I have a linked Excel graph in my form. The process I go though to update them is:
User clicks on button
Excel opens up
Procedure in Excel runs that updates the data and the graphs
Excel Closes
The user does not see any of that. This process works fine. But the linked graph does not actually update in the Access Form. To do that I run the following code:
Code:
Set ctl = Me!OLEUnbound_pream
With ctl
' Enable control.
.Enabled = True
' Set Locked property to False.
.Locked = False
' Set Verb property to activate for editing, but not visible
.Verb = acOLEVerbShow
.Action = acOLEActivate
End With
The problem I get is that once .Action = acOLEActivate is ran, Excel opens. I don't understand why it does that and how do I close it.
I'm trying to have a linked Excel chart in Access form. What I've done so far is create a chart in Excel and Paste Special>>Linked into Access.
I also have code inside Excel that will update chart data, it works fine.
Then I have code in Access that calls the code in Excel to update the data.
The data gets updated fine and the chart in Excel gets updated but the chart in Access only gets updated if I close and open the form again.
Here is the code that will update the Excel Data
Public Sub Import_VRSS_Graph_Data(strDayType As String, strTimeBand As String, strEntrance As String, Ws As Worksheet) ' Create a connection object. Dim cnPubs As ADODB.Connection Set cnPubs = New ADODB.Connection ' Provide the connection string. Dim strConn As String
I have an access database with a linked table to an Excel spreadsheet. I have a form based on the linked table so the presentation of the Excel date is better. The spreadsheet is used by other staff in my office to record sales which I need to register with an external organisation. What I want to do is update the spreadsheet with the registration date from my access form rather than going back into excel to do it.
I have a excel table (lets say the format is as follows)
col1 col2 dataset1 value1 dataset2 value2
(where col1 and col2 are the column names and dataset x and value x are the respective data values of each column) I have a access form and it has a combo box and a text box From Combo box I need to retrieve data available in col1 o excel once a particular dataset in col1 has been selected by Combo box the respective value in col2 should be displayed in text box in access form.
I was trying to create a linked table in excel to access ( I don't want to export data from excell to access since my excell sheet is getting changing time to time. so i don't need to change the access table every time)
for combo box a simple query like below works to select the col1 values from sheet 1
select col1 from Sheet1 (where Sheet1 is the linked table name in access)
I wrote a code similar to below using DLookup to get respective values from col2 however it gives a error '#Name?
I am trying to export the result of a query to a specific Excel sheet where I have a dynamic graph. The results are exported on a monthly basis, so I am just adding the data, and the graph reflects that. Now, I can export to excel easily enough by using the Transfer Spreadsheet method, but this creates a new worksheet, thus destroying my lovely graph. I have even tried the Output Query method, but to no avail. Is there any way I can export to excel and keep the graph intact?
i have a combo box in a form, where one has to select a country for example UK is chosen, then there is a button that when clicked it opens in a pop-up form and displays all the information related to UK.
so there are two tables : Country (CountryNo : primary key) linked to CountryInfo (CountryNo: foreign key) linked with a one- to -many relationship.
my problem is when you have to add new records to the form CountryInfo, how can i make the foreign key update automatically? thus when adding data to CountryInfo, the CountryNo must be the same to the CountryNo in the CountryTable..
I am trying to update the range for the graph automatically and I'm calling this from Access because my data exists in Access. I've attached a sample file.what I am trying to do:
1) click on the button 2) button will update the usedrange in "trending" tab 3) have the graph's data range based on the usedrange.
Code:
Dim xlApp As Object Set xlApp = CreateObject("Excel.Application") xlApp.Visible = True xlApp.Workbooks.Open "C:Documents and SettingsgjiaDesktopmetric_DEV.xlsx", True, False
[code]...
note: the columns will grow bigger to the right, which is dynamic, so I've used usedrange method, but the code fails on the usedrange line saying the object or method is not being supported...
I have an excel file linked to a table in Access. Several fields are date data types in excel but are showing up as text fields in Access.
My real goal is to do a comparison between two tables, but only if the date of the one piece of data is newer than the other. I had planned on comparing the two date fields but even though I have formatted the date fields in my excel file to be "Date", when I look at the design view of my table it is showing up as "Text" and therefore I am unable to do this comparison.
I'm not sure if it's just something that I'm missing but maybe someone else knows an easy fix to this. I know this is probably a simple question, but I did search the forum and didn't find a thread that specifically dealt with this issue.
I have a form that contains the following: Combobox, (Lists BadgeNum from tblPersonnel)
2 Textboxes (LastName, FirstName) populated via code from the combobox using info from the same tblPersonnel. 2 labels (one containing Date, another containing Time) ToggleOnButton (Valueof 1) ToggleOffButton (Value of 0) Savebutton
This form is basically used as a cheap police timeclock. All Im trying to do is when a user chooses their name from the combobox, clicks ON or OFF and then save, is just write the much of the same info to a table. Specifically, BadgeNum, DateIn, TimeIn, DateOut, TimeOut.
how i can export the data from Access to excel using Access VBA for the specified sheet using data linkage with access database. Like we used to do it manually in excel as external data from access.Like we have some codes for linking excel file to database mentioned below;
Can we have something like this to link database table in excel file automatically.So that the excel size won't be that big and also it saves processing time.
