Oct 27, 2014I have unbound TextBox in continuous form and I would like that it never get focus. In property I specified Enabled=No and Locked=Yes. But it doesn't work.

Dec 17, 2014I have a continuous form with a number of unbound fields and bound fields. However, I would like to sum an unbound fields (Text28). Text28 is an unbound calculated field based on another calculated unbound field (Text22). I would like to sum Text28 in the footer or somewhere in the form.
Here are the codes for my field:

Dec 30, 2014use a continuous form to allow users to quickly enter any number of records. One of the fields in this continuous form is an ID (not a foreign key, actually not a key in the database but crucial for other purposes) which is incremental from the last one stored in a table.
I am able to use a combo box and a query to get the ID but I cannot save the value to the text box on the first record, and then requery and get the next id when the user moves onto the next record..and so forth..

Jun 15, 2006From another forum, I found a way to kind of sort of use an unbound continuous form.
Create the form with no recordsource.
But create the textboxes with a recordsource of the field name where the data is going to come from.
in Form_Load you open a recordset, then set me.form.recordset = rs.
The form is not actually bound to the table or query, but to a copy of the records in the recordset. It is read-only.
To get around it being read-only I want the user to click on the field they want to change. This opens up a editable text box where they can change the text. I then do an update sql to update the source table.
But the recordset still shows the old value. So I have tried to do a me.form.requery. The first time it appears to work. The form has the updated value, but more often than not, all the records after the first seem to be dead, the click event does nothing.
If I had edited the first record, more often than not, all the fields in all the records will say "#Name?"
Any ideas what is happening?

Continuous Form With Unbound Check Box?
Jul 7, 2005hi guys, i have a continuous form with a check box and a button on each record's row.
now if i dont bind the check box to a control source when you tick it, it gets ticked for each record, i am using the tick box to pass a state to the button ( uses an if statement ) so that it will done different things if it is ticked when the button is pressed.
can anyone help me to get this to work without having to bind the check box to a control source?

I have a Continuous subform based on a query based on few linked tables.One of those tables has a Yes/No field which shows in the subform.
I want to be able to change the status of this field for each record independently, so I placed an unbound check box in the subform Detail section and a Command button on the subform Header section. However when I click one record check box, all of them change, I did not expect that. How do I move forward to get this done?

Feb 17, 2015I started off with a blank form and added a command button, three labels and a text box. None of these are bound to anything.
The sole purpose of this form is to show the progress of a VB script I've written that retrieves all the table names and the number of records contained in each. This information is also exported to Excel.
Everything works great apart from the log I'm producing inside the text box. This log is just a replica of what is being exported to Excel. Once the log reaches a length of 1,837 characters, it fails to have anything else added to it. The code below is where I have an error returned.

The error I receive is "Run-time error '2176': The setting for this property is too long.". From what I've read elsewhere though, an unbound text box is meant to have a character limit of a good few thousand. Around 60,000 from what I remember.
I did try a few other options such as using a label or a listbox but they weren't great. The label doesn't support a scroll bar and if the text goes past the size of the label it doesn't scroll down by default. A list box worked but I want the user to be able to copy the text after in-case the Excel report doesn't work for whatever reason.
I could possibly setup a table with a single field set to 'memo' and bound the text box to that. I don't know if that works though as I don't want to have to create an extra table. This form is to be used across other databases when required and this solution would add an unnecessary table to the list (which I could code out) and also means the table has to be exported to the other database along with the form.

I want to show some text from another table based on the values of the bound fields in each record of a continuous form. I thought it would be easy, but I can't get it to work.
I step through the records in the bound recordset and use some of the values to query another table. Then I use the value from the query to populate the unbound text field.
It works fine for each record. But every time the unbound field is updated, all the records in the continuous form are updated.
I'm stuck on this one. It's probably something simple to fix - if you know what to do!
Do you have any suggestions?

