Forms :: Omitting Records From A Combo Box?

Aug 3, 2015

I have an update form where a fail is displayed. The user can, using a combo box, change that fail. They can also add new records and pick the fail from the combo box.

The form is bound to query1 and the control source for the combo box is a field from this query which effectively come from a table, table1 The row source is another query, query2, that displays all fails. This works perfectly fine.

I now have a requirement not to display fails that have become redundant in the combo box (row source) but want to display them from query1 (control source). If I filter out the redundant fails in query2 then those that are on table1 are not displayed.

I presume this is because they don't appear in query2.

Omitting Unwanted Results

Apr 26, 2005

I have an inventory checklist being done up now.
After the item info has been typed in (price, part number.. ), below i put in the transaction info (4 sold today, 2 recieved yesterday..)

I need by report to show the total number of all stocks and how much they are all worth.
The report does that, no problem.
Only thing is that instead of the end product,
Eg: Product X, 5 pieces, $10

it also prints the transactions in the report.
Eg: Product X 4 pieces, $8
Product X -1 piece ($2)
Product X 2 pieces, $4.

What should I do to make my report -not- print all this useless junk, but just the end product?
Thanks

Query - Omitting A Record

Mar 15, 2007

Hi,

Wondered if SKS can help. I have a query which I have used for a mailing list (in report). However, there are a couple of records I do not want to show. (I just don't need those addresses at this time) How do I go about omitting these two from the query? Is this to do with crosstab queries??

Many thanks

Helen:)

Forms :: Hide Records That Have 1 In Combo Box

I have a form with a checkbox and a combo box. When I click the checkbox, I would like it to only show the specified records that are in the combo box. The current code I have is this:

Code:

Private Sub chkHideComplete_AfterUpdate()
On Error Resume Next
If Me.chkHideComplete = True Then
Me.filter = "[ReservationStatus] = 3"
Me.FilterOn = False

[Code] ....

I basically want to hide all records that have "1" in the combo box.

Forms :: Combo Box Wants To Show Records Not In List

Apr 4, 2013

I'm sure there is an easy way to do this but I have not clue.

I have three tables:
Students
STUDID (pk)
txtFname
txtLname
etc.

Classes
CLASSID (pk)
txtClassName
txtClassRoom
etc.

Student_Class (join table)
STUD_CLASSID (pk)
fk_StudID
fk_ClassID

On my Class form when assigning students there is a combo box which shows the students names. Once a student is picked in the combo box their name shows up in the subform.

What I would like is a way to NOT show a student in the combo box after they have been selected. Is this possible? Or should I be looking at another way of doing this?

Forms :: Limit Of Records That Can Be Shown Via A Combo Box?

Oct 29, 2013

In the form frmOrders of my database i have a combobox where i can choose a ClientID and the dropdown list shows me all the clients in upgoing order with their related orders in descent order. But the drop down list doesn't show all available clients. The two hundred heighest clientnumbers aren shown. However if i type one of these clientnumbers in the textbox of the combobox, the client is found. If i go to the property sheet of the combobox and activate the query that serves as the recordsource of the combobox, all clients are shown!!!I control of the records of these clients in the table Orders, doesn't show any difference with all the other records. What can be the reason for these behaviour. Is it a question of a limit of records that can be shown via a combo box?

Forms :: Sorting Records In A Combo With Code?

Apr 25, 2014

Can you have a saved (unsorted) query as a row source for a combo and then add some code to enable the combo to sort the list?

Reason is, I want three combos to use the same query for finding records in different ways, but need the query to be saved, not a query built by the query builder that access takes you into from the row source on the combo data tab?

I only need the data listed in each of the combos to be sorted by one column in each of the combos.

Have seen something about bubble sorting, but not sure if this is OTT or even could be applied to this?

FYI, this is not a cascading situation.

Forms :: Show All Records In Datasheet Subform On Form With Combo Box Filters On Load

Apr 1, 2015

I am having an issue trying to show all records when I load my form. It loads correctly when I don't have a record source for the main form. However, the combobox filters will not work. My goal is to have users be able to use the datasheet, subdatasheet and combobox filters. I can get the form to work just fine when I link the Main form and subform, but when the form opens it is filtered on the first record. I have been successful with this approach when using other forms, but they didn't require a subdatasheet.

Is there anyway I can have the comboboxes to filter yet be able to show all records until the user selects filters? Is this possible?I finally got my Manager to agree to use a database instead of Excel files based on this form setup and I need to make as "user friendly" as possible (look and function like a spreadsheet) I attached some pics of the form along with the code for the filter.