I created a number of graphs on forms that graph GamesSold vs RDate. If a game has no sales, there won't be any data. Is there a way I can add a label that will automatically display "Game is not yet released" and make it dependant upon the graph having data, and invisible if it does?
I'm currently working on a project that calls for a graph that is based on an equation which the users can change while in the database.
the equation is basically an annual compound interest formula: 65*(1+x)^([YearNumber]-1), where x is the rate of change as a decimal, and what the users can change.
I've tried to use a simple query with this equation as one of the expressions, where the x is displayed as [Rate as decimal], but when I do this, I get an error on the table: the database engine does not recognize [Rate as Decimal] as a valid field name or expression.
I've also tried tying the equation to an unbound text box on a form called "RateasDecimal", with a button that opens the form with the graph on it, but I get the same error - except [Rate as Decimal] is replaced with "forms!form1!RateasDecimal".
is it possible to create a graph like this in access.
When I go into design view of an Excel linked table, it tells me that I can't change some properties. When I change the format of a field from Text to Number (and from Long Integer to Integer), a dialog box informs me that the property won't be changed but saves the changes anyway?
I have 2 table currently linked together using a one to many relation. Rather than manually updating the information each day in table 2, i want the same format of data but using a linked excel sheet. This way the information can just be updated elsewhere by the excel sheet. I can't seem to get the sheet to link in the one to many way though, just intermediate. Is this possible?
Just wondering, is it possible to have an excel file, which is a export data from an Access db query, and whenever I open this excel file, it'll automaticallly run the query and get the most updated data? If so, What do I need to do in order to link the excel file to the query?
I am using Excel and Access 2002. I have linked an excel file in Access. It is my understanding that if I add a new record in Excel it will automatically add it to Access and vise-versa. This is not working for me. I can add to one or the other and it will not display in both excel and access. I can manually add to both and access will display all data from both the database the table in access and the linked excel file. Any Ideas?
Hi, apologies if this is a bit of a simplistic query, but I hope there is an equally simple solution to it.
I'm trying to set up a database which is linked to an excel spreadsheet so that the owner of the spreadsheet can continue updating the spreadsheet (inexplicably he refuses to learn to use access!), while other people can still view the data without being able to edit it.
However I have come up against a problem. The spreadsheet contains various address fields, and some of these fields only contain numbers, such as Zip codes for US address'. When I link the table access automatically assigns the address fields as "text" fields which is fine, but then any entry that is just a number in the spreadsheet appears in the database as #Num!
Does anyone know how I might cure this problem, so the database displays exactly what is in the cells in the spreadsheet? The simpler the better, since I fear it might need some visual basic work, which as you might have gathered I know very little about.
Does anyone know why when i have a link excel spreadsheet in my access database i am not able to edit the data? I have a copy of the database on my laptop and it works fine, i can edit and add data but the office copy which is on the network it will not let me edit the linked spreadsheet in access. I have an update query that updates a field in the linked excel table but it no longer works. I dont think there is any special permissions on the files. It is sooo frustrating... dont know what to do.
I'm trying to link a spreadsheet as a table in Access 2002. The link wizard is importing my number columns as numbers, even though I defined them as text. I need for them to be text in Access. How do I force this?
I linked an Excel table and now, in both the table and report, the cell is limiting itself to 255 characters, even though the Excel cell has more. I checked the "data type" and it says "memo" but it keeps truncating to "text".
Where is this limit coming from and can I change the linked table so it won't truncate the text?
I have a Table in my Db that is a link to an Excel spreadsheet. Of around 200 records just one is giving me a problem, in one field.
The Excel SS itself is the result of links to about 8 other SSs
The problematic field is a part number and is formatted as text, in the linked table and the underlying SSs. But this one bl**dy field which should be '1707' is shown as "#Num!" Which suggests to me Access thinks it is an number.
Other linked cells like "12345" are fine ???
I have tried putting a letter infront and it then works correctly. Remove the letter, back to "#Num!" again!
Can anyone suggest a way of forcing the formatting to text please?
Hi all. I have an excel spreadsheet that pulls company information off of our internal system that is linked to an access database table (let's call it "General"). The General information is current and is updated within our internal system (but through the Access side will not need to be updated), however, I have a separate table (let's call it "Detail") that has information (employment, revenue numbers) that I want users to input through access. The two tables are joined through a relationship, however, b/c General is a linked table I am a) unable to assign a primary key and b) unable to edit the Detail information in a form view. I know this is related to Microsoft's limitation on excel linked table, but I was wondering if there is a way around it besides copying the General data into an access table. Would be grateful for any help!
I have a file "MatchingData" thats linked to another file "Clist" . What I'm looking for to open "MatchingData" and update from "Clist" on opening. I don't know if I can do this without opening "CList". I have a feeling that I may have to open the "CList" (Hidden), update,then close "CList".
I have a database that links to an excel sheet and take data from it. For a fail safe i put deletes in several places in case of user error to make sure the sheet is deleted. If it is already deleted the other deletes don't act well.
I need to write a conditional iff statement that if it doesn't exist it ignores the delete call. Not sure how to structure it.
Private Sub Command3_Click() DoCmd.DeleteObject acTable, "Sheet1" DoCmd.Close acForm, "District Select Form" End Sub
