to filter data in a table using vba where I have a split form setup. My goal is to filter data where the user can input a character such as "a" for the "FirstName" field and have results from the table filtered with persons first name that starts with "a". Here is my code so far one of the text boxes.
Private Sub txtFirstName_DblClick(Cancel As Integer)
If Me.Filter = "" Then
'Compares the values that begin with the input values in txtFirstName
'text box from the table field name FirstName
Me.Filter = FirstName & " LIKE '" & txtFirstName & "*'"

I get a error in the else statement and please note that I am linking this form to an sql server so I can not delete or modify existing data in the table.
HI All,
I have scoured the net and these forums looking for the answer but cannot find a good solution.
I am producing flow charts in Visio, and then saving them as HTML documents for use on our Intranet. Within the Visio flow diagrams I am using Hyperlinks on various shapes and text, to enable the viewer to open various other documents in various other applications. This seems to work fine in my web browser for normal office documents, like word and excel, but I need to be able to do it for MS Access databases too! Because the web browser tries to open it in the browser itself, the database won't open and I just get the normal "Web Page Could not be found" screen.
Another useful feature would be to be able to open to a number of different specific forms from a database, depending on which hyperlink is clicked. I assume this is not possible as you only seem to be able to define on page to be displayed upon opening the DB. Am I correct?
Any assistance would be greatly appreciated.
I'm trying to create a pdf report displaying records in a columns, with each record having its own hyperlink. Rather than displaying the actual hyperlink, which is quite long, I'd like to portray a friendly_field like in Excel (Hyperlink("Link"). Hyperlinkpart doesn't seem to do this.Is there a formula I can create in a query where I can reference each individual hyperlink but show it as a "friendly_field" such as "Link"?
View 3 Replies View RelatedHow do I restrict access to the database while still being able to add a new hyperlink? I tried deselecting the "display navigation pane" option. But when I do this I am unable to add/edit a hyperlink in a form - when I right-click the only option I get is "add to favorites" rather than "edit", etc.
View 8 Replies View RelatedI created a table about films and i made a form so i can see each movie in a different record. I wanted to create a button which generates a link to the movie's internet website. But when i create a button i cant put a different hyperlink for each record of the form.
My idea is the button to have a logo of the site so that is why i cant just put a link in a text box. I also tried embedding a hyperlink to a picture but again i had the same problem.. there was only one hyperlink for all the records .
MS Access 2000 - Quite simply, on a form I have an Email field and I have the "Is Hyperlink" property set to yes. In the On-Click event of this email field I use this single line of code below to open a new outlook (2007) email with the address already entered. Staff will be entering the email address themselves as part of the clients contact details Form.
Code:
FollowHyperlink "mailto: " & [Email]
This is all fine, however access also tracks [URL] .... onto the end of the email address and tries to also open a web page which obviously fails.
Is there something somewhere I can tweak that tells access to always only treat the text in this field as an email address, and when clicked open an email?
I would like to know if it is possible in Access 2007 to add a button/hyperlink where by the order number (as in the example below) is being sourced from another field [ORDNR]
i.e. replacing the 0996653 for example with a lookup to the ordernumber held in another column?!
[URL] .....
this link is one from a web url - I want to copy this in my DB.
I have a field in a Table (tblMainFile) named "File Location" which contains a hyperlink for each of the files.I have a continuous form (from a query) which displays information from the tblMainFile table.the form shows a text box (with the hyperlink) which is clickable to take them to the link location.I would like to have a button which says (GET FILE) or a different text box which simply says "Get File" as opposed to the entire hyperlink.
View 6 Replies View RelatedI have been searching the forums and all I could find was how to hyperlink to outside url such as www.google.com and likewise.
I am looking for some kind of code or a direction that will help me hyperlink between records in my form.. best method probably would be using an ID number.
Any ideas?