Problems Using A Combo Box To Filter Records In Another Combo Or A Sub-form

Nov 8, 2004

I have seen a few articles here and there on using a combo box to filter records in a sub-form and to filter records in another combo box, but I am not getting anywhere. I hope someone can belp

Exercise 1

For this exercise, I have the following tables:

tblClients containing client names
tblProjects containing some project details

I want to set up a simple form, so that the user can select a client name from a combo box on the main form which filters the project detail records in the Projects sub-form.
Once the user enters project details, I want this info as well as the selected ClientID to be fed back to tblProjects.

Exercise 2

I have the following tables:

tblProjects as above
tblWorkstream containiig names of workstreams and some other details.

Every project has one or more workstreams

I have a form where users will enter hours worked on each workstream. They will first select Project from a combo box on the main form. This should then filter records to be displayed in the Workstream Combo box, before they can then enter hours.

Please let me know if you need me to explain any part of this better.

Thanks in advance.

ps. I am a novice, so I'm hoping to do the above using default MS stuff, not with complex programming!!!

Thanks

Forms :: Change Record Source Of Combo Box On Form Based On Another Combo Box

Mar 31, 2014

I have a form that currently uses a "catch all" table for listing available equipment to choose from for an equipment field. I call it tblEquipment. What I want to do is to make it so when I type a name in (1 of 35) in one field of the current record, the record source for the equipment field immediately looks at a different table that has equipment available only for that name. To do this I plan on making 35 different tables with limited data originally found in tblEquipment. I would call these tblEquipment1, tblEquipment2, etc. I do not use a sub form, nor do I want to.

So my questions are:

1) can this be done
2)If it can be done, how can I do it?

Forms :: Filtering A Combo Box On A Subform From A Combo Box On A Main Form

Apr 27, 2013

I have a Suppliers database which contains a form that will allow me to place orders with Suppliers. The Main form has a combo box that allows me to select the supplier. The combo box is called SupplierID with the following:

Row source: SELECT Suppliers.SupplierID, Suppliers.CompanyName FROM Suppliers ORDER BY Suppliers.CompanyName;

The subform is called Stock Subform witha combo box called ProductID with the following:

Row source: SELECT DISTINCT Products.ProductID, Products.ProductName, Suppliers.CompanyName, Products.Discontinued FROM Suppliers INNER JOIN Products ON Suppliers.SupplierID=Products.SupplierID WHERE (((Products.Discontinued)=0)) ORDER BY Products.ProductName;
Event Procedure - AfterUpdate: Private Sub ProductID_AfterUpdate()
On Error GoTo Err_ProductID_AfterUpdate
Dim strFilter As String
' Evaluate filter before it's passed to DLookup function.
strFilter = "ProductID = " & Me!ProductID

[code]..

The Link fields are done on the Purchase Order ID (PONoID).What I want to achieve is to select the supplier from the combo box (SupplierID) on the main form and then the combo box (ProductID) on the subform to filter to only show products directly supplied by the Supplier selected on the Main Form.

Forms :: Fill Text Box Based On Combo Box (not Using Columns In Combo Box)

May 21, 2014

I'm looking for a way to have a text box auto fill based on the selection of a combo box on the same form. I cannot use the method i find all over the internet of using multiple columns in the combo box and basing the text box on that because the combo box already has multiple columns being used to determine its own possibilities and other combo box possibilities.

I would really just like the text box to work like this, but im still kinda inexperienced in VBA...

If combo box is "F004-001", then text box is "237"
If combo box is "F004-003", then text box is "280"

I know how to add in an "after update" thing, but i do not know how to do If/then statements.

We have two areas, with two locations under each area, and three systems under each location and each system contain more than 500 items.

I created all tables and fill by all information:

2-Table 2: Location 1, Location 2.
3-Table 3: System 1, System 2, System 3.
4-Table 4: all items under System 1-1-1
5-Table 4: all items under System 1-1-2

[Code] ....

Last table will be LogBook which will be as follow:

date l time l area l location l system l item l Conition1 l Conition2 l Conition3

My question regarding to the form of the above table:

How can I make a combo box for area field and when I select for example area1 will appear only the locations which under area1 in location field, and when I select location1 for example will appear only the systems under location1 in system field, and when I select system1 one for example will appear only items under system 1.Combo box list will be based on the selection in previous combo box and so on.