I have table with a list of peoples login names and a query filtering these names once a user logs in. If the GetUserName() matches one of the names in the table then user is authorised. this part seems to be working fine. User not on the GetUserName() list the filter says blank ie Not Authorized.
How to take this confirmed user name and place it into a textbox on a form?
Table name: [tblUserNames] with [IngEmpID] & [UserName]
Query Name: [qryUserNames] with a Criteria GetUserName()
Forms :: Adding Two Unbound Textbox Date Pickers?
May 8, 2014I'm using Access 2007 and building a form with controls that will be used to query one of the tables in my database. To pull back results from this table between two dates I have used the "Add Fields" method to drag and drop two textbox date pickers onto the form from the list of available fields. Both of these controls are bound to the same date field in the underlying table.
Will this cause problems when a user attempts to select two different dates on the form? Will a date on the first control be mirrored on the second control and vice versa? Should I remove these bound controls and add two unbound textbox date pickers in their place?
I also need to ensure that the date selected on the second control is the same or later than that on the first.
Update Textbox On Continuous Form Detail ??
Mar 2, 2005Right. I have a textbox say called TextA which is bound to COl A of my table THis table is being shown as continous forms (ie a set of ros in the detail section) and for each row I want to use a VB function to calculate another value from TextA and update the Value attribute of TextB.
I can't for the life of me figure out which event I can use to trigger this function so that EVERY row of the detail section has this function applied to it. I do NOT want to ahve to mouseover or click on etc any fields, I want it all to be calculated when the form has done loading. So far the best I can come up with is OnCurrent, which is no damn use at all - it does the first record and then once loaded the record which has focus.
Please please help - I've got a long night ahead of me and this is due to be finished am tomorrow - argh!

General :: Continuous Form With Textbox Record?
May 15, 2014I'm building a database to control projects of new products for a company, the flow is easy:
-Step 1: Record the general information in a main table (db_master_info) (i.e. project name, description, date of launch, etc.)
- Step 2: Record the product codes in a detail table (db_units) (i.e. product codes and quantities)
-Step 3: Record monthly information like, production and sales forecast in the detail table (db_units)
-Step 4: Build a monthly stock equation(production minus sales forecast) and record a comment, in a comment table (db_comments), about the results.
The steps 1,2,3 and 4 I did successfully!
The step 5, I'm unable to think outside of the box!
I drew a sketch (form_stock and comments.jpg attached) that might be a possible solution...
Use a continuous subform with a unbound textbox with VBA to load record and edit/update???

Apr 16, 2015I have a continuous form with a text field that says "Select". There are two other fields, one of which is Brand. When the Brand Combo box has nothing in it I want the text box to appear (instructing the user to select a Brand) But once the user selects a Brand and goes to the next records, I would like the "Select" in only that record to become not visible. I tried conditional formatting but can't apply that to an unbound control ( or at least it is grayed out when I select the text box) and any other possible solutions I have found changes all of the selects - not only the one in the changed record.

Sep 6, 2013I am working on a change control database where the users can enter a new version for the software they just released and send out a notification to the appropriate persons. I have a form where the user can select a combobox to pick the software version, which is bound to my "Releases" table. From the software version I use a DLookup in VBA to change the value of a another unbound text box using:

This all works fine when I'm entering data in the form, but if I want to print the form, the unbound text box on each page is only calculated from the first record. The same thing happens if I build a report with the same fields and code.
For example: In print preview the text box on page 1 should say "Cat" based on the current record and the text box on page 2 should say "Dog". However, they both say "Cat"
How do I get the text box to display the new value on each page?

User enters an amount into a textbox2, and then it does some calculations that involves textbox1 and textbox2. Finally, textbox3 has the final answer. Can textbox3 overwrite textbox1's data on the table and on the form?
Also, is there an "auto date" feature in tables? If new data is put into tables, Today's date appears on the date column?
Updating Unbound Textbox On Form Per Record Viewed
Jan 23, 2006Hey, I am trying to figure out how to update an unbound textbox on a form to reflect conditional data in other boxes when each record is viewed (pages works with reports but I cant find something similar with forms). such as if I had an unbound textbox that I want to = firstname+" "+lastname I would want for it to update it every time a user goes to the next record.. I can't seem to figure out a command or method that executes every time someone goes to the next record.. I am trying to get the number of months an employee has/had worked.
In the table are two dates, Company Start Date, and Resignation Date.
There are three scenarios in which I need to calculate the months:No Resignation Date
A Resignation Date in the future
A Resignation Date in the Past

I originally tried using DateDiff in the Control Source, but the IIF seamed too limited for my needs.

I have a main form "frm_main", and a subform "tbl_main" in continuous form which is linked to the table "tbl_main".
I want to be able to click on the record, then the infor will appear in textbox on the main form. I also want to be able to change the value in the textbox and on after update, it will update that record on the subform as well.
So far, in the frm_main Current, I have added the code:

So now, what code should I add to the After update of the textbox to find the current selected to update back the value of the textbox to the selected record?
